Fred Wright & Anonymous – You two are only looking at some of his not to great moves but in the entire picture, Bernard Hopkins is a very skilled fighter and retired or taken a big part from many opponents after they have fought him and that is uniqe skills. He is hard to hit, counterboxes exellant and the same with his uniqe defencive boxing, Hopkins is an old school master in the ring and yeah the 2nd Roy Jones jr fight I don’t sure what to say but overall he is great in the ring and does his job to win rounds and fights well. Sure there are always boxers and trainers who will disslike some fighters but then again – The great Emmanuel Stewart who have trained over 30 world champions was always impressed on Bernard Hopkins and that says a lot when it comes from him who have trained more top fighters then any other traner have done in Pro boxing.

Alot of brainwashed people on this forum tat are amatuer boxing fans. BJUST BECAUSE A FIGHTER FIGHTS LONG DOESNT MAKE HIM GOOD NOR GREAT ! I agree with the others on this forum about Bernard’s quetionable dirty tactics. So what Swedish and Happy Boy and Scred are saying its ok boo bhoo if Bernard does fight dirty its ok. If you are saying that then you guys dont know what a real champion is. Bernard doesnt have respect in the boxing world especially in the gym. Other boxers and trainers dont like him. He spouts off phrases as if he some kind of Professor. Or how about the great marketing ploy early in his career of the EXECUTIONOR. With the WWE mask. All different personalities from him from someone that lives in a delsional world. So whats it going to be in this fight is Bernard going to hold the other opponent all nite then when he loses call robbery. Is he going to pull a Roy Jones 2 fakery and roll on the ring floor crying ? You guys that I mentioned dont know boxing and its sad, real sad !

“I can’t make excuses for guys fighting a man 17 or 20 years older its pathetic you should be able to overpower the geezer but Hops a tough crafty old man… All this punk talk is sad when these buff young men cannot do better than decision him…” Well, SRedmond, Hops is “buff” as well and regardless of his age, he has proven time and again that he’ll contend with the best. i just blame idiots like Tavoris Cloud who are desinted to incur a lost-to-Hopkins blemish on their young record. Bernard Hopkins is a lion killer. He has another kill in his sights right now. The lion is an idiot, however.

Are some people serius here? Bernard Hopkins’s legacy is already WELL secured and will be rememberd threw the ages. 11 years of record reign as the undisputed middleweight champion of the world with a record of 20 world title defences. The first and only man so far to conqer all 4 major world title belts (WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO) and the Lineal crown and have them all at same time. Hopkins became world light heavyweight champion at age 41 and then he regained the world heavyweight title at a record age of 46 and is still great. Over the years having in an impressive way defeated over 14 recognised world champions – Oscar De La Hoya, Felix Trinidad, Roy Jones Jr, Antonio Tarver, Glen Johnson, Ronald “Winky” Wright, Jean Pascal, William Joppy, Kelly Pavlik, Keith Holmes, Lupe Aquino, John David Jackson, Simon Brown & Carl Daniels along with numerous top contenders including Howard Eastman, Enrique Ornelas, Robert Allen x2, Segundo Mercado, Wayne Powell, Antwun Echols x2, Andrew Council and many more good opponents so Bernard Hopkins have one of the most impressive victory records of all times and will be very rememberd for all those fights. The same with his 6 losses on his record and only 2 of them are real losses (1st Roy Jones Jr fight and 2nd Chad Dawson fight), the rest where fights his opponents (Jermain Taylor x2, Joe Calzaghe among) got away with some cheap decisions and not at all masterd him in any way. Bernard Hopkins is a hard and one of the most difficult boxer ever to fight.

Whine, Whine, Whine some of the GREATEST fighters in history were hard assed in the ring and pushed the envelope… Chad Dawson was on the right track when he slammed the old man I simply see it as WEAK for guys to “Boo Hoo” about a guy that was damn near born in the 1950’s…. If they cannot deal with Bernards tactics shame on them but he needed NONE when he beat up Pascal and Pavlik, two guys who’s combined ages were barely more than Bernard is right now…. You guys sound like PUNKS@!!

Bernard as the great Roy Jones said is desperate, dirty and dangerous. Even trainers have said he should of never stepped in the squared circle. Dirty as they come.

NOPE, people are going to remember Bernards YOUNG opponents whining and unable to put a beatdown on a truly great defensive fighter… I wanted Dawson to stop B-Hop but I must have been on crack Nard is 10x tougher than these young punks… Dawson was made to quit be a Super MW in his next fight, albeit a GREAT one.

Give it up Bernard. You’re an embarrassment to boxing and to yourself with the way you carry on in the ring. By the time you finally retire all anyone will remember will be the cheating and crying to the referee. If I wanted to watch a man hug another man and then roll around on the ground I’d switch over to UFC

Hopkins is definitely SMART and capable its an obvious mistake to think that because he does not appeal to your senses X is a dummy… Calling him names won’t vacate his accomplishments he has MORE money than you, LONG AGO turned his life around and is still making fighters half his age whine.. If these young guys cannot overwhelm him there are no excuses worth hearing ie “he held” “he pushed” this is boxing either fight fire with fire or try another sport…

Bernard Hopkins, former P4P king, former unified & undisputed middleweight champion of the world for 11 years with 20 world title defences, former 2-time light heavyweight world champion, oldest man to become a recognised world champion and top it all with fighting at age of 48 years old and still look great in the ring = Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins people, Bernard Hopkins one of a kind. One of the greatest boxers of all times Pound for Pound and I’m so impressed on how he is still a dominant fighter in the ring and puts promising younger fighters to school. I truly wish he can pull another upset and defeat undefeated IBF world title holder Tavouris Cloud and then retire as a 4-time world boxing champion in 2 weight classes and renew his record as the oldest man to win a recognised world title. Then the only fights left for him would be a 3rd and final match with old rival Roy Jones Jr and then a cruiserweight contest with James “Lights-Out” Toney – If Toney can jump back again to cruiserweight (Not too likley). That would be a great end of Bernard Hopkins career legacy. I will cheer and support Bernard Hopkins to win. Go-go Hopkins!!!

Sredmond watch the Hopkins press confernace of this next fight on youtube. hopkins talks like he a ghetto streetish thug that is unintelligent. This guy got as far as he did being crafty and dirty. He certainly is not smart. Thugs have made money too in this world. Hopkins is one of them.

Hopkins is to controversial. To many questional fights he has been in using nasty tactics against his opponents. People might say that is boxing. Or that was his style. Head butts on purpose especially in the Winky Wright fight can really damage a fighter. Wright’s trainer E Lewis brought this out to attention. Dawson mention this after the last Hopkins fight. In fact he said this twice about Hop. Hop when pressured resorts to unbfair practices in the ring. He he the best middle out there. I say no. Can he be compared to the middle greats I say no again. To me Hopkins is a B rated fighter that got beat by the best like Jones and Calzaghe and the ones he did beat he used dirty antics.

You can’t ever expect someone to knock out Hopkins. The moment he gets in trouble the dirty tactics come out. Dawson fought a good fight and did what he had to do without getting sucked into some of Hopkins likes to do.

The idea that a fighter who is 47 or 48 has prime fighters “made for him” is a testament to possibly the GREATEST older age boxer in the history of the sport… People were impressed by Dawsons performance against Bernard I WAS NOT… I had slated B-Hop to be knocked out and Dawson to show some real gravitas instead it was another fight where a FAR younger more athletic man could not overwhelm Hops….You could put 100 other 48 year old fighters in the ring with Dawson, Pascal and Cloud and 98 of them are gonna get knocked out before 12 rounds… Instead Hops will win 2 out of 3 I gotta take my hat off even if his fights are HARD to watch at times.

It’s incredible that b-hop can carry on at his age,it just ashame he’s such a c##t with it.

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

It’s amazing that Hopkins is still getting in the ring to fight these young lions. I never like him much as a person, but I have mad respect for him as an athlete continuing to compete at his age.

Hopkins is more than old enough that you have to always put the disclaimer of “if his age catches up to him” but he should win this fight unless his age catches up to him. Cloud just isn’t very good. He is tailored made for Hopkins. His pressure and endurance might get to old man but I just don’t see it. It won’t be pretty, never is with Hopkins but he will get the win.

If Hopkins beats Cloud, he will break his own previous record as Oldest Boxing Champion Ever!

could be a great fight! cloud struggled against campillo, who is not nearly as crafty as bhops.
