deontay will destroy fury – just saying

Posted November 25, 2013 1:23 pm

The Honeybadger

To be honest I want to see a Fury-Cunningham rematch. I know they helping each other out now in Fury’s camp since USS was helping Fury prepare for Haye, but USS deserves his rematch down the road. A natural cruiser, but one of the more refined heavyweights. Had he paced himself more he upsets the Primo Carnera-like Fury.

I want to see it. Make it happen!

Posted November 23, 2013 5:34 pm

Rich, as well as the sake of the fans who want to see some action. Would have liked to see Wilder matched up with Ortiz. They’re in the same promotion. But risky business fights like that don’t happen as much nowadays.

Posted November 23, 2013 5:05 pm

KL, good points on defense. If you have great defense your chin doesn’t matter so much. Look how great Wlad got under the tutelage of Emmanuel. My biggest concern regarding Wilder is not so much what happened in the ring with him as the fights that have NOT happened in the 5 plus years that he’s been pro. I agree Liakovich wasn’t completely shot, he was hit by devastating shots. And I never thought Fraudly was quite as fraudulent as the British seem to unanimously suggest. Granted Harrison was not championship material. Harrison’s chin and defense never came together. I’m high on Fury, his brother, Joshua, and Wilder. They are the best of the new crop.

Posted November 23, 2013 5:03 pm

Tony, sensible comments my friend.
Granted Wilder looked vulnerable when he was off balance, and that’s something I hope his team are working hard to rectify.
That said, Wilder senses were quick enough to avoid getting tagged by that Firtha punch even if it didn’t look pretty.
Whilst Fraudley was no world beater, he had just come off a second “Prize fighter” win, suggesting that Faudley wasn’t quite as cooked as some people have stated.
Liahkovich took everything that Jennings threw at him and manage to fire back at times, so again I don’t buy those that say Liahkovic was “totally shot. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think wins against Fraudley or Liahkovic make Wilder anything special, but I think those very quick wins do indicate that Wilder isn’t a “fraud” as some suggest.
As for the Sconiers fight, yeah sure that may indicate a fragile chin, but then again it was only his 9th fight I think, and Wilder has come on since then, also since Wilder came back to stop Sconiers in Rd 4, it does indicate that Wilder has the ability to come back.
Like I say though it’s Wilder’s defensive skills I am more interested in, not really whether he has a chin or not, If Wilder like Haye & the K brothers can minimize getting hit then that is more important to Wilder’s arsenal.
Wilder ticks all the boxes as far as offense goes, I’d like team Wilder to concentrate more on defense as this could be his Achilles heel.

Posted November 23, 2013 4:08 pm

KL, Wilder was very off balance in the 1st round against Firtha. I think he may be over protected. We will find out by whether he takes the Fury fight. But I agree he puts punches together well and has good speed. He has 3 strikes against him 1) he hasn’t fought anyone with a pulse 2) Sconiers knocked him down and 3) that first round of Firtha looked ugly.

Posted November 23, 2013 3:40 pm

Gonzo, we’re having a language barrier. Wilder’s power isn’t an issue. His ducking people and not fighting anybody is. Offending me is impossible. Try something else.

Spot on Dumbo lol, wilder sucks tony 144

Posted November 23, 2013 3:28 pm

Sadly many have fixed views on Wilder, that probably won’t budge even if he beats Fury. Those that say Wilder is a total fraud will likely claim that he got “lucky” against Fury, or that Fury wasn’t of sound mind when he took the fight. Those that don’t have such a polarized fix view on Wilder should be able to observe that Wilder DOES have some good assets, punching power and fast hands(often this is totally neglected), he also can land punches pretty accurately, that said Wilder is NOT the finished article, he still swings too wildly at times and his balance seems a tad unstable at times. People keep asking whether Wilder has a chin or not, but the more valid question is how good is Wilder’s defense?

Posted November 23, 2013 3:23 pm

Dumbo, great name for you. Perhaps you should learn to read. I said Wilder can punch period. If he hits Fury hard, Fury will go down. What happens after that remains to be seen. Sounds like you’re still in recovery from the Abdusamolov beatdown.

Posted November 23, 2013 2:25 pm

Boxer…Yes I seen some footage of Haye sparring Wilder…and Wilder leaves alot to be desired in overall skills. If you can avoid his early big shots then your pretty safe I would say.And if I recall didnt Wilder get knocked down by a club fighter in one of his fights???

Posted November 23, 2013 1:30 pm

Did you guys see deontay sparring haye?, now I learned a couple of things about wilder 1 he swings really wide and sloppy with no tactics, or skill, 2 as long as you keep calm and you aren’t intimidated by his size than he’s pretty much easy work for any heavyweight contender! Heck James toney might be able to still pull a win on him!,

Posted November 23, 2013 1:22 pm

@ALONZO,who as wilder actualy knocked out!!!let me tell you!a bunch of pitza delivery boys looking for a quick buk, even Anonymous BRUCE could beat them in a slapping contest

Posted November 23, 2013 12:25 pm

Fury won’t get up after being hit by Wilder. I would rather see Furry win but it ain’t gonna happen. Just a guess but Deontay hits harder than Cuningspam.

Posted November 23, 2013 12:13 pm

Fury can get knocked down but gets up fast with a clear head and fires back a wake-up call.Wilder hits hard but could it be abit overrated since he only fought stiffs and shot fighters??And if Wilder dosent get Fury out of there in 3 or 4 rds. will he be able to out box him…will he have stamina as the fight unfolds??Fury been alot more tested and came through, showing he has some tricks and tools to survive and win…Wilder hasnt at this point. Also Fury looks like the better all around boxer-fighter at this point. The little we could see from Wilder because of the lack of decent fighters he faced he still looked clumsey..akward..and didnt like being under any pressure or taking a shot, which isnt a good sign.

wilder could dream of beating adamek but thats as close as he will ever get.

Cunningham knocked Fury down. If Wilder lands, he will knock Fury out. True, he’s been fighting mostly stiffs, but Deontay can punch.

Posted November 23, 2013 11:04 am

Gonzo the Vulture

Wilder couldn’t punch his way out of a wet paper bag. He hasn’t fought anyone with a pulse yet. He’s literally been feasting on a diet of stiffs. A Hughie Fury jab would knock him sparko in no more than 30 seconds.

keep the hw circus rolling.

Posted November 23, 2013 9:55 am

This is a fight that could revive interest in the HW division.I hope it happens.

Posted November 23, 2013 9:44 am

Yep both fury and wilder beat adamek all day long. I hope this fight happens only way this could be a ppv is if the undercards are good and would have to involve a lot of USA vs UK matches to make it a sort of theme burns vs Crawford could be one. But if it’s not a ppv then promoters will just have to take a big risk. But winning means a top 5 ranking and close to a world title shot

Posted November 23, 2013 8:53 am

Neil (Pomy)

Fury and wilder would both beat Ademek. His loss to Vitali was one of the most one-sided heavyweight title fights i have seen.

Posted November 23, 2013 8:25 am

What?! Is that the same Adamek that was embarrassed and utterly useless against Vitali?

Posted November 23, 2013 7:45 am

The saddest thing about the heavyweight rankings is that Wilder would KO Fury and then claim to be a top rated fighter. Yet, little Adamek would beat both of them over the distance. It’s a good call and challenge by Wilders camp because Fury has absolutely nothing, which is a little less than Wilder’s arsenal.

Posted November 23, 2013 6:44 am

Neil (Pomy)

Nice, im leaning towards Fury but Price has huge power and Fury is easily hit. It is an interesting matchp but a step up in opponent-level for Wilder. Winner should fight one of the K-bro’s

Posted November 23, 2013 6:42 am

Fury down and out inside 3. Wilder doesn’t hang around and Fury had only been successful because of his size advantage. And his chin is woeful.

Glorified nutter tough-man against unproven tomato-can ko’er…Hardly the biggest fight that can be made…But what the hell…Bring it on if nothing else we’ll get rid of one of them…

Posted November 23, 2013 4:20 am

A 50 50 between 2 young unbeaten heavy weights that’s generating a lot of excitement. Both fighters and camps want the fight as they want to progress to a klitchcow shot which is good to see. But promoting site will stop this fight taking place both fighters are taking a big risk and a loss is likely to be by brutal ko so all reputation and future earnings are hit hard. Channel 5 im UK cannot make this a huge eventand this fight isn’t big enough for ppv just yet so to make this fight happen promoting has to take a risk and snow true confedence in thier man. I don’t know how to call it but I can’t see fury getting up from a wilder right

Posted November 23, 2013 3:47 am

Let the fight happen. It’s a big money fight. Wilder is more athletic and his a bigger punch. Fury seems to have better skills and has more proven experience. Both match up physically. An awesome fight.

Posted November 23, 2013 3:34 am

Let this fight happen. I think Fury is a better fighter than Wilder, as he has fought, by far, the better competition. Wilder needs to land his big wild right hand, but how powerful is his right hand? Nobody really knows because Wilder has never fought anyone ranked. David Haye beat the crap out of Wilder in sparring. Vladimir Klitschko knocked Wilder down with a left jab, totally outclassed him. Wilder has only one punch, the right hand and we don’t know what it would do to a legit boxer. Fury does have power, speed, he can go 12 rounds if needed………..

Posted November 23, 2013 2:51 am

big head

if steve cunningham can knock tyson fury down and hurt him just imagin what wilder will do to him then again i think fury let his gaurd down in the cunningham fight he got overconfident cause cunningham was smaller and he caught with a good punch i think fury will have a lil more respect for wilder and not leave his hands down and have his gaurd up but fury is tough tho and he can take a good shot he knows how to use his size well and we still dont know if wilder can take a good shot or not and he still havent been to many rounds yet either but i dont see fury taking to many of those right hands from wilder tho and i still cant get that steve cunningham fight out my head him getting dropped by a cruiserweight one thing fury going to try to do is rough wilder up on the inside trying to wear him out with his size getting rough and dirty trying to get wilder out his game trying to break his will on the inside will take away wilder power to wilder needs distance and space to land that right hand when u close to him it going to be hard for him to land it it be a interesting fight if it happens but i favor wilder to win tho if they do fight

Posted November 23, 2013 1:48 am

What I don’t understand about Wilder is that after 29 fights still hasn’t fought not even a fringe contender, but the best fighter he fought was clearly a shot fighter, Been knockout by the of the last 6 fighters. There most be a reason why his management team has but him in with such soft opposition. Probable because the mangegment team most be afraid that a real heavywieght that is just a fingeconteder will expose as a fraud. Take Wider’s last oponnent landed just a jab, and he appeared uncomfortable with being hit. David Haye would KO Wilder. Sounds like Crawford Grimsley of the 90s all over again.

Wilder-Fury would probably produce the first double-KTFO. It just has that kind of feel to it. We’ve seen double knockdowns before (Powell-Bundrage 1) but this will be the first time neither man gets up…

Lol I think that’s possible

I can see Wilder knocking Fury out, and then everyone still moaning that he’s not been tested! Either way I like the fight regardless of the outcome it has some intrigue.

Posted November 22, 2013 6:34 pm

Well my friend you tell me if wilder was tested so far? No one is “moaning” but the reality is that wilder so far wasn’t tested

Posted November 23, 2013 12:12 am

I’d love to see the fight, make it happen. I won’t predict a winner either since IMO both guys have strengths and flaws. ‘Sounds like the recipe for a good fight style wise. I think Fury is more of a draw and should get t he bigger cut too.

I can see the contracts for this being a factor. Isn’t Fury normally on Channel 5 UK, it was only Haye’s people that got their fight to Sky PPV and so assuming he can’t do the same with a Wilder fight, it’s unlikely this would be profitable. Even at midnight in the UK it’s still be too early to be a PPV card in the US and so the revenue just wouldn’t be there. As much as it may pain Fury to admit id, Haye was the big draw in that fight and unless he’s willing to go 70-30 in Wilder’s favour, this won’t happen.

Wilder is a better fighter than the old cruiser that just almost knocked Fury out. You can hate on Wilder but Fury is a complete fraud… Haye.

everyone’s still criticizing Wilder for not fighting anyone… maybe missed the point of the open letter – he’s calling out the biggest name in the heavyweight division who’s not a Klitchko or previous klitchko victim.

i agree with a previous comment – even if Wilder ko’s fury in 1 round, people will say – “oh, fury wasn’t that good anyway… he got knocked down by steve cunningham a cruiserweight… wilder hasn’t been tested… etc”

“I can see Wilder knocking Fury out, and then everyone still moaning that he’s not been tested!” – Why would you see that? The reason people say Wilder is untested is because he’s not faced a single top 40 opponent. Fury is legit top 10, and would be his first decent opponent.

Sounds like Wilder’s camp is down. Only thing I don’t like about this is they’re talking PPV. Don’t think a non-title fight is PPV material. PPVs should be reserved strictly for star fighters who are established world champions. Get out.

Audley Harrison is pathetic and a bum. We’ll see what Wilder is when he finally steps up the comp. Unfortunately a limey Wanker like the absurdly named Tyson Fury doesn’t represent such an upgrade. A guy who is rocked by his own fist in a fight and goes life and death with a feather-fisted cruiserweight won’t tell us much about Wilder. I expect Wilder-Fury to go much the way of Monte Barrett-Ty Fields. Hope the ref doesn’t get crushed by the falling timber!

Posted November 22, 2013 7:38 pm

be surprised to see wilder box a guy with a winning record that is not shot. maybe in a few more years,

I think Fury beats haye but gets KO’d by wild

Posted November 22, 2013 6:42 pm

AT LONG LAST, one of these men will be picking up their teeth off from the canvas, whilst the other will be able to name their price as they chase the heavyweight championship!

We will get to see if TYSON FURY can really take a punch for he will surely catch a few from the Wild Man, WILDER!

We will also get to see what Wilder has as he will have to negotiate a man who can hustle him right out his boots!

FURY has a fighting heart and may not look like much style wise, but he is determined and the strengths both men have will be balanced by their obvious weaknesses that will make for a glorious slugfest and as i said one of them having to pick up his teeth, whilst nursing an embarrassed ego…

Posted November 22, 2013 6:30 pm

Well now seems like Fury has written a check his ass can’t cash . You can’t say it any plainer than that you guys can shoot holes in it all you want but this is a real call out. I would love to see it but it’s really not that big of a deal neither fighter has done anything. I don’t care who wins I just want to see some movment

Posted November 22, 2013 6:23 pm

No need for a silly open letter – Wilder’s opposition has been rediculously pathetic and his team is fully aware of it so that is why the fight won’t be made – An open letter is just a front

Posted November 22, 2013 6:18 pm

Wilders sounds like he is ready to go what about Fury he made the initial call out now the balls in his court will he stand and fight or will he run. I think Wilder will come out swinging and put Fury to sleep.

Would like to see it but its not going to happen as its not PPV and Wilders team clearly dont understand that and wont be able to take the fight with the small rights fees on offer. I think you will end up seeing Tyson fight Pulev as he was scheduled once he gets over this enormous disappointment and work his way to a mandatory shot against Vlad with 0 options.
