You do know its 1 on 1 in that ring….so that population excuse is B.S

Posted February 2, 2014 4:21 pm

Bias esb.

Mexico population = 120 millions
Mexico American population = 40 millions

Puerto Rico population = 4 millions
puertoricans pop in USA = 3 millions

if you do your math that equate to Mexicans needing over 22 champs for every single champ from PR, just to pull even!

Arum for one against Pac, Garcia already stated he is not wanting to fight Floyd or is not wanting to at this moment and Lara. Come on now, still not sold on Lara, after fights with Vanes, Molina and Angulo. Please. He deserves no shot at Floyd. The only fighters that truly deserve that shot are Tim Bradley and Danny Garcia but like I said Garcia is not looking his way at the moment and Bradley is with Arum

,,,”The Problem for Mayweather is that there are no opponents for him left.”

None but Erislandy Lara… Danny Garcia… and Manny Pacquiao…

There’re all 3 better than any prime boxer Floyd has ever faced… So what’s the massive, impossible problems of setting up matches with them???

Posted February 1, 2014 11:24 pm

Why the racial hate? Look guys Mexico AND Puerto Rico are like boxing factories!! Some of the greatest fighters who ever lived have come from these two respective countries. Its great to have that kind of nationalistic rivalry and to take pride in our countrymen but lets not let us get to a point where it becomes hateful and we cant acknowledge one another. Just like we fans despise unsportsman like conduct, especially in boxing, and we admire that hug and show of respect between gladiators after a fight we fans should follow suit. Pre fight and during fight lets keep giving each other hell but post fight shake hands and give that nod of respect win or loose.

Let me clarify my statement, Oriz fought the way Vargas did. By no means was it meant more than that. Vargas had a ton more heart and guts than Ortiz. Them thinking they were destroyers was my comparison. Vargas had bad people believe he was a KO artist which he wasn’t. I agree when Vargas got on his toes and popped a jab he was a beast boxing and the KO came later. He never had One Punch KO power. Ortiz thought too much of the Berto fight and believed that was the kind of fighter he was. Only things they had in common were the fought the wrong styles and had poor management.

“Rosado KO’d Mexican Soto Karass” at 140lbs, which begs the question, WTF was Rosado doing bullying 140lbrs? Btw, the “broken” and 154lb Angulo KTFO of Rosado in two rounds. Angulo also put your precious Lara on his ass twice during their bout. only the hematoma that blew up on Angulo’s eye salvaged that win for Lara. Btw, you might as well replace “Gabriel faced” and “Gabriel had the balls to” with Rosado LOST to Charlo, Golovkin, Quillin, and Love AFter losing to the likes of Ennis(?), Guerrero(?), Onyango(?!?), and Chris Gray(?!?). meanwhile, Jotto is hiding under the same blanket with his chubby buddy rather than step-up to Canelo’s $10 million challenge, which is more than he’s receiving to face Martinez . . . “Cannn-Tahhh y no Llores”.

check out Public DOUCHE compounding his profile of severe IMBECILITY by trying to drum-up interest for a Mayweather v. Collazo bout (LoL). why? because he defeated a feeble-minded Ortiz? Pfffft?!? all Collazo did was maintain his status as a B-level fighter. otherwise, being the new face of Rican boxing only qualifies him for Rios, Mathysse, Alvarado, Guerrero, or Soto-Karass . . . on another weekday fight-card.

I figured Ortiz would wilt if things got tough. But I figured it would last longer than two rounds. Victor once again could have continued, but he wanted no part of that… That was a good win for Collazo, good for him.

I don’t know why all the ppl are making a big deal about Collazo. Ok, Collazo beat Ortiz and so what??? Ortiz has never been a true champ. He’s a guy that has no heart, chin and he’s a wanna be Oscar de la Hoya. Not a true warrior!!!!! I just hope that Collazo iS not really thinking about getting Floyd. That fight would be the biggest joke in boxing history… Collazo is just a ok boxer. Broner, Thurman, Maidana, khan and even Kell Brook would beat Collazo easy. Collazo should fight guys like Soto Karass, Paulie, Berto or even Mosley..

Posted January 31, 2014 6:27 pm

The Honeybadger

You can never count a veteran like Collazo out. Not a big puncher, more a technical fighter, but he was landing the cleaner shots with textbook boxing and crafty defense. Ortiz with his glass chin STILL no defense and wanted to make it a war. Hope Collazo gets the big money fights later. Malignaggi, Broner, Judah, Garcia, etc would be good, only clear loss Collazo had was vs Mosley. Maybe rematch with Berto, tho not sure if Berto to is interested!

Ha ha Mosley sure looked better against Floyd than he did against Pac. Pac beat him by a wider margin on the cards dropped Mosley and made him run all night scared to engage. If Floyd does the same thing same result shutout. Its easy not to get hit when thats all you focus on. Mosley had to suplex Pac to win a round lmao.

“EVERYTIME Ortiz gets hit and things get rough for him he quits.” – Correct. GBP tried to dismiss his quitting against Maidana as the action of a confused young fighter. But he’s a plain quitter. No balls on this fool.

LOL Ortiz. Classic front runner. Looks good when he’s dominating guys, but when they fight back he folds his tent pronto. When a non-puncher like Collazo KOs you in 2 it’s time to go into ballroom dancing full time.

Posted January 31, 2014 1:38 pm

Like the way he tries to say Pac would beat him but Floyd would have a tough time with him. If I am not mistaken didn’t Pac have a tough time with Mosley and didn’t look good against him but Floyd took him apart with ease. Or how about Marquez. lol. Collazo is a good match up for anybody and that includes Pac. He should get a title though and then challenge Pac or Floyd. With the way he KOd Ortiz he could possibly do the same with Pac.

Posted January 31, 2014 1:31 pm

Who TF fights only unbeaten guys? Certainly not Floyd. He has a choice between Khan and the undefeated bomber who smashed Khan.

Posted January 31, 2014 1:29 pm

“Ortiz is now in line to fight cherry picking Pacman.”

You gotta be kidding me. Pacquiao wouldn’t use this bum for sparring.

Rios lost to one ranked undefeated contender, 33-0, who he already stopped in a previous fight. Rios was 31-1. Does Pac fight only the undefeated?

Posted January 31, 2014 1:26 pm

Victor Ortiz can’t box worth a nickel and yet this is the kind of opponent Floyd chooses to fight. Ridiculous.

Amir Khan is another bum. A guy who can’t protect his head to save his life.

Posted January 31, 2014 1:18 pm

Hidalgo Collazos whole body of work shows hes a legitimate tittle level ww a good competitive loss to a close to his prime Mosley absolute dominance over Hatton a legitimate win over Berto and now the most impressive performance anyone has had against Ortiz. Pac would beat him for the same reason Mosley did just being the tougher stronger man with world-class skills. Thats Collazos weakness hes not that tough and strong but neither is Floyd so hed match up well with Floyd.

on the bright side for Ortiz, he’s now moved closer to a potential payday v. Pacquiao*. he fits the profile: a vulnerable but prominent Name still in his presumed “prime”. Ortiz should get in line early. whether or not Pacquiao* gets past Bradley, Ortiz has become suitable padding for a cherrypicker’s ring-resume.

Posted January 31, 2014 1:04 pm

If something happens once you can toss it up to chance, twice freak accident, three times coincidence maybe, by the fourth it is now a pattern. What was proven, again, last night, is that EVERYTIME Ortiz gets hit and things get rough for him he quits.

Posted January 31, 2014 12:58 pm

Early muggings are notoriously misleading, so nothing was proven last night by Collazo’s complete disarmament of Ortiz and subsequent not-quite-decapitation. Those two should go at it again and again until Ortiz lasts at the very least three rounds.

I agree Tito had to resort to dirty tactics but Vargas also retaliated with some of his own. Vargas is one of my favorite fighters. I don’t think he was rushed in to fighting with Tito though, he wanted that fight and they delivered that fight for him. I was heart broken after the first knockdown, lost a lot of money on that fight but he battled back and I thought he was gonna take it. Unfortunately that was the beginning to the end of his career.

Hey Dumbo, now you’re going to scream that Collazo will run from an Ortiz rematch???!!! jajaj. Dam, I beat you to it.

Posted January 31, 2014 12:11 pm

Yes what happened to Vargas was totally different. Vargas was a beast. But unfortunately was mismanaged. His team destroyed his career looking for the biggest quickest paydays. Way too green to be thrown into the lions den the way they did. He had no bussiness in that ring with Tito and even still made it a hell of a fight. Vargas couldve been a great fighter had he not been mishandled.

Posted January 31, 2014 12:04 pm

Don’t compare Ortiz to Vargas. Ortiz is nothing compared to Vargas. Vargas didn’t quit. Vargas was a warrior. That is so disrespectful.

Posted January 31, 2014 11:55 am

I hear you. I was at the fight and let me tell you Brooklyn came out to support Louis. I havent seen such a one sided crowd since the days when Trinidad fought at MSG or maybe Cotto. It was great. Maybe with Paulie calling his fights and doing the post fight interview Collazo will gain recognition. Yesterday people were calling him a c class fighter and today those same people are saying Ortiz is washed up. For those who dont know search for the Rivera vs Collazo fight. Go back and watch the Hatton fight with honest eyes. I knew he was going to win but not by KO. I strongly beleive that KO had more to do with the lack of heart than devastating force. That looked more like a man deciding not to continue than a man who was actually hurt. Kind of like that FMJ punch. But anyway great job Lou representing Brooklyn the way you always do with heart, courage, humility and class.

Liver Shot

Victor Ortiz has gone the way of Fernando Vargas. First have to give it up for Luis Collazo for a good fight, his career might have been different had the judges didn’t screw him after beating Andre Berto a few years back. Ortiz like Vargas thought he was puncher and a fighter. They were both wrong, they are boxer punchers who need to set up their big shots. When they have stepped up in competition they came up short. Ortiz needs an overhaul and trained by someone with credentials. Callazo has new life, Rios, Alexander, Alverado, Thurman, Povetkin, Broner are all big fights in his future if he can seize the moment.

Posted January 31, 2014 11:46 am

A fine win for Collazo. I hope he gets a big money fight out of it. When you fight the iron of the division, and win some and lose some, you are written off. If you build a glitzy record while being protected by your promoter, the Networks are knocking down your door. I hope Luis gets a break. He has earned it.

Shocker?! that Collazo is now the face of Rican boxing(?!?). didn’t catch the bout but Ortiz has now officially been demoted to C-level, which means no real promotion for Collazo. Ortiz was all risk little reward going in and with the KO win, Collazo only managed to maintain his own B-level status, which is the height of Rican boxing, these days. Thursday night fights and third on PPV undercards. speaking of which, Ponce shouldn’t take any thing for granted. Lopez was never that good but he can still land that sunday-punch if Ponce gets careless or over-confident.

Posted January 31, 2014 11:45 am

REM, Collazo fought the much beat up and destroyed Victor Ortiz. Mayweather did serious damage to Victor when he sucker-punch KOd him a couple of years ago. Then Josesito broke his jaw. Maidana made him quit. Ortiz has been hurt badly too many times. He can’t keep this up.

Now Collazo thinks he’s ready for Mayweather. KOing a shop-worn Ortiz is no proof that Collazo is ready to step up to the big show. He’d be mincemeat for Floyd. Collazo is game but look at his resume’. It’s not impressive. Pacquiao would cut him up and serve him for dinner.

Collazo should give Brandon Rios a call. Brandon will straighten him out.

Posted January 31, 2014 11:38 am

I cant believe I missed it. I knew Collazo would win never did I think by ko. Nice to see by the post here hes finally getting his respect thats Hatton, Berto and now Ortiz. Collazo is a tittle level fighter who shouldn’t have to keep his day job in order to make ends meet. Good job Luis sad that im like this guys whole fan base.

Collazo issued a challenge to Floyd after the fight! Be careful what u wish for brother, Floyd might actually fight you! Floyd will fight fighters who calls him out on National TV! Except if its Pac of course. Then excuses will start to come out from his mouth.

Ortiz should definitely retire. He has no heart. It wasn’t a devastating punch by any means. He was on his knees, and all he had to do was stand up and he would get through the round. He chose to stay down. He’s a quitter and doesn’t belong at this level. Time for him to quit for good.

I was glad to see the fight play out just as hoped it would, with Ortiz showing his cowardice just as he always does. Now, as I said yesterday, we can be rid of that wussy once and for all! He’s had way too many opportunities that he never deserved after the Maidana fiasco. He sucks!

Posted January 31, 2014 4:24 am

Big Ham

It looks like it is over for Ortiz. What a humilating career. I definitely saw a lot of fear and indecision in those two rounds. He was hyper and ineffective and looked like someone who was hurrying to get something over with that that they did not want to do. The right hook was a good shot that collazo hit him with, but not a fight changer. Victor stayed down. He told Collazo afterwards that he is gonna retire. I think he just might. He made his money. He does not have the chin, mental toughness, nor the overall skills to become a champion. If he fights on he will be like a welterweight Audley Harrison.
