Well , this definitely proves , that there WAS severe , permanent , brain damage after the Vitaly beat down , after all !Posted February 15, 2014 12:14 pm
I agree with Swedish Boxing Fan.Posted February 14, 2014 5:39 pm
K.C., Slater says Briggs shaved his head. Won’t make a difference. He’s evidently bored without boxing. It’s a dangerous game, not a hobby to stave off middle aged boredom.Posted February 14, 2014 1:30 pm
Shannon “Brain Damage” Briggs. He is going to be a Veggie soon. Gets hit way too much, and can take a good punch. Not a good mix for his age.’Posted February 14, 2014 6:31 am
Swedish Boxing Fan
Listen here Shannon Briggs, you are a former 2-time world heavyweight title holder and have been a force in the heavyweight division for many years back in the late 90’s to 2007 and have had a great ride with many top fights on your record. You should be proud of what you have achived in your boxing career and look back at all good fights.
But Now at 42 of age and been away from the ring over 3 years and your last fight back in 2010 against WBC champ Vitali Klitschko was a brutal disaster of performance and only somehow taking a heavy beating for 12 full rounds was in itself an achievement but an stupid one as well. You was close to have sufferd dangerous-permanent injuries after those 12 rounds where done and you where forced to spend a long time at a hospital in Germany becouse of the hard hits you took to many of.
You maybe can win some fights at a club level or easy journeyman level bouts but your days as a top fighter are long over now. You lacked all needed speed, technique and stamina to last in a top heavyweight fight then and it will not end well now if you fought hard prime hard hitters like Wladimir Klitschko, Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury or Dereck Chisora.
Fight 48 year old former world heavyweight champion Oliver McCall if you want to fight a fighter near your era that is credible but that is the best fight you can get now to look competent fighting in.Posted February 13, 2014 10:25 pm
Shannon needs to cut his ridiculous hair and commit to the ring. The last thing a fighter needs is to be distracted especially with such a simple thing as hair.Posted February 13, 2014 7:49 pm
glad your back Shannon! your already in top 10!Posted February 13, 2014 5:00 pm
when did david toe haye dye his hair.Posted February 13, 2014 4:47 pm

how about an over 40 age group within the weight class………Posted February 13, 2014 3:33 pm
Man he still got his nice hair, taught he was a old balding man by now. Or has steroid problems.
Shannon might last a round. Yea!Posted February 13, 2014 3:20 pm
KM dangerous …yes a danger to himself.SB is getting there..going this same way.Posted February 13, 2014 3:12 pm
Superb financial position would be much better.Who stole your money or where is it???Posted February 13, 2014 3:08 pm
briggs took a bad beating from vitally. what is he trying to prove? what happened to his acting career?Posted February 13, 2014 1:59 pm
You really have to laugh at heavyweight boxing. Just when you thought its impossible to get worse shannon briggs makes a comeback. It’s a comedy show!!!!Posted February 13, 2014 12:45 pm
Khan’s Cuz Achmed
Briggs may be getting up in years but never shows up in bad shape. He may get another loss but is truly one of the good guys in the sport and I respect his efforts to make one last run.Posted February 13, 2014 12:05 pm
I agree. B-hop is noted for dragging up the smaller fighters to fight him. He wants Mayweather. Are you kidding ????Posted February 13, 2014 10:08 am
Hopkins is a fraud thru and thru. This guy has faked so many injurys. He should of been a B rated actor. His Grab and hold style stinks up boxing. He does the least in the ring that why he has fought this long. He’s boring.Posted February 13, 2014 10:06 am
Hopkins has been dedicated and consistent for an entire career – Briggs and many of these other 40 plus heavyweights cannot claim such beyond say a 1 to 2 fight time frame – Only Slater takes these guys seriouslyPosted February 13, 2014 10:02 am
Is, and always has been a steroid taker. F’ing cheater.Posted February 13, 2014 9:41 am
In his last big fight, Briggs was in the hospital after a dreadful beating.
To quote ‘boxing and its fans have to be persuaded over time that a former champ climbing back through the ropes has any kind of genuine shot at enjoying any real success’.
Uhhh – No, I don’t think so. What about;
A. George Foreman
Need I go on?Posted February 13, 2014 8:51 am
Can’t see Briggs going to far at this stage… he was already looking somewhat over the hill when he scored his lucky, last-minute win over Liakhovich (followed by being manhandled by a man half his size in Ibragimo).
About the only contender you’ll see him beat these days are the chinny, exposed types like David Price, and even then I wouldn’t put money on him.Posted February 13, 2014 8:33 am
Who cares! Briggs is done and he’s only fighting to pay his bills. He’s fooling no one and he is never going to be a force to reckon with in the HW division. Just close the chapter on this clown already and I thought Vitali did that what a shame, he must be totally brain dead and completely delusional.Posted February 13, 2014 8:20 am
Slater is making a career of reporting on has beens and those that never will bePosted February 13, 2014 7:48 am
shannon in the mix. he don’t respect his mind or his mind don’t respect the crop of USA HW’S. His mind must be shot after the Vitali beat down. Shannon’s last KO run.Posted February 13, 2014 4:49 am
briggs is and always has been a waste of potential.back when he fought Foreman and Lewis he was a very fast, hardhitting heavyweight, with good skills and and a great chin, but after that he seemed to have taken boxing lightly and got super heavy, relying on his power at the expense of his speed and skills, seemingly obsessed with how big and muscular he looked. If he really has got into tip top shape, and by that I mean fight for 12 rounds shape, not just leaner, and he’s serious,he still has probably enough left to beat most of the heavies out there, asides from Wlad,Stiverne and maybe Pulev.I’m classing haye as retired. But this is merely a reflection on how poor the HW division is right now.Posted February 13, 2014 4:33 am
Briggs is done. Period!Posted February 13, 2014 1:09 am
rod- he might beat all thise guys. leapi has a punchers chance pianetta took some shots but the big difference is briggs is not gonna fill a euro stadium and make multi millions to do it where as wlad is. wlad fighting those guys is in the same level as floyd fighting the washed up fighters he has and the kahns, ortizs, guerreros, and baldomirs. now the difference between floyd and wlad. floyd has a ton of better guys to fight that will fight him. wlad nobody is willin to step up. upper contenders refuse to fight even other upper contenders let alone wlad. it took povetkin forever to fight wlad and he still did not face many upper contenders. then you look at guys like fury and wilder and its laughable. fury actually talks smack about the klitschkos, claims he will beat them, then only meets cab drivers and pizza delivery guys in the ring. fury has gotten pathetic he was fighting heavy before haye even debuted a heavy and still has fought noone. price has faced better comp than fury and thats sad. the problem is not wlad klitschko in the least. u need to stop implying itPosted February 12, 2014 11:31 pm
Briggs again oh no………wait a minute. He would beat the crap out of leapai, mormeck and pianetta. He can only fight for 2 rounds but would only need 2 rounds. The division is a joke. We have a champ who only wants to box at a fully extended arms length because he is scared of being punched and if you get past the jab you will get hugged to death. Joke!!!Posted February 12, 2014 11:18 pm
Jonn E. JaGozza
He may look good and sound good but the fact is that he’s still in his early 40.s and also int he Klitsko fight he seemed to be gassed and tuckered out in the later rounds and how many years back was that fight? He’s big, powerful but also pretty old to still be in the fight game. Shannon, pick your fight wisely, clean up the division by taking out the bums and wannabees and by doing that you’ll make some good money but sadly, you’ll never be champ, Sorry, but that’s the real honest truth of the matter… PEACE … Theboxingdictionary.com… The Language of the Ring “Posted February 12, 2014 10:21 pm
briggs fresh off a solid peds cycle is now ready!!!!
boxing should make a ped division maybe? any peds ok ?Posted February 12, 2014 10:18 pm

get the INHALERS ready!!!Posted February 12, 2014 9:28 pm
Nothing good can come out of this.Posted February 12, 2014 7:05 pm
“Why not?” Well, from my understanding, Briggs spent quite a bit of time in the hospital following that bout. Enough so that Shannon might well have not been capable of fighting professionally again. Add that to the fact that Shannon is forty-two, and his fighting again wasn’t something which I expected.Posted February 12, 2014 6:59 pm
Shot, old and used-up…so Shannon must be in the running for a call from Deontay Wilder!!Posted February 12, 2014 6:52 pm
he looks terrible. look how much muscle he lost. you can see he went on serious diet to lose weightPosted February 12, 2014 6:36 pm
He should stay retired. The way he got demolished by Vitali was not something I enjoyed seeing. He was in the hospital for a week after that. Retire and enjoy your money dude.Posted February 12, 2014 6:34 pm
Briggs is gonna get KO.Posted February 12, 2014 6:27 pm
I see an over seas fight in his near future against some white guy no one has heard of.Posted February 12, 2014 5:57 pm
Shannon that is.Posted February 12, 2014 5:43 pm
Good luck Sherman in your come back.Posted February 12, 2014 5:41 pm
Why not? He was a decent fighter at one stage and with the current crop of fighters now the old Shannon would must probably clean up ( excluding waldamir of course) so maybe this well rested Shannon May do well or at least be entertaining as he is a big puncherPosted February 12, 2014 5:33 pm
After the beating Briggs took from Vitali, I’m amazed that he’ll be fighting again. Best of luck, Shannon.Posted February 12, 2014 5:17 pm
