Guerreros win for this fight is the
Fact that he
Has scored a big money
Fight.his chances to beat may weather are slim to none. If he stays close to may weather he can stayin the fight ,if he fights at long range he will get his handed to him.

Posted April 15, 2013 8:17 pm

they better get a good referee for this one, or Guerrero will look to use every dirty trick in the book as he did with Berto.

Posted April 12, 2013 12:43 pm

this will be a good fight

Posted April 10, 2013 2:44 pm

Floyd should box him. When Sr. is with him Jr. also uses his Jab more which makes fights easier for him. Fans that want toe to toe wars don’t care about Intelligence or the fighters health. Fighters that can’t do will go toe to toe. Fighter that can do will box in the “Sweet Science” and avoid as much damage as possible.

Floyd also risks losing if he goes toe to toe. After seeing Guerrero fight Berto, with holding his head and hitting him, head-butts, rabbit punches….forget it. Why should Floyd be dumb enough to get involved with that?

Floyd just has to be cautious of not being offensive enough because he has done that in the past. Close rounds may not go his way.

Posted April 10, 2013 1:39 am

Bottom line is Guerrero has to bring it to Floyd. Floyd will outbox him all day. This is an easy win.

Mayweather got to where he is by fighting his fight. His fight isn’t about blowing other fighters out, and risking the chance of getting countered. He’s not going to change up things for Guerrero, it’s Guerrero who has to do that. Guerrero will present some problems for Mayweather, but uses age is a factor Mayweather will win 70-80 percent of the rounds with slight chance of a late tip win.

HIDALGO, i don’t believe that even the very “best” stand much of a chance v. a still-prime Mayweather. his breakaway skills, talent, and ring-smarts make him a one-man welter-duo of Klitschkos. that’s how dominant Floyd is at welter. only full-fledged middles like Ward or Martinez can be favored v. Floyd who is barely a full-fledged 147lbr. consequently, Mayweather is untouchable at welter and even a couple of pounds above, which i don’t want to see ever again.

Posted April 9, 2013 11:00 am

If you think Mayweather will run you haven’t seen his last 3 fights. He doesn’t have those legs anymore, he moves but doesn’t run as much as he used to. May is bigger than Ghost. Look for stoppage ala Ricky Hatton…. don’t even buy the PPV.

Posted April 9, 2013 12:45 am

“conversely, i can’t name nine welters who I would definitely favor over Guerrero. there’s Mayweather, followed by Broner, followed by who?” Te tumbo, it would have been more realistic for Guerrero to fight Malignaggi first. They are two seasoned champions but neither, IMO, could beat Floyd. Most of us boxing fans know that it’s a given that Floyd will be Robert. So why all the hubbub over this fight? Gotta hype it you know? Make people think they are getting something special for their money. As for “followed by who?” I can’t name nine welter’s either that I would favor over Guerrero, but there are a few: Bradley, Broner, Marquez, Malignaggi (yes, Paulie!), and possibly Devon Alexander. And if they’d move up in weight: Matthysse, Garcia, and Peterson. Guerrero is getting a gimme fight with Mayweather. Floyd is getting another gimme win. Makes sense to me. But Floyd’s not fighting the best out there. Not by a long shot.

Mayweather has the ability to switch fight-plan in mid-round, which makes even a sincere assertion of his intentions before a fight nothing more than his expressed intention. otherwise, if Guerrero betrays a glaringly porous defense, look for Mayweather to toss the “boxing” fight-plan out of the ring and begin to slug his way to a punishing win. Money’s got it like that.

Posted April 8, 2013 7:19 pm

Why does he have to “hint” that he’s going to box and not slug? Everyone and their mama already knows that. In other words, we’re all going to pay $70 to watch Mayweather throw sparingly and fight cautiously.

Posted April 8, 2013 5:58 pm

This is going to be an easy payday for Floyd. He’s not going to run, he’s got heavier hands than Ghost why would he do that? You’ll see an Ortiz like beating…… its a mismatch.

Posted April 8, 2013 5:39 pm

That means Mayweather is going to RUN.

Well not much to say bout that. Ward is the truth

Posted April 8, 2013 2:25 pm

Mayweather is getting abused for having physical advantage over his apponants ,last time out he took Cotto on at full 154lbs and then some calling him out to fight Martinez a middle weight who he would give away 20lbs too but that would be ok?.if he did take on Martinez he would easy out box him and still get abuse coz he wouldn’t get involved in a brawl so why bother he never gets break from the haters, there’s no WW who can touch money may that’s not his fault .Guerrero’s as good as any at the weight but why slug it out with a slugger when you don’t have to HIT AND NOT BE HIT is the name of the game.

Posted April 8, 2013 2:23 pm

Martinez is way too big for floyd. However I agree floyd should fight perhaps the winner of canelo and trout. Or maybe pacquio if they both can put ego’s aside and reach a deal good for both parties. But Martinez way too big! Martinez should be worried about GGG or even ward! Guys more his size

it’s silly to make Guerrero the focus of discussion for this matchup. Floyd and Floyd alone is the primary focus of intrigue and suspense. otherwise, boxing or slugging Mayweather dominates and defeats any welter out there. conversely, i can’t name nine welters who I would definitely favor over Guerrero. there’s Mayweather, followed by Broner, followed by who? Guerrero is solidly in the middle of the welter pack but that means little considering the elite ceiling separating #1 Mayweather from everybody else.

Posted April 8, 2013 2:00 pm

the only fight i wanna see floyd in, is with martinez.. he getting no more of my money otherwise… Mayweather, fantastic boxer, the best i have ever seen live.. But too calculated in his matchmaking now for me.. He’s gunna win this, easily, he has too many physical advantages before he sets foot in the ring. Beside the obvious skill differential. And i do place the blame for the Pac fight not happening firmly on his doorstep, as he should have never started the drug testing crap in the first place, or at least agreed to the 14 day cut off, which is ample time… What happened after is irrelevant, if he didn’t make the initial request the fight would have happened, end of.

Posted April 8, 2013 1:09 pm

this is what makes floyd the best fighter ever. why brawl when u can box. one dimensional brawlers warriors or not have very short careers. being a warrior is cool. Being intelligent and skilled is alot better. Thats what boxing is. Hit and not get hit and win! Being a warrior will shorten your career. Ask fernando Fargas, ricky Hatton, Arturo Gatti rest his soul!

Posted April 8, 2013 11:50 am

Exiled Yank

Guys like FM have ong careers and usually end them on their own terms. That’s the benefit of being able to box. They don’t take abuse every single fight. Sure, guys like Gatti, MP, Hatton, make us all stand up cheer, but their careers rise and end fast. Even Gatti and Hatton knew this, which is why they both tried to become boxers towards the end of their careers.

Posted April 8, 2013 10:29 am

Of course Fm is going to box. The man can fight and maul on the inside if he sees that it will help him win, or he will move and and throw lead rights from the outside or set-up counter punches. If brawling works best, then he’ll do that too. But there is no way he’s going to only fight one style in a single fight. He will enter with a plan, but if and his corner see that a change needs to be made, then he’ll make it. He’s too smart to only have one style. This is why I like fighters like him, Hopkins, Ward, JMM, and JC, these guys are smart and adapt to the fighter in front of them. It’s what makes them special.

I REMEMBER writing this very same thing, re Floyd needing to box clever vs THE GHOST about 5-6 months ago and people thinking me crazy back then….

My reasons for this viewpoint is that The Ghost is adept at getting better boxers, better punchers and in fact better fighters into his spider’s web of maul, hold, wrestle, rough-house and generally take them out of any gameplan they entered the ring with….

His last two bouts vs much stronger and bigger men than him in AYDIN and BERTO proves my point. Guerrero did not elect to box them like he could, but chose to get into them and make this a war of attrition, deep down in the trenches, where fouls, butts, low blows etc, were much more than commonplace.

Floyd can make this an easy night for himself if he gets back to the guy who took on Ricky Hatton, neutralising him with ring smarts in the first 4-5 rounds before taking the fight to Ricky….

I would like Floyd to mix up how he fought in three bouts: His razor sharp counters vs Phlipe The Bomb N’Dou (the heavy punching, taller Lightweight), where Money led with his triple right hand leads/ counters…. The footwork and upper body work he produced against ARTURO Thunder Gatti (RIP)…. that night Floyd used his brains and ringsmarts in a punch-perfect performance where he was in place to punish any mistakes the bamboozled Gatti made in a flash and in his dominant boxing display he produced over the much bigger and heavier OSCAR DE LA HOYA in terms of his jab…. Floys outjabbed a man who was thought to have the better and more dominant lead hand over him. He even managed to back up Oscar as his jab became ever more dominant in the bout and he will need this to keep The Ghost honest and provide him the distance to rake The Ghost with lefts to the body and rights over the top….

Floyd will need this jab both to make the distance, which will give him the means to dictate the pace of the bout, which he will not want to get into a shoot’em up style shootout, but a cerebral game of cat & mouse, which will have The Ghost wondering where Floyd’s next attack will come from….

Floyd is the master of the percentages and a shoot’out evens up the percentages whereas a boxing masterplan increases the percentage in Money’s favour…..

If I were Money I would elect to box behind a dominant jab, get a rhythm and avoid all the traps The Ghost will lay for me to walk into.

The worst thing Floyd can do is to walk in flat-footed and take on The Ghost at his own game…

Box-move-counter….. is the order of the day for a 12 UD for Money May!!!!

I think a lot of people are a little confused regarding the difference between a demonstration of the Sweet Science and sheer barefaced shameless cowardice. There’s a huge difference between the art of hitting and not getting hit and shi!ng your pants at the thought of getting hit and not getting hit.

But if you’re asking me which fighters I have an allegiance to or root for, well I’m an absolutely massive Andre ‘SOG’ Ward fan.

The Prince

Floyd clearly saw the Bradley fight and said: “I’m not going to fight foolishly like he did.” Good for him.

Posted April 8, 2013 3:59 am

So Pac cherry picks and you claim he is the best. I’m not saying Floyd doesn’t cherry pick but Manny does the same thing. And just cause he does not go toe to toe with every fighter does not make him a coward. This is boxing, the sweet science. The object is to hit and not get hit. Yes we have a a couple good weekends of fights but not celery ody fights like that nor should they

Posted April 8, 2013 1:14 am

Mayweather tried to be a real fighter with Cotto until he received a taste of what real fighting is all about. He has no guts to fight toe to toe like real warriors do. Instead he’ll run, run and try and counter, but as I have sid before, Guerrero will beat Mayweather because his time is ripe for his first loss. he will then be able to say nothing about his tainted (Castillo beat him) undefeated record. He is definitely not an ATG. The real P4P boxing champion and best ever is the legendary Manny Pacquiao. He may have been beat by that cheater Ped Puncher Marquez, but Manny Pacquiao ran from no one. He won more titles than any boxer in the history of the sport. Manny Pacquiao is arguably the best ever and his titles prove it. Mayweather will lose this fight. Just watch on May 4th, and you will be in for a surprise. Robert Guerrero will win a unanimous decision and win the welterweight championship ofthe world. And I will not be surprised, but Mayweather fans will.

“when Mayweather Jr. stood in front of Cotto all night long and slugged with him to make the fight more fan friendly.” This is such hogwash. Anyone, no matter how good they are, doesn’t get an easy ticket when they fight Miguel Cotto. Floyd didn’t do anything in the way he fought to be fan friendly. He tested and analyzed his opponent then fought him in the manner that yielded the best results. Period.

Herbert.. Why are you championing such ignoble traits as cowardice? Are you a natural born coward like your baboon-eyed idol too? I bet you are you little wuss. You’re probably terrified of wasps and sleeping alone in the dark. Bet you still wet the bed and bawl your eyes out when when mummy doesn’t bring your beaker of Ribena and orders you to share your gingerbread man with your sister.

You’ve got me all wrong bro.. I don’t hate Floyd at all. In fact, I feel pity for him more than anything else. I just think he’s a cherry-picking ducker fraud who embodies too many female traits to garner respect from members of the male of the species. The fact that he also stinks of baboon’s piss and eats his own feces doesn’t win him any brownie points in my book either. Real talk. Wu Tang Clan ft. Posted April 7, 2013 10:12 pm

You may be right about him being the best southpaw. Though I would say Judah was the best southpaw Floyd has faced, well at least for 6 rounds. We will have to see about Guerrero because I’m really not all that impressed with it. I’m more interested in seeing the trainers fight to tell you the truth. Floyd banks 30 mil a fight, I don’t think he is too worried about what Pac could potentially bring in. Pacs numbers have been slipping for a while now

Posted April 7, 2013 10:07 pm

IF Floyd cheated Marquez then Pacquiao cheated him TOO. Except Pacquiao cheated and LOST. Floyd cheated and WON. SO Floyd is GREATER than Pacquiao

Peej no doubt it wont break records like it wouldve but it will sell more than any other fight Floyd can make. And yes he beat Zab but like i said that was a c level fighter Guerreros a cut above in fact he will be the best southpaw Floyds fought.

The Demon in Gonzo..”Herbert”

HI!…I’m the demon in Gonzo! I’m sick!! But, I really appreciate Mayweather for his superb fighting…and his WISE DECISION to BRAVELY take matters into his own hands; not being lead by HATER fans that would have him trade bombs STUPIDLY with no concern for his HEALTH or his future! But the fickle demon I am, I would love for Mayweather to DAMAGE his brain matter, cuz I’m a BORED CRITIC that inhabits the one who fell on his head as a baby!! Like I said I’m sick!! But even in my PERVERSE state, I know Mayweather is SUPERB, TALENTED and a BONAFIDE CHAMPION!! I love Mayweather but wish him bad because my demonic specialty is JEALOUSY! When “Money” exhibits his PURE, REFINED talent in the ring I might end up damaging the one I inhabit, due to the empty carton thats located in the brain. Mayweather will RULE!! UUUGGHHHH!! I can’t stand it!! I need help!!

So are you saying Margocheato did not have a chin? Mosley stopped him in the fight prior to the Floyd fight. And Floyd has take. Some hard punches but has never been put on the canvas so not sure how you can think he has no chin. Just haterism being spewed

Posted April 7, 2013 7:45 pm

Not so sure that fight generates money like it could have back in 2010. I never wanted to see that fight cause I think Floyd handles Pac with ease. And yes that should of been a knock down when he fought Zab but winning 2 rounds and losing 10 is not a great accomplishment.

Posted April 7, 2013 7:43 pm

Bottomline, Mayweather will win. Exciting? perhaps not. Thats why they stack the undercards with good action to make up for the lack of excitement on the main event. The “real” excitement is watching Floyd getting a beating, but we all know that wont happen because he has good defensive skills. With the Cotto fight I think that he showed he was declining a bit and in the post fight interview made it seem like he “purposely” made it exciting but in reality I think he started to show some aging. Which leads me to think thats why he is smart in taking “safe” fights and thus will think more and “box” more this time around.

“Floyd had trouble boxing southpaws in his prime”-BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! Well then southpaws had a CATASTROPHE Boxing Floyd in his prime. That’s why they haven’t WON or even come CLOSE to WINNING. The closest Floyd has ever come to LOSING wasn’t vs. a southpaw it was vs. orthodox opponents. But AMATEURS will continue to SAY otherwise.

Pac is way out the picture. That fight will never happen. And why is everybody saying Floyd has trouble with lefties? This all stems from his dad saying he didn’t want his done fighting a lefty. He has manhandled every lefty he has fought. Now folks are saying he wants to box so it will be boring. He went toe to toe with Cotto and got criticized saying his legs where shot and he took to many punches and his reflexes where slowed. Floyd will get no credit from most of the haters cause all they wanna do is hate

Posted April 7, 2013 7:05 pm

I just dont think it will work for him i think that strategy will help Guerrero. Floyd had trouble boxing southpaws in his prime and now his lateral movement has slowed. Theres just no way out of it Floyds in for a fight. He will be able to outfight Guerrero in the pocket though. I get the feeling hes really trying to c if hes ready for Pac.

Big surprise here. Everyone knows already that Mayweather is safety first and will protect his 0 at any cost. The real question is if his reflexes and speed are starting to slip and if Guerrero will be able to bring any kind of effective aggression against a defensive wizard like Mayweather.
