why is it when ever a klitschko fight comes up the name lennox lewis crops up its getting boring now. The fact is that fight was ten years ago and LL won was he a bit lucky yes but he won and he was old and past it Lewis is better than both klitschko’s fact but he’s time has gone and now wlad is the best out there and deserves the credit for his long reign.

good to see there are some rational people left in this world like SREDMOND and DG…

most people write utter bull in these forums and it looks like we have vitalitards in addition to packtards etc..

->the main point is a professional athletes knee shouldn’t give up like that.

The Lewis fight does not even belong in the category of injury, if your opponent breaks your face thats called BOXING… Solis went down with an injury which was more the result of poor balance and poor conditioning Vitali got his win but the wounds he sustained with Lewis were the direct and videotaped result of punches which is the name of the game in boxing…Trying to create this NEW category to mitigate his loss is NOT gonna work and thats why he has that TKO stuck on his record and has spent the past 10 years trying to hang his hat on winning 4 rounds.

Posted January 30, 2013 11:05 am

When is the last time that Vitali knocked ANYONE out “cold” he did NOT even come close to knocking the off balance and poorly conditioned Solis out… AGAIN Klit fans are like rabid carrion vainly scraping for credit anywhere they can get it… That fight was a non-event not even worthy of much mention we learned more about Solis being an overweight athlete than we did his ability to compete with Vitali etc

When I read these posts on Solis-Vitali, it does seem there is some unfinished business. So maybe Solis being in another Klit fight makes somewhat sense (be it against the other brother). Still not convinced though

britards Boxrec website sucks again!!! Not only it’s laughable that Ali gains points every year like he’s fighting, just like they do with Lena Lewis, but now they didn’t give Vlad no points for three title defenses and moreover they took over 100 points off him!!! Now is below Vitaliy!!! I wanna ask WTF?! Vlads not American or English to be great or what???? Fk you britards BOXREC BS WEBSITE!!!! YOU ARE ALL ABOUT POLITICAL SHT, NOT ABOUT BOXING!!! It’s unheard of – To take points off the boxer cause he’s not from the states or that fkn cloudy island.

Eh, Control = outboxed his opponent, pressured his opponent etc. what in the world? What fight are you referring to? I am talking about Vitali vs Solis . Solis was hit with a clear shot, had it been more flush, Solis would’ve been out cold.

Posted January 29, 2013 10:38 pm

If Vitali clipped that’s more than need for Solis to take a dive without the knee problem. Wlad is quicker, and punch harder but moore cautios, so it should take 2-3 rounds more for Solis to make a couple mill. For a Pussivetkin he will run from any Klitschko name to the rest of his life but Saurlend needs those few mill-to much is invested in Pusvetkin

what’s going to happen when K-Bros retire ? are we going to have 8 round title fights ? I for one am tired of these out of shape fighters wanting title shots and well conditioned ones not wanting to fight anyone of consequence… there’s only a handful (if that many) that can actually go 12 at a good pace….as for a write-up on Solis’s title shot, well we could’ve done without it

Posted January 29, 2013 3:52 pm

What a waste of a good boxing ring.

Posted January 29, 2013 2:48 pm

Why this burning desire to write a narrative for the Klits/Solis fight? it was a NON-event absent Solis knee going out… Klits did NOT land some epic bomb of a punch and Solis was not giving some sort of virtuoso performance before this dud of a first round concluded…Klits was pissed because he has another dud fight on his resume (not his fault Solis leg collapsed) but trying to fill in the blanks in unnecessary given the short duration of the bout…. Sheesh

Posted January 29, 2013 11:15 am

INagree with what you say about the author being full of garbage, since in fact I sall the fight several time in utube, and I only noticed Olander Solis Landing at the most 6 powershots, and none with any signifigant impact. In fact another Cuban fighter JUAN Carlos Gomez gave Vitali much more of a chalenge. What would have happen is that OrlanderSolis would have been systamaticly beaten down, and KOED at the latest the 7th or 8th round

That pretty much sums it all up. Besides, what’s the deal with this writer? He thinks Solis’ knee just collasped on it on? He doesn’t think the VK shot to the temple had anything to due with Solis’ knee buckling? Is this writer really Farmboxer?

While I think Klitschko vs. Povetkin ia a bigger figh, we must remember that when Povetkin was with Atlas, they turned down the Klitschko fight because Povetkin needed “more seasoning.” Solis is a good fighter, but the fight doesn’t excite me. WK vs. Povetkin or Fury would be more interesting.

What’s sad is his disgusting promoter will get part of the purse and that is bitter. Most Americans do not realize just what a creep he is. As far as Solis is concerned he is not the most deserving but it will be nice to see him finally removed from contention once Wlad is done putting him down for the count. Solis will truly be only a shadow if this fight should come to pass and we will not miss the Cuban overly much.

Posted January 29, 2013 9:12 am

No, Solis is trainning since some weeks already, so he is getting ready. If his knie is fine, he is the one who is the most hardest test for Wladimir … Fury was silent until now barking at the others at his level, suddenly only when he got to know that Wladimir was considering Solis he got that impacient :-)

Posted January 29, 2013 8:40 am

And if Solis was only contacted recently then there is a good chance he only starts training now and will have to lose well over 30 pounds in 2 months time. Recepy for disaster. His fault of course, but still…

Posted January 29, 2013 7:49 am

I am frustrated because as a fan you just don’t kow what is going on. One source says Povetkin does not want the fight, another source says it’s Klitschko’s camp. Fury calls out Wlad, and now it’s Solis? Was Fury all talk then or what? And did Solis contact Wlad or the other way around and can we now expect Solis running away… As a boxing fan you just don’t know what is really going on

Okey I would LOVE to see the Wladimir Klitschko vs. Alexander Povetkin fight happen and soon but Povetkin have now ducked Wladimir for over 4 years and still does and in fact..all the top ones does the same so if the 2004 Olympic gold medalist Odlianer Solis steps forward to fight Wladimir, I will very welcome that fight as Solis is a recognised top contender and if he is in good shape he can be a tough one to deal with and like I said, Wladimir want’s the best fights possible but its hard when all ducks him despite he haves all world heavyweight title belts (Lineal, WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO) but the WBC to his brother. Its sad but I will welcome Odlianer Solis if Povetkin continues to duck him.

Posted January 29, 2013 6:34 am

NOt too enthousiastic on Solis by the way. Yes he is talented but contenders need to earn their shot. Pulev, Povetkin, Fury have done a lot more recently then Solis and as such would be better opponents. Anyone knows how much Solis weighs now. If it’s above 270, then let’s forget him as a serious contender

Posted January 29, 2013 4:42 am

I don’t understand this. The WBA ordered this mandatory defence against Pov. This is Wlads chance to make Pov pay for all the running… then there are rumours Pov does not want the fight, now it’s Wlad who does not want the fight…it’s strange. Wonder whether the WBA is not playing tricks again.

Posted January 29, 2013 4:40 am

Wlad-Pulev 2013!!!!

Posted January 29, 2013 2:13 am

I rate Solis as a fighter. I think he needs to be rather “rotund” to compete at heavyweight with his style (i.e. if he weighed his amateur 200lb limit, he’d be pushed around from pillar to post against modern professional heavyweights)… though he does overdo it (I reckon 230-240 is a good weight for Solis)
But his style just doesn’t meld well with Wlad’s. I don’t think Solis will necessarily eat too many clean shots aside from the ramrod jab here and there, but he just won’t be able to close the distance. Wlad’s movement is too good (not to mention the fact that Wlad will hug like a lover any time Solis does actually slip inside).

Posted January 29, 2013 1:17 am

Vitali was in control? Holy crap, you need to be mighty one-eyed to believe that Vitali was in any way in control of that first round. He wasn’t looking terrible, but frankly, Solis was winning that round prior to the knockdown (which based on the photographic evidence of Solis’ legs afterwards, I’m convinced was actually due to the knee injury).

Posted January 29, 2013 1:13 am

Wladimir will have no problems beating this dude, I am willing to bet he would KO Solis without question, Wlad excels when he fights an opponent with the same type of defense that Solis has. Which is ASS !

Posted January 29, 2013 1:03 am

Come on, Solis beat Airich and he deserves a Title shot? That’s NOT why he’s getting the fight, he’s solid, an Olympian, a win over Haye in the armatures, all this factors in. What !!! “Giving Vitali problems” before he was injured (got knocked out with a grazing blow to the dome) ?? Whatever, you need to see the fight again, Vitali was in control, and it was to be another fight in which Vitali methodically beats down his opponent. If you know anything, you’d know that when Vitali fights a good fighter, he steps it up and he shines !

Proud African, don’t hold your breath about the “when in shape” part. He fought Vitali for his belt and came in poor shape, he’ll do the same or worse for Wlad. He lacks any kind of motivation. His drive is shot!

Vladimir could be making a mistake fighting Solis. The latter is a dangerous fighter when in shape.

Posted January 28, 2013 9:29 pm

“this will be the best challenge Wladimir has had in a while….” Where have we heard this before? Best challenge meaning maybe wins 1 round at the most. Wlad, easily.

Anyone who is ducking the Klits is daft and finanially challenged. A fight (aka beating from) the Klits is an early retiement package. Take one to the body, fall down, take the count, and then head to Monoco. Sounds like a plan to me.

Whats wrong with this site, no boxing news just pure rubbish. Kalle Sauerland talks smack about Wlad ducking Povetkin and someone put together an article !!!
Solis is very talentet but he is also obese and in-active.

Solis was actually giving Vitali a good fight before the stoppage. I am interested to see what happens.

Posted January 28, 2013 7:00 pm

Povetkin is a partial benchmark of how horrid this era of HW boxing really is…He is the acknowledged #3 and he has about as much interest in fighting for the REAL HW Championship as he does catching HIV….He would rather be held up to derision, struggle with Cruisers and fight old men like Rahman and Boswell while praying the Klits keel over… To be honest David Haye would MOP the floor with Povetkin total athletic mismatch…

Posted January 28, 2013 6:58 pm

Vladimir ducking Povetkin? Bwahahaha! It’s more likely that Povetkin has fled Russia and gone undercover. Maybe he even volunteered for the first Russian space flight to Mars. :-D

Povo has a history of ducking Klitschko for years and struggling with much lesser fighters. Nobody is “ducking ” him, just wait.

Posted January 28, 2013 5:56 pm

Povetkin has ducked this fight for several years, and struggled with Huck in the meantime. This is Huck who in Cruiserweight terms is lesser than Cunningham, Adamek and Haye. He lost the right to make any demands. Solis, I actually quite like the guys skills, but a la Arreola he is being rewarded ffor nothing other than dropping some weight.

Posted January 28, 2013 5:49 pm

This guy Solis has no discipline, that is typical of most cuban pros. He would have been a threat to anyone is he stayed at the weight he turned pro. He like too much food.

Posted January 28, 2013 5:46 pm

I thought he was supposed to fight povetkin. Solis is a fat ass. Povetkin is not much better but i thought that was mandatory

Posted January 28, 2013 5:41 pm

Solis has done what since when? I know we are hurting for opponents but lets not try and sell Solis as a major threat especially using a single round where his knee collapsed against Vitali… At least Solis is young and ripe for the beatinG

Posted January 28, 2013 5:10 pm

Solis was without a doubt wobbled by Vitali´s temple shot, look at the slow motion replay from different angles if you don´t believe me. He damaged his knee when he went down. Solis did have some nice counter shots before this though. Could have been an interesting fight. I like Solis, still has potential i believe.

Posted January 28, 2013 4:39 pm

the problem is Solis is not in shape, he’s not motivated. In his last fight he was fatter than ever and his punches were more like pokes than punches.

Posted January 28, 2013 4:25 pm

I totally agree with the writer. Solis was virtually kicked to the curb and in my opinion he was doing well against Vitali before his knee gave out. Vitali only clipped Solis slightly and he went down. A heavyweight like Solis doesn’t go down and out with such a punch. If Solis is in shape this will be the best challenge Wladimir has had in a while.
