More Excitement With Professional Boxing Event at The DeltaPlex

GRAND RAPIDS, MI –Weigh-ins for the professional boxing event Wintertime Warfare will take place tomorrow at 6p.m. at The DeltaPlex. The public is welcome to experience the excitement of this important event. There is no charge to attend the weigh-ins.

“Sometimes drama occurs at the weigh-ins with boxers not making weight, coming into the bout in better shape than ever or heated exchanges between the boxers,” said Dennis Shimmell Jr., boxing trainer and mentor. “A pro boxing weigh-in can be entertaining for boxing fans and is a chance for fans and media members to talk to the boxers prior to Saturday’s big show, Wintertime Warfare at the DeltaPlex Arena.” Continue reading

Johnny Garcia’s new opponent and more undercard bouts

February 19, 2014 An opponent for Pro Boxer Johnny Garcia Has Been Announced for Feb. 22 Grand Rapids-Athletes do not pursue a career in the professional boxing world without knowing the risks of the sport, injuries happen regularly and bouts change quickly. Johnny Garcia, of Holland Mich., was preparing to fight Jermaine White from Chicago during Wintertime Warfare at The DeltaPlex Arena, until White faced injury and had to drop out of the fight. “Boxing is crazy but it happens,” Garcia said of injured opponent Jermaine White (17-6, 9 KOs). Lee Haskins fights for WBC International Title

Bristol Boxing Star Lee Haskins will box for the WBC International Title on the March 1st show at the City Academy, Bristol. Haskins who is rated #5 by the WBC will box Elton Dharry ranked #23 who is based at the prestigious Gleason’s Gym in New York. This is a fight that will determine Haskins a secure place in the top five world rankings should he win it.
