I’m in awe at how leaving a comment on this site always attracts idiotic disagreement. Mr Hidalg0 – I’ll take Smoger over just about any other active referee. When, on the show, Smoger stated that he had avoided the majority of the blows it was him painting with a fine brush the reality of being in the ring with top tier gladiators. Just grazing referee Jack Reiss with too much air will get a boxer penalized a point and that’s where the theatrics just begin. Reiss will stop time, do a Jerry Lewis dehydration stick and then, after he gets all the cameras on him, will cry to whoever will lend an ear about how the fighter(s) payday should be effected before warning all participants that nobody will get paid if he himself gets a boo-boo. Saying Smoger is not a father, brother etc etc is dumb. Smoger is the leader in the ring – leaders do in fact treat those who they are leading as their own flesh and blood if their goal is success. Smoger is a great ref and I’m tired of reading your stupid comments.

Luke: “I’ve always thought highly of SS, and he made for a great interview, but kissing Hopkins and manhandling his opponent (Murat??) was absolutely inexcusable!! Clearly, it was worthy of a suspension. Can you imagine if an NFL or NBA ref was guilty of similar behavior?? Suspension and fines galore!!Being manhandled by a ref is outright fatiguing and frustrating!!”

LOL…it goes on in every sport. it’s no different than the blatant favoritism that Ed Hochuli shows the Denver Broncos, or the fact that NBA official Joey Crawford verbally abuses every player in the league and gets away with it.

Smoger is a gent compared to most officials in every other sport

C’mon, Blast…what’s with the latest trend of “Smoger bashing”?

Kid Blast

Smoger is a publicity hound

Also stopped the Lebedev v Roy’s Jones too early
And also jumped in too quick on Cotto v Margaretto II
Margaretto was slowly edging back, yes beat up but on the rise
Cotto was fading . . . .

This is how Margaretto fights . . . Like a f*cking terminator
Gift decision for Cotto because of the first fight

Smoger is the ref with the brown birds nest on his head. . . . Yeah ?

“Porter is way to green for Mayweather.”

He has a much better chance against Floyd than flake-brained Ortiz did.

Wow Joe- This show just keeps getting better and better. One day I’ll be comparing something really fantastic to being almost as great as the Pugilist KOrner radio Talk Show. You cut your own path through the Speed Bag Jungle.

Steve Smoger is the greatest Referee and equally a wound up great guest….. Just give the man a microphone and an hour block of time! Quillin far exceeded expectations and Porter’s revelations never seem to fall short of surprising. The George segment was straight up honesty at it’s best nakedness – hey Joe, the format and evolution of the show is astounding but we need a few more sprinkles of those spot on impressions brother… No show is totally complete without you gracing us with a Herron version of Floyd talking about legacy and Bob Arum talking about his itches in his britches. Great deliveries, great shows, your guests are top notch – it just keeps gettin’ better and better and better my friend. God Bless.

Don’t worry if Floyd signed to fight Porter then folks would say he cherry picked him too. Same thing that happened with Canelo and Maidana

Porter is way to green for Mayweather. He is very skilled and powerful young talent though. Paulie may not hit hard but his chin has been solid. For Porter to do that to Paulie proves he’s got power and potential.

yet. he’s the best match out there for floyd at 147.

Posted April 23, 2014 6:42 pm

Didn’t see anything in Porters fight that suggests he would smash Floyd. He’s a good fighter and talks well so would make a good opponent down the line but defo not yet

Fight Aficionado

Porter’s looking good but he’s not smashing the top flight dudes yet. Give him another year against top flight comp and he’ll be ready, presuming he continues winning.

Always gonna be haters. The same Porter that struggled with Diaz 3 fights ago is gonna smash Floyd. lol. Get your knowledge up

Posted April 23, 2014 3:11 pm

Duckweather will never fight Porter, he’d get smashed to bits and Fraud knows it.

Posted April 23, 2014 2:19 pm

get over it

Porter should fight the winner of Kahn vs. Collazo next then move on to Floyd or Danny Garcia…

Khan’s Cuz Achmed

Paulie should have been looking down over his right shoulder instead of at his opponent. Lost either way, might as well let his eyes feast on that Corona top.
