Te Tumbo, you call Manny “Ring Dumb” and one dimensional but Marquez who is a terrific technician has 2 official losses to him despite debates, was knocked down 5 times and sustained terrible damage even in the last contest…. If Pac Man is such a tragic shell of a boxer historically then how did he defeat and dominate BIGGER fighters in a solid 7 weight classes while being voted Fighter of the Decade??? This is a boxer who despite his fame still fought 2x per year and disposed of more name WW fighters than anyone else over the span… AGAIN if he was such an easy night then why did JMM not dispose of him in 2004, 2008 or 2011?? I know I know in your mind he (Marquez) won all those fights easy LOL…. Sorry kid, fact is that as terrific as he is Marquez got dropped 3 times in the first round by a guy who had ONE hand back then…. Manny has been a BEAST and JMM got more respect from his LOSSES to Manny than he did his wins over others

Te Tumbo, despite Marquez producing a resounding victory you still seem like the SAME deluded very bitter poster that you were before when Pacquiao was bashing your idols? Sad that you cannot gain a sense of proportion regarding Pac Mans dominance over the years… You might not like the answer but Tim Bradley was a viable and FAR safer choice than Marquez, but alas Manny took yet ANOTHER fight despite writers and many in the public being apathetic and downright disinterested… Was Manny supposed to turn his back on FAR greater glory and tens of millions to stay in a weight class YOU found more preferable? Your anti-Pacquiao crusade has left you devoid of logic and nonsensical in the extreme… As Pac Mans career flourished with wins over Morales, ODH, Cotto, Clottey, and Margo was he supposed to wait on Marquez who NEVER beat another WW fighter in his life?? Again Pac Man gets credit for facing his toughest rival 4 times…:)

But a happy event for JMM and HIS fans…as I’ve said before… Pacquiao wanted to recreate the 1st round of the 1st fight—but wanted to go grab the finish that slipped away in the 1st fight. He got greedy. Marquez certainly knew Manny was going for the kill. That was no secret because Manny loudly PROMISED a decisive KO. Manny put himself on the spot and he certainly delivered the KO—only not for the right team. JMM wasn’t looking to win on points. JMM wasn’t even concerned about a points win. JMM played possum because he knew the way Pac was coming the perfect KO shot would eventually present itself—and man, if he was only alert enough he knew he could apply the finisher

That was JMM’s plan … Screw a decision you’re not going to get in 10 million years because of the Mayweather vs Pacquiao Super-Duper Extravaganza looming for 2013.

Posted December 21, 2012 5:47 pm

Really agonizing and very depressing for Manny and his fans. Imagine your hero face down sleeping. The longest sleep in the history of boxing. Aw’ C’mon! That was sad to end the year and No chance again for a 5th fight against JMM. Really SAD for his fans!

Power surge… he was getting the best of marquez till he met a Marquez right hand half way to a knock out. Anyw one would hit harder if you ran into thier fist. What an idiot….

Posted December 21, 2012 2:56 pm

Te Tumbo, you can pretend that Pacquiao avoided or did not want a scrap with Marquez but history rebutts that notion to the tune of 42 rounds… As far as Bradley or Marquez being considered “lethal threats” NEITHER enjoyed that distinction prior to Marquez exhibiting a late career power surge at WW and putting Pac Man on his grill.. Introducing the Mayweather bout as part of the pickle Pacquiao was in, is quite disingenious because the myriad complications that ultimately killed that bout…I know your mission is to NOT give Pacquiao a sliver of credit but realistically do you think Al Haymon would have let a marquis, money maker like Pacquaio face Marquez who has been the ONLY guy over the past how ever many years to trouble him?? Pac Man star DID indeed dim after that 3rd fight and the risk in fighting Marquez was apparent, if he did not win IMPRESSIVELY he was going to be raked over the coals, instead a nightmare ensued…

Posted December 21, 2012 10:28 am

JMM… Nice job on KO’ing Pacroid…Please don’t fight Pac again you have proved you are the better fighter… Pacroid and his team was hoping not to fight you again but cotto turned down his catch weight offer so they chose you.. Make him continue to fight tougher opponents and chase you like they did you. PAC is done enough to stick a fork in.

I Repeat: following his undeserved “W” v. Marquez in their third fight, Pacquiao* was cornered with no worthwhile opponents to face besides his two primary P4P rivals. as IF Bradley was ever considered a lethal threat to Pacquiao*(?) in fact, Manny’s* 30-second fight-strategy only reinforced the notion that Pacquiao* believed a minimal effort was all he would need to prevail over Bradley. he was wrong and his miscalculation resulted in only two realistic opponents for him to regain his previous prominence: Marquez or Mayweather. of course, Mayweather was no where near as desperate as Marquez to get another crack at Pacquiao*. nor could Manny* browbeat Mayweather into accepting unfavorable conditions and purse-splits. not to mention that (for obvious reasons ) Team Punkuiao* has never reeeally wanted to face an even remotely prime-version of Mayweather. therefore REDMOND, please name a SINGLE opponent other than Marquez that Pacquiao* would realistically agree to face? Just ONE? in fact, i would love to see Pacquiao* v. Mathysse, Khan, Garcia, or Rios but how realistic is that? not enough money to be made in those matchups to satisfy Team Pacquiao’s* greed. consequently, having cherrypicked, compromised, and cheated every other Name in the welter division, Pacquiao* painted himself into a corner and the only realistic option out of that corner was to face and decisively defeat Marquez. at which point, Marquez planted him face-first into that very same corner for good . . . Viva Marquez!

I’m glad there will be NO 5th fight and the KO will haunt Manny and his fans forever, ever. Yahoo!

Posted December 20, 2012 7:32 pm

Pac is a great champ and even though he has 2 wins against Marquez, Marquez will go down as the better fighter because everybody has seen him win more rounds, Pac couldn’t keep him down and Marquez was able to KO Pac cold. That is how everyone will remember. Yes he has 2 wins but those are debatable especially the 3rd one. And if folks are going to claim that is how the judges saw it well the judges saw Bradley winning even though I thought Pac won even though he really didn’t land to many punches. Pac lost that fight though because he only fought the last 30 seconds of the round. That really only worked with Sugar Ray Leonard

Posted December 20, 2012 6:02 pm

Marquez will never walk away from the big dollars he is now getting for Pacquaio fights.

Posted December 20, 2012 5:03 pm

Who would’ve ever thought that it was Marquez that would define Mayweather’s legacy? Marquez said it multiple times that he never wants to face Floyd again. He also said that Mayweather would have whipped Pac.

Boxtradamus….Props on the prediction.
Malachi….I agree. Can’t wait to hear from Chicago Guy should he ever return.

Posted December 20, 2012 2:18 pm

While I applaud Marquez scorching victory, I also cannot help but respect the Champion and Warrior that Pacquiao is… He layed it on the line and tried to go for the KO just like he said he would (as did Marquez)… Pac Man was congratulatory in his defeat and made no excuses, Marquez hailed him as the GREAT fighter that he his…You cannot lift Marquez on your shoulders as an ATG fighter by saying he officially booked 2 losses to an OK fighter? If Manny is just a GOOD fighter then Marquez should have wiped him out long ago and not eaten 5 KD’s in the process..Marquez has gotten MORE credit from his close fights/losses to Pacquiao than he did for wins over Diaz and Casamayor and its because Pac is an ATG…

Posted December 20, 2012 1:04 pm

Pacquiao was HARDLY cornered he deserves credit for taking a fight with a guy who had given him HELL for 3 other bouts… He easily could have fought Timothy Bradley who most intelligent, unbiased fight fans think he beat as opposed to Marquez who MANY believe defeated him last time they danced… In this age of matchmaking, risk assessment and smoke and mirrors, Pac Man showed a REAL fighters desire to defeat his arch nemesis and consequently he suffered the WORST defeat of his career… As far as the Mayweather scenario Marquez fought Manny 4 times absent any unusual testing so his fighters spirit can only be respected and admired…Despite his defeat Manny is one of the GREATEST fighters to lace up

the clock on Pacquiao’s* fairy tale began ticking immediately after Marquez was robbed of his hard-earned victory in the third bout. at that point, Pacquiao* found himself cornered by P4P rival #1 to the left of him and P4P rival #2 to the right of him. Manny’s* emergency ejection button only landed him in the ring v. Bradley, an official loss, and right back in the crosshairs of P4P SEAL Marquez once again. another KO-retirement threat later, Marquez scores the greatest KO in Boxing history, and Pacquiao’s* coach turns back into a pumpkin . . . how sweeet it is . . . Viva Marquez!

it’s truly satisfying to recall how Marquez was publicly threatened with KO retirement in the last two bouts. instead, he earns the KO vindication. IMO, conventional boxing logic regarding Marquez went out the window once he unified at 135lbs. many forget what a truly remarkeable feat that was at the time and certainly superior to Manny’s* one-off at 135lbs v. the lesser Diaz. from that point forward, Arum, Roach, and Pacquiao* should’ve known better than to underestimate Marquez. on the bright side, Manny* finally got his $25 million payday v. a fighter not named Mayweather. i remember when that amount was considered the promotional end-game for Arum. now that amount has become somewhat of a compromise for Manny* but it will be remembered as his earning peak. the only matchup that could’ve earned more was v. Mayweather. i can recall posting how stupid it was for Pacquiao* to avoid the single mega-payday v. Floyd that would be worth the combined handful of lesser paydays he would have to earn v. lesser opponents, including Marquez. Pacquiao’s* recent $25 million payday was only possible because of the huge purse disparity they were able to impose on an ATG ring-warrior who was more determined to finally defeat Pacquiao* than collect a huge payday. pride prevailed over greed, which only adds to the integrity of Marquez’s KO win . . . Viva Marquez!

Marquez has NOTHING to prove, he proved it all a couple of Saturdays ago…He knocked out the ONLY 7 division Champion, 4 weight lineal Champion, Fighter of the Decade and he did it while being 5 or 6 years older than Manny Pacquiao…Those razor thin decisions Pac won pale in comparison to the exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Marquez put on his legacy by assasinating Pac Man in that fashion… Truly a great moment and feel good story in boxing…

Posted December 20, 2012 11:12 am

Marquez should fight Pacquiao for one reason and one reason only if he chooses to do so and that is the FATTEST paycheck of his career.. It is intelligent bargaining right now to discuss retirement and the possibility of leaving his and Mannys last moments in the ring with Pac Man facedown on the canvas in order to strengthen his position when the inevitable offers for a 5th fight occur…In a perfect world Marquez would move on like Lennox Lewis and go out a winner… But they money being dangled in his face his going to be too much…To be honest its a tough scenario because a 40 year old JMM stands a good chance of losing my mind, it will be ANOTHER training camp, MORE sparring and father time just creeping up on a Great fighter…

Juan Manuel is not the kind of guy who would base his decision on wether to fight again or not on what his wife thinks. Politicians who quit under a cloud will say they are quitting to spend more time with the family, we don’t think that’s an issue here. Other than for the money why not go out on top, you proved to the world you were a great fighter, leave it there, nothing good will come from fighting again.

Manny will be heading to do a commercial in Guam posing at the beaches laying down in the sand sun bathing “backside”. I read at the National Enquirer Magazine and it will be sponsored by Copper Tone sun tan lotion. Now that makes business sense and a new career.

Btw, only Pacquiao* has ever rejected OSTing. conversely, Marquez agreed to OSTing to face Floyd (for the short money) and essentially challenged/taunted Team Pacquiao* with public declarations of “i will take ANY test. ANY time. I have nothing to hide”. too bad Team Pacquiao* declined Marquez’s invitation. it would’ve only made Marquez’s KO victory even sweeter. i wonder what his heartbroken fanboys would resort to whining and crying about next(?). or perhaps evaporate into cyberspace like “Chicago Guy” (lol). that little dufu-rat appears to be the first to have abandoned Capt. Manny’s* sinking ship. he didn’t even have the dignity(?) to “cry” and “whine” along with the rest of them.

Manny is done! This business is over. Manny shouldn’t even be fighting any more he’s been exposed. The well has run dry.

Posted December 20, 2012 2:49 am

Great points Jvincy. Marquez stated that after the first knockdown, he knew he would KO Pac. After that knockdown, Pac started feinting punches (with his hands down!) and this made him more open for counters. Agree that Mayweather would have been all over that as well.

Posted December 19, 2012 11:45 pm

Expose the 2 other TR hypes rios/bradley ruing arums plans then retire.Already beat pac 3-4x & you knocked him out withing 6 in a finishing statement nothing left to prove at 39.

Posted December 19, 2012 10:28 pm

His two losses were highly controversial. However, should Pac want another fight then Marquez rightfully so should give him the opportunity. Pac gave Marquez the rematches that he wanted with no problems. I bet the money negotiations are going to be a problem next time around.

Posted December 19, 2012 9:49 pm

I think if Pacquiao calls for a rematch, Marquez should take it. After all, one KO win doesn’t make his one draw and two losses, wins. Marquez proved he still has a lot of skills, talent, fire, and heart in him. Doesn’t make sense to me that all he wanted to do was get one definitive win over Pacquiao, then quit. Besides, how is it that a long-time pro like Marquez took so long to figure out how to definitively beat Marquez? Prior to #4 I wasn’t interested in another Pacquiao/Marquez rematch. But now I am. Just think how attitudes and ratings would change if Marquez KOd or stopped Pac again! or, think how attitudes and ratings would change if Pacquiao definitively beat marquez in a 5th fight. Anything is possible when two greats fight. I don’t think Pacquiao wants to go down in history as a loser. I bet I’m right too.

Posted December 19, 2012 9:30 pm

If you pay close attention to the knockout you will see that Marquez was attempting to counter the fake jab that Pacquiao threw at first. Had Pac followed through with the jab and made contact the round would have ended. By the time Pac came back with the 2nd full jab Marquez was already coming forward with the counter at full force. Lessen to all boxers, always follow threw with the jab. Only a great counterpuncher could pull that off. Mayweather would likely have gotten him the same way.

Posted December 19, 2012 8:53 pm

Sounds to me like Pac will need to give some of his purse to Marquez’s wife to make the fight happen.

Posted December 19, 2012 8:41 pm

…by the way, does anybody knows if PEDman sang after the fight?…he always does you know!!

Posted December 19, 2012 8:36 pm

…very simple…MONEY!!,look there’s no question Arum still believes a fight between PEDman and Floyd still is possible, they were counting on another close fight between PEDman and Marquez, and even if the fight ended in a decision in which Marquez appeared the winner,no way he would walk away with the win(see Marquez/PEDman 3)…so Marquez decided this time he will leave the PEDman-lovin judges out of the picture!!

Posted December 19, 2012 8:31 pm

Why do these writer’s continue to exaggerate Pacquiao’s performances? Sure he was winning the 5th and 6th rounds, but I never saw Marquez in any serious trouble. In fact it was Pacquiao that was hurt after the first knockdown. Thinking that Marquez was wilting is ultimately what got Pac ktfo, lol!

I have seen Marquez in far more trouble before against other fighters.

They say lucky punch and they say being careless equals to a fifth fight. Nah, Jmm should retire with Manny. Then they could both go on do an exhibition fights circuit around the world. Manny could pose again laying in the beaches of Guam.

Posted December 19, 2012 8:14 pm

I really dont know too much bout PEDs but I was under the impression that it is used to get bigger and stronger, I could b wrong but i dont think it would help Marquez with his timing and accuracy and thats what was the main factors for him landing that punch. It was just perfectly set up especially with Pac moving into it and not seein it comin. I really think someone not as strong or Marquez in their previous fights in the same situation would b enough to stop Pac, maybe not as drammaticly with him fallin face first but enough.

Posted December 19, 2012 8:11 pm

It wouldn’t b a bad idea 2 go out with a win vs pacman 4 Marquez. I don’t think a Mayweather fight will happen, Arum won’t make that. If he is 2 fight again than yeah Bradley makes sence especially if it’s tittles he’s chasing

Posted December 19, 2012 7:58 pm

…if anyone is suspected of PED use,at least in recent past,is Pacquiao himself,,what kind of moron turns down HUGE ammounts of money just because, and i quote”I’m affraid of needles” to fight Floyd…yet has no problems stepping into a ring to trade mortal blows?

Posted December 19, 2012 7:53 pm

…the man gets tagged with a perfectly-timed counter right hand, lands flush on his face with all the power of the forearm, biceps, shoulder and torso behind(1300lbs. of force from an article that i read),lands on the canvas face first, lay motionless for several minutes,to the horror of EVERYONE watching it,finally recovers after several minutes, seems in fair condition & without signs of serious injury and the best that SOME of his fans can come up with is “PED’S”…never mind the BOTH men tested clean afterwards…that’s how fanatical some of these individuals are!!

Posted December 19, 2012 7:46 pm

Retire Marquez. You already did more than enough. You’ve proven to be one of the ATG’s of Mexican fighters. You have nothing else to prove. However, if you do agree to a fifth fight, only do it if you get the majority of the prize money, not less or equal. They foolishly accept a fifth fight for less money and get screwed over again.

Posted December 19, 2012 7:36 pm

Pacquiao is literally one of the WORST stoppages of an elite fighter I can think of…Even RJJ had his eyes open when he was put down by Glenn Johnson… Marquez put Pacquiao to sleep, he fell on his FACE for that moment all brain activity ceased he is lucky his heart did not stop because his wife sure as hell did… If Manny was not so physically strong he would have been starring in the remake of “Sling Blade” the Phillipines… Marquez will be showing his grandkids that KO when he is 85 years old…. Gotta give the man his due

Posted December 19, 2012 7:14 pm

You guys really think that Heredia is the ONLY guy in the business that knows the PED game? EVERYONE does and the only reason guys are griping about Marquez is that Manny who was the MOST accused (unfairly in my estimation) of PED usage was knocked out…If Marquez was going to cheat why would he employ the services of a guy that would subject him to EXTRA scrutiny?? And where were these charges when he simply boxed Manny last time out? Reality is that guys had a narrative in their heads that Manny Pacquiao could not be stopped, well newsflash he took ONE punch too many…If Margarito could go down against Mosley anyone can get it…

100% correct!!,Marquez is tough as nails, knows that patience & perseverance is the KEY to defeating PEDman(besides STRAIGHT rights) and a fifht fight is about as pointless as teats in a chicken!!

Posted December 19, 2012 5:41 pm

If Manny was well on his way to stopping Marquez then he would of stopped him in the first fight. Marquez does not stay down. He timed Pac with a nice right hand that ended the fight. That was not a lucky punch well of course unless Marquez did not mean to throw the punch at all. But I am pretty sure that Marquez ment to throw that punch and ment to land it on Mannys face. He may have not thought it would of KOd him especially with a second left but he did. And folks if you are going to keep saying Marquez was taking PED then you also have to say Manny was doing the same. I read someone what Arum said Ariza used to work for that same strength coach Marquez had.

Posted December 19, 2012 5:36 pm

Hecdog, you are taking the term “Sore Loser” to a new LOW…. Marquez brilliantly put Pac Man out of business with that one shot… Whatever his struggles during the bout they were not sufficient enough to deter him from timing and nailing Pacquiao in dramatic fashion… Like Pacquiao he tested clean so that KO will be recorded for all future fight fans to see…Leading and then getting knocked out means NOTHING… Pac would had had a paltry 2 point lead after the 6th round I believe… Get over it Marquez layed waste to Manny and now his entire career is in jeopardy, he is medically suspended and cannot afford another loss… All credit to JMM

Posted December 19, 2012 5:16 pm

Why is so hard for these die-hard Pactards to understand that Marquez IS the better boxer of two and excuses at these stage of the game is nothing but a futile attempt to tarnish his brutal K.O victory?;in fact i dare say if PEDman steps into the ring again, better do it against a no-name pillow-fistted fighter, otherwise he might be doomed to the same fate as last…he was a VERY lucky man to see his 34th birthday, and for that we should ALL be grateful!!

Fight Aficionado

Off topic but newsworthy to boxing historians and the sport itself: The US Library of Congress announced today that the Corbett-Fitzsimmons Title Fight of 1897 will be preserved for its enduring significance in American culture. It’s among 25 selections the library is inducting Wednesday into the National Film Registry. The oldest film of 25 inductions today being preserved, “The Corbett-Fitzsimmons Title Fight,” dates back 115 years to 1897. Film curators said the boxing movie helped establish the film industry as a successful business, drawing on the sport’s popularity and controversy to generate $750,000 in income. Boxing was illegal in many states at the time but had been made legal in Nevada, which hosted the fight. The film, with a running time of about 100 minutes, became the longest movie ever produced at the time, showing the full course of the fight. — Bravo to the US Library of Congress. Boxing will never die.

i would love to see him take bradley out and retire with another belt. his wife wouldnt have anything to worry bout cause tim couldnt knock Marquez out unless he had a bat. I really dont see a way he could be seriously hurt in that fight. Plus bein a former Bradley fan until rite after the pac fight i wanna see Tim lose his belt as quick as possible. A little side note, what the hell has Tim been up to recently? Is he still recoverin from those injuries? Anyway I would love to see a fifth with Pac just for entertainment value but Marquez should work Tim over and retire.

Malachi, I agree Marquez is literally one of the toughest fighters I have ever seen.. He was getting clobbered at times during their 4 fights by a murderous LOWER weight puncher and he never relented or stopped fighting to win…Alot of guys will try to see the bell but Marquez fought to win… Cotto is gutty as hell but he backed off after Manny put him down… Whereas JMM kept going for the “W”… Like Manny said postfight “My opponent is a difficult fighter, I did my best” Marquez deserves ATG credit at this point he is the guy who officially stopped the Pac Man express, if you think Bradley did it then you don’t know boxing

Someone here had said for Marquez to rematch mayweather to make big money and then fight Pacquiao one more time and retire with more money. I think that is exactly what he should do. If he can’t get a mayweather fight just retire, you already beat manny at least 3 times already.

…why Pactards now insisting on a 5th fight between these two?,i mean look,Marquez knows this man better than anyone else on this planet,he knows that he will eat straight rights all night long and he won’t change his style any time soon, and Marquez also knows that he will get tagged, but so will PEDman, and this time he knows there is “cracks in the armor”;all he has to do is be patient, wait until PEDman comes forward with his “leap frog 1,2.3”,step side to his left and…WHAAAM!!,straight right and PEDman is on his rear end, down & out!!

Been a fight fan for 25 plus years and JMM is one of my all time favourite fighters. I say get the pension plan fight with Bradley beat him than sail of into the sunset. The guy is a legend

marquez just made a career-high $6 mil guaranteed payday. Marquez-Pacquiao 5 will probably get a guaranteed $15 mil. Everybody and their mother will be pushing him to take this fight. There no way he’ll retire. No way.

To find the shot when he did was seriously impressive stuff from Marquez, I am convinced he was going to be stopped though, Pacmans speed the big factor. Cant talk about what ifs though, but would love to see number 5, possibly the biggest fight out there now.

Marquez was looking like he could not keep up with Manny for big stretches of that short fight… Pac was countering hard and fast and had JMM not been so damn, tough, determined and strong who knows how things would have went… That 5th round was hard for him and he was taking some fire in the 6th… The Greatness of Marquez victory lies in part with what he had to overcome to acheive it (just like the first fight to get a draw) pretending he was in full command or that his injuries were of no consquence belies the reality of the bout… JMM is officially one of the toughest fighters P4P I have ever seen, but you cannot be deemed tough without being in tough circumstances… Saturday fit the bill…

Marquez should not fight Pacman because what could happen there is, mind you I am speculating…

Bob Arum: Marquez, fight Pacman but this time go down… Here’s 20 Mil to keep it in the down-low.
That would produce the mega fight of 100 Mil between Pacman Vs. Money; which Pacman again will lose but Bob Arum will milk his Cow dry.

The following should happen; Marquez fight Bradley than retire head up high and Pacman should retire… he made millions and was fun to watch but Pacman lost his last three fight and it’s no longer the

Marquez won 3/6 rounds of that including the 6th, which he ultimately claimed by detaching Manny* from his senses. moreover, it’s a 12-round fight and only a clueless fanboy would count Marquez out of a 12-round fight as early as the 6th round because of a bloody nose. meanwhile, smart move my Marquez if he goes for Bradley. it would place a double-exclamation point to his domination of Pacquiao*. in fact, even if he lost there is no possible way he could improve on his previous win over Pacquiao* other than bringing a gun into the ring and blowing Manny* away at the opening bell. that rivalry is OVER. either Bradley to double-seal his ATG ring-legacy or retirement. it’s good to be Juan Manuel these days.

i just dont see where Pac was beating Marquez up. like this idiot writer and. plus some of you say. the fight only went 6 rounds and Pac was already knocked down earlier in the 3rd. and he was really hurt from the first knockdown plus I gave marquez the first round

I would love Marquez to retire on top, because he is a guy that remained Blue Collar his entire career… He was very much avoided during the early years of his career while Morales and Barrera got all the shine, but like a diligent tradesman he plugged away, remaining relevant and never giving up… Like Hopkins when he fought ODH, Marquez now stands to make the kind of money that secures you for LIFE… He will command no less than 12 mill for a Pac Man rematch, and possibly 7 mill or more if he fought Bradley…. If he reclaims the WBO belt from Bradley then fights Manny his money will last forever his Mexico… In a perfect world he would retire after standing on the ropes crushing Manny…. But 15-20 mill over 2 fights will be too much to resist in my opinion.

I would like him to retire…but, another part of me wants him to fight Bradley for the title. Marquez deserves it!

From Detriot – I agree. Marquez should follow Joe Calzaghe’s example and leave a legacy where people will always remember you for the KO of Pacquiao and forget all the previous bad decisions.

From Detroit

Go out on top!

No way Marquez is going to go out on top with a storybook ending its just not in the DNA of 99% of boxers they need the end to be depressing and cliche…JMM got the job done in spectacular fashion but in a rematch with Pac Man, my initial position would do a 180 based on what I saw after now watching that bout 4 times… Marquez was frightfully slow compared to Manny who was outboxing him in a way I had not seen during the 2nd or 3rd bout.. If they fight again Marquez is going to be 40 or somewhere thereabouts I would think a more respectful Manny would grind him down and stop him in the latter rounds… JMM would be safer taking it to Bradley who is not a big hitter nor as athletic as Pac Man….

i think its safe to say that from this era p4p manny and marquez both deserve to share the number two spot with floyd being the obvious number one

A 5th fight with Pacquiao will be the largest payday for Marquez. I’m 100% certain he will fight again.

Billy Boy

If I was Marquez I would at least stop taking the undectable PEDS that Angel is giving. Giving your kidneys a break.

Leave the Pactards holding their nuts and wondering what if. Retire and enjoy it.

What fight was this writer watching. The fight WAS NOT one sided. He knocked Pacman FLAT ON HIS BACK in the 3rd. When Pacman rocked him; his GLOVE touched the canvas; so therefore it was considered a knockdown. I’m not saying Marquez didn’t get rocked in that 5th; but to listen to some of these scribes; they make it sound like the man was taking a beating. He couldn’t have been taking that much of a beating the way he layed Pacman OUT!!!!!!
