Maidana plans on being very aggressive against Mayweather in rematch

Former WBA 147 pound champion Marcos Maidana (35-4, 32 KOs) said last night that his plan for his September 13th rematch against WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) is to be very aggressive to try and beat him in their headlining fight on the Mayhem fight card at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Maidana says he didn’t have his conditioning right to fight a hard fight for 12 rounds in their previous fight last May, and that’s why he tanked in the last half of the fight after taking an early lead in the first 6 rounds.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER, Eleven-Time, Five-Division World Champion

“The first fight was action packed for the first four rounds before I took control. He has the will to win like I do. He’s a tough competitor and he has Argentina on his back–and of course I represent the red, white and blue so we must give the fans what they want to see… It’s another blockbuster.

Maidana rudely shoves Mayweather during stare down

YouTube video
Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) lost his cool on Tuesday during a stare down with WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) by twice shoving him hard when the two of them came face to face during their press event for Mayhem on PPV at six flags Fiesta Texas.

Mayweather seemed genuinely shocked at being shoved by Maidana, and then gave him an even bigger shove that drove Maidana clear across the stage. Maidana came back and shoved Mayweather a final time as if to even the score. While some people will no doubt this this was a staged event, it didn’t look that way to me.

Mayweather looked angry that Maidana chose to bully him on stage by shoving him hard when he was just trying to do a simple stare down with the Argentinian fighter. For whatever reason Maidana didn’t look like he wanted any part of Mayweather crowding him.
