Danny was a half pound over—then he stepped back on the scale and wsa dead on.. His team knew it.. They brought him to weight to the ounce.. so they kept weighing him until the scale registered the correct weight.. Matthysse had a grimace on his face, but he let it slide without commenting.. What could he do anyway?

Are they going to rig the scale in the time it takes to step back on it?

PE, no that never happened. One time I weighed in at the hotel dead on but at the weigh-in was 2 lbs light. The hometown fighter was overweight and his trainers rigged it. As I said these scales are calibrated accurate as hell, unless they deliberately mis-calibrate it. But as I said this will not affect the result. It’s still the best fight on the card so may the best man win. I’m confident it’ll be Matthysse.

PE, I’ve got plenty of respect for both Matthysse and Garcia for stepping up to each other. But that scale was rigged or the commissioner allowed Garcia’s camp to lobby them. Make weight honestly. Anyhow it won’t affect the outcome. Matthysse wins by KO.

Garcia has a 50% KO ratio. Matthysse has 100%. Garcia better think twice before wanting to trade bombs with the argentinian. MATTYHSSE BY KO!

Hidalgo I agree, that Garcia weigh-in was bogus. He missed weight and his camp lobbied the officials to rig it. A calibrated scale does not have variance of 0.5 lbs. Anyone who boxed or wrestled and had to make weight knows this. Frankly I think Al Bernstein as a so-called broadcast journalist should’ve called them out. Instead he brushed it off. BS. There was no outcry from anyone in the boxing media because they are a bunch of sheep.

terror tim

This is half the reason I am getting the fight tonight. Great fight. Winner is the Champion of 140 the loser will still have lots of great fights. It can’t see it being that one sided. I think Matthysse gets the knockout in a competitive bout.

50/ 50 fight…..but I say Danny goes sleep, TKO, late RD 10

Shatterd Dream

Hard to predict who’s going to win this one, like so many others i was very impressed with how Lucas beat the usually durable Peterson, i think that victory gives him the edge. It’s hard to rule out Garcia but Lucas does look like the real deal.

“but I wonder what’s up with the missing 0.5 lb from Garcia.”

Fight Aficianado, nobody had a problem with the scales except Danny Garcia. Even on his “second” weigh-in, Angel, Danny, and others had to convince the official the scale read 140. Sorry, but there was something fishy about Dannys weigh-in. I guess with all the titles on the line, they had to make sure the fight happened as planned.

I think it is the wrong time for anyone to beat Matthysse right now – he is just murderous and will stand in with Garcia and break him down. Should be a slugfest as long as it goes.

I think Matthyesse wins but hopefully not too fast, I usually always cheer the underdog so I hope Danny at least gives him a good run for his money ad gives us all something to cheer about. Garcia is being writte off by many which is plain crazy when he’s beaten everyone in front of him so far.

garcia and floyd to win by ppoints 8-1! mathysse going get beat again if it goes distance..

Posted September 14, 2013 4:38 am

My take on this is that Matthysse will win inside 4 rounds. You can get 9/2 at the moment….which seems pretty good value to me.

Matthysse and Garcia look to be in great shape. Matthysse was ripped and ready as always but I wonder what’s up with the missing 0.5 lb from Garcia. Bernstein claimed it happens with calibrated scales. WHEN? I never saw that happen one time. Anyhow, Matthysse by KTFO or when Garcia’s crazy methhead dad throws in the towel and craps his pants.

Squared Circle I was talking about Matthysse and Garcia regarding them both looking thin. I’m probably too high on my fight night weight estimate though. More likely between 150 and 155.

Posted September 14, 2013 12:42 am

Morales was way past his prime and weight class. He should never have been allowed to fight again. He had been way over weight, out of shape, not stamina and lost power on his punches. How sad…………….that was not the Morales that I once knew. However, even though Morales was way out of shape, he still landed punches on Garcia. If he can land those punches, then Matthysse will land his punches which are quicker, harder.

While bettors rushed to support Garcia on Thursday, dropping Matthysse to a minus 240 (more than 2/1) favorite at MGM Resorts’ sports book, Matthysse’s favorite status along with opinions from writers that Matthysse’s power will defeat World Boxing Council and World Boxing Assn. champion Garcia (26-0) enraged the father.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

My last comment was intended for a different thread. My bad.

Yeah Hidalgo… Canelo is looking ripped at 152lbs and is going to be lean, mean and fast tomorrow night. I bet he steps in the ring at around 165lbs, give or take a couple pounds.

Posted September 13, 2013 10:05 pm

They both looked real thin. I bet they step into the ring weighing around 155-158 lbs. each.

Posted September 13, 2013 9:47 pm

Matthysse will end it fast by the fourth round.

Danny will be destroyed it will probably be a TKO.

Posted September 13, 2013 8:46 pm

LM does not want to leave this to the judges. LM KO 5

Posted September 13, 2013 8:12 pm

Matthysse by KO middle rounds 5-7

Posted September 13, 2013 7:48 pm

So you would demote Matthysse to a “gatekeeper” if he lost a split decision to the current Lineal light welterweight champ? Your completely wrong my friend. They are the best 2 in their division I’m confident Lucas will be a top 3 140lb boxer for a little while yet.

Posted September 13, 2013 7:42 pm

I think both guys may visit the canvas. I think Garcia will take it.
