Squared-Circle Real Talk (The Lion King of Beat Street)

Mikey Garcia, 3G, Kovalev or Rigo. Adonis has Provence that he has a big left hand and can beat overrated L HWs like Sad Chad and Cloud. The Krusher called Adonis out when they fought on the same card and Stevenson ducked the challenge as if it didn’t exist. Clearly Adonis wants no part of the Krusher. Want to impress me? Wanna be FOTY, fight and beat the BEST in your own division. Real talk.

Timmy Bradley, Mayweather, Golovkin, or Danny Garcia before I’d pick Pimp Stevenson.

Posted December 3, 2013 5:43 pm

This year is a tough call with so many fighters winning hard battles but my vote would go to Tim Bradley again – I can watch his last 6 fights over and over.

Posted December 2, 2013 2:02 pm

Well IF you take the Pacquiao Fight off and look at the last 2 Fights then you put Rigo in the conversation. His one sided WIN over Top 5 P4P Donaire was more impressive than Bradley’s Controversial WINS over #3 P4P Marquez and #0 P4P Provodnikov. Also his Top 5 P4P WIN Trumps Floyd’s BEST WIN. 2 Top 10 P4P WINS trumps one Top P4P WIN though SO Floyd WINS once again. Floyd is Fighter of the YEAR the DECADE and of ALL TIMES. He made Canelo feel like Canelo made Trout feel. They felt like “DAMN I can’t hit him!!”

Flkoyd Mayweather jr, Sergey Kovalev, Timothy Bradley etc are all NO GOES. Adonis Stevenson have achived far more this year then what they have done.

What’s with Stevenson getting all the ink at ESB? Kovalev was far more impressive and in fact other websites are considering him as FOY. Stenson did well but was already ducking Kovalev before this story was written.

Ha ha ha funny u should say that…i did write that b4 deleting it… would have only made some people cry, and im over listening 2 the Manny v Floyd debate.

Posted December 2, 2013 4:04 am

Mayweather. He and Bradley are the Top 2. Mayweather beat Guerrero and Alvarez when both were Top 10 P4P.

Posted December 2, 2013 3:59 am

Im only going with Mikey over Bradley because of the way he beat the guys he faced…Sure theres no Marquez there….he belted 3 very solid guys….I’ll go Bradley, Mikey,Stevenson and Broner if he gets the win vs Maidana, thats in no order…not sure who the 5th guy would b?

Posted December 2, 2013 3:56 am

Mikey hasn’t beaten anyone the caliber of Marquez or Provodnikov. He’s a Top 5 Fighter though.

Posted December 2, 2013 3:51 am

Ray Ray

Broner vs Madiana still 2 come yet, the winner there has had a fair yr.

Posted December 2, 2013 3:47 am

Ray Ray

Garcia had 3 great wins vs Solido,Juanma Loez, Ramon Martinez…..thats a good hit list 4 12months work.

Posted December 2, 2013 3:41 am

Ray Ray

Boxtra-im hearing u…but the pacman fight wasnt this yr….I thought he took some big shots vs prod. Stevenson had 3 big wins. I think Mikey Garcia is worth a mention? Your thoughts?

Posted December 2, 2013 3:37 am

He didn’t WIN all 3 on MY scorecard but then again I wasn’t at ringside. I scored the Fights from the television. I DO know that Bradley didn’t get terribly SPANKED in any of those 3 Fights. WHO else could have faced that caliber of competition in 3 straight Fights without getting terribly SPANKED?? Not many Fighters…and even IF they CAN do it they DIDN’T DO it. Bradley DID. That’s why he’s Fighter of the Year.

Posted December 2, 2013 3:18 am

The Provodnikov fight was a draw if the ref scored both knockdowns.

Posted December 2, 2013 1:46 am

Ray Ray

Boxtra-on a technicality u r right? Do u think Bradley won all 3 of those fights. Besides the Manny fight wasnt this yr…I think he def lost 2 out of 3 and the Marquez fight is only a maybe win 2 Bradley

Posted December 2, 2013 1:34 am

If Stevenson is Fighter of the Year, Jack Humbolt is Writer of the Year.

Posted December 2, 2013 1:22 am

The way to “Fighter of the Year” is to beat a great fighter on the rise… Why not fight Kovalev and try for 2014 honors???

Posted December 2, 2013 1:19 am

The FACT is that Bradley beat Pacquiao, Provodnikov, and Marquez in his last 3 Fights. No one kn the Sport can match it.

Posted December 2, 2013 1:18 am

Ray Ray

Stevenson would b up there…..Boxtra Bradley? Not surw I can agree with that…..Ran all night from a smaller 42 yr old…B4 that he got his ass handed 2 him by Prod. Either rematch between Manny and Prod ends in Bradley getting beeat up without getting a gift decision.

Posted December 1, 2013 11:33 pm

He’s catapulted himself to #3 P4P. Stevenson is still #0.

Posted December 1, 2013 9:08 pm

Nope. Bradley IS.

Posted December 1, 2013 9:07 pm

I want to cast my vote for Sillakh, because he landed gracefully on the canvas for nap last night. It was like poetry in motion.

Posted December 1, 2013 7:12 pm

Garbageman, Stevenson has fought turds. Cloud got pounded on by the Road warrior. Chad Dawson is poop from the jump. And Bellew was nothing until his HBO debut last night and he gave Stevenson trouble. Golovkin made a human blood clot out of Rosato, who actually should have beat Kid Choco. He demolished Macklin. Mayweather doesn’t fight enough. But is give it to him before Stevenson.

Fighter of the year should be decided on facts not assumptions. The fact is Rigo has proved to be by far the best of his division, no other fighter has achieved that.

Posted December 1, 2013 6:11 pm

The Prince

Floyd Mayweather should be the fighter of the year, even Sugar Ray Leonard wrote an article about it.

I agree. There could or should only be Adonis Stevenson becouse he is the fighter who have achived most in 2013. In March, Stevenson knocked out Darnell Boone, the only man to have defeated Stevenson. Then 3 monts later in June Adonis Stevenson shocks the boxing world by knocking out the 2-time world light heavyweight champion “Bad” Chad Dawson after 2 minutes of boxing in 1st round and becoming the new world light heavyweight champion at age 35. 3 months later in September, Adonis Stevenson is back in the ring to make his first world title defence by fighting the hard hitting former IBF world light heavyweight champion Tavoris “Thunder” Cloud in a contest of master act. Stevenson dominates Cloud and stops him in the 7th round. And finaly 3 months later again now in November we all saw Stevenson make another dominant world title defence for a 2nd time against WBC Nr1# ranked and former Brittish & Commonwealth champion Tony Bellew by out-boxing and then knock-out him in 6th round! Truly a great year for Adonis Stevenson and boxing so there should be a NO CONTEST on wich fighter should get the “Fighter of the Year Award”. – Other to mention in reserve I would pick Bernard Hopkins for his achivments of again becoming the oldest world champion in history and new oldest champion to defend the world title all at age 48!

The Garbageman

GGG comp was not as great and will not be getting fighter of the year mentions.

Posted December 1, 2013 5:40 pm

This is just means this is a guy that knows his day of reckoning and exposure will come against Kovalev, nothing else.

Posted December 1, 2013 4:21 pm

That’s funny, someone steals the show in your hometown and then you don’t even want to talk about him and try to take your land and fans back. This is no champion.

Posted December 1, 2013 4:19 pm

The yellow he wears suits him nicely. COWARD

Posted December 1, 2013 4:17 pm

Bwahahahah! This guy is not fighter of the year! He is a fraud! Golovkin should be fighter of the Year. Stevenson should be: best run away from your own back yard from Kovalev of the year award candidate.

Posted December 1, 2013 4:16 pm

He will kill Kovalev’s white ass.

Posted December 1, 2013 2:54 pm

Boxing Fan I’m not sure about that Stevens has fought some good comp and stood tall Kovalev has not shown he can take Stevens punches so right now advantage Stevens. Fight want happen anyway not enough cash to be made.

Kovalev will kill him. He is a one dimensional fighter.

It’s Me, Ernie

Nice kid yet overrated. He sure was calling everyone else out except Kovalev, which is pretty smart on his behalf…

Posted December 1, 2013 1:36 pm

mr gav

Simple answer is yes. This guy had simply become rags to riches in just one year a real Cinderella story.there are other contenders of course but Stevenson gets my vote.

Posted December 1, 2013 1:13 pm

Can’t believe Bellew was the number 1 contender, brave but very limited Cleverly beat him and look what happened to him.

Posted December 1, 2013 12:56 pm

Amir Khan? Haha

Fair enough Tony…You are ofcourse allowed to have your own opinions reg. the subject….But honestly Rigo is a joy to watch if one loves the sweet science and he made 2012 Ringtv fighter of the year Nonito Donaire look like he was a novice but he ofcourse also has to show he can actually beat Agbeko first…Personally I just think that the skill-level of the LHW div should come into play regarding this decision…I would rate Timothy Bradley’s year above Kovalev and Stevenson too….He’s given us two fantastic fights and redeemed himself of the pac-BS….

Posted December 1, 2013 11:29 am

Golovkin fighter of the year.

Posted December 1, 2013 11:22 am

Fair enough. Boxrec isn’t everything. They’re both very talented fighters. The Donaire upset was huge. I’d still go with Stevenson or Kovalev for fighter of the year. They had very active 2013s.

Posted December 1, 2013 11:15 am

Floyd Mayweathee Jr….is fighter of the year stop the madness!

Posted December 1, 2013 11:14 am

Rigo will not be fighter of the year. 2 fights and one being Agbeko, someone who hasn’t fought in a while will not get you the honors. Stevenson has a decent shot at getting it. Not so much for avenging his loss because he should of never took an L against Boone anyways.

Posted December 1, 2013 11:07 am

Killing Moon The Soothsayer

LMAO…Would rate Agbeko’s skill way above Dawson(mediocre) and the two nobodies…Why don’t you watch a youtube clip or two..Tony…Agbeko is very hard to beat…

Posted December 1, 2013 10:56 am

It will only be Regondeaux’s second fight of the year. Agbeko isn’t that highly ranked according to boxrec.

Posted December 1, 2013 10:51 am

Killing Moon The Soothsayer

Oh plz when Rigondeaux beats Agbeko next sunday….You have your fighter of the year……And the LHW div is a very weak div ..Has been for years..The skill level is just not there and big punchers Stevenson and Kovalev has found a good playing-ground, where they can just line em up and ko them until they decide to meet eachother.

Cloud,Dawson,Bellow vs Donaire,Agbeko is an easy decision..If you look at the skill-level.

Posted December 1, 2013 10:33 am

He’s got to be. He avenges his one loss by KO and then KOs Cloud, Dawson, and Bellow. The Kovalev fight needs to be made.
