No need to watch Khan get his undeserving shot at Floyd, here’s what will happen. This fight is so predictable there’s no need to watch it: Khan comes out throwing fast flurries which bounce off Floyd’s gloves and arms. Khan throws more fast flurries, he’s so fast, wow look at his speed … oh wait, Floyd suddenly uses his superior timing, Khan’s speed now means nothing, Floyd is timing his counter punches, Floyd lands a jab, then a straight right and boom, Khan is down, his speed counted for nothing, beaten by timing …. Khan gets up, it’s funky chicken dance time, Khan is wobbling like a newborn giraffe … the referee lets it continue, Khan runs around the ring like Usain Bolt, Floyd catches up to him, Khan throws flurries, oh he’s so fast, wait, Floyd nails him again with superior timing … Khan is down a second time, he’s up at eight but his eyes are rolling, his legs are doing that famous funky chicken dance yet again … the referee saves Khan and waves it off, it’s only round 2. Fans everywhere are disgusted. Khan is loving it. He just conned the boxing world out of $6m. No thanks bro. This fight stinks.Posted January 24, 2014 1:03 pm

I never once said that Ward wasn’t a very skilful or a top fighter Brother Hidalgo. He is obviously a very good fighter. It’s just that he’s a filthy cheating b@stard, a whiny pampered faux Christian gigantic hypocrite, and incredibly disingenuous.Posted January 24, 2014 9:14 am
Regarding the Dawson situation. Yes he called Ward out. And yes he was the one who said he would be willing to do it at 168. But that was said during the heat of a post- fight interview when he was still hyped up and full of adrenaline after scoring a big win minutes earlier. At a later date, when he was in sober state of mind and thinking straight, his team actually tried to negotiate that they do it at a catch weight of 170lbs. But Ward was having none of it. He refused to budge one inch because he wanted Dawson as weak as possible so that his task was that much easier. He could’ve picked up all Dawson’s belts had he agreed to it.
Interviewer: ”What weight are you going to fight Dawson at?”
Andre Ward: ”You know what.. (smug laugh, big Cheshire cat toothy grin) we’re going to make him come down to 168.”
Let’s not forget that Dawson had already agreed come to Ward’s hometown Jokeland to fight him, which is a huge concession given the amount of skulduggery and foul play Ward’s allowed to get away with there, but he was also willing to put all his belts on the line too. Dawson hadn’t fought at 168 for six and a half years and Ward clearly knew he wasn’t going to be facing a weakened version of him. But once again the little prima donna diva got all salty because he wants full credit for beating the best Dawson even though every bit of proof and evidence says he fought a mere shell of the man.
Well he sure did put his foot in his mouth recently with his comments regarding whether other fighters deserve full credit for beating drained opponents and ones they’ve fought at catch weights.
”I think Manny has a great legacy, but we got to be honest about some of his fights though. The De La Hoya fight, that’s a fight I don’t know how it would of played out if De La Hoya had been able to come in full strength, but it’s no secret that De La Hoya really had to suck himself down. Cotto had to lose weight. I’m not taking nothing from Pacquiao but with all due respect to Manny you gotta to look at Floyd’s resume, and people love to hate Floyd but people have to understand what he has been doing since the 90′s, people just totally wiped out the 90′s and forgot about it when it comes to Floyd Mayweather.”
”Problem is Floyd doesn’t get tired. And we’ve seen Canelo fade in fights before. Having to take off that extra 2lbs is.. people think it’s just 2lbs, but when you already struggling to make 154 that extra 2lbs is a lot. He’s going to put on a lot of weight but he’s not going to be able to put on the right kind of weight just in 24 hours. So he’s gonna feel the fact that he’s, you know, stripped his body, cutting his muscles to
And let’s be clear about something else here too. When Ward was posed the question why he was fighting an undefeated ‘risky’ opponent after the injury layoff during an interview, he said he chose that fight because he wanted a ‘dangerous’ opponent for his comeback. This isn’t true though. He actually wanted to fight middleweight Caleb Truax or Dmirti Sartison, and what’s worse he wanted to be paid a king’s ransom for doing so. HBO weren’t having any of it though. They told him it wasn’t going to go down like that. It was them who insisted on him taking on Rodriguez not him.
As with the Dawson fight and every other time when the deck is stacked heavily in his favour, his Royal Highness The Pampered Ponce wanted the credit and plaudits for beating a full strength opponent even though he’d done everything in his power to make sure he wouldn’t be facing one again.Posted January 24, 2014 9:10 am
My main bone of contention here is how Ward tries to play the victim all the time and wants everything stacked in his favour but carries on like he should be above the criticism that rightfully accompanies such privilege and favouritism. Even though he knew Rodriguez was serious weakened by the weight making process and the next day rehydration clause, he still got all salty when anyone mentioned that he might have not been facing the best Rodriguez.
But even that wasn’t enough for Ward, oh no! He wanted to gain a big psychological edge by seriously messing with Rodriguez’s head by trying to fleece him for almost half of his purse on the eve of the fight. Like I said, Rodriguez has two young children who suffer from serious illnesses and Ward knows damn well he does. Ward was already getting paid a small fortune for the fight but the supposed god-fearing Christian supposed Mr. Nice Guy couldn’t give a crap. Everything was already stacked heavily in his favour as it was but that’s never enough for him.Posted January 24, 2014 9:08 am
Ward already had home field advantage, his own personal referee and he knew god damn well that the next day rehydration clause was going to seriously weaken an already weight drained Rodriguez even further, but even that wasn’t good enough for him. Ward, as per usual, wanted even more advantages stacked in his favour. He wanted Rodriguez to weigh in the next day at 12:00pm even though they’d already agreed that it was going to be at 9:00 am the day before. So what happened? Ward’s manager James Prince, who is a straight up gangster, tried to break the electronic scales to delay the weigh in even further and when that didn’t work the batteries mysteriously vanished shortly after he’d been spotted at the scales.Posted January 24, 2014 9:02 am
It’s not like Rodriguez didn’t try to make weight either. Did you not hear that interview with Brother Ronald Shields on Joseph’s show? They tried everything they could to get down to weight but Rodriguez just couldn’t shift that last few pounds no matter how hard they tried. It got to the point where he was seriously jeopardizing his health, but then he still wanted to keep on trying. It was actually Shields who told to him to knock it on the head. He said he was going to pull him out of the fight if he didn’t stop trying because nothing was coming off. They couldn’t sweat out anymore fluid out of his body, and once that happens the only place it can come out from is the brain.Posted January 24, 2014 9:00 am
Greetings Brother Hidalgo.. I agree with you regarding me making some valid points about Ward. Regarding your comments about nobody forcing Rodriguez to miss the contracted weight or Dawson calling Ward out at 168, well as is so often the case with that nefarious pampered faux Christian egomaniac Ward, it’s not quite as clear cut as it appears on the surface.
Yes it’s true that the blame for Rodriguez missing the weight lies solely at his feet. However, remember that he turned down the original date in September on the grounds that he needed more time to get ready because he’d been living it up and blown up in weight quite considerably after winning that Super Four tournament. The agreed date in November was still to soon really and it was hardly a secret he was having big problems shifting the weight. Ward even smugly laughed about it in a interview he gave during the weeks leading up to the fight, saying that he knows (ie. one of his spies told him) that Rodriguez was ”walking around in rubber all the time” and that he’s not going to be at full strength come fight night. So Ward already knew in advance that he was going to be facing a drained Rodriguez. But he then tried to weaken him even more with his next day rehydration clause after Rodriguez failed to make weight.Posted January 24, 2014 8:59 am

4 more fights to go… Floyd can’t fight all of GBP top fighters because when Floyd’s retire he will wipe out all the cash cow of GBP and thier future will be questionable. Floyd fixed fights and out to make the most money with GBP. So Khan is one of the precious cash cow who accidentally got beaten by Patterson and a sacrificial lamb for Garcia and now it’s GBP repaying Khan for the Floyd’s fight. It’s a win win for Floyd and GBP. No top fighter is being sacrifice for this fight.Posted January 24, 2014 3:34 am

Joseph Herron – “Think about this in a very personal way, brother…who would you be most likely to tell intimate details about you personal life? A stranger who came across like an a$$hole…or someone you respected and knew relatively well?”
Thats exactly what I meant, you have to “play ball” to get anywhere. My main point is, that a GOOD interviewer should error on the side of fast pitch HARD BALL instead of startstruck fanboy who lobs softballs.
To me, there is NO worse interview, then one of that nature.Posted January 23, 2014 4:45 pm

Op Amp, that’s one of the factors that you and most fight fans don’t understand…one of the reasons why guys like Virgil and other trainers feel they can open up to me and tell me information is because I don’t present myself like a an intrusive third party.

Brother Gonzo, you make some valid points about Ward, but, nobody twisted Rodriquez’s fingers to blow weight for his fight with Ward, and nobody put a gun to Dawson’s head when he voluntarily went down in weight to fight Ward who handily and cleanly outboxed Dawson. Yeah, Ward has been known to win fights by headbutting and wrestling–grappling, I called it–but Ward has also demonstrated he’s a very fine boxer and ring technician.
As for Hunter’s reactions, yes, he can be snotty but, Rahim was purposely minimizing his boxers and arguing with him. And the way Rahim initially provoked him: “And as you know, a loss to Floyd Mayweather is not categorized like a loss to anybody else.” WTF?
Then Hunter made himself perfectly clear: “So what are you saying, that Canelo’s loss to Mayweater was a paddycake fight or something?” Hunter is trying to get Rahim to understand that Alvarez got dominated by Floyd, so he wants Rahim to explain to him how that makes Angulo a potentially unworthy opponent for Alvarez as both men were coming off losses but only one–and not Hunter’s fighter–was embarrassingly dominated.
Hunter also says to Rahim, “Now I know you got a personal thing against Floyd…” Rahim shakes his head, then responds, “What personal thing do I have against Floyd?” Right there–right at that moment, Rahim made the interview about him and that was a big mistake.
Later in their conversation, Rahim defends himself again saying, “I really don’t understand what assertion it is that you think I’m making.” Rahim just couldn’t let it lie. He just couldn’t move on. He wanted to be the antagonist so he continued on in his defiant manner. What the heck, he could have easily backed off and continued the interview in a positive manner. But he didn’t.
This was supposed to be a pre-fight interview, not a televised argumental confrontation. Rahim needs to leave his little-boy alter-ego at home.Posted January 23, 2014 12:24 pm

This supposed Christian allies himself with gangsters like James Prince who tamper with the scales of his opponent, removing the batteries so that they’re even more dehydrated, weakened and at risk of suffering damage come fight time and tries to steel half his opponent’s purse, which is but a fraction of his own, even though they have two very sick children to care for.
And even worse, he then deliberately sneaks in one of those ever so unintentional billy goat B-hop butt of his at the end of the fight to give them a cut to remember him by because he’s still salty that they asked him if he, as someone who is supposedly fiercely anti performance enhancing drugs and has been promising to implement OSDT for all their fights since 2009, would join them in help setting an example by taking the test, completely free of charge, which by the way they themselves had embarked on a year round program to do so.
Notice how SOG then acted like a complete cnut about them in the post-fight interview, refusing to give them any credit, still sticking the daggers in both then a months later, even though this goes against everything this supposed devout Christian’s lord and saviour Jesus Christ taught him?Posted January 23, 2014 10:58 am
Joseph Herron – Good points, but I would say, that it was Hunter who came accross as being full of himself, and Rahim simply wasnt backing down. Bravo Rahim! I see what your saying though, there were for sure cringe worthy moments of unprofessionalism from Rahim, but he has the right attitude IMO.
And as far as your statement, -“The interview really showcased how ignorant Rahim actually is concerning the business of boxing.”- In a way, thats a GREAT thing! The fans have LITTLE care for the business side of this sport. I know, that the 2 sides are intertwined, but the “business” side of this sport is more of a parasite then anything else! As a matter of fact, we as fans have watched the business side nearly destroy the sport.
We need more interviewers/journalists who QUESTION the parasitic activities, and dont play patty-cake with them. I understand that you as a journalist, have to play along with the “game”, (or you wont get to play at all), but your mind set should be to always subtely PUSH BACK against the BS.Posted January 23, 2014 10:57 am

He wants everything stacked in his favour all the time but none of the criticism that rightfully should accompany such privilege.
He wants everyone to be afforded him the respect of a clean fighter whilst he freely breaks every rule in the book.
He wants us to laud him as an exciting fighter whilst he spoils and cheats his way to victory with his excessive use of holding, mauling, leading with his head and butting ultra negative B-Hop tactics.
He wants us all to admit he’s a bigger puncher and has just as good chin as certain rivals of is even though he clearly isn’t and doesn’t.Posted January 23, 2014 10:40 am

And everything I said back then, every prophecy I made came to ring true. And now finally people are starting to realize that Brother Gonzo was right all along. A pair of nefarious faux Christian bible-carrying parasitic leeches who always want and need every single advantage stacked heavily in their favour but will bawl their eyes out like little babies and kick up a s h ! t storm of biblical proportions if anyone dare pull them up on their crap.
I told you to pay attention to SOG when he’s given interviews. How he gets all curt and ultra defensive at the merest hint of criticism, always saying what he really feels first, exposing his true dark un-Christian self, only to revert back to fake Christian Mr. Nice Guy mode by immediately correcting himself with totally transparent and insincere kinder words about whomever it is he’s been crying about or attacking. The hypocrisy that emanates from that clown could fill a blue whale’s a nu s 1000 times over. It’s absolutely comical to bear witness to the sanctimonious drivel that comes out of his mouth. Perception (from the Latin perceptio, percipio) is the organization, identification, and interpretation of sensory information in order to represent and understand the environment.
A psychic (/ˈsaɪkɪk/; from the Greek ψυχικός psychikos—”of the mind, mental”) is a person who claims to have an ability to perceive information hidden from the normal senses through extrasensory perception (ESP).
The term clairvoyance (from French clair meaning “clear” and voyance meaning “vision”) is used to refer to the ability to gain information about an object, person, location or physical event through means other than the known human senses, i.e., a form of extra-sensory perception.
Prophecy is a perception of truth inspired by the all-knowing .

Op Amp, I can definitely understand your sentiment regarding this very muddled issue of journalism in America. It’s a concept that really doesn’t exist in this country any longer. The lines between fact and opinion are blurred consistently, within the same article or interview even…so much so that fans and readers have a hard time telling the two apart these days.
But don’t mistake “having a pair” with being a disrespectful a$$hole who is full of themselves.
I could completely understand why Virgil responded the way he did…because Rahim’s questions were somewhat ignorant and loaded to the point that you couldn’t just answer them fully without explaining specific assumptions or misconceptions.
The interview really showcased how ignorant Rahim actually is concerning the business of boxing. It’s actually quite shocking, but most writers and many fighters don’t know as much as they should about how the business side of the sport is actually run.
If you ever listen to “The Pugilist KOrner”, one of the reasons why I introduce every guest in grande fashion is to let them know that the ensuing interview is going to be fair and respectful. My interviews always consist of a couple of softballs, followed by the proverbial knuckle ball usually thrown in the last half of the segment.

It doesn’t matter if Hunter is paranoid, nuts,two-faced or whatever else you want to call him. Rahim started arguing with Hunter and that’s not how you do an interview. Like any trainer, Hunter is protective of his fighters. He knows the realities while others only know perceptions. That’s the point he was trying to make. But Rahim, since he has little humility, decided to take it personal and make a contest out of it.Posted January 22, 2014 5:22 pm
Again, there’s low interest in this fight because there’s little doubt how it will turn out. Floyd with score a rare, at least in recent years, KO early in the bout. Khan offers nothing that will unsettle Mayweather. His advantages are youth and height — neither will be enough, by a long-shot. We understand there’s some money to be made by including the overseas market, but please don’t think that we’re looking at this as a serious contest between elites. Floyd will be the only elite in the ring that night. No way do I do a PPV for this one.Posted January 22, 2014 5:22 pm

Virgil Hunter is nuts, and comes off paranoid in the interview. Khan really doesn’t deserve a fight with Floyd, and he will be dominated. And if he thinks Canelo’s loss to Floyd has the same impact that Angulo’s loss to Lara does, then he needs to seek psychiatric help.smhPosted January 22, 2014 4:57 pm
Ha, yes I can explain. Khan is faster at putting multiple punches together but he is not quick enough to throw a punch immediately when he sees an opening. As like someone with Floyd he can throw the punch as soon as he sees the opening but Floyd does not put together quick combinations anymore.Posted January 22, 2014 4:12 pm
should get a good pay check. end of.Posted January 22, 2014 4:10 pm
Khan is a complete joke the worst ‘named’ fighter to EVER come from the uk (Bruno inc.) Hunter is a fool to think that we are…these two fighters are NOT PPV this is SCAM!….BOYCOTT!!!!!!!!!!Posted January 22, 2014 3:54 pm
I agree with Martin, Hecdog, Goose Machine and others. Virgil gets a tad touchy when interviewed. Good trainer, but gheeez loosen up man.Posted January 22, 2014 3:51 pm
Virgil always seems to be paranoid about all the questions asked about his fighters. He’s very touchy on any perceptions he has regarding what questions are being asked. The truth is that many fans are asking the same things that Rahim was asking. What do Angulo and Khan have to make anyone think they have a chance. Why should fans think Khan has any chance to beat Floyd? He’s done nothing to deserve this. Angulo is going to get destroyed IMO. He has nothing to offer but toughness. He has no defense, boxing skills or anything else to offer a good fight. Rahim tried to be nice, and let Hunter answer the questions, but Hunter always takes things too emotional and personal. Hunter is like a mad scientist that always thinks he has some hidden antidote that will help his fighters win. Khan and Angul both get slaughtered.Posted January 22, 2014 3:26 pm
Wow, was that an embarrassing interview with Virgil Hunter or what? Rahim asked good questions and was perfectly reasonable but Hunter came across as a total idiot.
It’s clear from what he said that Ward is looking to take the easy route of continuing to fight in a division he’s already dominated while delaying any move back up to 175 (at which he fought as an amateur) for as long as possible. Expect lots more boring fights from Ward, in other words.
As for Angulo and Khan, Hunter must know they don’t stand much of a chance, but he’s obviously just happy that they’ll be in such lucrative fights so he can line his own pocket. That’s maybe why he was so defensive in the interview, but even so, he handled it all wrong.Posted January 22, 2014 3:25 pm
Virgil Hunter on Chad Dawson when Dawson’s white promoter is speaking
‘speak for yourself Chad, this goes deeper then that, deeper then that
you ain’t no Mandingo Slave Chad, You ain’t no Mandingo Slave Chad’
‘You ain’t on no plantation no more Chad, quit letting that man speak for you, speak for yourself’Posted January 22, 2014 3:02 pm
Why all the unsporting psychological mind games and the underhand dirty tactics, Virgil? Ain’t it enough for you that your boy Ward has already always got everything in his favor all the time, huh?Posted January 22, 2014 2:54 pm
“It’s funny how people keep talking about these fan-friendly fights, these toe-to-toe fights. It don’t work when you’re at the top level,” said Hunter about the main and co-main event.
“My hat goes off to Danny Garcia. I knew he was gonna win. I have my own personal feelings about Matthysse, based on some experiences I had, so I’m glad they went through all the testing protocols, and he didn’t seem to have the same oomph. It was just a good night of boxing.
Hunter’s always got an excuse when one of his boys gets beaten. Like Floyd Sr. his giant ego can’t handle getting outdone and he don’t care whose reputation he smears.Posted January 22, 2014 2:49 pm
Oh and a tissue paper chin which he somehow believes is granite.Posted January 22, 2014 2:39 pm
Say what you want about Khan but he is fast and a former unified champ and got a hell of a body shot ( just ask Maidana and Judah ). He is dumb as a brick and delusional about his self worth but hey JMM and Bradley ducked him when he held the belts.Posted January 22, 2014 2:38 pm
man id love to see ward vs hopkinsPosted January 22, 2014 2:35 pm
When was the last time Floyd faced an opponent who was of similar/bigger size to him and was also ranked inside the pound for pound top 3? Or even in the top 5?? … Bradley is arguably bigger framed than Manny AND is P4P no.3…Posted January 22, 2014 2:35 pm
Guys, this was embarrassing to watch.
Rahim doesn’t know the first thing about giving a proper and respectful interview. It was painful to hear a great guy like Virgil giving Rahim a life lesson on the difference between perception and reality on camera.
He needs to enter the interview without an agenda…he might actually learn more that way.Posted January 22, 2014 2:33 pm

Peej can you please explain the difference between faster and quickerPosted January 22, 2014 2:04 pm
Happyboy, I’m in London, trust me Khan has ZERO fan base over here. Nobody even travels within the UK to watch him fight at home in Bolton. Nobody is going to travel to the US to watch him collect his retirement cash from Floyd. This fight is a joke. Showtime have been conned into thinking Khan is Ricky Hatton. Khan is NOT Hatton. This fight will be a PPV disaster.Posted January 22, 2014 1:25 pm
Virgil said it perfectly!Posted January 22, 2014 12:43 pm
Virgil didn’t duck any question. He has stated many times that he feels Amir is faster not quicker but faster than Floyd. And that is what he wants him to use. I liked the interview and I like the way he responded though I don’t think Raheem was asking questions to be disrespectful of Virgil. He was simply saying this is what other people are saying what are your thoughts.Posted January 22, 2014 12:42 pm
Virgil was ducking the question. Not all interviewers are gonna be easy and kiss your ass. Virgil seemed like a grumpy old man. Khan gets his ass whipped. Sorry.Posted January 22, 2014 12:35 pm
Virgil is changing his tune 2 months ago he saod Khan was not ready for Floyd but I guess he saw $$$$ and the rest was history.Posted January 22, 2014 12:32 pm
I keep on hearing about Khan’s fanbase, I was unaware they still exist.Posted January 22, 2014 12:31 pm
But what fights are the JWW and WW fighting. This GBP and TR, showtime and HBO bull has made it impossible to get the best matchups. Those two divisions may be the best but none of the best fights are being made. You damn right B-Hop is a legend.Posted January 22, 2014 12:27 pm
More reality: Khan is going to get dominated. His performance versus Julio Diaz was terrible. Khan is only being chosen as Mayweather’s opponent due to his fan base. That’s it! And while Angulo’s come-forward fight style will make for an entertaining fight, no one believes he’s going to win. He’s lost every big fight he’s been in and he’s coming off a fight in which he took a lot of punishment. He is going to lose. Period.Posted January 22, 2014 12:24 pm
Virgil is defensive in this interview. He’s frustrated by the fact that A. None of the top guys at 168 want to fight Andre Ward, THE #1 light heavyweight and the #2 P4P fighter in boxing and B. Fans are crapping all over Khan & Angulo as legitimate PPV opponents. He got annoyed by the term “perception” and couldn’t let it go. But in reality (no pun intended), Andre Ward is too good for his own good – too dominant but doesn’t bring an opponent a payday commiserate to the challenge beating a quick, crafty, dominant fighter.Posted January 22, 2014 12:22 pm
Rahim is an idiot. He had no business challenging Hunter in any way regarding Hunter himself or his fighters. Hunter is a no BS guy. He is likely the most straight-talking trainer in boxing. He doesn’t have a lot of patience of people who display ignorance of the sport or disrespect for him and/or his fighters. All Rahim had to do was apologize and rephrase the question or redirect to another subject. Instead he challenged Virgil and his boxers. This is a dead-end road with Virgil Hunter.
Put an idiot with a microphone in front of a camera and he/she thinks they are powerful. If Rahim had been questioning Vince McMahon like that, Radio would have been “turned off” immediately.Posted January 22, 2014 12:02 pm
This interview was ridiculous…Posted January 22, 2014 12:01 pm
@Zuks. This whole ‘perception’ word Virgil got hung up about is ridiculous in itself. The guy just had an axe to grind. Lets face it boxing relies on predictions, not only the gambling side but people tune in to watch x fighter beat that fighter, fighters get matched up to other fighters based off on how they performed and what they do. On the night anything can happen, but Angulo is deservedly the underdog vs Alvarez IMO.
Also anyone that truly believed Canelo would kO mayweather was smoking something.Posted January 22, 2014 11:33 am

After all he wants to fight the best WW in Floyd Mayweather.

@Joker! He may have a point remember PERCEPTION was Canelo will KO Floyd Mayweather and we know what REALLY happened!
So for him to speak highly about his fighter, it simply proves that he is the good trainer not a fool at all.
RADIO sucks as an interviewer…periodPosted January 22, 2014 11:16 am
EHH Virgil is an idiot in that interview. Merely a “Perception” that Khan is over matched and undeserving of a fight vs Mayweather? No my friend that’s stark reality. Now go get an education old man.Posted January 22, 2014 11:11 am
Its amazing we talk about Floyd, pac, Bradley, jmm, etc… and fail to mention how extraordinary we have some like Hopkins at his age holding a title and still competing at a high level.Posted January 22, 2014 10:53 am
