Look…. Sometimes you’re going to get beat.. You don’t shout at your fighter because there’s no reason for him to take a beating from 2 people.. You scope out what’s wrong and you tell him.. Eddie told Chad to step it up vs Pascal.. He did and had Pascal going in the final round.. He was close to stopping him.. Then he suffered the cut and the fight went to the cards.. He got screwed.

Just about everyone loses fights in Boxing.. You don’t have your best night every night.

Be real Mustafa Muhammas is good but in the loss to Pascl he was corner passive! Way too nonchalent. Ice Scully proved to b way better cornerman each time. Scull would never let that slide

Chad Dawson is a terrific talent but at 30 years of age his mentality has been on full display he has NOT been REALLY dominating guys like he should… I like Steward driving him to get lessor athletes out of the ring with him but its just not part of his psyche… NOW we also KNOW he is a QUITTER because Ward made him QUIT…Dawson has had ENOUGH trainers his issue is (Chad Dawson) he will beat more fighters and be good or at times very good but he is NOT and likely NEVER will be GREAT… Against Ward he showed epic WEAKNESS and BAILED instead of absorbing a one sided UD loss…. I gleaned alot from that fight.

Chad is a great boxer.. He has beaten Tomasz Adamek, Bernard Hopkins, Antonio Tarver, and Glen Johnson, and he’s going to beat some more good ones.. He needed to ditch Scully who just lacks knowledge.. He needs a really tremendous technical trainer because he’s not a puncher.. He’s not going to beat Ward whatever happens but Scully really hurt him in the contest with the clever Hunter.. He’s not going to be able to get in with Hunter and Floyd Sr is getting past his best.. There are only so many fighters any trainer can or should take on … There is a massive lack of quality trainers but Eddie Mustafa is a good one.

Chad is looking like a DESPERATE Fighter he is changing trainers EVERY damn fight, Steward, Scully, Muhammad, Mayweather SR… His problem is NOT his trainer its his mentality he simply is a SOFT guy who is unwilling to impose himself in the ring… He is NOT a Mayweather clone who despite his craft is intense and does what it takes to put REAL distance between himself and his competitors..I gave up on Dawson being more than a good/very good fighter after he failed to really put it on an OLD Hopkins… After Muhammad he will be back looking for someone else..He might be Pascal but Dawson is now suspect after being made to QUIT in the ring

Good move Dawson… You can’t mess around with a guy who’s not a great trainer—but is just pretty good… Scully started shouting when you got in trouble, “We come BACK.. This is what we DO.” He told other people to shut up…That’s not the way to do it, getting all apoplectic… Eddie Mustafa may be fat and lazy – but he’s cool and knows his stuff.

Chad is not a big puncher and he shouldn’t try to be.. Skills are his deal.. He has to work skills 24/7.. Chad was landing the right hook on Ward to open the fight—and then he WASN’T landing it.. Ward started landing the LEFT hook. WHY??? Because Hunter said, “He’s nailing you with the right hook Andre.. You’re too anxious to get the left hook in.. You need to relax and wait.. You need a much sharper jab out there and wait on his right hook. Hook behind him and you’ll nail his ass to the floor.” … Scully was going nuts.

Swedish Boxing Fan

Still remember his promise when “Bad” Chad Dawson said he would dominate, knock-out and retire Bernard Hopkins last year and ….yeah he won a MD contest and did not look impressive at all defeating 47 year old legend Bernard Hopkins as the old champ did more to impresse then young and prime Dawson. I will go for Jean Pascal in the upcoming bout.

Chad Dawson is simply going to go down as a very good fighter he does NOT dominate enough of the guys he beats to be considered more.. He has been successful most nights but when more was required he never found the answer and the peak of his passion in the ring was body slamming B-Hop… He lacks killer instinct and Ward basically showed his limitations against a PRIME elite fighter… Pascal did not change Dawson, the reality is the upper limit of his mental strength has been gauged after Ward made him quit when he was NOT even receiving an EPIC beatdown.

Chad Dawson is oblivious to the thought of pointing any blame at himself

el Presidente

Chad needs to look inside versus skipping from trainer to trainer see what the problem is. Bottom line is he got his lunch money and his heart stone on the same night by Andre Ward

Chad can’t handle Floyd Sr, he’s never going back to him. Earlier in his career he looked good under Brian Clark and John Scully. With regards to Scully, Chad should have never rehired him in 2011. The problem with Chad he switches trainers too much, he needs to stick with one trainer who he feels comfortable with. He should have stick with a trainer by 2006 which would have been his 5th year as a pro fighter. But after firing Dan Birmingham who he claims was too basic, he kept going from trainer to trainer.

2nd Opinion

He Chad won his Title with Floyd… But that will never happen… Oil @ Water

Not only was Ward quicker, he was much stronger and the better puncher. Dawson is not as good as we thought

Posted January 9, 2013 12:57 am

Go back to Floyd Sr? I wish, but there is still bad blood between the two. Floyd Sr most likely didn’t like the way Chad fired him, and Chad doesn’t like Floyd comments or his boot-camp mentality It’s never going to happen, Chad obviously couldn’t put up with him.

yes that would befuddling ….

Posted January 8, 2013 10:29 pm

he should go back with Floyd Sr.

Posted January 8, 2013 9:17 pm

that should of read and goes and quits against Ward

Eddie is a better trainer than Scully

This……. I disagree with the writer.. Dawson has fast hands.. he ven has good power… not great , but better than Ward’s power.. but Dawson is just not mentally there at all.. one of the dumbest boxers (And I use that term only describing his ring generalship and thought process in the ring) in the sport outside of Victor Ortiz… and this is coming from a BIG Dawson fan.. it gets me mad.. smh… hope he can beat Pascal and then face Cloud or Cleverly

Posted January 8, 2013 6:46 pm

Its unfortunate but Dawson has all the talent in the world but he’s a mental midget .

Posted January 8, 2013 6:22 pm

Its because Dawson has no heart and can’t take blame on his own. I used to be a Dawson fan until after the Pascal loss when he said he didn’t care what the fans thought. Now I hope he loses everytime he steps in the ring. And then he said he was an old school fighter and then goes and quits against Dawson.

The Kingslayer

Fighters these days are too quick to blame their trainers, Chad you should have no shame in being beaten by Andre Ward who’s easily the P4P best boxer on the planet right now.

Mick the Marmalizer

All said & done Dawson’s still WBC champion @ 175Lb, so how about a unification with Cleverley, Cloud or Shumenov to clear up who’s #1?
