we don’t know what will happen when he fights a true challenge. all these American boxer haters are punks. We shall see….

Wilder lookd great in this fight, and the division can use new blood and big punchers. It is now time for him to move up and fight top men. This is no knock on Wilder; he did what he had to do and was impressive, but Leikhovich has nothing left and should not be fighting.
Wilder does not need this sort of opponent any longer. He is ready for more.

Posted August 12, 2013 7:27 am

I see Good

not bad WILDER will give you many many KOs He fights BUMS.

Posted August 11, 2013 10:17 pm

Liakhovich didn’t seem to be in his right mind before the fight. If he wasn’t damaged goods then, he is now.

Posted August 10, 2013 8:40 pm

not bad

Oops I mean I DO NOT want to see big guys boxing like Wlad. I want to see guys with the killer instinct.

Posted August 10, 2013 7:06 pm

not bad

While he’s not proven, Wilder at least is bringing some excitement back to the HW. It’s all about the KOs. I don’t mind the little guys boxing but I want to see big guys boxing like Wlad, I want to see KOs every fight in the HW divisoin.

“Fight aficianado, Wilder didn’t put him to sleep… He was running in place,… Remember?” – Yeah I must’ve forgot. LOL.

This just in: Wilder’s next opponent is Peter McNeely.

Posted August 10, 2013 6:53 pm

Wilder destroys Liakhovich… bring on Oleg Maskaev!!

NEWSFLASH; Wilder to fight Bruce Seldon, then Danny Williams !

KL, agreed. The way Wilder put Liakhovich to sleep is far more impressive than the fact he won by KO, which is what virtually everyone expected. That kind of highlight reel KO is what builds fan interest. I was out late last night and don’t know if it made Sports Center’s Top 10 plays of the day. Anyone know ?

Are you serious?
Golden boy greased the palms of that has been wbo champ.they wanted wilder to look super powerful to keep the hype train rolling. When a guy gets knocked out and he’s really hurt he doesn’t convulses like that. He is a dead meat like Pacman in his last fight with JJM.That looked WWE to me. It wasn’t a big shot , what a shame that people beleive it was real. Fake!!!! Fixed!!!!!!

Posted August 10, 2013 2:07 pm

Obvious typo below……….no need to explain!!!

Posted August 10, 2013 2:06 pm

Fight Aficionado, true, both Jennings & Helenius stopped Liahkovich, but both also got taken into the beginning of the latter stages of the fight.
Neither Helenius or Jennings could stop Liahkovich anywhere near as quickly as Liahkovich……..and that is the most impressive thing……..not that he managed to KO Liahkovich, but that he managed to do it so quickly and efficiently, with speed and power.

After that spectacular KO I think a lot of American fans who weren’t aware of Wilder will be now. If he can keep this up against top 30 opponents then he’ll get some real hype. But let’s remember Sergei has been stopped in 3 of his last 6 bouts. His durability is gone so the KO was more impressive visually than in reality.

Posted August 10, 2013 1:42 pm

Dyonisis I know you think Wilder was a hype job, but did you see an improvement in Wilder last night? No wild swings this time from Wilder.
Haye aside, I think Wilder is the fastest puncher amongst the contenders that I have seen and I think it is Wilder’s speed of punch that will get him by many contenders BEFORE they can land any heavy shots on his chin.
Too soon to say If he could beat Haye, but Wilder could easily beat the likes of Wach,Ustinov, Fury, Scott, Chisora, Heleniuis right now.

Posted August 10, 2013 1:42 pm

Dyonisis The USA is DESPERATE they CAN NOT STAND NOT having the JEWEL in the CROWN they own for 100 years or better. The HEAVY WEIGHT CROWN.. ha ha ha ha once the KLITCHKOS hang them up. SEND ALL BELTS TO ENGLAND do NOT pass go do NOT collect 200 dollars ha ha ha ha ha ha. BIG MOUTH DAVID HAYE will have the BELTS. I dont LIKE him but hes the BEST when the K brothers retire HAYE knows it.

Posted August 10, 2013 1:28 pm

Ok, te hyped up wilder talk Is gettin to be a bit much. Someone said “and people were sayin saying David Haye would beat Wilder”. Guess what, that was me! And Haye WOULD beat Wilder! Just remember when you bring yourself back to reality that he beat a guy that not only was far past his time but already looked like he wasn’t all there last night before the fight. I think something mentally happened to him in the Briggs fight and after all the punches exchanged from Brewster. But hey. If you’re convinced after he fed impressively off of another bum, you are easily amused. Have your day in the sun. I like how a jab from Liakhovich snapped Wilder’s head and pushed him back several feet. He looked like e had to reset himself. That was interesting and funny.

Posted August 10, 2013 1:04 pm

Wilder needs to step up with a live opponent ASAP or he’ll continue to look like a bum bomber instead of a contender.

Posted August 10, 2013 12:38 pm

It wasn’t some highlight KO to the chin. Just a bit unusual circumstances.

Those are super-heavyweight with super heavy hands. The first powerpunch just stunned but the second powerpunch was landed exacly on the ear of the White Wolf. it wasn’t some usual punch, it was pure mule-like powerpunch landed on the ear, visibly snapping his head. Since humans balance sensors are on the back of ears this causes total loss of balance once those sensor are shocked with a massive blow and deformation, hence guy couldn’t controll his lower body and shivered on the ground thinking how to control his legs and get up but limbs just didn’t respond to his will.

It’s Me, Ernie

I agree John D., Liakhovich looked scared to death before the fight. That sure was a frightening reaction he had after being bombed by Wilder…

Posted August 10, 2013 12:24 pm

It’s Me, Ernie

I’m a huge Larry Holmes fan, just stating the facts…

Posted August 10, 2013 12:21 pm

As for WILDER I would do the SAME thing calling out ANY KLITCHKO WHY NOT???/ David HAYE play that GAME and became a INSTANT MILLIONAIRE… Sure WILDER has NO CHANCE HE knows it, HE WANTS INSTANT $$$$$$$$ . Cant blame him..

Posted August 10, 2013 12:21 pm

John Digby

I said this fight was a farce as soon as they made it. Liakhovich was done when he lost every round to Valuev five years ago. Wilder can beat his chest all he wants but Liakhovich would have trouble beating anyone in the top 100 right now.

Posted August 10, 2013 12:18 pm

Its ME ERNIE Hold on PARTNER Give your head a SHAKE. I WAS NEVER A LARRY HOLMES FAN. I HATED the BASTARD after what he done to MY IDOL Mahamed Ali. (Ali the GREATEST EVER BRO BAR NONE) Ali was to OLD to be fighting. The ONLY time LARRY HOLMES ever was in trouble was that FIGHT with RONALDO SNIPES HOLMES GOT FLOORD. KNOCK DOWN with a HEAVY VISCIOUS HOOK. Larry got up survied an BEAT SNIPES ASS. LARRY was a GREAT FIGHTER TAKE NOTHING away from HOLMES. I NEVER LIKE HOLMES I waited a LONG LONG time to SEE his ASS get a WHOOPING. Thank you IRON MIKE TYSON.. But in HOLMES prime he was UNSTOPPABLE . Dam GIVE the MAN the F$cking CREDIT HE DESERVES.

Posted August 10, 2013 12:18 pm

Come on people—get real. Knocking out a has been, or, never has been, is no great feat! My 53 year old uncle could beat Liakhovich for pete’s sake!! Wilder is doing nothing more than padding his record to eventually get a big payday. The quality of his opponents is almost laughable. He will be 32-0 with 32 knockouts, then get big money to fight Wladimir. Then, Wilder gets put to sleep. I see this coming from ten miles away. He cannot risk his record against a live person until he secures this big payday.

Posted August 10, 2013 12:13 pm

It’s Me, Ernie

That’s incorrect, Larry Holmes had plenty of competition. I don’t know where you get 10 years from, he was only champ for a little over 7 years. He narrowly squeaked by in a few of his defenses due to the great competition of the era…

Ivan Danko Yes WILDER wants blood put him in with VLAD Wilder will SEE lots of BLOOD his own. ha ha ha ha ha Dont believe all the HYPE.

I have a GOOD match for WILDER.. A man with a record fighting NO BODIES BABY JOE MESI.. A BLOWN UP RUSSIAN MIDDLE WEIGHT put MESI out of the GAME Gave MESI brain damage. As in typical AMERICAN FASHION they gave the match to MESI. ha ha ha ha What a farce only in America

Posted August 10, 2013 12:06 pm

Whatupdo Yes you are correct , The KLITCHKOS have NO COMPETITION.. Just remember LARRY HOLMES had NO COMPETITION either for 10 years also. Larry Holmes was a great FIGHTER too. Even though he was a dirty fighter A.K Holyfield Mr. Religion diirtiest FIGHTER that EVER wore gloves. I was HAPPY to SEE MIKE TYSON dispose of HOLMES in their match. It took 10 years to see it but eventually good things come to those that wait. As for WILDER fighting COMPLETE NOBODIES, Give him a SHOT at VLAD, watch what happens to WILDER. There goes WILDERS CHERRYPICKING 0

Billy why do you say it was a TOTAL FARCE?
This fight was always meant to be a baby stepping stone fight for Wilder………but regardless that Liahkovich was no longer the fighter he was……..he was “expected” to give Wilder some rounds, like he did against Helenius and Jennings.
Billy what did you expect Team Wilder to do…….put him in with Haye after beating Fraudley………of course not!
Wilder had to take a baby step like this BEFORE he challenges the other top condenders out there……..and that is precisely what he has done.

Posted August 10, 2013 11:31 am

klitschko fans should be praying Wilder gets a chance at one of then while undefeated. he’s the first legit threat to them since Lewis retired. Their legacies will always be tainted by the fact that there was no one for the to fight.

Posted August 10, 2013 11:30 am

Nick, how is it that you mention the hard punching but very crude M. Abdusalamov? Mago hasn’t done anything yet to deserve being mentioned in that list that you made.

Posted August 10, 2013 11:22 am

Big Al

It was Gary Russell vs TBA again last night. What a fraud Russell is. He was barely a footnote in last night’s event.

And Lennox got knocked down with how many punches against Rahman….

Posted August 10, 2013 10:35 am

I expect Wilder to be 35-0 (35ko’s) in 2 years time, still having fought nobody in the world top 20, and still bragging about his ”God given power.”

Posted August 10, 2013 10:30 am

Kid Blast

Perhaps Breeland and TEAM Wilder saw what happened to David Price and are being more circumspect. Criticizing Wilder seems illogical because he has not had enough showtime to see what he really is all about. What he needs are rounds, rounds, and more rounds. If he is taken deep by someone like Chisora or Thompson, then, and only then IMO, will we know what he is all about. Until that time, it’s all speculation.

robertK -Yup, I had the same thought. Grant was a beast until he met Lewis and that was a brutal beating Grant never recovered from.

Posted August 10, 2013 10:18 am

Wilder ducked Chisora, he knew he couldnt stand toe to toe with Del boy soo he intentionally committed a misdemeanour soo he wont be able to fly over the atlantic for a major beatdown

Posted August 10, 2013 10:01 am

Lennox Hedges

Wilder beat a guy who had a total two wins in the last seven years – PERSPECTIVE

Posted August 10, 2013 9:57 am

Scary KO. Deontay v Arreola, Jennings, Chisora, Wach, any of those guys next. Another point. Sergei L should stop boxing.

Posted August 10, 2013 9:51 am

Supreme Court

And Wladimir got knocked down how many times?

” une argumentation d’opportunistes”

Posted August 10, 2013 9:41 am

Okay we learned that Wilder has power, again and again but against who?? Now he says he wants to kill the k-bros. well he better stop swimming in that raindrop before he jumps into the ocean. There are so many step-ups he could face but he dosent why is that?? If he wants people to really listen to him then just fight a guy like Adamek,Johnson,Boystov,Chisora, guys that arent setting the hvwt. div. on fire…no way.But atleast they would get him some respect if he beats them clearly in a sound way, instead of fighting these sub-par club fighters and washed-up shell of themselfs has beens. And really only Harrison and the White Wolf are the only guys that done something as a hvwt. and not really that much overall,a long long time ago.Cmon Wilder step-up we really want to know what your made of.

Posted August 10, 2013 9:26 am

To those who think we should just give Wilder the title….. please remember Michael Grant…. Great body 6’7″ 250 lbs. undefeated. Very hard puncher with a glass chin-knocked down 2 times in first round by our Polish Anrzej Gołota. Was a favorite to beat Lennox…. until he got knocked out in the 2nd round…. never the same again. Klitchko will kill him.

Posted August 10, 2013 9:10 am

Another joke of a fight against an over the hill has been.
Tell me, what on earth is Wilder learning taking fights like this?
The only thing that amazes me about him is the desperate level of opposition he
manages to fight against, over and over.

Wilder, go and fight someone half decent like Chisora, who has called you out repeatedly.
Only then will I even raise half an eyebrow about this bums achievements.

Posted August 10, 2013 8:33 am

Nick I think liakhovich is more important than Mitchell, he’s a guy with crude skills and a china chin. arreola will spark him.

Posted August 10, 2013 8:31 am

Mr Gav

Next up a genuine fighter please…… Chisora, sprott, charr, adamek, gunn, toney,Browne,Gerber,? Not world class by a long shot but for 29 fights any of theses fighters will offer something other than a one round KO?

Posted August 10, 2013 8:13 am

Exiled Yank

He has major power and he looked better in this KO than that drunken slapfest he demonstrated against Harrison. He needs to step up the competition, or he’s going to be 40-0 with 40 KO’s against… who?

Posted August 10, 2013 8:13 am

brick city

His defence is suspect, he must work on it. Other then that, jes the truth, although bryant jennings could test him.

Posted August 10, 2013 7:30 am

Name is Helenius, eli nimi on Helenius. Vitun vatipää

Posted August 10, 2013 7:25 am

Too bad he is probably never going to be set up against anyone important in the HW division. D. Hay, D. Price, T. Fury, D. Chisora, S. Mitchell, T. Thompson, O. Solis, C. Arreola, A. Povetkin, M. Abdusalamov and of course the K Bros are the top. Setting him up against anyone else is just hyping Wilder to deceive the audience and make money.

Posted August 10, 2013 7:10 am

Wilder is still untested at the moment and there isn’t a lot of top dogs out there as most are past their sell by date or guys like Liakhovich who before the fight anyone could have predicted he’d get sparked.

Wilder could be the next best thing out there to challenge one of the Klit brothers…then again he could be another version of a Jeff Lacey waiting to get exposed.

And some jokers said that David Price could beat Wilder. ahahahah! Wilder would kill him and he would kill that pathetic hype job named Hellenius. Wilder is for real man.

Wilder has real power if he hits Wlad like this, Wlad is going to get killed! Wow!

Posted August 10, 2013 6:07 am

he has replaced David price as the next big thing. Would like to see him manage a few guys in the top 15 in particular Thompson. Has all the advantages but still completely untested.
