“He looked flat throughout the event and I’m almost sure that’s the reason why. But in April, he was masterful in winning the bout against Senchenko.”

Yes, Joseph, Paulie was masterful against Senchenko and with that fight alone, I developed a whole new level of respect for Paulie–not to mention that I’ve always thought he is a very fine boxer.

And you may be right. Paulie was disappointed, before the fight, that it wasn’t going to be for his title. And he repeated the same thing in his post fight interview–so he was being genuine. It makes sense to me that Paulie saw no need to lay it all on the line or to take unnecessary chances when his belt wasn’t even on the line.

Still, Paulie has to demonstrate some power as a welterweight or every single opponent he has from here on out is not going to give him any respect.

But you know what fight I’m expecting to be announced fairly soon? Malignaggi/Mayweather. Yup, I do. And I will pay to see that fight.

Oh clearly, Koolz…there was nothing decisive about either Cano’s or Malignaggi’s performances.

It was an entertaining but undecisive bout. You can make a case for either man winning, but there were no clear victor in that contest.

I’m not so sure, Hidalgo.

I agree that Robert Garcia has improved Maidana’s inside game as well as his defensive skills.

I think you’re greatly underestimating Malignaggi’s chances to win though.

Paulie is not depleted of speed and reflexes. If anything, he was depleted of motivation before his bout with Cano. Paulie admitted before the fight that it was more than little deflating when he found out that the fight was meaningless and wouldn’t be a title defense.

He looked flat throughout the event and I’m almost sure that’s the reason why. But in April, he was masterful in winning the bout against Senchenko.

I have a feeling we would see a similar version against a fighter at the level of Marcos Maidana.

I think it would be a great fight!!

Pain come tell us all about it in December, we can’t wait to hear it.

Lara will WIN. Vanes Defense is POOR.

Posted October 22, 2012 8:18 pm

Well, Joseph, if Maidana/Malignaggi does happen I’m going with Maidana 100%. Robert has done wonders, in a short period of time, with Maidana’s technical boxing skills. Paulie no longer has the speed or reflexes that he did several years ago when he was fighting at lighter weights. Besides that, Maidana just has incredible power. Paulie would survive with him only by keeping his distance in which case, he’d still lose. If he tries to punch it out with Marcos it will end sooner. Much sooner.

Boxtra, I know it’s a title eliminator, but it’s still a Golden Boy fighter on a Top Rank card.

If things go well for both fighters, this could be the catalyst for future events.

I doubt it, but you never know.

lol…by the way, who do you have on Nov 10th?

Posted October 22, 2012 6:37 pm

JMM is dead meat in December. He will keep trying though. Both Rios and Garcia will be human heavybags for Manny Pacquiao. Pac will make a speedball out of Mayweather’s skull.

Mad Scientist,Garcia is good, I didn’t know much about him before the Khan fight, but when you watch the Holt fight and the Morales fight,he was holding back against Morales, he is very good, and he will just get better, avoid the left hook from Garcia, easier said than done.

Danny Garcia is a good young fighter, if guided the right way the kid can grow to his full potential and possibly reign for years to come but it remains to be seen..for those who missed it we already seen Erik Morales knocked hard on his ass nearly flying through the ropes 6 years ago in his 3rd fight against Manny what did you expect from a much older Morales who is fighting 3 division away from his prime years..In case you missed this one to A mere Con has also been seen ktfo and on unsteady legs in recent fights taking L’s before stepping into the ring against Danny..just a few fact for some of you clowns who might be blinded with excitement seeing things that are not actualyy there.

Garcia can beat anyone with that left hook, not just the power, knows exactly how to land it.

Posted October 22, 2012 4:22 pm

Vanes vs. Lara is an eliminator for a shot at Canelo. Top Rank and Golden Boy aren’t facing each other unless its mandatory. Keep WISHING though!!!

Posted October 22, 2012 1:53 pm

…PEDquiao needs to get past Marquez first;Rios and Garcia are not full Welters and very unlikely to face Manny Armstrong!!

Posted October 22, 2012 1:26 pm

Of course Garcia won that one. He’s the young lion (no brainer). Pacquiao KO’d Morales ages ago and Morales was never the same. I’m curious to see how Pac will KO both Rios and Garcia. Round 8 for Rios, Round 10 for Garcia, maybe.

I really think Danny Garcia should lobby for a huge multi promotional effort to fight Brandon Rios.

I know it would pit a Golden Boy fighter against a Top Rank fighter, but we’re getting that on November 10th between Vanes and Lara.

I think it would really bring a lot of casual fans back to the sport if the power brokers of boxing began pairing their best against each other.

I think I’m going to write an article about that.

Thank you, comment board!!

keep in mind, Marcos maidana wants to campaign exclusively at 147 now.

I can see Malignaggi fighting Maidana if Malignaggi doesn’t get the Hatton fight.

I love the pairing of the two. The contrast in styles and both men would be up for a fight of this stature.

It’s a title fight. Malignaggi would feel a sense of something to prove after struggling with Cano and Maidana would love to place Paulie on his resume along with the WBA title.

I think it’s going to happen.

Chicago Guy, Maidana may be a whole different bird now that he has gone with Robert Garcia as his trainer. With the exception of a few lapses in his last fight, Maidana demonstrated some polished boxing skills against Soto Karass. I hope Robert can really shine him up–I’ve always had high regards for Maidana. As a matter of fact, I’d love to see a Maidana/Alexander rematch. Devon blew him out with a UD in their first go around, but I really believe Robert is going to help Maidana to greatly improve his technical boxing skills and ring I.Q.

Af for Garcia fighting Rios, well, all I can say is if Danny decides to brawl, he’s gonna lose–but not before he tears Brandon’s face to shreds. But Garcia does have the ability to effectively outbox Brandon. I’d like to see that fight but maybe a year from now.

A bout with Matthysse? I think Lucas would really reveal Garcia’s lack of experience and Lucas might even get the TKO. I think Danny needs at least another year before taking Matthysse as well.

Maidana/ Garcia? Sure, make it the next fight. I think Danny can beat him at this point in his career. It will be close and he won’t stop Maidana, but I think he can get a decision over him.

that puts garcia in a great position to put his hat in the bowl for a few lucritive good money matches and tons of respect so they are doing just fine with garcia, eventhough danny just merked a legend il give him a lot of credit cause morales wouldnt have been his first choice he honored the rematch factor in their contract and he looked pretty good in the process…..yezzir!!

Chicago guy

Not a big win for Garcia over aging Morales. Rios,Mathysee or Maidana is the real match.
