Floyd Mayweather Sr. has zero worries about whether his son Floyd Jr. can successfully defeat Amir Khan and Marcos Maidana if he faces either one of them next on May 3rd. It’s widely thought that Mayweather will be fighting one of these two fighters next at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, but Mayweather Sr. doesn’t see either of them as giving Floyd Jr. a competitive fight.

“Both of them easy. Two easy fights; both of them is easy. Maidana might have punching power, but you still can’t hit what you can’t see,” Mayweather Sr. said to Hustleboss. So that’s going to put Maidana under a tree. Amir Khan’s got a glass jaw. And if you look at it too hard, it’ll shatter.”

Roy Jones Jr. believes that the tall 5’10” Amir Khan will give Floyd Mayweather Jr. a lot of problems if he’s the one that ends up facing him in his next fight on My 3rd. Jones Jr. thinks that Khan has the boxing skills and the speed to trouble Mayweather if he avoids trying to slug it out. Jones Jr. thinks Khan is a very good fighter when he’s focusing just on boxing his opponents.

Where he gets into trouble is when he goes out looking to punch. Jones Jr. thinks if Khan comes out with the right game plan to just box with Mayweather then the fight will be a tough one for Mayweather.

floyd56554As much as some people disapprove, even despise the idea of Floyd Mayweather Jr. facing Amir Khan next, the concept of this fight keeps gaining ground, and like in a snowball effect, is becoming more talked about and assumed a fact as time goes on.

According to Chris Mannix’s recent Tweet, this fight is going to happen, and an announcement is on its way.

“Still, I’m told Mayweather-Khan is a done deal. A U.S. fight. Announcement could come as early as next week,” read the Twitter post.

The latest talk is that former two division world champion Amir Khan may choose to bypass the risky fight against IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander on December 7th in order to sit around until May to get a much bigger money fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Khan’s promoters at Golden Boy Promotions wanted him to fight Alexander in order to give Khan a chance to pick up his IBF 147 lb. title and show boxing fans that he would be a worthy opponent for Mayweather.

Khan’s trainer Virgil Hunter doesn’t know what Khan is going to do, but he feels that he’s going to need to dedicate himself fully to the sport if he wants to beat a talented fighter like Mayweather.
