Gonzo-How much brain someone has is irrelevant HERE. What’s relevant HERE is what you know about Boxing. One thing that everyone has in common that didn’t agree with ME on MY pick is that they all picked the LOSER.

Posted November 8, 2012 3:25 pm

Well it is always difficult to compare boxers. I see Kessler as Butes big brother, a bit like I see Magee as Grachevs big brother, but nevermind that. I think most fans, would have liked gentleman Bute to change his tactic, from the Froch fight. I actually don’t look forward to Bute vs Froch 2 now. Thats boxing for you.

Gonzo the Dragonborn

MK.. Grachev might be slow, but he has pretty good timing and he’s as tough and game as they come. He hits pretty hard too. I think he’s one of those fighters that is better than he looks and more difficult to fight than it might appear. Bute hits harder than both Kessler and Froch, although both of them have very heavy hands, particularly Kessler, and Grachev didn’t even seem to acknowledge the kind of bombs that have knocked out some very durable fighters indeed, guys that have never previously been stopped before they fought Bute, so I really can’t see either Kessler or Froch being able to achieve what Bute couldn’t, albeit the worst version of Bute I’ve seen, especially early . Yeah, I agree that Bute has amazing talent. However, as you say, I’d favour Froch to blast out that version of Bute we saw the other night quickly again. He looked totally devoid of any confidence in there until the last round. In, fact, he looked like a completely different fighter once he started letting his hands go at the end.

I pick the WINNER SO much that its becoming sickening. I’m SO GREAT at picking the WINNER that its actually taking some of the fun out of Boxing. I’m taking the drama out of watching because I already know the result most of the time. Picking against ME is Prophetic SUICIDE. Just ask Zenitram. I made him RETIRE from ESB. I TOLD him that Ward was a SHARK in the water LONG ago. I also told him that being Top 5 P4P is GREATER than being a CHAMP in a higher division. Zenitram changed his name SO many times but Ward continued to SPANK every name he came UP with. SO he was forced to retire. HE also was shamed into retirement because for 2 YEARS he always SAID that Dawson would eat Ward UP. Well the Fight happened and his whole argument went down the drain. Its BETTER to sit on the SIDELINES and listen to ME rather than sound like a FOOL and dare SAY that Pascal can be Ward NOW like he SAID before……Just another poster that I personally sent into retirement. OH I retired Iron Beach TOO. The Iron Beach Story is SO GREAT that its even too much bragging for MY own liking SO I don’t tell it unless I have to…Lets just make a long story short and say that I am the GREATEST Fight Prophet ever born!!!! Adam Wiśniewski agrees with ME on that!!

“Braggadamus, I can’t believe you actually have the foolish balls to brag about correctly predicting the outcome of the pathetic, worthless Bute/Grachev fight. “-First of all its called CELEBRATING. And I celebrate each and EVERY WIN. Thats why I celebrate here SO MUCH…..Words like pathetic and worthless are a matter of OPINION….And by the sound of it, it sounds like a HATERS OPINION. I don’t concern MYSELF with AMATEUR opinion. I’m concerned with the FACTS. The FACT is that Bute WON and I picked the WINNER!!! I am the GREATEST Fight Prophet ever born!!!!!

I tell you to bet on the WINNER. I picked Bute as the WINNER and IF you bet on THAT YOU WIN!!! Well we agree about a couple of important points, and disagree about Grachev lasting more than 3 rounds against Kessler or Froch. Grachev is a slow kickboxer, who would be beaten by even Stieglitz. Yes Bute is a fantastic body puncher, but he is in general throwing less punches. Strange. Yes it is true that Grachev walked right through the good punches that Bute managed to create. A few days ago, I wrote here that Froch would face hell in Canada against Bute. Well not with this defenseless old version of Bute. I don’t know about you, but at one point Bute had real amazing talent, now -it seems to be totally gone. Bute had a string of these Ko wins against good boxers, but that was another version of Bute. Why he used the same tactic against Grachev as he did against Froch is downright weird.

Posted November 5, 2012 2:09 pm

Gonzo the Dragonborn

Neither Froch nor Kessler would’ve stopped Grachev if that’s what you’re implying? Sillakh is a lot naturally bigger than both of them and he hits like a friggin’ truck and he couldn’t do it, and Bute is a banger too and Grachev just walked through everything he threw at him like it was nothing. I agree about it being the worst version of Bute we’ve seen though. In fact, I think Bute has been regressing for quite a while now, which is odd as he’d not taken any bad beatings up until the Froch fight. His money punch is the left uppercut to the body, which is one of the most devastating weapons in the sport, but he seems to be throwing it less and less of late, and I’ve noticed he doesn’t throw anywhere near as many combinations as he used to do in earlier fights too.

Posted November 5, 2012 1:22 pm

Lets be honest -Bute looked vulnerable all night, leaving out a few seconds in the last round. Kessler and Froch would both take Grachev apart. The problem is that we don’t know if this is Butes level now. I am shocked about the Bute that showed up, to the most important fight of his life until now. I kind of wish that he stops his carreer, before he gets really hurt. This is the worst, I have seen Bute ever, sadly.

Posted November 5, 2012 9:46 am

haha Boxtradamus, you predicted a KO. Greatest Knobhead ever!!!!!!!!

Posted November 5, 2012 4:11 am

The problem for Bute is that the supermiddle division is stacked with not just champions but p4p champions. He has to be realistic, he has talent but no amount of match making is going to keep you away from those guys forever, he was able to do it for a while due to the super 6 but once that was finished look what happened. I dont think he is the type of guy who will be happy just being the 5th or 6th best SMW. His team should move him up to light heavy and call out Chad Dawson, he has the size.

Bute’s confidence has gone (as you’d expect after what Froch did to him). Hopefully he has made enough to retire on, no one wants to see the guy getting beaten up, bruised adn battered.

Styles make fights; Grachev was probably the best candidate to prep Bute for Froch…not sure how Carl will fight in Montreal… he’ll do very well, as he always does, but assume not as great as home (I’m one of those that think he’s invincible there, regardless who you put in front of him in Nottingham), …that’s why I believe the rematch in Montreal will be awesome.

Bute by stoppage – we all heard it hear first you wannabe. Grrrr. ;)

Posted November 4, 2012 11:13 am

Grachev was a former kcikboxer. One thing about these guys that fight in K-1, MMA, UFC are they are tough as nails. For some reason, boxers haven’t figured that out yet. You fight a boxer but you hit and run agianst a brawling stylist. But I agree Bute has been overrated for a long time and so what he had so many defenses against bums?

Posted November 4, 2012 11:10 am

Guys, give Grachev his credit!I ve seen major improvement in him since Sillakh fight and I think he well give hard time to anyone.Actually I wouldn’t have a problem if Grachev was given a win by a couple of rounds, and don’t forget it is his 13 fight too!

Posted November 4, 2012 11:09 am

There is only sense in Bute fighting at top level, boxing at all, if he fights the way, he did, in the second half of the last round, where he suddenly regained a sense of confidence. I am being cautious here, I have ruled Bute out after the Andrade loss, and after the Froch loss. My problem is that Bute looked scared during most of the Grachev fight, and he hit Grachev with all he had, Grachev didn’t blink. I like Bute a lot due to his gentlemanly behaviour after his Froch loss. I dare not think about -what Kessler and Froch would have done to Grachev.

Posted November 4, 2012 11:01 am

“give him a break and he’s got 10 world titles defence, he’s no joke.” My car used to be new too.

Posted November 4, 2012 10:43 am

“@Boxtradamus I quote you ‘Bute by stoppage’” MikeyRight, this “prediction” is exactly why I call Braggadamus a liar. As long as the guy he picks wins–no matter how he wins–Braggadamus claims he picked the fight correctly. Now, Putzadamus (same fool) never used to go on about betting and winning because he never did. Now he talks about making bets and winning “cash.” Again: Boxtradamus is a LIAR! Besides, this fight wasn’t worth giving that much brain power.

BTW, Bute hasn’t lost any speed or power. He’s afraid to get KOd again, so he fights like it.

Posted November 4, 2012 10:41 am

Braggadamus, I can’t believe you actually have the foolish balls to brag about correctly predicting the outcome of the pathetic, worthless Bute/Grachev fight. Probably one of the worst fights I have watched in recent years–that most of us have watched in recent years–and you’re bragging. LMAO! You probably measure the size of your turds too.

Posted November 4, 2012 10:36 am

Kid Blast

Boxtradamus, you are probably the reason ESB has gone to this new and horffic format.

Posted November 4, 2012 10:27 am

I have to agree with -Love the Sport. Bute had no speed, no power, no combinations and no defence against a bum. If the Bute of the past don’t show up against Froch, there is no reason for the fight. There where glimpses of Butes former speed and precision, but this old looking Bute, I don’t know. I need to read some interviews and see the fight again. To be honest Bute looked out of shape, and his trainer is as confused as ever.

Posted November 4, 2012 9:15 am

Bute didn’t look good and he was also helped by a huge ring. It looked like it was 25 feet by 25 feet. Swimming pool. And he still could not get away from a slow, plodding Grachev.

Posted November 4, 2012 8:48 am

I saw the fight. Lucian Bute looks like he has lost some speed and some power. He has fought the mid-level guys and won including Saiko Bika, William Joppy, Brian Magee, Edison Miranda, and an aging Glen Johnson. Bute has typically won fighting backwards with good speed and power and a quick jab. Against Librado Andrade in the first fight — he got caught going backwards with his hands down. Against Carl Froch, again — he got caught both attempting to trade and also going backwards with his hands down. Denis Grachev was similar to Librado Andrade. Plodding awkward fighter who keeps coming forward. Bute looks slower, his jab does not have pop, and he doesn’t double up on his jab or other punches. He likes to fight going backward and his hands are down. When he was younger — this worked against mid-level opposition. Now that he is older — it is not working. I don’t think he can beat anybody at the elite level and he will struggle against mid-level guys. He has lost speed and power. And he has bad defense. Bad news for Bute.

Posted November 4, 2012 8:46 am

Bute finished the fight very strong, give him a break and he’s got 10 world titles defence, he’s no joke.

Posted November 4, 2012 7:57 am

“It looks like Bute has aged and lost something” – maybe he never had it in the first place! Bute is a genuinely nice guy however he has built a record fighting 2nd rate or/and older fighters and after watching this fight this morning on Sky I thought the fight was closer than the judges had it – especially the 118-110 joker. Should Froch win against Mack – I take nothing for granted in this sport – then I think Froch has every chance of finishing Bute’s career.

Lazy Lob On

Bute lost the fight in my opinion, not by much but by couple of rounds. I thought Grachev outworked him for large parts of rounds. on this performance Bute would get his ass handed to him again by Froch in more brutal fashion than the first fight. I never really rated Bute before but it looks likeFroch has completely ruined him.

Posted November 4, 2012 12:55 am

Boxra I tought u said bute would win by stoppage

Posted November 4, 2012 12:36 am

Decent second half by Bute and credit to him (entertainment-wise) for mixing it up in the last two when he didn’t need to. But, backing up on the ropes, at times wide open, slugging when it’s not necessary with a questionable chin: I’ll take Froch to win by TKO5, again.

No, it’s not. This was Bute’s time to say I’m ready for Froch. That was just a fluke, but he didn’t make that statement with his performance. Froch-Bute might be a hard fight to sell. But I’ll watch anyway, just to see how spectacular the KO will be. I’m a little bloodthirsty, I know.

He had Kessler in trouble very early. He normally runs out of gas in the mid to late rds. There was a time a few years back when he was avoided by the big guns. He got a few chances and blew everyone of them. He still has some solid power but looks like he cud go down with anything

Posted November 3, 2012 10:32 pm

even if you beat him, Green makes you work for the win. As I recall he even rocked Kessler before going out himself. Seems to be dangerous as long as he’s not knocked out himself.
