the 90s was very fragmented and really only one guy stood as the best. and got ktfo by a crackhead. still that guy was the best. lennox lewis. tua was never a champ. ibeabuchi payed a mere passing by. bowe struggled with golata and really the only guy he can really brag about is featherfisted holyfield who is one of the biggest featherfists i ever seen. the early 90s was very weak with tyson in prison and then faded into nothing. holyfield existing with his titles from garbage buster douglas. from 90-92 it was utter garbage holyfield actually fought the best of the 60s and 70s in foreman and holmes who were not good at the time. thats just sad. fighting guys 2 decades removed from their era would be like klitschKOs fighting mike tyson. i mean great heavy history there. i like all them guys you know. i think many modern heavies would hang with them many modern contenders that is. peak klitschKOs could potentially dominate the 90s. i mean you think of a klitschKO fighting trilogies or even fighting both brothers like sam peter!!!! talk about KLITSCHKO MEAT GRINDER. dudes get utterly DESTROYED. like sam got destroyed. its just crazy to think about. i cant imagine what it would be like for somone to fight a trilogy or multiple fights with a klitschKO. they would be diminished for sure. and thats what the 90s would like at worst for the klitschkos if they were there. multiple fights with a single opponent. It’s a dynamic very unique to heavyweight history. the klitschKO brothers that is. i mean. imagine if lennox had fought trilogies with both vitaly and wlad. dude might be like ali is now just off those fights. its very intriguing.

There goes another mental giant trying to make an issue that they have no clue on into a skin color dilemma. Very weak at best.

It’s Me, Ernie

The long boring list of cruiserweights and bums looking for a paycheck are THE MAIN REASON for the popularity of the sport diminishing in the past few years. Fans love the heavyweights actually fighting each other, not just holding a weak opponent at bay with their extended “jab/curb feeler” for a dozen rounds. The bros themselves have admitted they are boring at times. Real fans of the sport realize when they lose, there are always excuses for them weaseling out, injury, poisoning etc., which also doesn’t do much for the sport.
The great Manny Steward was frustrated at times with Wlad’s performances. He had commented a few times how Mayflower wouldn’t get his opponent out of there when he outclassed them. He stated fans come for knock outs, not bore fests. When his top fighters like Tommy and many of the other Kronk greats were in that position, he demanded a knock out of them and not to stink the place out. He was very wise…

Klits fighting a slew of historically unimportant fights is just more of the same Blind fans trying to sell real boxing fans that Pianeta, Charr, Mormeck, Wach and Thompson were credible bouts..

Posted April 25, 2013 2:44 pm

Lion, Jester, don’t be sad the Klits are just not important filling stadiums fighting bums in Europe is whatever.. They are diluting their own legacies facing sad comp again Vitalis an afterthought and Wlad needs to find a better opponent or fade fast upon retirement also..

Thanks for that…

The Klits are NEVER going to get real respect in the US there are too many people who have no blue who they are and never saw them fight, also not knowing who their foes are didn’t help..

coucou, well said

Posted April 24, 2013 3:02 pm

It’s Me, Ernie

Coucou, great list but the nuthuggers are currently thinking up witless comebacks for your thoughts. Basically they will type that the fighters you speak of were too small to defeat the great Klitschko sisters. Just because they had great heart, legendary abilities and didn’t understand quitting because of a hurt pinky or whatever, they would not stand a chance. Here it comes in 3..2..1…

Posted April 24, 2013 2:57 pm

Here a list of guys who would have beat W Klit : Foreman, Liston, Ali who beat them both, Larry Holmes, Lennox lewis, Holy from the fist Bowe fight, Mercer who fougt Lewis and not the grand pa who Wladimir beat, Bowe from first Holy fight, Mike tyson, and maybe Golota from 1996 and Ike Ibeabuchi.
Only his big bro Vitali could compete with these tough guys.
Wladimir has improve since his defeats under the great Steward and has excellent skills, he’s a real scientifist ala genne tunney, but he’s not a true warrior ans wasn’t really tested since his losses. The only defeat he avenved was against a shot half blinded Brewster. DaVarryl Williamson owned a KD over Wladimir the referee didn’t want to see., and no rematch was done.

Posted April 24, 2013 2:19 pm

The fact that you even tried to defend Mormeck as an opponent says it all… This ERA is the saddest in recorded HW history!

Posted April 24, 2013 1:56 pm

sredmond, I agree with you 100%
Finally someone who understands what is going on!

Posted April 24, 2013 12:53 pm

Mormeck would have beat Wepner better than clay

Posted April 24, 2013 12:33 pm

Harry, the retard

I apologize for my stupid comments earlier. I need to go back to my retard school and try to learn to read and write properly. I will also ask my teacher if he can explain to me what a nazist is, cause frankly speaking I dont know what that is. After that I will watch Klitschko getting brutalized by Sanders and Brewster and then I will cry the whole night!

Posted April 24, 2013 12:08 pm

harry – What if I said that I prefer Vitali to Wlad because Vitali likes to “fight”, doesn’t grab/clinch when an opponent gets too close, throws counter-punches, throws more than a 1-2 punch combination, has never been “officially” knocked down…. am I still a nazi troll?

Posted April 24, 2013 11:19 am

I don’t really get these posts about Klitschko dominating Haye or people saying the fight was close. Klitschko won every round (possible exception of rnd 5 if my memory serves) and dominated the point scoring, that is without question… did Klitschko hammer Haye physically? No, Haye back peddled throughout as he couldn’t land anything meaningful which meant neither could Klitschko! That’s the problem with Klitschko, he has mobility, height & ringcraft, it is difficult to change angles to beat the jab.

Posted April 24, 2013 7:52 am

I will agree that from say 2002 to 2010 the division have been weak but in the last 2 to 3 years there are alot of guys out there who have potential and are very dangerous. A new generation is emerging.

Posted April 24, 2013 7:46 am

Haye is quick compared to what’s around today but he isn’t as quick as Ali, you need to do some revision. Haye is off balances, he lunges when he punches and is quite wild with poor footwork. I like Haye, he is genuinely world class and am sure he could share a ring with Ali but Ali wouldn’t struggle to find him at all. Not the best versions of Ali i would add. Ali is also a naturally bigger man than Haye, with a longer reach, for all this talk of size. Ali and those guys went 15 rounds, Haye struggles to do 12 with his poor stamina. He looks the part but its only by comparison to the dwindled talent pool we are now presented with.

Posted April 24, 2013 4:42 am

Haye would give Ali problems. I will get slammed for saying his but he matches him on speed and is way more powerful. Ali’s jab is much better than Haye’s but their speed and ring movement is comparable.

Posted April 24, 2013 4:32 am

That’s purely conjecture – I’d say Pele would certainly get in to the current Brazil squad and am pretty sure Becker and Mcenroe could compete for slams. Those sports are not the best to select to push this ‘evolution’ idea. You should stick to track and field or motor racing, where measurable improvements have been acheived (by modern science I might add and not a sudden overnight change in fundemental human pysiology). Boxing is a craft. People who talk about evolution below clearly do no understand the theory. There are less boxers registered today, they fight less rounds, they fight less often and they avoid fighting the best, i.e fighters that would psh them to improve. These are NOT contributing factors to ‘evolution’, quite the opposite. The Klitschkos stand apart from the rest of the field as they are to some extent throw backs, they had a solid and lengthy amateur career where they put in rounds and then have ben active by the modern standard. And what is this talk of 70’s guys beeing plodders or slow, Fat Eddie Chambers is not in any way comparable to a prime Ali. You must be trolls because nobody could actually be that stupid.

Posted April 24, 2013 4:25 am

I hate to admit it but you are correct anthony. Would Becker or john mcenro win a grand slam today. Would Pale make it to the brazilian soccer team……….No

Posted April 24, 2013 3:49 am

It’s simple evolution. As other posters have said man has evolved These midgets from the 70s fat plodders like Foreman and Frazier would get murdered by Wlad. Haye would have mauled Ali, like has been said by others, Ali was just to small. Bernard Hopkins would have been HW chp in the 70s. Imagine what Peterwould have done to foreman or Frazier. Like has been said Chambers would be too strong for Ali and to quick. That’s just the conetnders of today. It’s widely known that sports evolve and we are looking at the greatest ever at the moment. Put Poverkin or Imbragimov in the 70s and we’d have never heard of Ali who went life and death with Wepner!!!

Posted April 24, 2013 3:07 am

typo I think ali was 6’3

Posted April 24, 2013 12:25 am

Sports change/evolve with time. Ali back in the day was considered tall at 6’2. We are now in a era of giant guys who have good skills and are extremely athletic for their size. guys who are 66′ to 6’9 who move very fast and can do so for 12 rounds and have learnt to maximize their height/reach. Short fat guys at heavyweight will have a very hard time now.

What a legacy by the man known as Ali. More people the world over STILL know who he is, but have no idea who the hell the current “champs” are. Not bad since he hasn’t fought in well over thirty years. Tark is a tard.

Posted April 23, 2013 11:54 pm

wlad is better than good he is great but the comp he has faced are no where near has good as him. OK lets just pretend pianeta is a great fighter just like wach and mormeck. They are not. Wlad should have fought Pulev. It is the fight we all wanted to see.

Posted April 23, 2013 11:33 pm

If you believe that then you are a stupid moron. And Stewart was with Klitchko when he lost against Brewster

Posted April 23, 2013 11:24 pm

peej, if you think that holyfield knocks out a KlichKO you are a stupid moron. HOLYFIELD IS A HEAVYWEIGHT LIGHTHITTING BUM. HE WAS A GUY FOR LEWIS BUT FOR VLAD HE WOULD BE JUST A CANON FODDER. Holyfield is just a name, he always was a small weak heavyweight.

Posted April 23, 2013 11:09 pm

Wladimir was young when he fought Sanders……..the fact that he got up three times w/o taking a knee shows he had more heart than experience back then. His suspect chin is BS……..he took a huge punch and went down……..just like anyone would have after getting hit by Corrie Sanders like that. I really liked Corrie Sanders……but there was no way he could be Wlad today…….not after ES trained him.

Posted April 23, 2013 11:04 pm

Nope Brewster TKOd Wlad. Wlad couldn’t handle the constant pressure.

Posted April 23, 2013 10:20 pm

Op Amp

lol @ prince that said, something like, WK is not greater then ali, because if ali was as big as WK, he would win in a fight. Yeah, “IF” To quote one of my english buddys on here, IF my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle. lol

Posted April 23, 2013 10:09 pm

The only man who truly beat Wlad was Corry Sanders .

Posted April 23, 2013 9:40 pm

Yea we all saw . Brewster got buttered in that fight

Posted April 23, 2013 9:39 pm

Wlad does not have better foot work than Ali. That’s ridiculous. Problem is we don’t have any heavies that can take punishment to get in and do there own damage. If we had someone like a prime Holyfield, Wlad would be KOd. The closest that someone has come to a prime Holyfield was Brewster and we all saw what happened to Wlad in that fight

Posted April 23, 2013 9:30 pm

prince no I don’t think, I’m talkin about the heavyweight Haye, the cruiserweight Haye had to cut weight, so this wasn’t Haye at full potential. Chambers has a much faster jab, better defence and Ali’s shots wouldn’t hurt him if much bigger and stronger guys than Ali like Povetkin, Peter, Dimitrenko couldn’t hurt him. And Wlad has better much skills than Ali. He has clearly superior footwork which is the main advantage, because it enables him to get much less hit than Ali. Wlad also packs a much stronger punch and has unlike Ali real one punch KO power. So really it’s a no brainer that Wlad is better than Ali because of skills and not just size.

Posted April 23, 2013 9:06 pm

Reem, you must be the one who is kidding. Chambers in the same league with Ali, thats like comparing Volkswagen Polo to a Porsche or Ferrari! And, I think if Carl Thompson can beat Haye, I think Ali can beat him as well, Dont you think?
And many people dont get. Klitschko would win against Ali just because of his size but not because of his skills. Ali would be a Cruiserweight today. I am comparing the skill level, and in that respect, Ali was clearly better and faced the better opposition as well.

Posted April 23, 2013 7:47 pm

Samuel Peter would have murdered Frazier.

Posted April 23, 2013 7:30 pm

Prince, you must be kidding. Haye is better than anyone Ali faced. Not just Wlad would maul Ali, even Haye would maul Ali. Chambers would be a huge problem too, he’s a little faster and slicker than Ali and both have about the same power.

Posted April 23, 2013 7:28 pm

Wlad would maul Ali

Posted April 23, 2013 7:22 pm

Tell It Like It IS

On 2005-09-24 WK won the NABF & vacant WBO s. IBF & WBO Heavyweight Title. He has not lost a fight since that time: For 8 years and 8 months he has been the undisputed heavyweight champion. His record speaks for itself…. When we talk Gretsky (hockey) Jordan (basketball) is there any talk about whether they played in a weaker era….This is the easy way out of giving WK full credit and his due. He is #1 and will be #1 until he retires. Get used to it.

Posted April 23, 2013 6:37 pm

Touch Of Sleep

Wlad gets too many passes for too many knock downs against poor opposition. Panell, Purrity, Williamson, Sanders , Peter , Brewster. He’s too fragile to mix with elite atg he’s. then there’s the haye fight where stood I front of him with his hands by his side and he couldn’t land with his supposed great jab. Elite power and elite movement that the greats possessed spells curtains for Wladdy k. Just as well he can divide to rule with his tougher yet less skillful big brother. Over a weak era where faded has beens and never weres like Thompson are too good for the young guns. Wlad never beat Sanders just like Vitali never beat Byrd.

Posted April 23, 2013 4:27 pm

cunningham would beat pianeta. Really crap fight. Wlad should be fighting much better guys than this

Posted April 23, 2013 12:54 pm

Neil (Pomy)

This is a bad matchup …. I know Fury is a bit of a plank, but why is Wladimir taking on an opponent that is worse than Cunningham? This match-up should never of been made!!! Bernard Bonte is f++king useless as a match-maker. Wladimir should sack this clown.

Posted April 23, 2013 12:32 pm

well said curtley, if Ali and Wlad were the same size, Ali would win as he had the better skills. That should not be difficult to see!

Posted April 23, 2013 12:28 pm

Mike Dino

I like the K-Bros, but Wlad is wasting what’s left of his prime by fighting bums. I understand the mandatory fights like Thompson, but Pianeta, Wach and Mormeck are all ridiculous choices. I get the fact that the division is thin and that others are ducking Wlad (I’m looking at you, Povetkin), but there are much better fights out there than these bums.

Posted April 23, 2013 12:14 pm

Posted April 23, 2013 11:44 am

so, now Kltschko is fighting his former Sparring Partners? Fantastic, but understandable, cause if he fought someone who is really good he could actually lose, so he keeps fighting bums, cruiserweigts and nobodies. Great legacy Wlad, I am impressed!

Haters have to bring up the PAPER LOSS Klitschko was winning all these fights on the cards when stopped even though Klitschko was green and drugged in some cases tne Klitschko gassed out. The are are only PAPER losses as we know who was greater. The paper record shows Klitschko TKTFO Purrity 11 and TKTFO Sanders 8 so it was revenged

Robert A . ; forget the name calling , but you seem to have your wires crossed as well ; Purrity was the one that was getting the ” beating “,
but in those days Wlad was brash and green and simply got tired of hitting
the durable Purrity for almost the ENTIRE fight ! If you don’t believe me , google the fight and check it out ! And I don’t know what records you are checking , but Wlad DID try to fight Corrie but there was a conflict and then Corrie was out of it . So , don’t make it sound like Wlad was ever running from
anybody .

Robert A. said ” the record indicates that Wlad never sought re-matches against the 2 other fighters who gave him clear cut TKO beatings ” a record show wins and losses not whether someone wanted a rematch or not.
We all know that Wlad is way better than Purritty and Sanders, we also know that Wlad hasnt ducked enyone. Purritty knew he was lucky that Wlad gassed, records show he was taking a hell of a beating. Sanders was done after Vitali mauled him. Records show that he had a few fights against some local nobody´s. And then he retired.

Posted April 22, 2013 5:53 pm

Ross Purity didnt give him a beating. He fell over from being gassed.

UNBIASED: I see that you’re calling someone here a fool? You also state that W-Klit has revenged his “on paper” losses? Other than reversing the loss to Lamon Brewster, the record indicates that Wlad never sought re-matches against the 2 other fighters who gave him clear cut TKO beatings – Corrie Sanders and Ross Puritty. With that being a matter of record, may I ask who is the real fool in this thread?

Unless the lightning strikes from the clear sky after Pianeta Povetkin is next for Wlad – as “unification” (for the paper belt that will probably be given away for some lower class champ again). Then hopefully Fury, Pulev and hopefully Wilder is ready by then too, Arreola can be in the mix too.
