@ Just so you know…, Vitali said his best fight ever was versus Tomasz Adamek when he was 40.. Adamek was 44-1 and Vitali dominated and stopped him.

After the Sam Peter fight, after 4 years with no fights or exhibitions (Ali trained for and fought several exhibition matches when he was off 3 years) Vitali said he felt better than ever because he had timet to rehab his legs — which old injuries from kickboxing were causing him repeated postponements, and an actual retirement from Boxing.

Lewis was better than ever at 37 as well.. He was too skinny when he was 25-30.. and his jab and defense wasn’t as developed.. Ditto the Klitschko’s.. Big heavyweights come on late.

Kudos to both Lewis and V.Klitschko.Both were outstanding heavyweights in my book.Armchair “experts” will argue until the Moon falls from the sky as to who beat who/who would’ve beaten who in a rematch, etc.
Bottom line is both men were great champs and at least in my opinion, deservedly so

And don’t pretend you have any ‘inside’ knowledge on preparation for world title fights. Everyone can play the prep game but Lewis was also preparing for a different fighter and style until 2 weeks before the fight.

Posted August 9, 2014 4:27 pm

Just so you know

So Lewis sprung the fight on Vitali? I’m pretty sure he had little say he would have been told who it was after the promotor got a replacement in to save the card. You can say whatever you want but Vitali had youth and ambition on his side in that fight whereas Lewis by the admission of BOTH fighters was underprepared and already thinking of retirement. And he still found a way to dig in and win. Lewis in his prime would have owned Klitshko. Either one. I can’t believe there’s even an argument here. I remember clearly at the time all the debate but the fact the fight was close was only due to the stage of career Lewis was in. And when the fight was stopped he had won the last two rounds and was clearly starting to get it together digging deep like a true champion does. Only a hater of Lewis can dispute his legacy.

Posted August 9, 2014 4:24 pm

Just so you know- see how deluded these guys are, even Vitali acknowledged that Lewis was not in good shape but these jokers insist he was, they know better than Vitali who had just shared a ring with him.

Just so you know you are lame

Read above

Posted August 9, 2014 3:42 pm

Just so you know you’re stupid

Lewis was in training camp for a HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT for MONTHS.

Vitali had two (2) weeks to prepare for a WORLD TITLE FIGHT you IDIOT!!!

A fighter employs VASTY different amounts of planning.. personnel.. sparring.. trainers.. camp facilities.. and other resources for a World Heavyweight Championship Fight than for ANY other kind of fight.. Especially a flunky fight—WHOEVER you are. So PLEASE don’t be so stupid.

That’s why Lewis sprung the offer on Vitali… He knew VK couldn’t possibly be prepared… However Vitali was winning on ALL SCORECARD at the end of Lewis-Klitschko…

Lewis reneged on his promise of a rematch, because he knew Vitali Klitschko would be more ready than for any fight in his life—because VK already KNEW he could beat Lewis.. He already beat Lewis UNANIMOUSLY, if the fight went to the scorecards as it should have.

Posted August 9, 2014 3:09 pm

Just so you know

Tark, after the fight Vitali is quoted as saying he knew Lewis was not conditioned but you know for a fact he was? Vitali was in training and as we know a Klitschko in training for any fight is meticulously prepared. Lewis was undertrained for the fight and at he still had enough to defeat Vitali. To try to say It was somehow a peak Lewis at that stage and a under prepared Vitali is ridiculous.

Posted August 9, 2014 2:49 pm

I used to like the Klitschkos.. they are talented and nobody can take that from them. But Wlad does fight boring and Vitali was Great as a boxer but a sell out politician.

Klitschko enthusiasts are generally satisfied if not to say pleased with the current (over a decennium now) heavyweight boxing situation, perhaps minus the fact that Vitali decided to go in to politics instead of continuing his reign of terror, visited upon the heavyweight boxing scene, as witnessed and applauded by an amazed and appreciative boxing world. Btw, Briggs (Haye / Chisora / Mayfeather / etc) represent the boxer of the kind that reeks of low life, low IQ, and low down style so common amongst this pedigree. The brothers have largely improved the heavyweight scene in more ways than one. We are grateful.

A lot of ATGness is in the eye of the beholder.

If they came up today they might not get any farther than Alexander Povetkin – who has one defeat – but can’t get by Waldimir Klitschko. What’s he supposed to do???

A lot of ATG’s didn’t switch trainers, keep improving in their 30’s — and go over 10 years at the world level without a defeat of any kind.

A list of 34 K Bros victims contains no bus drivers and VERY FEW cruiserweights

1.David Haye 2.Eddie Chambers 3.Corrie Sanders 4.Lamon Brewster 5.Hasim Rahman 6.Sam Peter 7.Sultan Ibragimov 8.Ruslan Chagaev 9. Kevin Johnson 10.Shannon Briggs 11.Juan Carlos Gomez 12.Chris Byrd 13.Calvin Brock 14.Tony Thompson 15.Kirk Johnson 16. Ray Mercer 17.Tomasz Adamek 18.Larry Donald 19.Derrek Jefferson 20.Ed Mahone 21.Chris Arreola 22.Jamel McCline 23.Monte Barrett 24.Frans Botha 25.Timo Hoffman 26.Ray Austin 27.Danny Williams 28.Albert Sosnowski 29.Herbie Hide 30.Odlanier Solis 31.Mariusz Wach 32.Manuel Charr 33.Francesco Pianeta 34.Jean Marc-Mormeck

Mormeck, Chambers, Haye, Byrd, Adamek, and Gomez are the only so-called “cruisers.” They weighed 216, 209, 211, 210, 216, and 230

Contrast that with the 12 guys Ali and Frazier fought who weighed into the ring in the 180’s and 190’s: Dave Zygelwscz, Terry Daniels, Jerry Quarry, Jimmy Ellis, Bob Foster, Marion Connor, Ruddi Lubbers, Henry Cooper, Floyd Patterson, Doug Jones, Karl Mildenberger, and Leon Spinks

Twice as many little guys, who averaged over 20 pounds lighter.

Bill Patrice Jones says.., “Lewis was so tired at the end of the sixth I no way could see him making it through the next two rounds on his feet.”

He didn’t need to.., The fight was over because of deeply slashed wounds…

…on Vitali left eye and cheek – all the gashes tracing the same direction as Lewis’s rake with the palm of his right glove – while he had Vitali was in a headlock, shortly after his thumbstrike with his right glove in the 3rd round … Lewis was desperate and fouling, because he almost got knocked out in the 1st two rounds.

Lewis trained for a World Heavyweight Championship Fight for MONTHS… Vitali trained for a World Heavyweight Championship Fight for less than 2 weeks. He was a late sub.

Vitali fought until he was 42… Lewis until he was 37.

lewis didn’t give rahman a rematch rahman gave lewis a rematch remember HR was the champ. lewis-mcall was for the vacant wbc that was almost three after their first fight. that was not a rematch on lewis part. holyfield-lewis ended in a draw so they had to settle the score which they both wanted. the only rematch that lewis wanted was with tyson. after lewis gave tyson a very a beating and tyson didn’t want to fight anymore lewis wanted to take tyson to court for a rematch.

Posted August 8, 2014 12:37 pm

Vitali has no legacy. Just a belt holder known most for a loss.

Posted August 8, 2014 12:37 pm

Sredmond: Actually Lewis penalized the fans by waiting eight months while sitting on his belt as it were and then saying that was it without fighting Johnson or Vitali. All involved were shocked with the WBC demanding the fight and all others of pertinence doing the same. Just goes to show you what fear for your legacy can do to a person. Lewis did the right thing considering his legacy did not need any more diminution.

Posted August 8, 2014 12:21 pm

Posted August 8, 2014 12:05 pm

Johnson was bribed to get lewis out of shape and unprepared and vitali still lost. Lewis was expected to retire after tyson anyway

Wes, did Lewis not have to take McCall to court in order to get a rematch was there not litigation? maybe I am wrong?? That said who’s fault is it that McCall fell apart? should Lewis have given him a psychiatric evaluation before punching him in the face? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Posted August 8, 2014 11:27 am

James Blond, at the end of the day Vitali and Lewis shared the ring together.. Its natural to want to see a good scrap again but alas this did not happen… We are SOOOOO accustomed to seeing fighters box LONG after their prime and retiring is a standing joke…Obviously Lewis took the road less travelled and said enough is enough which is NOT a crime… You and others can sit in your arm chairs and decide “he did not have enough money” “he did not have enough glory” “he should have fought Vitali again” and the reality is that you will NEVER please everyone so Lewis pleased himself… Blame lies with Klitschko who could have KNOCKED Lewis out or defended well enough to outbox him if possible over the last 6 rounds… Not every bout ends in a rematch and this was simply one of them…

Posted August 8, 2014 11:26 am

their a lie being spread by a couple of posters.they claim that lewis immediatley fought mccall again after the you call 2.5 years immediatley 9-24-94 to 2-7-97. you see guys on here from both side talk s***. hoping no one call them out with the b.s. that was not no great victory for lewis. mccall cry like a baby for no reason to a point that they had to stop the fight not because of anything lewis did. lewis was not going to knocking iron chin mccall out.

Posted August 8, 2014 11:24 am

James Blond

Sredmond: Lewis wanted to continue fighting this is where Kirk Johnson comes in. Johnson, however, was taken out by Vitali who then became the official mandatory challenger for the WBC champion. Not until VK became the mandatory did Lewis decide to quit, up until then he was still ready to fight and carry on with his career. The was the way it was and it is the reason why fans worldwide could not understand this decision by Lennox that left so many with the feeling this was not the proper manner to conclude a career. Leaving us hanging so to speak was not the way to end it and we the fans to this day are not reconciled with this scenario.

Posted August 8, 2014 11:20 am

The status of the first fight was PLENTY conclusive, let me review.. Lewis TKOed Vitali via cuts inflicted by his fists.. It happens in boxing and lets face it to get that many injuries Vitali was NOT defending well enough… Trying to author a fight where Klits sustains no visible damage is convenient and childish… Boxing is a blood and guts sport, Cut men are on retainer because thudding blows to the face and delicate tissues surrounding the eyes can cause contusions, bleeding and serious lacerations… Vitali endured these injuries and was forced out of the bout because like a Race Car with bad Wheels he could not finish… Case Closed let the man try and do better with the Ukraine there are some HOT broads coming out of that region…

Posted August 8, 2014 11:10 am

James Blond, statements in the ring after a fight are what they are… The man is exhausted he has been getting hit in the head and just like you cannot sign for a rematch in the ring, you have to sit down and discuss… Lewis took a shower, looked as his career, life etc and did what was BEST for him as a longstanding Champion who earned that right…”Pinky Promises” postfight mean NADA… Lennox was done with boxing and unlike 99% of boxers he stayed true to his retirement and moved on with his life… Much to the chagrin of Klit fans who wanted Vitali to get innumerable shots at older and older versions of Lewis…

Look everything would have been much less complicated had LL not stated on live TV right after the fight that he was prepared to give VK a rematch. This was followed by LL willingness to fight Kirk Johnson his WBC mandatory, when Johnson faded (knocked out by Vitali) Vitali was therewith the new mandatory yet Lewis chose to retire instead of fighting as planned thus bringing about the unhappy and inconclusive status that most of us are not satisfied with to this day.

Posted August 8, 2014 10:47 am

My point is he is not a credible major and has a very dodgy mandate

Posted August 8, 2014 10:46 am

Lewis was NOT “afraid of Vitali” he knew he could handle the arm puncher… If that were the case then why the hell would he have fought Rahman and McCall immediately when ONE knocked him COLD and the other got a TKO win over him??? All Klits did is show that he could front run, produce slight drama and that his face could not hold up under the barrage of punches coming from the Old man… Lewis was the RISING TIDE as the older fighter which betrayed Klits weakness once he had a guy in there he could not box from a safe distance and grind down with his bulk… Vitali would have been reduced to Primordial Oooze if that bout had been allowed to continue much longer…

Posted August 8, 2014 10:40 am

Lewis retired at 37 after making MORE $$$ than Vitali and winning MORE belts, beating MORE HOF fighters including Klits… Klit fans like Tark like to forget that Vitali took off 4 years whereas Lewis fought all the way thru… Had Vitali not comeback he would have been totally forgotten he did not even start really facing Top 10 guys till his return that began with beating Fat Sammy Peter…Lewis career was light years ahead and he was able to retire with a complete legacy… Not selling the virtues of Manny Charr and Derek Chisora…

James blond – ukraine is killing its own people at the moment and vitali supports this. He only got in at the third attempt by the back door after riots and war ffs.

Posted August 8, 2014 10:29 am

Lewis did NOT have to give Vitali a tournament to try and get a win… Klitschko was a LATE replacement he had to get it done THAT NIGHT… Letting Lewis bang his face into burger was a life changing decision that forever relegated him to the role of and “Also Ran” he NEVER Unified nor was really Top Dog at HW, he was in the background while Wlad cobbled together a stronger legacy than him… Winning 4 rounds off Lewis is NOT worthy of God Like mention especially with the type of beating he took while getting the points….

Posted August 8, 2014 10:28 am

James Blond, Klits political activities cannot bolster his ring resume.. He may go one to wear a mask and cape while saving the Ukraine but his retirement as a boxer was uneventful ending with beating the LOWLY Manuel Charr via Cut off all things!!! I am surprised he did NOT hand back his victory and offer Charr a rematch?? LMAO…. Klits was a very solid HW and HOFER but he is nobodys ATG not with that resume…

The Lewis era was a mess aswell. Everyone ducking everyone else so the proper matchups never got made. Lewis never fought Tyson or Holyfield or Bowe in their primes. Tyson fought NO ONE in their primes and when he did finally step up he was destroyed both times and beaten up badly. Bowe and Lewis ruined the lineage and created a mess until this day.

Some refried brain of a poster claimed that Vitali left boxing and nobody noticed. In fact people did indeed notice. His activities in Maidan square and his efforts for his country are in the international news as I write. Compare this to Lennox Lewis who does a feeble job of commentating boxing matches off and on when he can find the work but other wise lives a life of barren insignificance composed mainly of the seclusion of his mansion and basic anonymity and perhaps watching his favorite animated cartoons on TV. Meanwhile VK is doing his best to balance his job as mayor of the capitol city of the Ukraine and his business enterprises plus being a family man. Two worlds.

Posted August 8, 2014 7:31 am

Bottom line–Lewis knew his win was only on paper. He knew he could do a rematch and silence any critics or doubters. He knew he could do away with this guy Klitschko. What DID he do?? He retired. He chose the coward’s way out. How his supporters try to rationalize this fact is almost comical.

People are not contesting that Vitali was „busted up“ what is being called into question here is something entirely different namely why Lenny hightailed it and or why the “Lion” did not keep his word and allow for the rematch. Considering that LL was ready to continue his career only he was not, evidently, prepared to do this with a Klitschko in the ring. This is the way it looks to many if not most observers and fans.

Vitali quit at 42… A reasonable age to quit to become mayor of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. Unlike Pacquiao he’s not a part-time politician.

Lewis was 37 vs Vitali and said he was going to keep fighting… until he found out he would be stripped of his title if he didn’t fight Vitali.

Posted August 8, 2014 2:28 am

On the subject of Vitali’s face being “messed up” by Lenny, the premature retiree, one can assess that it was one heck of a cut up job by Lewis. He used his talents as a ripper and cutter to the full and it actually accounted for his “win”. Beyond this fact is the fact that Lewis obviously avoided any more ring contact with Vitali after his propitious “win” on cuts brought about by, let’s face it, disputed means.
Lenny was out-boxed although not out-cut, the crowd, the cards, the judges and the folks watching their TV in their vast majority had Vitali the better boxer that night. Why did LL go back on his word to give VK a fighting chance in a rematch? Simply said Lenny feared for his already doubtful legacy. Lennox was a warrior but he was also an egotist and did not wish to leave boxing with a defeat on his already spotted record. This was the fear that motivated Lenny not his fear of boxing again.

Lying assed Bla says.., “Ran from Eddie a Chambers is incorrect. Fought like a scared byatch for 12 rounds is more accurate.”

There was only one (1) boxer in that ring making the fight… There was only one (1) boxer in that ring trying for the KO… That was Wladimir Klitschko.

Chambers wasn’t trying to win… He wasn’t trying to do ANYTHING but survive for 12 rounds… He didn’t make it.

Posted August 7, 2014 6:19 pm

Wladimir beat Chris Byrd twice — winning every round of both fights over the feather punching Byrd, and KOiing him.

Vitali was miles ahead of Byrd, but suffered a torn rotator cuff in the 2nd round… Around the 7th round he said he felt something snap in his back… He wanted to finish the fight but thought the injury might destroy his entire career. It was his rotator cuff tearing in two… The massive injury required extensive surgery.

Vitali’s rotator cuff tore again versus Chisora… but the injury wasn’t nearly as bad — and VK was able to get through the Chisora fight using only his right hand.

Ran from Eddie a Chambers is incorrect. Fought like a scared byatch for 12 rounds is more accurate.

They fought one Atg between them and got stopped, facts. Chris Bird stopped Vitali, facts get over them.

You mean that night against defense-minded Eddie Chambers, whom Wlad chasedall night and wasn’t satisfied until he sparked Eddie (which he did, becoming the first and only man to do so). Is this the “cowardly” display you refer to? If yes, could you please enlighten us as to how chasing a defense minded and slippery fighter from beginning to end, and eventually knocking said fighter unconscious, constitutes as to being a “coward” in your book? We’re all most intrigued to find out

Posted August 7, 2014 6:07 pm

Stupid Bla claims.., “Vlad ran all night from EDDIE CHAMBERS!!!!”

HAH!!! NO he didn’t… and he won every ROUND!!!

Wadimir controlled the center of the ring, keeping the fight at his best punching range… Chambers fought extremely defensively – but DIDN’T escape the KO … The best one-punch, precision left hook KO you’ll ever see.

The ONLY KO Chambers ever suffered in his LIFE!!!

Posted August 7, 2014 6:05 pm

There isno shame in being stopped by Lennox Lewis. But there is complete shame in being stopped by Chri Bird!!! Who else did Chris stop apart from Vitali? Vitali said the Chris Bird punches like Earnie Shavers so he had no choice.

Posted August 7, 2014 6:04 pm

I mean like hoe Vlad ran all night from EDDIE CHAMBERS!!!! Lewis was masterful vs the very dangerous Tua and put him in place with hurtful body shots. Facts the Klits have fought one Atg and got stopped fighting that Atg. Twisting facts, lying, fantasising won’t change history. Lennox Lewis stopped VItali, who is in most people’s top 70 heavyweights ever.

Bla, you mean cowardly like the night Lewis just back peddled all night long, jabbing and hugging human butterball Tua all night, a man he towered over, without so much of a whiff of. ever opening up?

Co-sign on all the points wes made. Well said. My 2 cents by the way. ThisWlad would iceany version of Lewis within 4 rounds. VK was still somewhat lacking big fight experience that night against Lewis and Still was outboxing him for the majority. A rematch and VK would have surely parked Lewis. Lewis knew this. So did his momma. Andso do most sane boxing fanswithout an agenda

Posted August 7, 2014 5:45 pm

Kim, what about Vlad rematching those that ko’d him instead of getting his tougher brother to do so. Lewis rematched as soon as he could when defeated. George Foreman says he is the greatest ever….. You must know more than Big George.

Posted August 7, 2014 5:44 pm

Wes to be stars they need to be spectacular. Did you actually see Vlad vs Ibragimov at MSG? That arena never saw such a cowardly display as a man hitting a man’s hand down!!! Sorry they had the chance and it was blown big time!!

Posted August 7, 2014 5:40 pm

the klitschkos to get a large ppv in america they need to fight a american star.someone really good with a large american fan base. they can’t fight your usally euro heavy or an aveage american. if wilder ko stiverne in big fashion like within two rounds. wk-wilder would be hugh.

Posted August 7, 2014 5:30 pm

you did not see lewis fouling vitali. just like the british didn’t see tyson fury fouling cummingham. fans only see what they want to see. i suppose holyfield is a clean fighter never use his head in fight.

Posted August 7, 2014 5:19 pm

oh i forgot does your crysal ball say how big the fight was going to be. i know it said what fighters can hang out in the 90’s. you should go vegas you would clean up over there. since your knowledge and insight and perdiction on target.

Posted August 7, 2014 5:10 pm

SREDMOND–Forget the money. What about pride. Lennox could have had the chance to beat Vitali again. A rematch a lot of people wanted. And, according to you Lewis would win. That tells me he is gutless. Even his momma talked him out of it. That fight would have sold anywhere, but forget the money. Lennox suddenly decided he was not fighting again. Hmmmmm—-

Posted August 7, 2014 5:07 pm

that late replacement as you refer to impress the world. nobody expected him to look that good in the fight. he became a star that night even going on the j leno show. won the americans who watch the fight live in california. the world wanted to see more that where the 50 million come in. only people that weren’t impress was sedmond and nameless and a few other,

Posted August 7, 2014 5:04 pm

where did i say 50/50 spit. you said that. i don’t know if lewis was going to get 50 million or the purse was 50 million.any how lewis would have got the large part of the 50 million purse vitali alot less.

Posted August 7, 2014 4:53 pm

anyway that what i read at the time. the # 50 million was throw out there. vitali came off as a star in that fight. he was on jay leno tonight show the next day.

Posted August 7, 2014 4:50 pm

50 mill would have been one of the biggest purses in HISTORY between Vitali and a LATE REPLACEMENT???? That’s nonsense and just more folklore created by Klit nation because they cannot own the credit that Vitali is NOT getting because he came up short against Lewis…

Posted August 7, 2014 4:42 pm

Wes, you are simply inventing that number in order to make the situation seem like the amount of money was something that Lewis could not rightfully pass on and your theory sounds even more phony because you propose a 50/50 split when Lewis was the champ and about 50x more popular than Vitali who cannot sell or give away bout in the US… And NO I did NOT see Lennox doing anything other than seeking to bust Vitali up, the right hands he landed looked CLEAR to me… All these EXCUSES about some sort of stealth assault on Vitali make me LAUGH he got his face bashed in on TV…

Posted August 7, 2014 4:39 pm

Some weird logic going on here. Vitali’s beaten up face retired Lewis?!!! Tark, who won the last 2 rounds on all scorecards? Who was coming on stronger? Why has the US never taken to the Klits? They tried and look what happened with Vlad vs Ibragimov?!

Posted August 7, 2014 4:35 pm

i guess you only see what you want to see. sedmond is aways right everybody who disagree is wrong.

Posted August 7, 2014 4:11 pm

so your video doesn’t show lewis digging his head on vitali eye. i sure did enough to be piss off at lewis.

Posted August 7, 2014 4:06 pm

vitali is not a 50 million dollars fighter. but purse for the fight would have been 50 million. how they split it up i don’t know. that the only big fight vitali would have had him and lewis.

Posted August 7, 2014 4:01 pm

yes sredmond i did not care for vitali kicking lewis for being a gentlemen. poor sportman on vitali park.

Jim, why did Vitali let his face get bashed in by “A Yellow and Gutless fighter” this automatically calls Vitali’s character and quality as a boxer into question.. Because when all is said and done the Lion got his hand raised and the Klit got sent to the surgeon..

Posted August 7, 2014 3:39 pm

SREDMOND—Lennox is a yellow dog. Gutless.

Posted August 7, 2014 3:30 pm

Too quickly. Does that apply to all?

Posted August 7, 2014 3:29 pm

why dont the klit sisters fight in America.

Posted August 7, 2014 3:28 pm

Wes, do you REALLY want to try and sell Vitalis excuse for why his face got blasted open? I NEVER listen to the whimpering and excuses of losing boxers when I have video showing a guy getting punched straight in the face.. Lewis masterfully increasing the wound with hard shots is the work of a cruel veteran who was supposed to send the spirited upstart back to the HELL of contender status… Klits could NOT cut it…

Posted August 7, 2014 3:16 pm

Wes, 50 million for WHO? Mayweathers biggest guaranteed purse in 2013 was 41.5 mill there is NO WAY that type of money was on the line… Coming from WHERE? There was and NEVER has been that type of interest in a Klits fight in the US… These inflated, speculative numbers are of NO import because at the end of the day Lewis was satisfied with his career and legacy and he retired ON TOP and is STILL a rich man by all accounts….If Vitali could bring in SO much $$$$$ as a late replacement then why could he NOT bring in these FANTASY 50 million dollar paydays as WBC Champion?? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Posted August 7, 2014 3:14 pm

even if it wasn’t going to be as big as tyson-lewis or holyfield -lewis it still was to to be hugh. make no mistake about that. i hear talk of something like 50 million.

Posted August 7, 2014 3:00 pm

Lewis didn’t end McCall in “short order.” … McCall was a tough guy who was never floored. Obviously he was mentally incapacitated in the rematch, a tragic happening for him.

That was the only reason the fight was stopped. McCall had a mental breakdown.

Hasim Rahman was a 2nd rate boxer who even got knocked out twice by chinny 39-year-old Oleg Maskaev… Sam Peter blew through Maskaev like he wasn’t even there…

Rahman got super lucky and landed a perfect punch on Lewis.. Sht happens.. Obviously Lewis’s win over Rahman means little.

Oliver McCall stretched huge Henry Akinwande with exactly the same punch he nailed Lewis with… With Akinwande he was way behind late in the fight… He was a big hitter.

Posted August 7, 2014 2:58 pm

if i remember about those 5 wounds. when the cut appear every time they clich lewis dug this head on vitali cut to make it bigger than what is was. in the post fight interview vitali in his bad english keep saying his head, his head. larry m. thought vitali was saying he got headbutted.what he meant was this guy was fouling me digging that dam head in my face.

Posted August 7, 2014 2:56 pm

Tark, NOT even close to the biggest fight HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Lewis did a TON of biz with Holyfied and Tyson no one even knew Vitali and the lifespan of his relevance in the US was EXACTLY ONE fight because after that this country would not pay for his boxing and he was exiled to Germany in order to jab his smaller foes to death…

Posted August 7, 2014 2:50 pm

Jim, I don’t “rationalize Lewis losses” fact is that he LOST… He was stopped and TKOed case closed.. Klit fans are the ones with excuses about injuries, poison, conspiracies and gassing… Do you see how below you deem the fight ending wounds Vitali received as “lucky” meanwhile that’s the reason he had a CUT man in his corner because that is part of boxing..

Posted August 7, 2014 2:49 pm

Lewis-Klitschko was THE FIGHT at heavyweight. Obviously the biggest fight of the decade.

Meaning the REMATCH of course.

Posted August 7, 2014 2:47 pm

Jim, I disagree Lewis had earned the right to move on with his life and career… Vitali got a shot and came up SHORT! when Rahman and McCall took his title he promptly rematched them and finished them in short order… Your desire is to author an outcome where Klitschko got the win and that’s unfortunate for you…Lewis did NOT “get lucky with the cut” and your skewed interpretation demands you be inaccurate there were FIVE NOT ONE but FIVE distinct wounds wrought by the hands of Lewis… Fact is that Vitalis face was not holding up well under those right hands and it was not Lewis job to allow him to get patched up and then try again… Klits should have covered up!

Posted August 7, 2014 2:46 pm

With less than 2 weeks to promote Lewis-Klitschko it was still a big success.

The way the fight ended. The way the 1st two rounds went. How the crowd loved Klitschko… and the fact that Vitali was winning on ALL SCORECARDS… meant the rematch would have blown out all PPV records… The anticipation around the world was MASSIVE!!!

Everybody knew Mike Tyson was a terrible matchup for Lewis.. Tyson was the younger man and couldn’t do diddly-squat to him.. Lewis-Klitschko was THE FIGHT at heavyweight. Obviously the biggest fight of the decade.

So Sredmond is just showing his hatred for Eastern Europeans again — something 90% of his posts are about.

Posted August 7, 2014 2:46 pm

Jim: Sred is totally focused on himself thru Lewis. There is no getting thru to this guy, he is lost in a world of his own making.

Posted August 7, 2014 2:37 pm

SREDMOND– Lets put money aside. Lennox should have WANTED a rematch to show his superiority over Vitali. I think the way he retired was gutless under the circumstances. Many people had Klitschko ahead in the fight, and many more think Klitschko would beat him in a rematch. If I am Lennox Lewis, I am taking that fight to show the people who would win. Unless of course Lennox knew he couldn’t win. He got lucky with the cut and knew better than to risk a rematch. I know it and you know it. The funny thing, no matter what Klitschko does, no matter who he beats, you will apply some twisted analogy to make it unfavorable. You just refuse to give certain fighters their credit, and rationalize your fighter’s wins/losses.

Posted August 7, 2014 2:27 pm

Perdun Did you say Lenny would win on cuts? You may be on to something.

Posted August 7, 2014 2:02 pm

A prime Lennox would have KOd Wlad and beaten vitali on points or cuts, IMO. I miss the slugfest s of, say, Foreman-Lyle. More than than the hw stuff now.

Posted August 7, 2014 1:43 pm

sredmond, a rematch with Vitali for Lewis had huge interest at the time and would have certainly been on PPV. This would have easily been Lewis’s second biggest payday after the Tyson fight. Arguably as big or even bigger then Lewis’s payday against Tyson as the terms would have been In Lewis’s favor percentage wise. As well site fees had been going up steadily and a bidding war between MSG, Staples center and Las Vegas could have easily made the match equal to Lewis-Tyson in terms of revenue. Add to that one network, HBO would have exclusive rights and Showtime would not split the coverage and take part of the revenue and a rematch with Vitali depending on PPV buys which I think would have been huge could have easily made this Lennox’s biggest payday. Face it Lewis was not getting back in the ring with Vitali for any amount of money he knew he had survived the storm and wanted no part of Vitali Klitschko again.

Posted August 7, 2014 1:39 pm

Jim, you have shown me the type of ignorance that really does not warrant a response but I am feeling kind… Vitali was NOT even close to the “biggest money fight of his career” Tyson trumped whatever was available for a Vitali fight by 10’s of millions… Was the first fight even on PPV? Vitali was NOT and is NOT an attraction on US soil when he tried a PPV later on it did around 100k buys and HBO officially moved out of the Vitali Klits business… Has Lewis ever comeback and boxed because he is dire straits? apparently he has ENOUGH money and knew his time at the top was OVER… Klitschko got a shot and he was NOT good enough to capitalize, he arm punched well for a couple rounds and then the damage mounted and he was shown the showers and the surgeon… FACT is that Lewis was FAR more important to Klits career than Klits was to Lewis! Vitali was a LATE replacement for Kirk Johnson not some sort of household name and he never became one in the US… Sorry for the tutorial

Posted August 7, 2014 1:21 pm

SREDMOND– Why on earth did Lennox pass up possibly the biggest money fight of his career with a Vitali rematch. The answer is very simple–he knows Klitschko would spank him again. Lennox should be very thankful for the cut in that fight. Vitali retired him, plain and simple. Even Lennox’s mamma would not let her boy come back to fight Vitali. Lennox’s inaction speaks volumes. As I have said, your analysis of fighters is very convenient to your own guys, and it is very obvious. What is good for your guy is not good for my guy. You do not judge things impartially at all.

Posted August 7, 2014 1:06 pm

Ukranian fighter, Vitalis schedule was a CAKE WALK compared to Lewis and if he (Lennox) was such an “accident waiting to happen” then why did Klitschko end up LOOKING like the guy who was in an accident? if Lewis was this vulnerable guy all the time then why at his OLDEST and FASTEST was Klits face only able to go 6 sad rounds?? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

I think wlad is a joke yes. What the hell was that man hug session against poventkin? Why no drugs testing other than his own bribed german agency? Who even here has seen the french tyson, the polish freak or that italian cop or the fat aussie fight before or since? The man is a joke just being a t greedy unethical scumbag and yet claiming he cares what is good for boxing. What a fake clown. Lewis would have sparked him in 3 rounds if wlad wasnt getting decked every other fight when he was still active. Also vitali has been down and pele reid sparked him and so did numerous sparring partners. Vitali retired nobody cared. Wlad is fighting still and nobody outside the germans care. But lets not forget the hoff sells out in germany!

Lewis was basically a knock waiting to happen unlike Vitali who was never off his feet or even behind in a fight. Even Wlad was never knocked out in the classic sense. The K-2’s will be the high point of heavyweight boxing for a long, long time to come. Lewis is at best a champion with flaws, a footnote champion if you will.

Posted August 7, 2014 12:04 pm

The fight Vitali vs. Lenny was won not by the better boxer but rather by the better cutter. In other words Lewis won by a cut not by being the better fighter in the ring. A sequel would have done much to clear the air but Lenny would have no part of that.

Posted August 7, 2014 11:56 am

sredmond, you are a great know how to write. even though there are times i don’t agree with you. but you are very smart.

Posted August 7, 2014 11:55 am

SREDMOND– I seem to recall the immortal Lennox Lewis getting waxed a couple of times– worse than any Wladimir loss. Your excuses are classic: if Lewis lost, it was a fluke–if Lewis won, he is great. If Wladimir wins, he beat a nobody. Your arguments seem to only apply when they are convenient to you guys. Lewis retired rather than face Vitali again, and that is no secret. Who did Lewis beat–a washed up Tyson that PeterMcneilly beat? Rahman iced Lewis–BUT– when Wladimir iced Rahman, he was over the hill according to you. SREDMOND, it seems that your logic and reasoning only applies to the guys you like. I wonder if anybody else noticed that.

no one said rahman was a massive victory for wk. he was klitschko mandatory when the real mandatory pull out. wladimir didn’t even wanted to fight him.

your boy nameless did.

Posted August 7, 2014 10:57 am

Wlad fought Rahman 8 years and 4 losses (2 by stoppage) and 2 draws AFTER Lennox Lewis… The second fight was a wipeout where Lennox simply sent him packing with a crushing combo that exacted his revenge…

Posted August 7, 2014 10:55 am

Wes NO ONE said that Wlad is a “Joke” is he beating anyone of real note? NO I think Wlad is a very talented and dangerous big man that said his foes often have little street cred…

Posted August 7, 2014 10:53 am

Rahman had an NC against Toney prior to fighting Wlad he was 36 years old and after getting stopped by Lewis, Losing to Holyfield, having a draw with Tua and losing to Ruiz he beat a succession of C list HW’s before a draw against Toney, a TKO loss to Maskaev and then followed by wins against scrubs like Sykes and Zuri Lawrence… Rahman was not some sort of massive victory for Wlad he was a fighter who was losing everytime he looked like he was stepping up at that point… Said that you have to try and sell the Rahman win as epic… Tsk Tsk Tsk

Redmond owning these foolish klit lickers. Good times. Wlad is a joke champion and a cheat in and out if the ring.

Posted August 7, 2014 10:13 am

Povetkin is a Good HW for this ERA but would not have lasted long during the 90’s… He avoided the hell out of Klits for years instead opting to fight with relics like Rahman and Boswell while ekeing out a win against Huck..Again solid fighter but not anyone that will be remembered upon retirement, he ceased fighting relevant contenders YEARS ago ie Pulev, Price before he got exposed etc…Man has been feasting on the scrubs till he got a payday..

Posted August 7, 2014 10:07 am

Peter, did NOT “destroy Toney” he beat Toney who was a pudgy yet skilled BLOWN up MW fighter… Did Peter knock out Toney? Hell NO so your “destroyed thesis” is a joke and Toneys career at HW is an afterthought when positioned against his days as “James Lights Out Toney” in the 160’s….

Posted August 7, 2014 10:03 am

Samuel Peter will NEVER be regarded as “one of the divisions hardest punchers” that’s simply a joke… Peter at his best was a B level HW who showed some slight improvement but was undisciplined and NOW forgotten… Chris Byrd was a very good and slick technical fighter that did not offer much of a threat level because he could not hit and a lacked the toughness of a Holyfied who in his prime could exchange with bigger men and get WINS…Again Byrd dropped down to LHW because he simply could not cut it at HW any longer… Ike Ibeabuchi knocked Byrds block off years before Wlad did…

Posted August 7, 2014 10:02 am

Da Truth

@SRedmond. You like everyone else who hates on the K bros just announce that their opponents are sub par instead of recognising that the K bros just make them look sub par. Look at the good examples 1./ Chris Byrd, slick skillful pacy talented fighter couldn’t win 10 seconds of a round with Wladimir. 2./ Samuel Peter one of the division’s all time hardest punchers and all time strongest chins. He wasn’t hype he was a freaking beast before the Klitschkos got to him. They turned an all out destroyer into a shell of himself because they dominated him so much. The version of James Toney that Peter destroyed was pretty much the exact version of the Toney who got robbed against Rahman, destroyed Holyfield and totally dominated John Ruiz. 3./ Alexander Povetkin, gold medallist amateur stand out terrific technical fighter with proven international pedigree, couldn’t win a round with Wladimir. He would have given Lewis fits.4./ Chagaev beat the biggest heaviest tallest titlist of all time look what happened to him? Don’t sell me the B.S that the 90’s HWs would handle him easily.5./ David Haye probably the best hardest punching cruiserweight of all time couldn’t compete with Wladimir. 6./ Rahman was only a few years removed from being a champion when he fought Wladimir. Hasim was competitive in each round of both fights with Lewis, each one ended in a monster punch in either direction. Wladimir dominated him like f*cking crazy. Look at the guys coming up? Wilder (maybe hardest p4p puncher in history and people still don’t think he stands a chance). These are just the facts. No one in history can touch the K bros. No one comes close. Sure guys like Iron Mike made a much bigger cultural historical impact and were bigger money stars. Guys like Holmes were truly dominant and deserve big time respect for it. But no one can lay claim to what the K bros did. They fought in the toughest era ever, with the biggest and heaviest hardest punching fighters ever and they dominated more than anyone ever has. Modern HWs are the best they have ever been. All that comical hokey old timer style has been replaced by pure amateur pedigree international credential. All the bouncing around posing and posturing might look good in a film but this is REAL TIME SPORT. Fraizer would be a journeyman today.

Posted August 7, 2014 9:50 am

Anyone with half a brain knows that Toney, Donald and Byrd beat a WASHED up version of Evander… He was declared medically unfit and continued to fight LONG past his prime after those bouts.. Chris Byrd had been ALREADY stopped by Ibeabuchi and fact is that Byrd is NOT 1/2 the HW at his peak that Holyfield was…Vitali got TKOED by a NON Peak Lewis while Vitali was prime fighter, Byrd beat a rancid, tired old version of Evander who was 40…. Byrd was a good fighter but no physical threat to Wlad or hardly anyone at HW that’s why he dropped down and ended his career getting KOed at LHW or Cruiser…

Lewis EXCEEDS BOTH Klitschkos by PLENTY and that is why they both have fought without much acclaim during their careers..Vitali retired and really NO ONE noticed outside of Germany these two boxers despite very good statistical records are mere afterthoughts in the boxing landscape… In the US the combination of their boring styles, Wlads TKO losses and a parade of largely forgettable boxers have rendered them “Persona Non Grata” Lennox had to fight for his respect in the US as well but accomplished his goal after bouts with Tyson and Holyfield…Vitali FAILED the family by losing in 6 rounds then having his LESS than savvy fans try and use winning 4 rounds of a 12 rounds fight as proof he was superior to Lewis…Who is Vitalis best win? Sam Peter, what was Wlads best night? Byrd? a very good but undersized Cruiserweight… Wlad can rack up 70 wins against Pianetas, Mormecks and Wachs sadly fewer and fewer care because these unaccomplished HW’s simply don’t inspire… The Klits were around in the 90’s when Bowe, Holy, Lewis and Tyson still roamed but they could make no headway till the rulers of the 90’s aged out of the game…

Chris Byrd beat the shell of Holyfield but at that point Holyfield was long gone.

Da Truth: first-class points. You are correct, Lewis was no hype job on the scale of a Muhammad Ali for instance. Lenny fought and often fought well but his major flaws as a champion or even possible ATG / GOAT were revealed in his failure to avoid being knocked out on two separate occasions and the numerous fights where he just did not fight in a persuasive manner. Bottom line is this he (LL) was better than most, especially in best years, but certainly not as good as the K-brothers at their peak.

Posted August 7, 2014 8:06 am

Da Truth

@ Ukranian fighter. Lewis is not a hype job. He’s a respectable champion. But let’s get real. He doesn’t belong in the conversation with either Klitschko as to who is the ATG. In terms of taking advantage of your physical attributes; height, power, reach etc. Lewis never did consistently. He got iced twice in his career by good tough guys but not ATG world beaters. Badly rocked by lots of lower tier guys, and most importantly was a lazy unpredictable guy who you couldn’t guarantee would discipline himself even if Steward was in his corner. The Klitschko’s once they hit their peak have NEVER been out of shape. Not ever! Lewis’ two wins over a past his best Holyfield don’t measure up in my mind to Wladimir’s two destructions of a peak Chris Byrd (a guy who handily beat Holyfield). His BIG WIN over a shot Mike Tyson is no more significant than Wladimir’s win in the rematch over Peter. And when he fought Vitali he got exposed badly, and chickened out like mad for a rematch the world needed. This messed up the lineage of the title badly for years. People hype Lewis because they need him to be so good so they can say HW boxing died when he retired. The standard dwindled a little but then went up big time. Guys like Tua Grant Briggs (all names back in Lewis’ day) learnt their lesson in the modern era. You have stars from all over the world now who would have giving the 90s champions freaking fits if they had fought. Can you imagine Lewis trying to deal with a Povetkin a Chagaev or a Haye? Lewis is an ATG but he will never compare to the Klitschkos. Just a shame he never fought Wladimir when both active because of the Sanders’ upset. Who by the way had the most devastatingly quick left hook the division has probably ever seen.

Bill Patrice Jones

@Jim. He would get a bad beating but it wouldn’t be like the Ray Mercer fight. Wladimir never fights like that anymore. He looked absolutely awesome against Mercer, and the HBO commentators literally went mad for him that night. Wladimir doesn’t put together those kinds of relentless, diverse, combinations of pure power punches. Now I know he can’t always do that as some guys wont let him. However, in fights like the Eddie Chambers or Ibragimov or Samuel Peter II he should have fought that way. But I suppose why take risks you don’t need to. It keeps him unbeatable. Briggs would get a demoralizing beating by Wladimir, no way he avoids a straight right in rounds 1-2 and that will zap his energy and his self belief Wladimir will clinch him immediately and show him whose the boss physically thereby tiring him out further. This will repeat itself with four or five good right hands being landed by the end of the 3rd or 4th. Then Briggs will just paw his jab and go to the ropes and Wladimir will take his time and cautiously look for that big shot. By the 7th or 8th Brigg’s corner will pull him out, or the referee will wave it off. Either because Briggs didn’t fight back or because Wladimir got him on the canvas and taking a count will be meaningless even if he could beat it. Such an easy fight to predict. Pulev/ Fury/ Haye rematch (if he’s healthy) Wilder and Stiverne are the only really interesting fights in my opinion. Hell a stand up straight bout with Price is more interesting for me. Love to see Wladimir score a big KO over a big man like Price early, with the added drama that however limited Price still has a mega punch.

Posted August 7, 2014 7:02 am

If we can look past these silly publicity stunts by Briggs– a fight with Wladimir would not even be competitive. Briggs would get a bad beating, much like Ray Mercer did against Wlad. And most important, how do you get a title shot when your last 4 opponents were nothing more than club fighters? Not ONE ranked guy in there. We all need to just quit talking about this circus stuntman Briggs. There are much more worthy fighters out there that have earned shots in the ring– not with their mouths.

Lewis the fallible champion with the question marks that just won’t go away. Why did Lewis have to fight Holyfield twice ( 24 rounds) without really being able to dominate this cruiserweight? Why did Mercer say “I think I won the fight”? Was Mercer robbed? Was Lewis simply lucky or was favoritism in play? Why was Lewis, the would be best boxer in his era, knocked out not once but twice? Is that what champions are supposed to do, get knocked out? Why did Lewis wait so long to confront Tyson? More “cowardly lion” coming thru the facade? Why was Lewis prepared to fight Kirk Johnson but not Vitali Klitschko instead retiring in a hurry once VK was Lenny’s mandatory in place of Johnson? Why did Lewis avoid Foreman and Sanders to name two very intriguing match ups? So many questions and the Lewis legacy just looks less and less like so many devote followers of Lewis would like it to be or appear. So sad. Hahahaha….. One last question, why did Lewis not man up and give Vitali a rematch as promised in the ring while being interviewed on national TV after that marginal win on a ”cut “? I know why, do you?

Not in a boxing match… Wladimir isn’t fighting this bum.

Wlad has to get ready for Kubrat Pulev — then Deontay Wilder. They can fight.

the manner in which Lewis’ losses unfolded into redemptive wins only adds to the luster of his ATG ring-legacy. you have to micro-scrutinize Lewis’ profile to discern something less than perfection. he was the very best of his era.

Sredmond, “Gym rat- stfu lewis earned his pipe and slippers.”

Lewis was forced to don them by Vitali Klitschko. He said many times he was going to continue fighting – until it became clear that he would be stripped if he didn’t fight Vitali, the number one contender.

No only would he have earned far more money going ahead with the ORDERED rematch, he would have garnered far more respect too. But Lewis isn’t caught out of such cloth. He doesn’t have the “stuff” that makes legends cause legends don’t allow themselves to be chased into retirement and have there last fight ending in a chorus of boos, instead chasing a far more easy pay day. Those who defend Lewis, mostly Britons I’d imagine, are clearly made of the same stuff too. All mouth and no trousers.

What’s in the history books? LL beats VK via controversial stoppage. Still a ‘W’ for Lewis. What else is in the history books? LL looking for a final payday in a rematch against Tyson. Chasing this fight. However, when VK is remains no 1 and mandatory challenger to Lewis BECAUSE of the CONTROVERSIAL nature of the win, Lewis BALKS and retires. What does that tell you? Yellow? Scared? All mouth and no trousers? “I’ll give him a rematch if the money is right” is what Lewis said post fight. He would have earned FAR more in this intriguing rematch than over a 2nd fight against Tyson, a man who he already pulverized 7 rounds to one with a clean knock out at the end.

Ukrainian fighter, Vitali fought one Atg and got stopped with terrible facial injuries. Deal with it. Where does Ross Purity rank?

Posted August 6, 2014 5:20 pm

Ukranian, Lewis LOST and I have NO issue because he avenged BOTH losses.. Your weak attempt at shifting the glory McCall and Rahman enjoyed for ONE evening over to Vitali only begs the question why was Vitali Klitschko UNABLE to win that fight?????? Why was he covered in blood, swallowing blood and in need of surgical intervention after ONLY 6 short rounds??? Vitalis retirement has been met with a YAWN, the man was in no further bouts of consequence post Lewis and made a slew of relatively pedestrian defenses while his BROTHER who has been stopped more than a Junkie waving a bag of crack was the one who ruled the ERA… Vital NEVER carried the division the way that Lewis did he was SECOND fiddle and thus his career is that of a solid HOF but not even a Top 15 HW whereas Lewis is one of the best to ever do it and he retired ON TOP not as a WBC beltholder while ANOTHER man cornered all the realestate…

Posted August 6, 2014 4:57 pm

I don’t understand why Shannon feels he’s in a position for a title shot. This is coming from a fan of his. Took a 4 year layoff , fights 4 straight bums , now he feels he’s in line. Hell even deontay wilder (who specifically feasts on a steady diet of tomato cans) has done more lately to warrant a shot. Shannon needs to at least beat someone in the top 10 before we can even BEGIN the conversation to see if he’s indeed “back”.

#2 guys guys guys. The Lennox Lewis vs. Vitali Klitschko fight was over 11 years ago. Give it a rest. Vitali Lost Ok, Deal with it!!! Arguing about it now is as ridiculous as arguing who would’ve won between Wladimir Klitschko vs . Davarryl williamson. Wlad went down in that fight & was down on one of the judges scorecard. Fight ended on an injury but the fight was getting interesting and they were exchanging. Would wlad have gassed out? Or would he have taken Touch of sleep out in later rounds. We’ll never know and it DOES NOT MATTER. Wlad got the win. THE END. Likewise, LL connected with NUMEROUS rights to have vitali looking like 2-face from batman or phantom of the opera. Who cares if he was down in the cards. IF you boxrec vitali klitschko on his record next to LL is a big red “L”. Deal with it and move on.

Sredmond look at those photos of your idol laid out on his back by both McCall and Rahman two less than ATG’s. Something you no doubt cannot endure without breaking out in a cold sweat or tears. Now ask yourself is this how a champion is supposed to look? Now think back and realize how Vitali Klitschko who never behind in a fight, never down in a fight and never knocked out and was able to leave boxing with this state of affairs undiminished and untarnished compares to Lenny and his inconsistent career as a fighter. Vitali a true champion not like the “Lion” who was all set to enter in to an upcoming fight vs. Kirk Johnson until Vitali knocked him in to next Tuesday and became the Mandatory for Lewis which Lewis interpreted as his cue to leave boxing forever and a day. Some champ, but at least Lennox did not have to face his worst nightmare. Problem with Lenny’s move is covered by that old saying “a coward dies a thousand deaths a soldier but once”.

Posted August 6, 2014 4:42 pm

James Blonde, you have been owned by Sredmond. Give it up, your fragile psyche is getting the same beating as Vitali’s face. There were 6 rounds left and guess who was coming on stronger and won the last 2 rounds? Anyway you and Tark are not doing too well in trying to lie….

Posted August 6, 2014 4:11 pm

James Blond you are ALSO incorrect when you say “Vital was Undefeated” NOT on this round orb we call Earth! He has 2 losses TKO’s ONE where he QUIT the other where a better, tougher fighter wrought havoc on his face… Klits has a fine record against the C list boxers he mostly defeated but he is NOT Marciano who was 49-0…. Try and be accurate the MORE you LIE about what is actually verifiable the worse it is for Klits..

Posted August 6, 2014 3:58 pm

James Blond, Lewis did NOT need to fight again! He was RICH, HEALTHY and he had already defeated EVERY boxer he ever faced, He was also Undisputed HW Champion which is a distinction that Vitali NEVER enjoyed and never will… The peak of Klits career was getting a WBC belt off of SLOPPY Samuel Peter after a layoff and then having a string of forgettable defenses against lames, leftovers and Cruiserweights with no HW credentials…. Vitali fought till he was in his 40’s against guys that would have lasted a few rounds with Lewis like Briggs (who Lenny CAPPED quick) or Sosnowski, Kevin Johnson, Adamek who would have been gone in 3 rounds like his fellow Pole Golota, Derek Chisora who Cruiserweight Haye leveled in 5 short rounds… Meanwhile a sloppy Lewis sent a prime Vitali to the showers EARLY while giving Klits Plastic Surgeon a financial stimulus package…

Here comes Sred (no surprise) ready to defend the legacy of Lennox the cowardly lion Lewis come hell or high water and damn the facts they are just confusing to a drum beater like Sredmond. All that counts for this Lewis fan boy is Lewis and Sred’s strange view of the world of boxing. “Lewis / Sredmond uber alles” as Sred is wont to say. Lennox won that fight using his laces on VK’s cut not his “banging holes” as Sred would have us believe. NEVER becoming a US star is something one can live with something the majority of stars in the world are living with very well indeed even as I write. Sred the world is bigger than the US of A. All those NEVERS you mention you forgot some, like Vitali was NEVER knocked out like you star boxer and true love (twice to be exact) and Vitali was NEVER knocked down in a fight. Vitali NEVER behind in a fight and he NEVER lost a bout other than by injury. Your overrated HOF is patently meaningless except for a lonely fellow like you Sredmond. Unemployed and living a life of unrequited love for a long ago champion that has better things to do than to waste his time with a loner and fan boy something that has made you what you are and it ain’t pretty. And the best NEVER is that your god, your true love or whatever you deem Lewis to be for you NEVER fought again after Vitali was done with him. Lennox Lewis ran from boxing faster than the hounds could catch him once it was determined that Vitali Klitschko was his mandatory for LL’s upcoming fight which Lewis NEVER showed up for. And while Lewis was in hiding Vitali went on to be undefeated and remain WBC champion for many years with Lewis NEVER even thinking about returning to the ring as long as VK was active and boxing.

since when have FIGHT-related injuries become valid excuses for a loss? they are actually a standard hazard of the trade and even occur during preparation for a bout. the fighter who loses because of cuts is simply determined to be less physically durable. bottomline, inflicting excessive physical damage on an opponent is a legitimate win. four cuts on the face and one in the mouth that required 60 stitches indicates that Lewis was BUSTING Vitali Up but Good and without absorbing comparable damage himself. the only “controversy” or doubt is in the minds of those who either wanted Lewis to lose or Vitali to win. otherwise, it goes down as a final dramatic Win for Lewis v. a “substitute” who eventually became the dominant heavyweight of his era AFter losing to Lewis.

Posted August 6, 2014 1:58 pm

The Bryd injury was incidental to the Vitali-Byrd fight… It was a freak injury that happened in the 2nd round and got steadily worse… Vitali was still way ahead on points — but decided to take a loss rather than risk permanent damage to his rotator cuff assembly that might be with him for the rest of his career.

As it was… the rotator cuff was ripped in 2 and required extensive surgery.

The deep slashes on Vitali’s face were caused by the palm of Lewis’s right glove — and the video evidence fully supports that.

Posted August 6, 2014 1:54 pm

Vitali really lost the Chris Byrd fight… That can happen to anybody… Vitali’s rotator cuff was torn apart in into 2 pieces… He needed extensive surgery… You know JACK SHlT about it…

But you lie continuously saying it was a phantom injury that Vitali made up to get out of the fight — because you HATE the Klitschko Bros and any other Eastern European boxer who does well and holds a World Title… You wish them all ill because you’re a racist hater.

OOOPS he Quit that night Sorry… Lets say Adamek, Lewis had the size and power to hurt and bust his mug up…Its not Lewis NOR the Dr.s fault that Vitali could not keep going it was HIS FAULT… Just like the win he proudly booked against the LOWLY Manuel Charr via cut….

Posted August 6, 2014 1:40 pm

Vitali Klitschko LOST to Lennox Lewis the manner he lost in was NOT revolutionary there was NOT a “Fan Man” there was a “Cut Man” who could NOT patch him up because Lewis kept BANGING holes in his face…Klit fans like Tark seek to change history with LONG tomes about how Vitali gained a moral victory during his 6th round TKO loss to Lewis… Klits NEVER became a US star, NEVER became Undisputed HW Champion and NEVER beat a HOF fighter or a guy with real historical cache… The MONSTER name on his resume is Samuel Peter!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! A forgettable HW who faded into obscurity as he became a full time bloated punching bag…The Scorecards meant NOTHING during the Lewis fight because they were NOT allowed to be factored in, Vitali could NOT stop Lennox from injuring him OVER and OVER with right hand this resulted in a Dr doing for Vitali what he could NOT do for himself (Protecting him) 5 wounds including some INSIDE of his mouth had him slurping blood for 6 rounds… Sadly this is the PINNACLE moment for Klit Nation! a LOSS, and the WORST beating that Vitali EVER took as evidenced by the 60 stitches and AZZ load of Gauze that was used to keep him from passing out from blood loss…

For gosh sakes Sergei Liakhovich beat Briggs for 12 rounds easy and got stupid and got nailed. And Sergei does not hit too hard. Wlad will kill the guy. But……….But, it will never happen. Why a fighter that never has done anything of note in the ring except get KOed gets this much attention. Then again they talk about Rios and Arreola from time to time and they haven’t done much more than Briggs has.

Corrie Sanders, may God rest his soul, was a very talented and powerful hitting heavyweight boxer of special distinction. Comparing Sanders to Briggs however is profoundly difficult with both fighters possessing heavy hands also with brilliant careers to look back on featuring many triumphs with few defeats therefore picking the better fighter is not devoid of a good deal of terra incognita. If these two warriors could have met in the ring this could / would have proven to be one interesting encounter. This sadly did not come to pass. One last thought, the manner in which Mr. Sanders died once again underlines his courage and heroics this time outside the ring. He went down, but like a man, defending his family against homicidal rabble. Great boxer and a extraordinary man who gave all of us outstanding memories.

It is rather amusing to compare Briggs to Sanders in
terms of ” who is the better fighter ” . It is also interesting
to listen to comparisons of Vitaly’s fights with both fighters . But what is completely silly and irresponsible , is
for some very ignorant ” experts ” , to try and demean Sanders , by referring to him as a ” golfer ” !
Cory might have liked golf , and he played it a lot , but
Cory sanders was a fighter and a good one . And one other very crucial yet rarely mentioned aspect of Cory as a fighter, was that he had the best left hand in boxing .
As for comparison ; who was the better fight for Vitaly , there is none : Vitaly vs. Cory , was a fight , a war , while Vitaly vs. Briggs was a massacre , a terrible one sided beatdown , a destruction ! While Cory actually FOUGHT Vitaly and actually rocked him a couple of times , Briggs ,
NEVER even touched Vitaly and was basicly a punching bag in another example of bad officiating ; the referee should have stopped the fight after the eight round . As a
fighter and as a person , I will take Cory Sanders over Briggs EVERYTIME !

Posted August 6, 2014 8:27 am

corry Sanders was a golfer and cab driver. Shannon briggs is

a much better fighter than sanders, Haye, lepai or pianeta.

Lewis Vitali
First of all, a terrific fight.
Vitali surprised viewers, and I think himself, by being able to run with the very good experienced tactical Lewis. Once Vitali knew he could mix it, it was on. He showed no fear and bravely took it up to Lewis. The cut was a shocker, real bad. Lewis was in some trouble but certainly well in the fight when he clinically targeted gash and proceeded to open it further and further. It was good opportunism and finishing by the champ . His tactics and execution were tops. Both were winners in my eyes:Lewis goes out with a win; vit goes from strength to strength.

Briggs has KO’d himself, that is to say by merit of self demolition. Brigg’s capers have earned him the dubious nimbus of a Wiley coyote or perhaps merely a berserk person such as a loose cannon on a roll. Sadly Wladimir Klitschko bears the brunt of Briggs recurrent hysterics / strategy with apparently no end in sight. On the face of it Briggs either has taken the wrong pill again or his repeated head shots at the hands of Vitali that he suffered through have come to horrible fruition? Who really knows, one thing is certain Briggs gives us plenty to ponder.

Tark says – “I’d like to know who fought more top fighters over the last 20 years than the Klitschkos.”
I say top fighters isn’t the same as GREAT fighters, how many GREAT fighters have they fought between them and the answer is 1- LENNOX LEWIS and what happened? DEFEAT, the fact is the level of competition has diminished in the last 20 and by the grace of god they were/are both huge, a big offset of not being the most gifted of boxers.

Tark, I disagree. Wladimir very much with little to no publicity supports many boxers he has both met in the ring or simply who’s situation has been canvassed to him. In Shannon’s unique situation, Wladimir is looking for a way to both fanicially facilitate Brigg’s and also to allow Shannon to regain his pride as a pugilist after his humilation at the the hands of Wladimir’s older brother.

Alexander.., “Wladimir, though annoyed seems to genuinely like and feel sorry for Briggs. I would not be surprised to see Wladimir take this fight so Briggs could get a pay day but leave something off his punches to carry Briggs to give the man some money and dignity back.”

Wladimir is a wonderful man, but he doesn’t like Briggs.. Briggs had big money fights with Foreman, Lewis, Liakhovich, Ibragimov, Vitali and others.. Shannon has more money stashed away than 80% of boxers.

There are plenty of heavyweights who need charity a lot more than Briggs does and Wladimir knows a few… But he doesn’t operate a relief fund.

Briggs hasn’t beaten anyone close to being ranked in many years…because he can’t.. That’s why he’s trying to goad Wladimir into fighting him — to get more stash than he can get from the fights that are still available to his washed up ass.

It’s not going to happen. Wladimir is not going to reward bullying behavior.

I recently saw briggs servicing guys in a restroom for a few $$. go Shannon. you were awesome against Vitaly.

Posted August 5, 2014 9:52 pm

and who was this Nobody that was greater then LL according to Sredmond and fans logic a Mr. Darrol Wilson., go look him up, good luck.

Posted August 5, 2014 8:04 pm

Yep and Briggs was torched in 3 rounds by a nobody and didn’t have the nobody staggering drunk across the ring like a certain LL was. That must mean in Sredmond and some others minds this nobody was better than LL. Fact is in the fight with LL Briggs was throwing bombs and opening himself up, against Vitali he went into survival mode. The final knock down in the LL fight was actually just a wild swinging miss by Briggs he was so out of shape the ref called the fight off.

Posted August 5, 2014 8:02 pm

He did look like a corpse in those pics of Briggs in the hospital. Still, as Greg Cohen screwed him over in their promotional venture, Brigg needing money would no surprise.

Posted August 5, 2014 7:50 pm

Vitali Klitschko carried Briggs on purpose as he wanted to punish Briggs for his trash talk. Vitali Klitschko could have knocked Briggs out in the first round but choose to torture the man. I had never seen Vitali act with such unsportsmenship. Briggs spent many days in the hospital following what Vitali did to him and could have died. Sadly I fear Briggs in is in financial hardship and feels he must do something for his children. Wladimir, though annoyed seems to genuinely like and feel sorry for Briggs. I would not be surprised to see Wladimir take this fight so Briggs could get a pay day but leave something off his punches to carry Briggs to give the man some money and dignity back. I believe Wladimir could leave enough off his punches so that Briggs would not be harmed by the accumulation of punches, but after the horrific beating Vitali put on Briggs how can anyone be sure, Briggs could be completely shot. I know Wladimir does not want to see Briggs harmed so brutally again.

All this talk that Lewis was “passed it”when he squeaked by Vitali. Hello, Lewis only 37 that night and on recent form looked anything but passed it. Wlad is 38 now and still king of the hill. Hell VK was turning 42 while still dominating top contenders.

Vitali certainly had a share in Briggs becoming a boxing non-entity today as well as to becoming less than a serious contender at heavyweight in the box circuit. Albeit as a clown (evil) Briggs does rather well, witness his recent antics involving Wladimir. Interestingly Lewis himself was introduced to the role of a boxing non-entity by Vitali, namely by way of a losing effort of all things. The “lion” quit boxing altogether after Vitali demonstrated his impressive boxing skills (in only six short rounds) for Lewis. Lewis correctly interpreted the message that went out from Vitali’s fists and departed boxing in haste never to be seen again in a boxing ring. Awkward for Lewis is the fact that since this bout he is not infrequently referred to as the “cowardly lion” by boxing aficionados. Finally and perhaps most difficult for Lennox is the fact that he never really was able fully to live down this shameful flight business before the fists of Vitali Klitschko thus effectively leaving LL’s legacy, in the eyes of many fans and perhaps the ex champ himself, effectively tainted.

The manner in which Lewis fouled Vitali is captured on video and can be accessed on Youtube. Without the foul, Lewis could not have won that fight. Don’t try to deny what happened. Only a blind man could not see that foul, and only a crooked/corrupt ref would not have acknowledged it. And no – I am not posting too quickly.

Briggs has a cell phone. He had bird dogs spotting where Wladimir was eating.

Stalkers have all kinds of ways to find you and harass you. It’s unbelievable how they can find where you’re having lunch or where your destination is. Ever see “Cape Fear?”

People don’t realize how valuable publicity is. A lot of people are famous for being famous. Why do you suppose Adrien Broner put those trashy videos of him sitting on the toilet and stuff? … He doesn’t care what anyone says about him – just so they talk about him.

Frustrated promoter.., “These guys couldn’t get arrested.”

Wladimir doesn’t need this BS.. Briggs needs it.. He’s nowhere making nothing.

Gotta go with Sredmond here. Lewis took him out in 5 rounds, Vitali could not get him out of there when he was much older. Vladimir would box ultra cautious/ like he did with the power puncher Eddie Chambers, lol. Also another poster said Lewis has tainted the robots reigns.

He did stagger Lewis early but he wasn’t close to KOing Lewis who recovered pretty quick.

I hope a heavyweight rips the title from Wlad before he retires.

Posted August 5, 2014 1:47 pm

I like the Klitschkos. It’s a real shame that their reigns have been tainted by Lennox Lewis though. Most people would probably go for Vitali as the better overall fighter of the two brothers if they had to pick. And Vitali lost a very close scrap to Lennox, but it was a Lewis that was out of shape and at the final stage of his career. Yet Lewis still won. Lewis took the No.1 spot from Holyfield and Briggs. Douglas took it from Tyson. Tyson ripped it from Spinks etc etc…………..Unfortunately Vitali fought valiantly, losing a close one, and then sort of inherited it from Lewis, a bit like Patterson when Marciano retired. And as a result Floyd wasn’t held in the same regard as Rocky, Louis and Dempsey before him. Well, it didn’t help anyway.

Posted August 5, 2014 1:45 pm

Vitali did one thing that I am sure very few heavyweights have done. he came back to boxing after a 2 year retirement to reclaim a portion of the heavyweight title without so much as a tune up fight. also I think it would be fair to say that Vitali retired the 2nd time without much fanfare in the USA , however his fanfare may have been greater in some other countries.

Boxer: How can you say briggs is on the same level as wlads last oppenents?
He beat povetkin that was a unbaten olympic gold medal winner with a good resume in his own backyard.
Leapai beat a top ten fighter in denis boytsov to become the mandatory for one of wlads belt. Wlad didn’t choose to fight him.
Now he will fight unbeaten kubrat pulev because he’s the nr 1 and mandatory for wlads ibf belt.
Wlad intend to keep all his belt so if briggs want’s a chance he have to fight his way to be a contender, to deserve a fight with wlad and not by begging in his patetic way.
Guys like you should learn more about boxing before writing some sh*t

Sredmond, you are still in total asseveration modality something that has made you so notorious but also indicative of that fallacious bias that seems to pervade your every attempt to pass off untruth and or personal opinion for boxing reality . Lets deal with some facts and leave the opinion option aside for a moment. Lewis was hurting and behind in everything except cuts in that fight. The finally proof for those not in denial is that the Lewis did actually wish to fight again until he realized that Vitali Klitschko would be his mandatory opponent instead of Johnson whereupon Lewis quickly decided to go and lay down on the couch as it were and opt for retirement. Anything but show up for another round in the ring with VK . Vitali, the boxer that chased Lewis out of boxing. Unlike Lewis Vitali was never knocked down in a fight much less knocked out and he was never behind on points in a bout. These are facts Shawn and what do you come at us with, often just a good deal of vituperation and bush-league opinion not to mention your own personal prejudices. Give it rest Sred and realize your views on Lewis are clouded by your own personal passion for this guy (Lewis) and it shows.

Hollow Words James Blond, FACT is that Vitali could NOT stop Briggs when he was a spent fighter who was immobile.. No question that Vitali beat him up but a stoppage early would have been vastly superior to him staying around longer than needed… Lewis sent him on his way QUICK and got the damn thing done when he was 26 I believe…As for Vitali vs Lewis FACT is that Vitali NEEDED another chance due to his failure first time around NOTHING special about that… “Whining because you could not get the job done” Vitali had the Champ in the ring and looked good for a couple rounds then by the 3rd he was bleeding all over the place and his arm punches were having NO effect while Lewis was taking his face apart one section at a time with right hands… Its in the books let it go, Lewis retired Undisputed HW Champion, Vitali retired quietly and without fanfare after beating Manuel Charr…

Vitali did not just beat S. Briggs Vitali punished Briggs for 12 long rounds. Notice Briggs did not call for a rematch. Kinda reminds you of Lewis, the cowardly lion, who also did not have a yearning for a repeat in the ring with Vitali. VK, one of the best of all time.

Posted August 5, 2014 9:27 am

Briggs did NOT “almost KO Lewis” what a GROSS exaggeration he did not even put Lennox on the canvas… So what are we discussing here? after 5 rounds he was done flat on his back… The elder Klit hit him for 12 rounds straight and could not finish him inside the distance get your facts straight up in here.

Posted August 5, 2014 9:22 am

GTFOH the fact that Briggs warrants mention at this point is a JOKE… Lewis smashed him when he was a prime and mobile young HW with solid punching power… Vitali beat him when he was a bloated meat bag and Wlad facing him at this point would be criminal….

Wladimir Klitschkos biggest fight against Shannon Briggs? This article author must be joking. Klitschko is the undisdputed heavyweight world champion and only fights his mandatory challangers or sometimes an volontary opponent in top 10 IF his mandatory pulls out like David Haye, Alexander Povetkin did several times.

Shannon Briggs is 42 years old and havent defeated a serius top opponent sence 2006!

Briggs would land a BOMB on Wlad should they meet. That is the only reason Wlad hasn’t responded at all. He knows that Briggs would get just enough shots through his guard to lay him out worse than Corrie Sanders did. I am the greatest fight PROPHET ever born!!!!

Briggs got some attention and had a good career when it was easy to have one. Lewis’ era was piss poor compared to todays era. Michael Grant? Francois Botha? Shannon Briggs? get real now. You get fighters from allover the world now with amateur and pro pedigree. Briggs would never make it if he were young today, standard has gone up way too much and left Briggs behind that’s all. Aint all about age like people say because Briggs always kept himself in shape it’s about standards.

The boxer that once was Shannon Briggs was a fighter of note. The Briggs of 2014 is mentally (obviously) fitful and as a prime contender physically faded including by fact of the demolition he received at the fists of Vitali Klitschko in 2010. His days in the ring are clearly numbered therefore this rude attempt at getting in ahead of the line to fight Wladimir. Good try Shannon, oh, and please close the door on your way out. Shannon would be cracking as a wrestler.

@Anthony. Briggs was a name because he was fighting in an era where it was easy to be a name. Alex Lepai earned his shot in an internationally recognised era of truly great big men who can punch. All of Lewis’ title opponents would be NOWHERE today. You saw what happened when a name from the old era stepped up to Vitali or did you miss that bout?

Posted August 5, 2014 1:01 am

This is, simply, total bs. Briggs surely has to earn a shot in the ring rather than just by behaving like a buffoon

Posted August 5, 2014 12:41 am

For those who think Shannon doesn’t have a chance, think about that Shannon has been in the ring with Forman, Lewis and Vitali. Shannon can still punch hard as hell, has a decent height and reach and is in better shape than he has been in a long time.

Does anyone here think Alex Leapai was is better opponent then Shannon is? Sure, Shannon hasn’t kept himself in world class shape over the years like Wladimir has, but Shannon IS a TWO-TIME world champion. How can anyone possibly say he is a bum?

Additionally, whether Shannon is getting carried away with his actions or whether he is right on the mark, nobody in the heavyweight division is stirring things up like he is right now! I have non-boxing friends talking about this! That is crazy because my non-boxing friends never talk about boxing!! So why not just sit back and see how this plays out, rather than condemning it?

… “get the fight and land a ko punch” … WTF ????

Those are 2 things Briggs couldn’t do in a millon years.

Posted August 4, 2014 5:50 pm

What would he do from there? He’d be heavyweight champ of the world! So negative.

Tomato Can

Brigg’s use to even come on to these boards after every Klitschko fight, talking about how neither one of them deserved to be champions. This is more of the same thing. Even if he did get the fight and landed a ko punch, what would he go on to do from there? Nothing.

Briggs’ doing the same thing he did before his fight with VK. He talked a great game, then proceded to to huff and puff his way to a very boring one sided loss. It shouldn’t be alowd to happen again.

david haye did a great job at creating a fight (although not in the actual fight) with Wladimir Klitchko because he was at least in his prime, relevant and a cruiserweight champ with crushing power and good speed. Briggs hasn’t been relevant in years….hes been past his prime for even longer, hasn’t beaten anyone of note in years and only materializes when his broke ass needs money, talking like hes a killer. Wlad already put him in the hospital by pouring water on his head….imagine what he’ll do to him in the ring.

for what? reality show antics?

I’d rather watch paint dry than watch Ol’ Man Briggs vs. Vlad. Don’t let this fight happen! First, Vlad vs. Pulev, then Vlad vs. Fury, Stiverne, or Wilder.

It’s stupid fom Wladimir if it falls for this…Public may buy into it once, but boxing pretenders will give him no quarter ever since.

Honestly, Briggs was past his prime TWO primes ago. How many ‘primes’ does a fighter have? His, “I’m now in the best shape of my life”, bla, bla bla… stopped being barely believable many moons ago.

Briggs needs to stop Wlad will beat his ass easy he is way too old and past his prime to bang at this going hang them up…

Silly old man that didn’t take care if his money. Vitali nearly killed him. He just looks pathetic.

Briggs lost every round vs Vitali… The only reason his lasted the distance is because he fought extremely defensively, weighed 270, and had a 24″ neck.

Briggs stunk the joint out.

Phanboy… You’re an idiot.. NOBODY wants to see this fight.. Contenders wait forever to get title shots as it is… Briggs is NOWHERE!!!

Briggs isn’t able to beat anyone remotely close to a title shot. He’s fighting bums. You don’t get a title shot by harassing the champion. You actually have to beat somebody.

Wladimir hates Briggs at this point. He’s a million miles from giving him a big money boost. He might even hire goons to beat the crap out of Briggs. Wladimir is richer than Holyfield, Tyson, or Ali, and a mega fight is NOT Briggs.

From Boxrec, “The pounding got worse in the eighth when the fight seemed to move from sporting event to simple and unnecessary public violence. Klitschko kept pounding away trying to get Briggs to go down, but he wouldn’t, and Briggs’ trainers (Herman Caicedo and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad) and Lewis showed a lot of bravery by letting the beating continue. In the end, Briggs made it to the final bell, but at what cost? He wound up in the hospital with a broken left orbital bone, a broken nose and a badly torn left biceps (for which he will need surgery). And who knows what other damage was done that won’t present itself until later in Briggs’ life? If Briggs was written off before the fight by most, he’s now finished. He barely threw punches and took an inordinate amount of punishment.” And this was almost four years ago. How could any responsible person advocate a title match for Briggs?

Wlad’s security should keep a strait jacket ready for the next time Briggs acts up.

Briggs is doing a great job of making a fool of himself…interest in a W.K. fight…no way..not interested!!

Posted August 4, 2014 3:11 pm

Briggs has the KO Power to drop Wlad. It may take a few rounds but it will land.

Freddie Roach Ate My Hamster

The biggest fight of his career?! Wlad made a fortune against Haye & against Povetkin, he’s sold out huge stadiums. Briggs was never an elite fighter, he’s just trying to get a short cut to a beating from Wlad, as he’s not ranked inside the top 50 and couldn’t beat anybody inside the top 20. This is TMZ junk, not noteworthy fight news.

Hes doing the same as Mitch the Blood Green did against Tyson. And he has the same chance of beating Wlad as Green did against Tyson. And thats None
