No I think Sprot different cornermen and not sure they upto the job as never seen them before ..any boxer as journeyman need experience to pick non punchers .sprot had loads a fights and s don’t need punchers ..bad matching

Sprott is a hard man to stop, so this is a good win, but, at 31, Teper nees to make a move soon.

the voice of reason

interesting win – sprott is past his best but is still as tough as nails and to stop him so quick is a good result. i see he also stopped cisse salif which is another very useful win as salif is very durable. Havent seen the guy but these look like very promising wins to me.

Roman, Gerber scored a tko win over Sprott which was disputed by Michael. Then Sprott won a rematch. I take your point though.

Looks like Sprott came forward and walked into a shot close up. Decent win though even though Sprott loses a lot these days. Gerber couldn’t do the same in two fights and he’s challenging for the European title. Teper can put himself in the mix at Euro level, but he’s hardly gonna be a world champ.

chitownfightfan…I hear what your saying but heres the problem.Price is the perfect example,a guy turns pro late then at 29 to 32 faces a big lost. Then like Price he changes his trainer, has to work on a number of issues make major changes at 30.Sometimes swiching from amature to pro dosent fit everyone, more work is needed then excpected and the older you are the harder it is.If a pro takes a lost or two at 23 or 25yrs old he can work on his flaws, and make changes, its much harder at 32.Even a guy like Pulev who seems to be making a move as a older fighter and is doing okay, really isnt home free yet.Because Pulev has his pretty big flaws aswell, and is past 30.But after the k-bros. and maybe Haye there really isnt a killer row yet waiting at hvwt,so maybe Pulev can pull something off with his flaws. But if some of the younger fighters devolpe into something abit special and start coming on,Pulev will be in big trouble trying to workout his short coming at his age.I still belive in the old school ways of bring a hvwt. up at a young age…move him carefull, but not overly carefull.Plus if a kid is really special its better to get the belts at 25-26yr old and rule the div. for 10yrs(great for the pocketbook aswell)then get the belts at 33 and maybe only keep it for a couple of years, which would be pretty commen it most cases.

Fight Scribe

Very premature to be calling Joseph Parker and Hugh Fury the future. Both are in the formative stages of their career and we have to wait to see them under pressure in seeing how they react. We can’t deduce much at this point because they’re both fighting has beens and never weres.

Mick the Marmalizer

If managed correctly then Joseph Parker & Hughie Fury could be the future.

Erkan Teper German? hahahahahah….Beating Sprott is not exactly that difficult. The writer is really off the mark on this one.

Wow, he beat Sprott? Only 31 other men and women can say the same. This 31 year-old kid is the future! lol

Pulеv еаt this mаn for dinеr

Decent stoppage but methinks Slatter is making a bit too much of it. Watching Teper step up MAY be interesting. Lets wait and see.

@ dwc…….I agree that a 31 y/o prospect is a bit on the stale side, but it seems these guys are really moving at an incredible clip.

Mago for instance has had like 4 fights a yr and his LOC is stting in the high C level. He’s ready to step in now with a contender at 32.

Better to stay AM a little longer but jump right in like Pulev has be challenging for a title at 31 having beaten genuinely legit competition.

BEARS I posted a 2012 Youtube link where in my comments below, Teper gets decked and doesn’t look too good. I’ve also watched the Sprott KO, but it was taken off a vid cam so you can’t really get a close up view, but the initial knock down looks like Sprott partly walk onto it as he threw his own shot. Teper is big and strong but I don’t think Tepler is really even a “prospect”………perhaps a fringe also ran.

Erken Teper. Never heard of him. Will have to get some tape of this guy watched on youtube. thanks for the article telling us about this new prospect slater.

rectal ranger

first of all, teper is turkish not german! and stop talking like as if sprott never got stopped before

Posted September 1, 2013 4:30 pm

Brother X

Teper already has a better resume than petite girl-beater.

Posted September 1, 2013 3:29 pm

Is there anyone besides Slater who feels that Teper is one to watch??

Posted September 1, 2013 2:50 pm

So sick of hearing about these up and comers who are 29 to 32yrs old.One big set back at this age and its to much…how much improvement are these old timers going to get at this age.

Posted September 1, 2013 1:54 pm

KL – I agree with you

Posted September 1, 2013 1:09 pm

Hosteen, I know you think Wilder is no good……..but I’d wager this bet, Wilder will go further in his career than Teper!

Posted September 1, 2013 12:35 pm

Dionysus – Very well put – Slater often hears about a BIG knockout and is immediately motivated to write an article hyping the winner but always forgets to step back and put things in perspective by not accessing whether the loser had any fight left in him going into the bout or not – Wilder fights are a perfect example

Posted September 1, 2013 12:28 pm

I think thi fight answers more about where Sprott is in his career as opposed to Teper.

Teper got knocked down in 2012 fight with Oloukun Teper is big but his punches don’t look that powerful or fast. Nothing special, at best Teper could become a fringe contender.

Posted September 1, 2013 11:35 am

Teper has been knocked down – Hmmm

Posted September 1, 2013 10:49 am

It sure would be much easier to get excited about him if he were 21 instead of 31

Posted September 1, 2013 10:34 am

No “nickname” for him in the headline?
