On his worst night out, Povetkin would beat Chisora. A real pro vs. someone who never really took the time to learn the pro game.

Posted February 19, 2014 6:23 pm

its chisora, don’t dis other country your country has the worse refs in the world. they let the home fighter get away with murder.

Posted February 19, 2014 5:15 pm

it’s Dereck Chisora

Not that I care about Chisora, feed him to the lions. Povetkin might even KO him.

Posted February 19, 2014 4:57 pm

it’s Dereck Chisora

If Chisora fights in any of these countries: Finland, Russia…if he doesn’t get a KO, the outcome will be the same: he will lose on cards. Besides Povetkin fights under Sauerland just like Helenius. They’re all criminals in that camp.

Obviously they’re offering him a lot of money for this fight and he will take it.

the hw circus moves from london to moscow.

Posted February 19, 2014 3:45 pm

it’s Dereck Chisora

Delboy will lose on cards.

Posted February 19, 2014 2:56 pm

Chisora does stay busy and takes hard fights. I don’t like him. I don’t like the rabbit punching and his actions outside the ring, but he will fight anyone, anywhere. You have to give him credit. There may be better heavies out there, but who are they fighting?
Meanwhile, I see on BBC news that Vitali Klitschko is making a stand in a square in Kiev and has ordered women away from the site in anticipation of further violence. He could sit home and count his millions, but he is in harm’s way for his principles. I don’t pretend to know the politics of Ukraine, but I have to admire the man.

lol. if you have no interest in a Povetkin-Chisora matchup you’re not a boxing fan.

if these heavyweights fights get any worse. i can see david haye coming back.

Povetkin by easy decison, maybe late stoppage. Chisora in way over his head.

Posted February 18, 2014 11:07 pm

a jerk outside the ring…,

Posted February 18, 2014 11:06 pm

Cheez, true not saying he’s the best but he’s fighting people. He’s a jerk inside the ring and sometimes inside too.

Posted February 18, 2014 11:05 pm

@Tony1244 – “Chisora is the only one not ducking anyone.”

That’s true, but at the same time he has no choice. He needs to erase his losses from people’s minds and the only way to do that is to show that he can beat guys at the top level.

Posted February 18, 2014 9:03 pm

I don’t like Chisora, but he’s the only one keeping the HW division interesting. Look at all his fights over the last several years, almost every one is very high profile. Now he’s taking on Povetkin prior to Fury? Crazy.

Posted February 18, 2014 7:24 pm

True, Fury did fan-out of fighting Pulev. Chisora is the only one not ducking anyone.

Posted February 18, 2014 6:43 pm

I believe Povetkin outboxes Chisora… but not anything like Haye did.

Posted February 18, 2014 6:22 pm

Tyson Fury needs to train hard and get fit, and step up his game too.

Posted February 18, 2014 6:17 pm

Oleg S

@dg Yes, I think Huck maybe deserved the decsion against Povetkin too, but Marco Huck is strong man who might beat a lot of heavy’s, including Chisora. Alexander Povetkin beat Chagaev, whom Haye didn’t want to meet. That is a good win.

Posted February 18, 2014 6:16 pm

tyson fury also caught a cold when he was suppose to fight pulev. he also great for punking out.

Posted February 18, 2014 5:26 pm

Big Daddy Browne is not a bum.

Fury called him out, then went silent when Big Daddy spoke up.

David Price relinquished his UK belt– refusing to defend it against Big Daddy.

What Browne is is plodding, 15 lbs overweight, and criminal in his neglect of body punching. He has little head movement, and thinks too much.

He is a journeyman, not a bum.

If he got more serious about conditioning, defense, and going to the body, he would be at Chisora level.

Rustybucket, some say Adamek should’ve lost to Cunningham anyhow so there’s a case for that. IMO that was a close one that could’ve gone either way. So if it’s indeed Chisora-Povetkin and Fury-Adamek in tuneups before their showtime those aren’t actually tuneups, they’re decent fights with risk.

Posted February 18, 2014 4:13 pm

next up will probably be another bum for dyson. someone like browne fits the bill.

Posted February 18, 2014 3:58 pm

Adamek is too small and has no punch, he’s also too battle worn now.
This would be a very easy fight for Fury.

Easier than the one against Cunningham.

Posted February 18, 2014 3:48 pm

Adamek wouldn’t get near Fury. He’d catch a cold again.

“The fight against Fury is set for the summer, Frank said they would both have another fight in the spring, got to give Del Boy the dues here as this is a dangerous fight to take, I don’t think Fury will be taking such a dangerous opponent” – Thanks Elbilly. If true he indeed gets props. I’d think him an underdog here. Fury’s talking Adamek so it’s possible both will be in dangerous bouts.

Posted February 18, 2014 3:01 pm

Huck won the fight against Povetking. Povetking never won against a strong opponent. In the fight with Huck he showed himself not as a bad boxer, but a chicken. Chisora will put pressure from round one and Povetking will crack. I would prefer if he would fight Haye. That would be end of Povetking, but he will never do that. Chisora doesn’t have KO punch, i guess that was a reason they choose him.

what happened to fury vs chisora. Povetkin will beat chisora.

Posted February 18, 2014 1:01 pm

Povetkin is tough but he isn’t that good. Chisora may beat him as easily as he beat Helenius. He will likely get robbed again.

Posted February 18, 2014 12:14 pm

I hope Povetkin knocks “Del Boy” into next week. I hope he hits him so hard that when Chisora wakes up his clothes will be out of style.

If Povetkin has owt left he should be able to deal with Chisora pretty easily. Funnily enough Chisora looked better in defeat against the likes of Helinius, Vitali and Haye than he has looked fighting far worse competition since. Some have mentioned Wilder fighting Malik Scott but people are quick to forget that Scott was looking good for a point victory over Chisora before he was stopped very premeturely.

Haye won WBA title from Valuev. Wladimir Klitschko beat Haye.Haye was in a track meet all night or on the canvas all night.. Povetkin then won vacant WBA title against Chagaev. Wladimir Klitschko has beaten Povetkin, Chagaev AND Haye. Wladimir is THE heavyweight champion of the world. As for Povetkin against Chisora, Alexander beats his ass. People say Huck caused Povetkin problems. True, he did, but Huck would cause Chisora problems too and maybe beat him. Huck is a strong man.

@ – Correction, Alexander Povetkin is NOT a 2 time world champion at all. He is not even a real ex recognised world champion, just a “regular” champion by WBA. Povetkin never won the real WBA world title from David Haye or his conqerer Wladimir Klitschko, the real and undisputed world heavyweight champion. (Lineal, WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO).

Alexander Povetkin is yet to prove his right to be called a recognised world heavyweight title holder. Beside if Povetkin ever was a champion, he lost that little right to Wladimir last year anyway.

….or Fury-Pulev?

Posted February 18, 2014 8:43 am

If Chisora isn’t fighting Fury, then surely a Fury-Wilder fight needs to be made?

Posted February 18, 2014 8:42 am

Yep, he did do all that. And then he got knock the hell out by David Haye, which was the best thing that could ever have happened to him.

Since then he’s really turned things around. Amazing what a bit of humility can achieve.

people say kudos to del boy for taking the fight. in his head, he is the baddest man alive. he slapped vitali then spat water in his wlad’s face and threaten to shoot david haye.
chisora not scared of anyone. he’s deranged in an entertaining way. then again so is fury.

this is the first fight in a while that i’m really glad has been made.

Posted February 18, 2014 6:58 am

AssyrianGod.., “Wilder just WILL NOT fight anyone ranked”

That’s funny… Why the Hell did Wilder call out Fury, Chisora, and Jennings then? Scott is a huge step up. I don’t think you go back to fighting cans if you beat Scott more convincingly than Chisora did.

What GB Promotions needs to do is put some money up for a Top-10 opponent.. You can go stale fighting cans for this long.. It will definitely hurt you—but they might be hearing that message now.

Great match up if it happens. And kudos to Chisora for taking it on.
With it being in Russia, the odds are against him, but if he wins, what a great result that will be.

Chisora wins the fight. Povetkin is cardboard boxer. Slow, stupid, and bad stamina. He is offensive fighter, but it will not work with chisora. Chisora doesn’t have a good punch, but he will dominate in late rounds. Only problem with judging in Moscow.

fury vs helenius would be bad a$$ but i think fury will continue his near decade long trend of fighting cab drivers and pizza delivery guys. abell had fury hurt luckily the ref held him and gave him all the time in the world round one. i have to watch the head butt replay again but tyson is a least a head length taller than abel. abel should not have much success at head butting fury and it didnt seem very intentional at the time so im gonna have to watch it again see if some squirrely people were making more out of it then what it was

Posted February 18, 2014 1:55 am

Povetkin by knockout!!!

Posted February 18, 2014 1:42 am

The ghost

Tyson fury will have to look for another credible opponent for his summer bout since chisora will be fighting povetkin. Fury vs. Big daddy would be a descent fight or fury against price.

Yet another example of heavyweight contenders facing each other with ONE notable exception – Anyone else notice that many top 30 heavyweights have chosen to face each other EXCEPT WILDER?

Posted February 18, 2014 1:08 am

If you don’t have the capacity to grab it in the first try, you’re a second best player at best…f’k off.

I echo the sentiments of most of the posters here. This is a damn good fight in the heavyweight division. I think Povetkin has what it takes to KO Chisora around round 8.

Posted February 17, 2014 11:47 pm

Great match up.
Better than Chisora vs Fury 2.
Tyson Fury fighting Australia Lucas Browne be an interesting fight.

Posted February 17, 2014 10:51 pm

Why do we care about Chisora? Has he won any match that mattered?

Posted February 17, 2014 10:03 pm

Much rather see this than a furry rerun. Alpo will win easily.

Posted February 17, 2014 9:37 pm

This fight will demonstrate the illusion that Saturday’s victory by Chisora was designed to present. Povetkin is an actual top 5 fighter who will dismantle Chisora in easy fashion. Against the non-fighting Kevin Johnson, Chisora was not tested — again, that was the reason Johnson was awarded the fight. Chisora always had some raw ability and power but he still has never learned to adapt, use head movement and mix his punches against skill pros. That’s why a real pro such as Haye crushed him. It’s too bad that home-cooking type fights are used to propel him into big-time contests for which he is ill-prepared.

Posted February 17, 2014 9:33 pm

Chisora gets out pointed easily. Fury will be at the buffet. A fat Arreola who gets made fun a lot as would crush Fury. USS was an old light hitting cruiser that had him down and hurt. His career is over without even getting an embarrassing ko payday loss to Wlad. Man….the division is terrible.

what happened to the fury rematch?

Posted February 17, 2014 7:24 pm

Bo Bo Olson

I was so surprised that Huck not only lasted but could/should have won. I expected a lot more from Povetkin vs Wlad. Del-boy is in the wrong ring, Povetkin can box.
Povetkin’s time with his American trainer was a real waste of time and talent. He didn’t learn a dammed thing. His high full fight pressure and high punch rate is gone.

I see this as just a bargaining chip vs Fury… there Del Boy has a chance to win. Especially now Fury is a fat puffer…fat being the last thing burnt off, like Duran, it costs power. Leaner, meaner, faster on his feet, not gassing will make a huge difference in the rematch.

Posted February 17, 2014 7:23 pm

Good news. This is a fight

Posted February 17, 2014 7:19 pm

Hope Povetkin wins (and he should). Boxing doesn’t need a bore such as Chisora on the top rung.

good matchup hope it comes off

Posted February 17, 2014 6:59 pm

In a perfect world, Deontay Wilder would have had his title eliminator vs Fury, Big Daddy Browne, Tony Thompson, or Bryant Jennings.

Golden Boy obviously selected feather fisted Malik as Deontay’s stepping stone.

The level of corruption behind the rise of Deontay is stunning in its open-ness.

If Chisora fought wilder’s opposition, he would be 30 and 0 too.

Chisora beats Scott, knocks him out, then watches Scott instantly rewarded with a title eliminator!

All while Chisora isn’t even discussed for mandatory title eliminators.

All this does is encourage fighters to pad their records and avoid tough fights

Big Daddy Browne should fight Audley, Liakhovich, and Firtha.

Maybe then he will get a mandatory too…

Posted February 17, 2014 6:36 pm

The voice of reason, yes Huck is a champion but isn’t a heavyweight and doesn’t have a hw punch. Also Povetkin’s confidence might be ripped to shreds with the mauling/humiliation Klitschkomgave him.

Posted February 17, 2014 6:25 pm

I don’t believe this has been announced and the plan remains Chisora vs Fury until the promoters confirm otherwise. Even though Povetkin’s not much he’d likely beat Chisora which would derail a big payday in England.

Posted February 17, 2014 6:12 pm

Any matchup between these 4 would be awesome” Browne, Wilder, Arreola, Fury. I think Arreola will beat Stiverne in the rematch.

Interesting match-up! I would love to see Dereck Chisora vs. Alexander Povetkin, that could be a tuff slugg fest bout as both men prefers to go forward and fight.

Chisora have won 5 fights in a row with 4 of them by TKO against good opponents and conqerd the European heavyweight crown and the International heavyweight title. Its great that Chisora is ring active as he is becouse that keeps him in better fight condition and focused on opponents and a good thing he fights credible opponents as well instead of low picks who dont offer much of a challange.

The only fight I would like to see more would be Dereck Chisora vs. 1# Wladimir Klitschko, 2# Tyson Fury II, 3# Alexander Povetkin and 4# Robert Helenius II,

Posted February 17, 2014 5:54 pm

Deloy will fight anyone, and anywhere, the problem is that he may not get a square deal in Moscow. Better to have the fight on neutral ground and then Delboy will win for sure

Posted February 17, 2014 5:46 pm

Good matchup. I could see a draw. Let Fury fight Browne and Wilder. Enough rematches.

Posted February 17, 2014 5:35 pm

Obviously Povetkin should be the strong favourite, but I hope Chisora pulls it off! Come on Del boy, rough him up! (highly unlikely:/ )

Posted February 17, 2014 5:28 pm

Great fight! I hope it happens. Think that Povetkin is the better boxer but will not be surprised if Chisora wins by way of rabbit punching all night long.

Posted February 17, 2014 5:26 pm

Posted February 17, 2014 5:21 pm

the voice of reason

Huck is a world champion too man – Povetkin is a VERY under-rated fighter, and showed amazing strength and endurance in putting up with wlad leaning on his back for 12 rounds (try it sometime) – povetkin will be too good for chisora, especially if he comes out firing like he did against cedric boswell. Check it out on you tube, he looked awesome in that fight. I like chisora though and he will give it 100% so this is gonna be a great fight

Posted February 17, 2014 5:20 pm

Del Boy should win, barring very dodgy refereeing. Remember the trouble Huck had Povetkin in …..

Posted February 17, 2014 5:15 pm

Wow, good fight. Fair play to Dereck Chisora. I’ve often disliked his conduct, but he’ll take on anyone in the ring. If Alexander has anything left in the way of ambition after that ugly mauling by Klitschko, he’ll beat Chisora fair and square.
