Mayweather-Canelo reasonably priced at $65 to $75 on PPV

Canelo autographing(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) Golden Boy Promotions has decided to price the upcoming September 14th fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and their fighter Saul “Canelo” Alvarez at $65 for standard definition and $75 for high definition pay per view. This is good news. Golden Boy could have gotten really greedy and priced the fight into the $70s for standard definition and boxing fans likely would have purchased the fight in just as high numbers as they will for the $65 fight card.

The recent tour by Mayweather and Canelo will no doubt make the Mayweather-Canelo fight a lot bigger, as will the All Access episodes that will be televised by Showtime. Whether the fight will break the all-time PPV buys record set by Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya in 2007 is another matter altogether.

A lot of people on forums seem to really tear apart any boxer that gets into the ring no one is ever good enough there is always something or some one they have not faced.

In Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26 KO’s) we are lucky enough to have witnessed a true genius in the ring during our time it’s such a shame though that there not seen for how truly great they are while there still active. Take Muhammad Ali for instance he was ridiculed during his career and disliked it was only once the dust had settled we realized just how truly great an artist we had seen.

I say artist as he made it seem like art the way he moved and picked off his opponents one by one. This is happening all over the Internet currently with Mayweather but I just can’t understand it if you look at the majority of his opponents running up to the fight there built up and built up as soon as Floyd signs to fight them a slow flow of breaking down begins until fight night when there taken apart fully and then after people are straight away saying there weak and should never have been in the ring!

Mayweather says Pacquiao’s career is done

pac89Floyd Mayweather Jr. wasn’t bashful about giving his opinion about Manny Pacquiao in Mayweather’s press conference with WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in San Antonio, Texas this week. Mayweather told the fans that he saw Pacquiao as an over-the-hill fighter, and he then complimented Juan Manuel Marquez seemingly for a job well done in knocking Pacquiao out last December.

Mayweather said “Pacquiao’s a has-been; his career is over. [Juan] Manuel Marquez is a legend. I commend him.”

Tempers didn’t exactly flare between Floyd Mayweather, Canelo Alvarez and their camps during the lively festivities that included loud music, a mariachi band and colorful streamers shot into the air, but, for the first time during the enormously successful nine-day, 10-city tour, the respective teams were less than completely complimentary of each other on stage.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Ponders Commentating For Boxing After Retirement

One boxer who never ceases to impress with this knowledge of boxing and the ability to out-talk and outwit any other, is Bernard Hopkins. Every knows that a press conference involving Hopkins is worth tuning in to.

But aside from Bernard, there is another boxing superstar who has the natural ability to successfully argue and discuss: Floyd Mayweather Jr. He displays charisma and enthusiasm whenever he is either interviewed or is standing at a podium, and is most certainly a very clever and quick thinker.

Canelo will have to neutralize Mayweather’s speed to win

Canelo(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) If the inexperienced WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo’ Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) is to have any chance of winning on September 14th in his fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26 KO’s), Canelo is going to have to find a way to neutralize Mayweather’s huge speed advantage over him. Without doing that, Canelo doesn’t have prayer in this fight.

Mayweather is a lot faster than Canelo’s last opponent Austin Trout, and Canelo had problems with Trout’s speed and defense. That fight was very, very close and you ignore the judging for that fight, because those scores didn’t reflect what happened in the ring.

The clearer and clearer an obvious illusion becomes, the more some are clamoring to obtain whatever is necessary to feed their materialistic fetish.

There are of course others who are just as quick to call a trough a trough. Many of us perhaps have seen the financial figures for the most successful movies of all time and how their respective totals look once they are adjusted for inflation.

De La Hoya: Canelo is on his way to becoming great

Canelo arrives(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) Without a knockdown and some very generous scoring for his last fight, WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) would have ended up losing his last fight to Austin Trout last April in San Antonio, Texas in their open scoring fight. As it was, Canelo won a fight that looked to be more of a draw than a victory in the minds of a lot boxing fans.

Don’t tell that to Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya, because he feels Canelo is on his way to achieving greatness in his career.

De La Hoya said to the press today “With the help of the people surrounding him, Canelo is on his way to becoming great.”

Mayweather and Canelo Invade Houston, TX!

IMG_5983The unprecedented Mayweather-Canelo Press Tour continued on 07/01/2013 with another pit stop in Texas’ largest city: Houston, TX. As early as 8:00 AM in the first July morning of the year, fans began to flock to Houston’s Minute Maid Park Union Station. Although not as big as Mexico City’s mind-boggling turnout of 30,000+ fans, fellow Houstonians were ready to give the two boxing superstars a big Texas-sized welcome!

They say everything is bigger in Texas. This event was no exception.

Minute Maid Park’s Union Station was filled to capacity that left plenty of fans out in the heat as the festivities commenced. That did not discourage hardcore fans from sticking around. Once inside, the roaring fans let their voices heard. The red carpet was rolled out and the fans were restless with excitement. Was this a Mayweather or Canelo crowd?
