One word to anyone who fights Kovalev, go to the body hard and he will crumble. Just make sure you don’t have a ref that calls all your legal body shots low blows. Not saying he isn’t good but let him fight adonis, he will not win that one. It’s a step up in class.

Stevenson does have some valid points…Kovalev doesn’t have the best defence and isn’t the quickest……he also lunges 4ward with reckless abandon. A good boxer will beat him. Kovalev is still good 2 watch but history will tell u it never ends well 4 the punchers. A good boxer who’s not scared of him will smack him.

Good luck seeing that Al Haymon has once again screwed the world from another superfight. That man should not be allow to “advise” fighters. Furthermore, Stevenson shouldn’t be calling anyone anyone “bum” when you run to another network before a career-defining fight for quick cash. Last I checked, the “slow guy with no defense” never lost, let alone got KOed by a journeyman.

So a Karo Murat offered more money than a fight against Kovalev would generate ?? :-D

Adonis Stevenson mabey have an advantage over Bernard Hopkins but Sergey Kovalev may have a good chanse against Stevenson and Hopkins have a chanse against Kovalev (!).

Sergey The Supreme

Sergey ‘The Krusher’ Kovalev, the WBO World Champion, is surely the future of the Light Heavyweight Division, my friends. With an undefeated record of 24-0-1 and frightening KO power, Sergey is undoubtedly one of the most exciting boxers alive today. In quick succession, he has Destroyed and Obliterated World Class opposition of the calibre of Nathan Cleverly, Ismail Sillakh and Cedric Agnew in highly impressive fashion. None of these well-trained World Class boxers took him past seven rounds. Sergey is a Fighting Active Champion and is truly a great new addition to the global boxing scene. Kova is now one of HBO’S brightest and biggest Superstars who has quickly emerged from the Highly Competitive European ranks to swift Worldwide Recognition..Sergey fears No Man, No Boxer at 175lbs. He is willing to take on all-comers with No exceptions. Who can stand against him? Bernard Hopkins at nearly 50 years of age and with numerous defeats behind him to lesser opponents than the fearsome Krusher? Adonis Stevenson at 36 and who has switched to HBO’S rival network Showtime suddenly, seemingly to duck Sergey? Highly unlikely as they seem to be doing their best to avoid him…My people, in the ring Kova is a Beast. A Beast From The East, no less. Sergey is Rapidly becoming The Man at Light Heavyweight. Sergey Kovalev, the Unbeaten WBO Light Heavyweight Champion of the World, is, quite simply, on the road to being known as The Best.

And wasn’t Kovalev the mandatory for Hopkins belt at one point in time, oh yeah he was.

Posted March 31, 2014 12:52 pm

Not sure how you call it ducking when HBO doesn’t want to deal with Golden Boy whom Hopkins is and has been apart of and Stevenson taking a bigger pay day with Showtime. You would think Kovalev would follow and go to showtime also and get that money plus fight the folks that are so called ducking.

Bernard* and Adonis* are ducking Sergey!

Ayatollah Khan

Stevenson is an easier fight for Nard than Dawson was, styles make fights. I can see the alien (aka Nard) taking Stevenson the former pimp current coward to school. Nard’s ring IQ will allow him to nullify Stevenson’s obvious one-handedness. The alien can clean up even at 50.

Nobody is ducking him. Gotta offer some money to make these fights.

Kovalev-Agnew wasn’t a great action fight because it was mostly one-way traffic and it was pretty clear Sergey would prevail..but Agnew hung in longer than all of Kova’s recent opponents, so that makes it seem a better effort. Kovalev has all the other big names at 175 trying to avoid him, so he got to fight these guys. He can’t let Hopkins and Stevenson hold up his career…

I don’t worship Hopkins at all. I am amazed at what he does. I want to see that fight also. But what does that tell you that you have a 50 year old man competing with these young fighters? Yeah he holds and fights dirty. But yet none of these young fighters can do anything about it. So that is amazing in itself.

Posted March 31, 2014 10:55 am

Peej i know you worship B-hop but against Kova and Stevesons he may win both fighters by UD12,. But who wants to see that that. Another B-hop special hugging match. Another boring Hopkins fight. People want to see Adonis vs Kovalev they want to see action . Not sleeper fights

Nice effort from Agnew? So standing there taking punches and barely throwing back is now considered a nice effort. hmmmmmm

Kovalev: ā€œIā€™m not a player, I just CRUSH alot!ā€

RIP to an ATG

A nice effort from Agnew. He made Kovalev work. Kovalev was still throwing hard shots seven rounds in. This was a good action fight.

Mick the Marmalizer

Question: so who’s actually #1 @ 175Lb right now?
Answer: No one actually knows & no one will until unification takes place. It’s gotta start happening this year! Stephenson & Bhop are no spring lambs, so lets see action & quick!

Agnew went ok….I think Kovalev could have been in there with some1 tougher than Agnew….Kovalev has brutal power but he def has holes in his game wich need 2 b fixed.

Posted March 31, 2014 3:21 am

Kovalev didnt just look amateur but showed he needs a lot of improvement to an elite fighter, power alone dont win fights. An elite fighter or a good technical fighter will prove that soon.

Posted March 31, 2014 1:14 am

Kovalev’s English is getting better. Stevenson is a piece of fecal matter no doubt about it. Stevenson went to Showtime because HBO wanted him to fight Kovalev………………..

Posted March 31, 2014 12:12 am

that dulorme/mayfair match was garbage. should not be a rematch.

Posted March 30, 2014 11:04 pm

Stevenson can make more with Hopkins. that probably will not happen, since hopkin will milk his paper title for as long as he can.

Posted March 30, 2014 10:32 pm

Agnew did better than I thought he would. With more experience who knows.

Harry, Jay made a valid point. Didn’t Hopkins a few weeks ago ask Mayweather to fight him ? Really were does Hopkins fit in this besides collect another paycheck. Hopkins is good at beating lighter weight fighter’s but not fighters like Steveson or Kovalev.

Informer the toughest thing Kovalev will have with Hopkins is
Hopkin’s dirty tactics

Posted March 30, 2014 8:06 pm

Glad Kovalev does not speak English very well or else, he would not have said the obvious. Hopefully this does pull Stevenson to fight him. I still don’t see Stevenson being able to beat Kovalev. Stevenson does have the power to KO Kovalev, but he does not have the defense or toughness to withstand Kovalev’s firepower. I see the toughest fight for Kovalev coming from old man Hopkins, mainly because BHop will make it ugly and will land some clean shots but cannot match the work rate of Kovalev.

Posted March 30, 2014 6:43 pm

Much respect for Agnew. He did not just show up for a paycheck.

“What right does Hopkins have to fight Stevenson or Kova ?”

Congratulations Jay! You have just won the prize for the most stupid question ever asked on an ESB forum (and trust me, that takes some truly special kind of cretinousness)!

Hopkins beats Murat who is a fighter with sublime boxing skills. Slightly above a bum. What right does Hopkins have to fight Stevenson or Kova ?
