Results: Whyte defeats Helenius

Dillian “The Body Snatcher” Whyte (22-1, 16 KOs) labored to a 12 round unanimous decision over Robert Helenius (25-2, 16 KOs) to win the vacant WBC Silver heavyweight title on Saturday night at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

This was supposed to be a showcase fight for the 29-year-old Whyte. Instead, it turned out to be showcase of how technically flawed Whyte still is at this point in his career. Helenius, 33, highlighted the fact that Whyte cannot cut off the ring against an opponent that uses movement. Whyte also showed that he was unable to put his punches together in a sustained combination form.

Whyte vs Helenius In Cardiff on Saturday

Whyte vs Helenius In Cardiff on Saturday

Dillian Whyte says he’s going to make life hell for Robert Helenius when they clash for the WBC Silver Heavyweight title at Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports Box Office. Whyte wants to secure a showdown with WBC king Deontay Wilder in 2018 and knows that an impressive win over Helenius will take him a giant step towards that goal.

‘The Nordic Nightmare’ has vowed to destroy Whyte’s dreams, but Whyte doesn’t believe the former European champion will be able to stand the heat he’s preparing for the Welsh capital this weekend.

Dillian Whyte: Deontay Wilder might decide to fight Audley Harrison again instead of me!

British heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte has again put the boot in regarding WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder, whilst at the same time he has insisted his credentials for a shot at “The Bronze Bomber” will speak for themselves after he has beaten Robert Helenius on October 28.

Speaking with Sky Sports, Whyte, 21-1(16) said that after he beats Helenius on the upcoming Anthony Joshua-Carlos Takam bill in Cardiff (Takam replacing the injured Kubrat Pulev) Wilder will have to face him – either than or Wilder will “decide to fight Audley Harrison again.”

Dillian Whyte vs. Dominic Breazeale NOT happening

Hearn targeting Dominic Breazeale to fight Dillian Whyte on Oct.28

Now that heavyweight Dominic Breazeale has had the rug pulled out from under him in his previously scheduled fight against Bermane Stiverne for November 4, Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn is counting on the 6’7” Breazeale to agree to a fight against #3 WBC Dillian Whyte (21-1, 16 KOs) on October 28 in Cardiff, Wales.

Dillian Whyte tweets Wilder: No excuses now, I'll take Ortiz' place!

It hasn’t taken long for the news of Luis Ortiz’ failed drugs test to reach British heavyweight Dillian Whyte – and Whyte sees opportunity in the demise of the Cuban’s November 4 fight with Deontay Wilder.

Whyte, who has wanted and called out for a shot at Wilder and his WBC crown for some time, took to his twitter account a couple of hours ago, basically writing how Wilder must now face him instead of Ortiz.

“No excuses now, I’ll take Ortiz’ place,” wrote Whyte, adding the words, “Eddie Hearn make this fight now.”

The Dillian Whyte conundrum – who will fight him?

The Dillian Whyte conundrum – who will fight him?

British heavyweight Dillian Whyte is far from the best heavyweight in the world; he has been brutally KO’d by current WBA/IBF champ Anthony Joshua and he has laboured, at least a bit, during some of his winning fights. But what Whyte is, or what he appears to be, is a fighter willing to take on all comers, to fight the best.

Of course Whyte wants the most lucrative fights out there and of course he says a world title shot, should one come up, would take precedent over any other fight. But Whyte believes in himself and in his talents.

Dillian Whyte-Dereck Chisora II: The perfect fight for the October 28 Joshua-Pulev under-card?

Dillian Whyte-Dereck Chisora II: The perfect fight for the October 28 Joshua-Pulev under-card?

Promoter Eddie Hearn wants it, recently stating how it “has to happen,” the fans sure want it, due to how great the first fight was, and it seems we could perhaps see a return battle between British heavyweights Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora – and wouldn’t it be great if we saw it take place on the under-card of the upcoming October 28 fight between heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev?

Dillian Whyte’s body punches too much for Malcolm Tann; Whyte says they’d be too much for Deontay Wilder!

Dillian Whyte's body punches too much for Malcolm Tann; Whyte says they'd be too much for Deontay Wilder!

There was plenty of fine body punching on display in Nebraska last night, as Terence Crawford crushed Julius Indongo with a wicked body shot in the evening’s main event, and as heavyweight Dillian Whyte showed his body shot handiwork on the under-card.

Boxing his US debut, the British heavyweight was, as expected, too much for journeyman late replacement (for original foe Michael Grant) opponent Malcolm Tann. Whyte, beaten only by Anthony Joshua at pro level, stopped Tann in the 3rd round, sending him down a total of four times along the way. And after his easy yet quite impressive win, Whyte predicted how WBC heavyweight king Deontay Wilder “will fall after three or four rounds” if he agrees to face him any time soon.
