Gennady Golovkin (40-1-1, 35 KOs) surprised and disappointed a lot of fans this week when he revealed that he plans on defending his IBF middleweight title against his mandatory Kamil Szeremeta next rather than facing Canelo Alvarez in a trilogy match.
Oscar De La Hoya says he thinks a fight between Canelo Alvarez and former two-division world champion Andre Ward would be an “incredible” match-up if ‘SOG’ were interested in staging a comeback.
Carl Froch received quite a bit of criticism for his recent calling out of the long since retired Joe Calzaghe. Froch said he would “flatten” Calzaghe, aged 48 if he did agree to come back (he hasn’t, and he won’t; Joe content in retirement).
