Hearn thinks Brook vs. Mayweather will sellout Wembley Stadium

Eddie Hearn, the promoter for IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KOs), has his eyes set on two big fights for Brook in 2015 in matching him up against Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) and WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs).

Hearn sees both fights as being capable of selling out the 80,000 seat Wembley Stadium in London, UK. If Brook can beat Khan in early 2015, then there’s no question that a fight between Brook and Mayweather would be able to fill Wembley as well.

Mayweather hasn’t said yet who he plans on fighting in May of next year. He could either take Khan or maybe Brook if he raises his profile before then by beating a good welterweight in his next fight on December 6th in Sheffield. Hearn thinks that the fight could be carried by HBO or Showtime in the United States if he picks an opponent with a big enough name to interest them.

It will need to be at least someone like Brandon Rios to get HBO interested. Roberto Guerrero vs. Brook would interest Showtime. However, Hearn’s other options that he mentioned recently, Andre Berto and Josesito Lopez, probably aren’t going to be big enough names to get either of the U.S cable giants to televise the fight.

“There are three champions in the welterweight division, Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao and Kell Brook,” Hearn said to Skysports.com. “It’s wonderful company and a fight with either of those is a unification fight and a big fight. I think Kell has to establish his profile more in the States, command some more impressive victories, and then definitely in the mix for Floyd Mayweather in 2015. Why not? If Floyd fancies something special, I’m sure we wouldn’t have a problem selling out Wembley with that one.”

Mayweather hasn’t said if he would be interested in taking a fight against Brook. He’s been busy training for his September 13th rematch against Marcos Maidana, and hasn’t said if a fight between them would be a possibility. Hearn will no doubt be looking to lure Mayweather next year with an offer.
