How come I have tried 3 times to leave a comment about this article and you won’t post it? I accept I critiscize you a little ,but that’s life, we don’t HAVE to agree with everything you write.

I could snort some ink and sneeze out a better written article than this!

I think Hearn will be clever and match Groves up against another contender first, (Stieglitz, Bika or AN Other) before accepting the Froch fight, giving Groves more valuable time and experience. That way the IBF will have to allow Froch to fight someone else. They won’t want to have Froch waiting month after month. They need an IBF title fight for their own publicity. That being said Groves may lose the warm up fight and force Froch into fighting someone else on the IBF list possibly DeGale.

In an ideal World Froch fights Stieglitz next while Groves gets Bike. The two winners fight each other & Ward the winner of that.

froch will duck any meaningful contest and look for a rematch with kessler

I don’t think Froch will like like the idea of vacating, sure we the boxing supporters know he has bigger fish to fry but the general population will look it as him running from Groves and I don’t think Carl will be able to let that happen,he has to much pride,it would be a big fight with good money so why not.

point is more like…. a fighter wants to win a belt and enters in to the rules of that sanctioning body, so he should not grumble and complain when he’s told to face the mandatory challenger. IF a fighter does not like the stipulations set out by the sanctioning body then don’t fight for their title. point being you can’t have it your way just because you have become a main player in your prospective weight division. When Froch (how i have the utmost respect for) was making his way as a prospect he was over the moon when fat Mick got him to the No1 position & mandatory challenger for the WBC belt. I’m making a general comment on all fighters and not Carl here…. as i think Froch is a stand-up guy with honour.

I checked out the IBF’s official website & they have Groves ranked behind Rodriguez & Oosthuizen. So how can Groves be #1 mandatory contender?

That’s just ONE of the problems with so many “sanctioning” bodies. If a fighter is fortunate to earn two or more belts, then the pressure is on to fight one alphabet organization’s number one contender or be stripped. The belt holder must decide if he wants to wait for a bigger name to earn some $$, or take the chance of being stripped which is BS! But as I said, that’s just ONE problem with these alphabet organizations.

George Groves is also #1 with the WBC & a fight with Sakio Bika would make more sense. If he bought the WBC belt to the table then he could expect a 50% split with Froch further down the road.
