Danny will be fighting Mauricio Herrera who was just signed by Golden Boy Promotions.

Will he fight a no name like he was when he fought all the big names and won?

Posted January 23, 2014 2:40 pm

If Canelo is running from GGG then GGG is running from Ward since he’s the only one whose not ducking him.

Posted January 23, 2014 1:09 am

GGG is considered by most fans on this site a beast yet has been fighting nobodies while Danny has been beating top contenders, ex champions, champions and future HOFmers yet gets no credit for his work. One only wonders if any of these keyboard warriors know what they are talking about.

left hook

The facts……… so true, Tark is delusional and can’t understand basic concepts, Anonymous isn’t much better niether of them could have stepped foot in a boxing gym let alone fight or even spar anyone. You can argue all you want with them, they don’t get the point , they come up with funny arguments, it’s kinda humorous.

years ago they had a rematch, today they look for a bigger ppv paycheck.

Gallinas de Puelto Lico: You should be a little more original in choosing your poster name instead of using an ethnicity insulting logo to denigrate Puerto Rico.

Garcia doesn’t need to move up in weight until he is ready. Keith Thurman already looks like a 154 and he could very well wind up at 161 in the very end. Garcia is smart so he will not jump up in weight just to prove keyboarding boxing experts that he is not ducking 147 due to fearing their top fighters.

The Facts !

Tark ,, you really don’t know your boxing ,even do you try to express your feeling about fighters . Tark i guess you never put on a pair of boxing gloves or really paid attention to certain fighters because of your feelings toward that certain fighter . Listen Tark ,,, Tommy Hearns was one of the most explosive punchers there ever was don’t matter if he was skinny like you say . Remember ( Bob Foster ,, Alexis Arguello ,, Carlos Zarate ,,Sandy Saddler ,,Randell Bailey ,,these were all tall skinny fighters that could knock you out with one punch . Learn Tark Learn !!!

Didn’t you say that before Khan and Matthysse too buddy?

Jonn E. JaGozza

Danny Garcia in my opinion is one of the best fighters today in the boxing game. I like his style his will and his heart. Overall he is a master at his trade. this guy should continue to do very well in the sport, I don’t see many out there who can beat him … When he retires in many years he’ll be a very wealthy man… PEACE.. “The Language of teh Ring”

Posted January 21, 2014 7:10 pm

Why evrery body keep saying as if thurman was a fighter on the same level as froud may or the number onep4p manny

With one weelk of preparation I wd kick thurmans butt …the guy has no defense and. Sotto karras exposed. That he has a weak chin …

“Garcia knocked Morales stiff and Maidana couldn’t hurt Morales…”-GOOD to see that TARK agrees with ME on MY point from a couple of weeks ago. History agrees with ME TOO.

So what. Doesn’t mean anything. Garcia had a tough time with Judah, but Malignaggi easily beat him. Besides that, Marcos has been training with Robert Garcia since after he lost to Devon Alexander, and in that time, Maidana has become a much better boxer. Morales wouldn’t stand a chance against him today.

Posted January 21, 2014 5:13 pm

I wanna see Danny fight Ruslan Provodnikov. But I guess that’s just wishful thinking.

Chili Grande- “the Mexican blood in (Durán) made him very Agrressive?”
Ha hahahaha! That’s the silliest post in the history of ESB, including everything written by Michales Collins.
I guess Victor Ortiz must have some Panamanian blood on him, or something.

Posted January 21, 2014 1:20 pm

140 is a good weight for Garcia and he should keep defending his belt until no one is left, that’s how it’s done…..whoever Canelo or anyone else fights has nothing to do with Garcia’s career….until he is at their weight, or them at Danny’s….downgrading other fighters past or present will do nothing to enhance his career, only fighting the best available as he has tried to do so far, will help him rise to superstar status.

Posted January 21, 2014 11:29 am

I hope Garcia fights someone good and not cherry pick someone

Posted January 21, 2014 6:44 am

Fight Aficionado

Note the pic is of a low blow. That’s one of 3 straight up ball shots Garcia threw at Matthysse, along with two blatant head butts and excessive holding throughout. The holding in particular was absurdly high, easily 12-15 times per round. Ref only deducted one point all fight and did nothing to enforce the rules until it was too late.

He is fighting Mauricio herrear

Garcia knocked Morales stiff and Maidana couldn’t hurt Morales…

Posted January 21, 2014 2:50 am

You guys are crazy… Duran went the distance with Hagler but got knocked stiff by Skinny Sticks Hearns… And the fight was at 154 not 174… Hearns easily made the weight and didn’t rehydrate to 174.. That’s a lie.. Duran beat middleweight Barkley so it shouldn’t have been a problem for him to fight at 154. Mayweather won 3 titles at 154 and fought most of his career fights at 130.

Hagler didn’t knock anyone out who was any good… Even Marcos Geraldo went the distance with Hagler and Geraldo was knocked out at least 10 times in previous fights.

Leonard was the only very good boxer Hagler fought and Leonard hadn’t fought in 3 years when he whipped Hagler… Hearns was overrated and knocked stiff by Iran Barkley who beat Tommy twice… Other than Tommy—Barkley was beaten by Nunn, Kalambay, Benn, Toney, Duran, and a bunch of lesser swingers. Barkley was crude. He was slow.. But he murdered Hearns.

Garcia knocked Morales stiff and Maidana couldn’t hurt Maidana… That the difference in power… In their 1st fight Garcia was extremely inexperienced… In fact when he flattened Khan he only had 23 or 24 fights… Now he’s got 27 and is coming on rapidly… He’s the world’s top ranked 140-pounder and is the first guy to floor Matthysse.

Posted January 21, 2014 2:48 am

Broner was a hype job no doubt he hadn’t fought anyone credible. I dont dont why they sign off on these guys before they have proven themselves. Even as a ameture Floyd sparred with Frankie Randall and Pernell Whitaker, Brone was no Floyd not even close, WMarcos caught him early and he went into shut down srvival mode and got his ass beat all fight. Now he wants a rematch. He ego is writing check his ass cant cash. He is no Floyd Marcos is a beast but h is also easy to hit. I though Broner could have stayed on the outside used his speed and footwork to outbox Maidana but again he is no Floyd, the young boy just don’t have the skill set. The rematch probably will be more of the same if not worst lol…

Posted January 21, 2014 2:21 am

Garcia still not getting CREDIT!!Damm, Danny has to beat someone with his eyes close and his right hand tie to his back before he gets any credit for beating actual Better than AVERAGE fighters. Stupid Broner was considered the NEXT Mayweather without having beat anyone. This is the reason boxing SUCKS!!! Is all about HYPE!!!

Posted January 21, 2014 2:13 am

Danny Garcia is the truth he is a beast at 140, I think he should stay there though 147 might be too much.

Posted January 21, 2014 2:09 am

Jack Dempsey

To Tark ,,, i agree with Chili Grande are you going to compare Erik Morales chin against Danny Garcia . First of all Morales was a feather weight fighter and he had had so many wars before he even move up in the Jr. welter weight division .and he didn’t really belong there ,but he gave Marcos Maidana all kinds of trouble and he gave Danny Garcia all kinds of trouble in their first fight . Morales started as a super Bantam weight and was the Champion in that division ,he was a Champion in the Feather weight division a Champion in the super feather weight division and a Champion in the light weight division and held a title in the super light weight division ,, (Tark ) learn how to read and check out the records of these fighters before you print something stupid .

Posted January 21, 2014 1:25 am

Chili Grande

To Tark !! do you actually follow boxing ,because it sure in the heck does’t seem like you do . First Roberto Duran was indeed half Mexican ,his father was Margarito Duran Sanchez .. Duran had an iron chin ,,he was the only fighter besides Sugar Ray Leonard to last 15 rounds against Hagler ..he also withstood the heavy bombs of Iran Barkley . yes he was knock out by Hearns , but in reality Duran should not have been fighting in that division ,besides Hearns weigh in on fight night at 174 lbs . a light heavy weight that night . and about Morales being stop by Garcia ,well if you know boxing you would figure out that Morales was already a shot fighter by then ,,Tark start watching more boxing because you sure in the heck have no idea of boxing .

Posted January 21, 2014 12:52 am

Tark. Why did zab shake him up, there is no such thing is iron chin anybody can get knock into wonderland. Matter of fact ask PAC or mayweather.

Posted January 21, 2014 12:37 am

That is total BS Chili Grande… Look how many soft chinned Mexians there are… Augie Sanchez… Manuel Ramos… Mando Ramos… Victor Ortiz… Josesito Lopez… Jesse James Laija… Danny Perez… Juan Diaz… all had questionable chins.

Roberto Duran got smashed out anyway… But he was a full-blooded Panamanian Indian… He met his so-called father many years later and dismissed him with a handshake… His mother told him that wasn’t the guy anyway.

Danny Garcia blew away Erik Morales like he was a 4-round fighter… That’s after Morales took everything from crude swinging Marcos Maidana… So in chin matchups Danny has a rock-hard one.

That TBA is one tough customer.

Posted January 21, 2014 12:06 am

Chili Grande

Actually not a bad idea Bear Cat ,,,, the reason Roberto Duran was so great was that he was Half Mexican ,,Roberto Duran’s father was from Mexico ,, true fact .. thats why Duran had an iron jaw and was so agrressive ..usually fighters from Panama don’t fight like Duran , but the Mexican blood in him made him very Agrressive .

Posted January 20, 2014 11:52 pm

the only way Puerto Rico can have a chance against the Mexican fighters is if the Puerto Rican woman start having babys by the Mexican fighters that defeated all the Puerto Rican fighters . Thats the only way Puerto Rico can ever have any chance of beating the Mexicans ..instill some Mexican blood into the island and then you will see a difference in courage and stronger jaws .

Posted January 20, 2014 11:41 pm

it’s just a matter of time before Danny Garcia gets knock out by some young Mexican fighter ,,just like Miguel Cotto ,,Juan Manuel Lopez ,,, Ivan Calderon ,, Wilfredo Gomez ,,,Jonathan Gonzalez ,,Rocky Martinez ,, and so on they were all knockout by the Great Mexican fighters .

Damn dude I thought you knew a little boing. Mikeys belt is two weight classes lower so obviously that aint happening. Why don’t you actually post something that makes sense for once

Posted January 20, 2014 11:26 pm

The Best!

Garcia should stay at 140 and Unify that weight with all 4 belts

Posted January 20, 2014 11:19 pm

The Facts !

To Tark !!! it don’t matter if Danny Garcia is taller then Mayweather or sizes up good with Thurman ..It’s all in the heart ,Danny doesn’t quite have the confidence to fight the Maidanas or the Thurmans in the welter weight division yes ,,he is dragging his feet some what ..look how long it took him to agree to fight Matthysse .

maybe he can destroy another legend. marquez or who ever he fights. kid has heart. way to beat him is by ko if he don’t ko them first. 26 yrs old whats the rush

Posted January 20, 2014 10:28 pm

Floyd xylocaine mayweather

Is that not a low blow in the photo?

Posted January 20, 2014 10:27 pm

Sorby says.., “Danny started to drag his feet soon after at the idea of moving up to 147 and facing the likes of Keith Thurman and Floyd Mayweather Jr. It could be that Danny realized that he’s not up to fighting guys of that level. Mayweather Jr. would obviously dominate Garcia and make him look bad, whether Garcia ran around the ring an clinched all night or not. He just doesn’t match up with Mayweather in any way.” …

LMFAO… That is the stuff of pure fantasy. Danny matches up very well…

Danny is taller than Floyd, and physically tougher and stronger. He’s a harder puncher than Floyd with either hand.. Floyd can’t hold 150 pounds—and Lucas Matthysse weighs into the ring at 160. Danny never blinked from dynamite punching Matthysse’s best shots. Garcia scored the only knockdown over Matthysse and finished the fight with a murderous exchange of heavy, speedy blows. Garcia-Matthysse was better than Floyd-Canelo.

Danny comes into the ring in the 150’s … He’s up for fighting Floyd. He’ll fight Floyd anytime, any place … whenever Floyd gets ready to step up from fighting patsies like Amir Khan—a jabbering, juvenile jerkoff who Danny mopped the floor with and stopped in 4 rounds.

Posted January 20, 2014 10:26 pm

if thurman drops down to jr. garcia would fight him. he’s a action fighter. good chin. hits hard and is full of confidence. make that money danny. can’t wait

Old School Rules

I bet it will be Paulie Malignaggi

Posted January 20, 2014 10:18 pm

“Mayweather Jr. would obviously dominate Garcia and make him look bad, whether Garcia ran around the ring an clinched all night or not.”

And the ignorant gibberish keeps on coming. Matthysse was overwhelmingly favored to make Danny “look bad,” but Danny proved a whole lot of people wrong when he beat him. Danny Garcia does NOT need Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Posted January 20, 2014 10:10 pm

“It’s no surprise that Danny won’t be moving up in weight, because after talking about it briefly last year, Danny started to drag his feet soon after at the idea of moving up to 147 and facing the likes of Keith Thurman and Floyd Mayweather Jr. It could be that Danny realized that he’s not up to that level of fighting guys of that level.”

This is also a crock. Danny has always made it clear that he wants to make his own legacy. Unlike so many other fighters who think it’s all about fighting Mayweather, Danny wants to dominate the jr. welterweight division before moving up in weight. Danny isn’t, or hasn’t, avoided anyone. He just beat one of the highest rated fighters on the planet, but this is the kind of tripe Sorby has to say about him?
