I’m waiting for Arum to say “maybe in early 2014.” The interest is gone. This tension expired.

It’s not that complicated BOb: fight floyd in November, no need to wait until April.

Screw the excuses. Get it done. Make millions.

Lol arum calls no shots PBF does. and I think money is tired of both PAC and arum. I din’t see the fight happening, to be honest I don’t think JMM cares about fighting PAC he already beat him 3 times and Cotto want take the match unless it is at 154. PAC is SOL and his stock is no better than Facebook. PAC better take on that new guy who just called him out no one else gives a flying fish about what PAC wants.

I am tired of theses 80yr old promoters who only bring back recycled punching bags and have them challenge for titles. Tired of seeing maybe 1 good fight on a 8 fight card. Tired of only seeing top rank vs top rank, golden boy vs golden boy, the don king option fighter who gets a title shot because you beat up his fighter gained a title but now he promotes your next four fights. tired of 10 titles per weight division.

I think Pacquiao deserved the nod over Bradley, but it’s really looking like Pacquiao doesn’t want no more. It’s looking like Pacquiao is content with the stripping of his title. It’s looking like Pacquiao is ripe for another loss. I think JMM can beat him at 140/144, and Cotto can cause him great problems at 154. Let’s not forget, that Cotto hammered Pacquiao in their first fight. It was Manny’s uncanny ability to absorb punishment, and dish out his own that was the difference. I don’t think todays Pacquiao has that same hunger.

MP productions? lol. That one has fiasco written all over it. 60/40 will be transitioning into 65/35, and lower as time passes. These guys better get their move on.

Posted August 16, 2012 9:47 pm

Pac, just retire. You cant be that dumb in thinking this is what the public wants. Arum is juicing you. Retire and come back in 6 months and let MP promotions do business with TMT promotions on a 60/40 split.

SISSY. All MEN want to face the man that defeated them. If its not Marquez or Bradley then Pac’s a bonafide SISSY…..unless he faces Floyd who is BETTER than the men that already defeated him.

Posted August 16, 2012 6:23 pm

This is exactly the mindframe of pactards. If you have anything negative to say about Pacquiao whatsoever, then you’re wrong. This is what is truly pathetic. These guys are fanatics who know nothing about boxing and have no respect for the sport. Not too long ago I saw a video from some pactard after the Bradley fight and he said he would never watch boxing again after Pacquiao retires. This is the kind of guys you are dealing with when you see someone blindly defend Pacquiao. Most of them never watched boxing before Pacquiao beat De La Hoya. They’re not real fans of the sport and they have no historical reference. Boxing is sick of them and they should just go away. We understand, Pacquiao is the greatest fighter of all time and he would beat anyone and has no flaws. We understand you’re very proud that he represents your country. Now go away.

Posted August 16, 2012 12:27 pm

Frankly, aside from an improbably fight with Mayweather, a rematch with Bradley was the only other fight I would have been interested in seeing Manny take. The Marquez fights were all excellent, and it’s no disrespect to Marquez that I don’t have an interest. It’s just that it’s old ground, and I don’t see a 4th one being any different from the 3rd. To Manny’s credit, he has gone from a one dimensional, one handed fighter to some one who was able to box with Marquez (one of the highest regarded counter punchers in the sport), and hold his own. The last fight was tough to score, as there were few break out rounds, and both fighters have a lot of respect for each other in the ring now. That’s not going to change. For the record, I had Marquez ahead by one round, but can easily see how some one would have had the opposite being true. As for Cotto? The only reason that he is even being mentioned, is that Arum owns him as well. There was no question mark on Manny’s victory, and no unfinished business. Bradley is another story. I am sorry, but I don’t see how he won. In my opinion, it was what Arum himself calls “the business”. If I was Manny, I would take the rematch, and avenge this blemish on my record in convincing fashion. That way it wouldn’t be used against me in negotiations with Mayweather for my retirement fund fight. lol.

Posted August 16, 2012 10:20 am

Pacquiao & Floyd are now relegated to exhibition fights. Talk of Floyd versus pitty-pat Guerrero and this here Pacquiao versus recycled news. This will continue as long as the fans keep buying. You want real action? Save your money for Jon Jones & Anderson Silva. You should feel the idiot for letting your money get conned away.

Posted August 16, 2012 9:39 am

Not enough fan interest? LMAO; boy Arum does it again!!!! This man is a liar if I ever heard one. Do what you must to keep the money in house!!!!!! I pray that Cotto doesnt allow himself to be suckered into another catchweight fight that we see him lose.

The idea of May and Pac fighting is finished. Really. It won’t happen. And Arum will use Pac til he’s well and truly over and walk away laughing with big bundles of cash in his bags.. MANY bags. I think fans from either fighter can see their skills have definitely diminished slightly. They have. And I actually am a fan of both. Both different and great to watch but this is caput.

Posted August 16, 2012 5:51 am

Basically all Pactards are just huge fan’s of Pacquiao. They have a deep sense of pride in this man representing their country as, in their opinion the best fighter in the world. They are completely blinded by this fanaticism. Nothing against Filipinos because they are great people and they have solid historical ties with boxing (Flash Elorde). But the problem is most of these current Pacquiao fanboys actually know very little of the sport of boxing. They started to seriously get into boxing when Pacquiao beat De la hoya, and although they do follow the sport now, their view is very distorted and they have almost no historical reference since. So really, when you see someone post a comment totally putting down Mayweather and making Pac to be the greatest and always right in every way, then he is just a proud Filipino who started watching boxing recently and just wants to support Pacquiao. You shouldn’t take them seriously.

Posted August 16, 2012 3:48 am

Pac would never cut ties with Arum. That’s his daddy.

It would be good if Bradley took a fight with Khan and put an end to that career. Otherwise Khan will fight a couple of warm ups and miraculously be back in the hunt for a title. I don’t know why Khan keeps getting additional chances, he’s been rocked way too many times for him to be a legitimate contender. If he managed to get another belt, it would only be a matter of time before we’d see the spaghetti legged shuffle again.

Posted August 15, 2012 10:21 pm

i agree pac needs to cut ties with Arum

Posted August 15, 2012 9:51 pm

Cotto will not figt without random drug testing. Marquez wants to fight in Mexico; a Mexico event will hand Pacman his second defeat. Arum has placed Pacman in bad place right now. Manny best option at this point will be Money May, Berto, Adrian Bronner, or Martinez. He is out of options and Top rank fighters.

Posted August 15, 2012 9:36 pm

Cotto demands less split than marquez so is the more likely option. Also, Cotto will agree to a catweight like all of pacs previous opponents have, why sacrifice a few million dollars for a few pounds? But the fight will be more credible this time (hopefully) at 150 or higher. And putting money aside, Cotto is the safer option compared with Marquez who has looked AWESOME at welterweight. The water-bloated marquez who fOught mayweather has been replaced with a MACHINE in recent fights. Look ahead to a Cotto rematch in November

Posted August 15, 2012 9:13 pm

The main thing that has been slipping for pac is his stamina. You cant fight father time. Put him in with cotto at 150 or higher and we’ll see cotto box him more than in their first fight, then wait until later rounds to capitalise on pac’s waning stamina. The quesion would be whether cotto has the technical ability to win on points. My guess is that pac wins by UD in a tense fight where both fighters land some big blows but cotto gets backed up too often.

Posted August 15, 2012 9:06 pm

I like cotto vs pacquiao but only if it’s at 154lbs. I’m tired of pacquiao and arum using a catch weight. When cotto was the champ and fought pacquiao at a catch weight of 145lbs. That weight obviously weakened cotto. He looked very dehydrated. Pacquiao had the advantage then and he wants the advantage again. Why? He already beat cotto once so why not fight him at the jr. Middleweight limit of 154lbs. Pacquiao needs to man up and just fight. Mayweather didn’t make cotto fight at a catch weight and what u saw was a strong well conditioned cotto. He gave a very strong effort full 12rds. Cotto deserves the respect to have a fight without having to adhere to dehydrating himself to the point where he won’t be at his best. I hope this fight is made without the catch weight . Cotto shouldn’t take this fight unless it’s at 154lbs. If anything maybe 152lbs if the price is right.

Posted August 15, 2012 8:36 pm

Miguel Cotto should make no concessions this time around. No catch weight, no “you can’t gain more than x number of pounds overnight”, no glove picking… NOTHING.

The fight should be fought at 154 or not at all. Although Manny Pacquiao returning to the pinnacle of the sport from a performance standpoint is highly unlikely, he can regain some momentum by beating Cotto. However, if I had to pick a horse in this race it would be Cotto by unanimous decision. Pedro Diaz’s dedication to the sport seems greater than Freddie Roach’s at this time. Without Freddie’s guidance Manny Pacquiao is a lost puppy. Buboy Fernandez is a glorified cheerleader masquerading as a cornerman. With nobody in his corner, Manny Pacquaio will experience a role reversal of sorts with Miguel Cotto from their 2009 fight when Cotto had to pull himself though a grueling fight without tactical or strategic support.

154 or Pac will come off as looking weak if he wins (need Mr. Cotto to drop in weight). Pac is a legit 147 lb’r. Mayweather is a legit 147 lb’r (remember, Mayweather weigh 147-148 fight night against Mr. Cotto). So again, fight Mr. Cotto at 154 Pac or not at all. Fans, don’t fall for it. don’t buy it.

what was wrong with that post? there was nothing there that wasnt factual… the only part was that Arum is not only about the PPV, but he is, he has to be, its his job, but usually the best PPV and best fights come hand in hand, as a high PPV clearly indicates the fight the public want to see and thus represents the best fights (usually)

Of course Pac is going to fight Marquez or Cotto because he’s already beaten them. What’s the point?

Pacquiao is overrated. He`s a sham and a fraud perpetrated by Arum. Just like the short-lived marriage of Kim Kardashian and Khris Humpries was a sham and a fraud. He can`t box.He can`t knock out a guy with two bad feet. He`s just a one-dimensional slugger that can be outboxed by a guy with two bad feet and the reason why there is no rematch with Bradley is because a healthy Bradley with two good feet will convincingly beat Pacquiao.

To be fair, Floyd is also a fair amoutn bigger than Pacquiao at this point. 154 would be much more difficult for Pacquiao.

Floyd and Pac have a 700K regular PPV buyers, Cotto have 300K regular buyers, that’s a sure 1M PPV buys if they fight. if they can convince casual fans that the fight is interesting, it can add another 500K to-2 Million PPV buys. that I think floyd and pac should be 50/50 purse split or 45/55 split in favor Floyd just to make him accept the fight.

900k is a success numbnutts! Anything over 200k is money in the bank. Manny did 900k with his name alone. May needed Cotto to sell his fight. May vs Ortiz needed a double-headed with a Mexican audience (Alvarez) to make any money, and it only did 1.4. For Arum is business as usual there are no angles other than putting the best marketing fight together. How is it that Manny will look weak when Manny can’t even fight at full WW. Think before you type. May is a legit WW, Manny isn’t. Manny can’t come in at 154lbs. Cotto is a small Jr. MW, he’s is slower at 154lbs. 150lbs would be a perfect medium for both Manny and Cotto. Did you ever suggest Cotto was tailor made for May I wonder.

Posted August 15, 2012 3:18 pm

How is it a scam, when it’s Arum himself saying that it won’t sell, no network is interested and no outside investors. Did you even read what you posted?

Posted August 15, 2012 3:12 pm

Pac already had a new face put in front of him, his name was Bradley. May, Pac, Schaefer, Arum, etc., are all in the money making business. It’s just plain stupid to suggest Arum is only about PPV, when was the last time you saw May on HBO, or Showtime? Manny is a small WW, did you numbnutts forget. He can’t even make full WW. So yes he’ll go for the middle ground nothing wrong with that. Cotto is a small Jr.MW so 150lbs is doable without sacrificing anything. Manny did it for JMM in their last bout. Cotto weighed in at 146lbs in the previous fight before fighting Manny at 145lbs, wow a whole pound and you numbnutts are calling it weight drained. Manny carried the Bradley fight generating 900k PPV’s which is fantastic. In the mean time May needed Cotto to make money. May has been the only reason the fight hasn’t happened. Stop blaming Manny.

Posted August 15, 2012 3:09 pm

If Cotto and Pac fight at 154 pounds, its pac’s disadvantage, If they fight at 147 pounds, its Cotto’s disadvantage, I want them to meet somewhere on the middle and I surely buy the fight. why no one criticize Ward for making Dawson come down to 168 pounds.

Posted August 15, 2012 2:51 pm

Billy Bob

No rematch with Bradley just makes me feel more like the first fight was a fix orchestrated by Arum. Honestly I am sick of it. Bradley was beat up that night and still gets the win. Thats a big difference between the pac/marquez fights. People may believe Pacman lost to Marquez, but he was not beat-up like he did to Bradley.

Posted August 15, 2012 2:33 pm

No Bradley-Pacquiao II because no network would take it! Arum’s scam does not play out! Bradley is much less marketable now than before that farce.

Posted August 15, 2012 2:25 pm

This choice of opponents should be expected. When the Pac vs Bradley PPV numbers hit and didn’t break a million buys, Arum lost bargaining position in Pac vs Mayweather negotiations. Now Arum needs for Pac to pull some big PPV numbers so he needs a big PPV partner to fight. That gives you Cotto and JMM as the best choices. IMO, if they choose Cotto, it would be smart to fight him at 154lb and give him the weight advantage. Fighting Cotto at a catchweight will look weak next to FLoyd’s recent win over Cotto at 154lbs, but giving him the weight advantage will make his victroy look better than Floyd’s. Especially if Pac won by KO again. JMM will pull the PPV numbers, but Pac won’t look nearly as good against JMM at any weight as he will fighting Cotto at 154lbs. And on top of all that Cotto style is tailor made for Pac because he can’t punch going backwards, so he’s the best choice I see.

Marquez & Pac have never had a bad fight against each other(only bad decisions). That is the best match up. Cotto should stay away from Pac (& Arum)right now. “Big Head” Bradley got a huge gift & I still think it was on Arum’s tab. All options that are not Pac & Jr. will be considered a disappointment & even that option has lost some luster.

MNboxingFAN – Sean

As a Pacquiao fan I have say I’m VERY disappointed to hear this. I don’t believe the majority of the fans want to see Pacquiao fight Marquez OR Cotto. If he fights Marquez again it’ll be the same result… a close fight, but one in which Pacquiao will dominate just enough of the action to pull out a win… and Cotto? If Cotto beat Mayweather or even if he won say five rounds against Floyd I could see the arguement… but in my opinion you’d be generous to give Cotto two rounds against Floyd. Cotto has done nothing to warrant a rematch against Manny. A fight in which he was destroyed!!! The same will happen again in a rematch. Pacquiao needs to fight Bradley again. Period. He needs to win his belt back and then MAYBE fight Mayweather. If not he should retire. This is coming from a Pacquiao fan.

Pacquaio is as eveery bit to blame as Mayweather is. I wish the pair of them would retire

Unfortunately you aren’t a real boxing fan. You are a Pac fanboy and only started watching boxing when Pac came around.

Mayweather will never fight Pacman he is only intrested in protecting his undefeated record, arums tells Lies, Mayweather tells lies, people can slag off Don King all they like, but that man would of delivered this fight a long time ago.Pacman would fight Mayweather tomorrow the question is done Mayweather have the balls to except the challenge I still think that we have missed the boat it wont happen, which to boxing fans is a big shame.

Too late …. Mayweather-v-Pacquaio has lost a lot of interest. Both are no longer at their peaks and its only a matter of time before their domination of the sport is over.

Slater – you’re like a cop who needs to fill his daily quota of parking tickets. You’ve published this same piece of non news about 5 times already, and every time it means the same thing: NOTHING.
Can’t we just wait until there’s an official announcement?

People are tired of seeing these old hats fighting each other change it up a bit. Put a new face in front of Pac like Broner. It’s getting to the point were everyone has fought each other 2 or 3 times already. Change it up, make it interesting.
