You fall asleep on the job too.. That’s why you were fired sleepy-pussPosted October 7, 2013 2:06 am
watching Ward’s fights are good for insomnia. I fall asleep every time.Posted October 7, 2013 12:51 am
This fight won’t be boring… If only one guy is getting hit…and there’s no drama at all…a fight is boring… Edwin is going to land good shots on Ward—even if nobody else has been able to do that in the last 5 years.Posted October 6, 2013 11:09 pm
How bout this: Ward is so boring that he has to overpay opponents now just to fight him. And I bet you if you read any Ward articles online or in the magazines the fine print at the bottom says “this is a paid advertisement.”Posted October 6, 2013 1:07 pm
One thing is for sure: Andre Ward will take over boxing as king of the ring after Floyd is gone.Posted October 6, 2013 3:57 am
No, but you might say “Hey, all of the 168lb belts are in other countries and all of those fighters draw bigger crowds there than I do here”…but you’re more likely to say “I don’t care about belts, I won a tournament in 2011 and that makes me the SMW king for all-time regardless of who I fight”Posted October 6, 2013 1:54 am
Ward will probably do it too… But why should he if the location and opponent isn’t there, and it doesn’t make the most sense right now. You don’t just say, “You know what? Let’s go to France and fight.”Posted October 5, 2013 8:40 pm
Tark, I’m not denying any of that. But like I said, actions speak louder than words. Why can’t he fight another opponent in some place other than California or the USA? Alil did it. Rios is doing it. Froch did it. Kessler did it. Canelo did it.Posted October 5, 2013 7:29 pm
Hidalgo I never said Pac was on PEDs. I have always maintained that I think he was clean and was just breasting fighters. What I did say though that the antics that he pulled in not taking the random test and the excuses he came up with would make people think he was using. He should of just said no instead of all the excuses. As far as I know anybody Heredia has been associated with has not ran I to those same issues. Really Marquez is the only guy I know that works with him. I think there is one more perso. But not sure who it isPosted October 5, 2013 7:29 pm
BTW.., WHO did the judges favor in the last Ward-Froch fight???
You got it… They were looking to rob Ward blind.Posted October 5, 2013 2:15 pm
Hidalgo.., Ward said, in no uncertain terms, that he would love to go to the UK to fight Froch.. Froch doesn’t want to fight him again, at least right now, because he took a bad beating last time. He doesn’t see a whole lot that will change the story if they fight again. Ward cannot negotiate that fight with himself. Froch’s team needs to talk.
Right now Froch is riding high. Why would he ruin that by losing his championships to Andre Ward??? He’s making smart business moves.Posted October 5, 2013 2:14 pm
“check your facts about Ward not wanting to come to the UK to fight. He said he would be willing,”
Proof is in the pudding, urone2. Talk is cheap. Actions tell the truth. Over the past four years Ward has usually fought at home.
Now, he did fight Froch in New Jersey, but in 5 of his last 8 fights, he has fought in his hometown of Oakland, CA.
His fight with Rodriguez will be in Ontario, CA. which is several hundred miles south of Oakland, but Ward has ALWAYS fought in the USA. So he never has had to deal with being out of his element or fighting on foreign soil; he has never had to deal with foreign fans, he has never had to deal with extreme jet lag, he has never trained on foreign soil, he has never had to fight out of his comfort zone.
Now, does this make Ward a lesser fighter? Of course not. But we all know that having the “homefield” advantage can and often does make a difference. In all sports.
But the fact remains: Ward is very reluctant to fight anywhere but Oakland. His record proves this to be true.Posted October 5, 2013 1:10 pm
Interesting you say that about Rodriguez/Conte, Peej. I don’t recall you saying that about Marquez/Heredia. I do recall you repeatedly, over the years, strongly insinuating that Pacquiao does PEDs. Very interesting indeed.Posted October 5, 2013 12:58 pm
Ward is definitely the best boxer and the champ at 168. I realty don’t see anything that Rodriguez can do to beat Ward. Unfortunately for Rodriguez, now that he is working with Conte, he may come up with a shoulder injury like every other Fighter who had Conte join his teamPosted October 5, 2013 9:30 am
Old School Rules
Can’t wait to see him back in action. I hope he stops chasing this “Chavez Jr PPV” fight he keeps talking about though. I’m a huge Ward fan but NOBODY is going to pay $50 to see him destroy Chavez. That’s a joke. I’d rather see a rematch with Froch in the U.K. or even a unification bout with Stieglitz before a Chavez fight.Posted October 5, 2013 12:38 am
No doubt that the fight will be in SOB Ward’s home town with Ward’s personal referee and judges once again. I guess Marty Denkin will be judging his fight and probably the others who were the judges for the Chavez/Vera fight. Watch and see. Those judges should never be allowed to judge a fight ever again, they all appear to be criminals.Posted October 5, 2013 12:02 am
Boring 2 the average boxing fans who only c Knock outs as part of being a great boxer….yes that’s good 2 watch. The technical, defensive, smart side of boxing is also great when it equals winning. That’s all that matters in the end.Posted October 4, 2013 11:49 pm
welcome back champ…yezzir!Posted October 4, 2013 11:11 pm
Hopkins is the most overrated fighter in the world. Why ? Like Ward he is downright BORING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Posted October 4, 2013 10:57 pm
Hopkins is number 1# dirtiest fighter number 2# is Andre WardPosted October 4, 2013 10:55 pm
check your facts about Ward not wanting to come to the UK to fight. He said he would be willing, it was Froch that didn’t want the rematch. Froch said it after the Bute fight, that he might want to fight Ward later but not now.
You are nother one of the blah blah blah, people that claims Ward only wins because he fights at home. I couldn’t be because he is just better than Froch, which it seem that Froch actually thinks since he turned down the fight.Posted October 4, 2013 10:13 pm
Ward is elite. Schools Rodriguez. then re-schools Froch, or Kessler, or Abraham, or, or…Posted October 4, 2013 8:54 pm
poor soggy between banging his bible and rehabbing from various “injurys” he hardly has time for any real fighting and yet he is P4P #2Posted October 4, 2013 6:22 pm
I hope Andre isn’t taking Edwin Lightly!!!!!! There has been alot of talk about his next fight with possibly GGG. First he needs to get by Edwin and I don’t think he will beat Rodriguez !!!!Posted October 4, 2013 6:08 pm
The KING has reassumed his THRONE. Whosoever dares to challenge him inside his Castle will be dismissed with a LOSS.Posted October 4, 2013 6:03 pm
I like how Hopkins calling his self a LEGEND I think he is a LEGEND putting people to sleep.Posted October 4, 2013 5:47 pm
I been thinking which is the most boring fight you can put together I know!
Ward can move up and face Sergey Kovalev
Andre ‘I only fight at home’ Ward. The only people care about watching him are his 5 friends and his dog. No one else cares. Froch fought him and lost fair and square in the USA but when he was asked to return the favour in the UK he chickened out. Move up to 175 and run away Ward. Kovalev is waiting there to smash his face in anyway.Posted October 4, 2013 5:28 pm
Ward has done all he can at 168. He can stay and go for Calzaghe’s record, or bump to 175 and take on some of those guys. I see no reason why he couldn’t beat everyone there.Posted October 4, 2013 5:16 pm
Not intrigued by this at all. Ward fought at 175 at the Olympics a decade ago. Why doesn’t he move up? He’s cleaned out 168 already. Nothing here worth watching except a Froch rematch in England, which won’t happen.Posted October 4, 2013 5:10 pm
So Ward’s popularity is somewhere between the 300 year old Cher and a minor league hockey team? Figures. Either Ward or his management team are seriously unambitious – as the supposed p4p #2 he’s having his first fight in a year against a guy who has never been in a world title fight and then setting his sights on a fight with the twice-exposed Chavez Jr. The 168lb belts have since gone to Europe and Ward seems to have no interest in reclaiming them – there’s scarcely an American in the top 20 at his weight yet Ward wants to stay at home and fight domestic opponents. Were it not for the super six I doubt we’d ever have heard of this guy. He needs to get new management ASAP.Posted October 4, 2013 4:30 pm
