Provo vs Rios would be a hell of a fight. someone will end up down on a stretcher with severe long term damages . badass fight

Provo can box…a little bit … Enough to make the difference.

Posted December 28, 2013 5:55 pm

I think provodnikov beats rios in a high action fight. Both pressure fighters but I have to say provodnikov haves a bigger punch. But maybe this fights about who haves the bigger chin.

Posted December 24, 2013 4:55 am

Ruslan is a dangerous man.

Posted December 23, 2013 9:47 pm

Prodnikov took Bradley to hell and back. The 140lb division is not where he should stay. A fight with Thurman would be tremendous….as would a fight between Kirkland and Thurman. Yo, Floyd, where are you???

Posted December 23, 2013 8:33 pm

Anyone who has or who gets in the ring with Provodnikov has got some serious stones, he just has a look that says….”I will try and kill you”…..Rios will take the fight no doubt but I fear for him, tough but no exactly elusive. I get the feeling Provodnikov vs Manny will not happen.

Posted December 23, 2013 1:24 pm

Provodnikov doesn’t want to fight Pacquiao. Why force him?.

“but in the 24/7 he clearly tells his friend he was starving and felt like he was dying…”

Public Enemy, in which 24/7 did Cotto say that? The one for is fight with Pacquiao, or in the 24/7 for another bout?

provodnikov beat mike alvarado now all of a sudeen he can beat everybody now i like provodnikov he be a tough out for anybody him beating pacquaio i dont know about that i think he beat rios i mean rios been in to many wars and took alot of punishment in this fight he going to take more punishment as well as provodnikov to it wont surprised me if ruslan be the first person to stop rios but u cant never count rios out tho especially in a fight like this this what rios likes fight toe to toe battle this is up his alley it be fight of the year that for sure

Posted December 23, 2013 2:32 am

Cotto wasn’t dehydrated, lionhard. After losing to Pacquiao Cotto said, “It wasn’t the weight. It was his speed. He’s just too fast.” Then after Cotto stewed on the loss for over a year, he started saying that it was the weight.

DLH definitely was dehydrated, but to my memory, he wanted to fight at 147. Turned out that dehydrating all the way back down to 147 really took a toll on Oscar. So Manny beat him up as well.

That’s a bad matchup for Rios.

Posted December 22, 2013 10:40 pm

Manny can handle prodvodnikov cause his foot work, not rios. That’s a bad matchup for Rios.

Oh god….good 1 Arum. More in house mismatches and manny avoids ruslan.

Liver Shot

Provodnikov vs the human punching bag. Exciting for however long Rios lasts. Rios goes to a gun fight with a water pistol, too much fire power. The sad part is Rios will take a worse beating in this one because he has a strong chin. Ref will have to stop this one. Rios should fight Alvarado again.

Проводников голодный – он просто хочет драться и ему всё равно с кем . Он ещё не совсем понимает этот бизнес и поэтому хочет драться с Риос . Будь он умнее , никогда бы не согласился . Он уже чемпион и ему не нужен Риос .

O also i noticed a lot of you think this fight may be a war that damages both guys. Not neccesarily. Rios, obviously has to fight the way he does. There is no trainer that is gonna change his style. Ruslan has evolved and developed a bit under roach, so i can see him utilizing more footwork and boxing. The last two guys he fought were backwards movers so he had not choice but to come forward. He will not have to look for Rios.

Posted December 22, 2013 2:44 pm

Big Ham

This would be a good matchup. Rios is not shot, the problem with rios is he has lost two fights in a row. So it is not exactly a reward for Ruslan to finally get fight where he is the A side and he has to fight a promotional stablemate that is being recycled for the 2nd or 3 time in a row. If Provo trys to “wait” for pacquiao or bradley or Marquez, i think he will be waiting for a long time, that would be a big mistake. So Ruslan Should take any paying fight that HBO offers him where HE is the A-side. It’s his time now and a good win will only raise his stock. Rios does seem like a candidate. A move i would angle for is to try to unify the two of the titles against the Peterson Jean winner. If Ruslan had two belt that might give him more clout to land one of the big fights that he wants and i think he deserves.

Indeed hecdog we can definitely agree that fight should be made for all fans and for the overall good of the sport. I look forward to discussing in the future sir. Have a good one

Yes, we have seen the best Manny has. He is now on a decline and his best will not be coming back out again. Unfortunate but true.

I feel pretty much the same way about Rios, as I do Provo… If the fight happens it’ll be exciting, but it won’t be advisable for either of their health. Both guys should be out in with a soft touch, before fighting one another.

Provo, is exciting, but he’s going to crash and burn soon if he keeps fighting heavy handed fighters, back to back. I would favor him over Rios, but he would take his share of damage… I wouldn’t favor him over Pac, but Pac could get rocked and even stopped, and Provo would once again take his share of damage… Provo’s tuff as nails and brings the heat, he just eats way too many punches for my liking. Hopefully he’ll get through his career without permanent damage…

and this is going to be Garcia vs Roach again, throw in Ariza for that grilled finish

Provodnikovs will not fight Manny At all! I think he will fight Rios!

Posted December 22, 2013 9:26 am

Rios is trying to end his career convincingly by fighting all fighters that are above his level.

Posted December 22, 2013 9:23 am

Hope Rios doesn’t blame a loss to ruslan on busting to many nutts. Great fight fan friendly, I would watch that fight in a second.

Excellent match-up and I figure Provo will retire Rios with the kind of beating that he’ll put on him. Rios will be game but outgunned. Might even go down the way Rios’ fight with Anthony Peterson did years ago. I could see Rios DQ’ing himself after getting brutalized too much.

Posted December 22, 2013 3:45 am

How could anyone be opposed to seeing Provodnikov-Rios??? That fight would be a balls-to-the-wall barnstormer!

Posted December 22, 2013 3:36 am

If Pac does not fight Bradley, Provodnikov should fight his ASAP Provodnikov has already beaten Bradley, but Bradley’s judges and referee kept Bradley from losing, by cheating. Provodnikov left Bradley on the canvas and it very bad shape.

Posted December 22, 2013 3:04 am

Hecdog, I’ll allow you to dream Cotto & Oscar were not dehydrated. I’ll even leave you in belief that Barrera didnt get it from Junior Jones – and was way past his better days. Morales: a bit more respectable. I’m not gonna go thru your idols accomplishments, since you see him as the epitome of a fighter….I sure dont! But I guess I should be happy for your altered state that doesnt require liquor or drugs! Dream on my friend; may your hallucinations have a profound effect on your cerebellum, allowing you to believe that youre just as good a human being, with the ability to fly and fight arch villains that want to kidnap your idol!! Peace be unto you my delusional friend.

Why go after a guy who just lost every round of his last fight? Much more interesting for Provo would be to fight Maidana for his belt. Let Rios and Matthysse fight to determine who gets the next shot.

mayweather86 my friend, I also enjoy the conversation regardless if we see things differently. I’m a big Manny fan because of who he is, how he acts and what he’s done in the boxing ring. I have to sometimes laugh at myself when I say some crazy stuff, but that’s just the way I feel. Provodnikov is one tough fighter, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he did beat Rios, but I think Rios will have a little more in the tank, and will eventually wear him down. Rios takes a good punch, and I think his body punching will help him a lot in this fight. This is definitely a fans fight to see. I’m sure we’ll have more discussions on this fight in the future if they make it.

Posted December 22, 2013 12:16 am

lionhard my friend, you have me laughing, but it’s okay for you to feel that way. In the end, Manny Pacquiao will also have you in awe as he will do some incredible things in both his boxing and his political career. As I said, I have much respect for the man. I was recently sent a color photo autographed by none other than Manny Pacquiao. Freddie Roach also signed it. Freddie is one of the greatest trainers ever. I actually watched Freddie fight live. He was a tough fighter that came to fight each and every time he stepped into the ring. He didn’t have much speed, power or defense, but he brought a huge heart. He has taught Manny well. Lionhard, you must acknowledge that Manny is a great human being and a great fighter. His reign of terror when he beat such greats as Barrera, Marquez, Morales, Cotto, Oscar and others was one of the brightest moments in boxing history. This little man came on like a storm and was wrecking havoc on every opponent he faced. Manny was boxing. Athletes, political figure and dignitaries were all front row seat as they watched this man fight. You must give the man his just due even if you don’t like him or think that i put him up to high. This man is a fighting machine.

You have some valid points Hecdog I’m not going to discount them completely but Rios to me just doesn’t have the handspeed to make a difference against provodnikov. Strong yes but very slow and always a plodder. Kinda like Margarito only slower but more powerful. I’ll agree with the style point but I think that’s what makes me favor provodnikov more. You have to be able to create angles, present good speed and footworlike a Pac man does. Rios offers none of that. Only power. But with that power I could see a late stoppage, just don’t think it will play out that way. Respectfully agree to disagree on this one but I appreciate the discussion as always

Hec Dog, I WONT BURST your BUBBLE – youre DELUSIONAL! If this man makes you feel this way – its IMPOSSIBLE for you to see any different! I believe as a kid it took you till 17 years of age to realize Santa wasnt real! I’m sorry btw, if you didnt know by now he isnt real. I CANNOT get into it with you because your like Provodnikov in his fighting; in YOUR mentality – one dimensional. I’ll leave you in your world, as I see it brings you Wonderland moments that you can share with those closest to you. May you dream on untill your bubble bursts! You most likely wont see it as a burst, but as a bloom spurting Mannys kindess as he BLASTS thru the small defenseless choices that he uses to make you – Hec Dog smile & blush – at the great one – you love to love! Hec….will you guide my sleigh tonight?? Tweet tweet!

Posted December 21, 2013 10:25 pm

The D

I don’t know why people think Provo can beat Manny all of sudden. Provo is easy to hit and does not have the world class chin. I’m a huge Provo fan, but he is not at that level. He will get dropped and stopped. Too fast too furious.

Provo vs Rios is a great fight. If Provo’s chin can hold up, he should win. Winner gets Maidana…lol.

Posted December 21, 2013 10:24 pm

PEEJ my friend, no one has seen the best of Manny Pacquiao yet. Once we can get Floyd to sign the fight, the world will see why Manny Pacquiao could very well be the greatest fighter ever. As I have said many times, Manny will have that one style that will cause Floyd Mayweather problems that he will not solve. In the mean time, Manny will destroy Bradley, Marquez, Garcia,, Provodnikov, Canelo and GGG. Yes, GGG. Manny is just now reaching his prime. The technical, systematic, graceful boxing exhibition Manny put on versus Rios was nothing short of brilliant. Fans were in awe of the tactical change Manny displayed on that night. Mayweather himself said it was an excellent display of boxing. Manny showed is ability to adjust. He has a variety of ways to dissect his opponents in the ring, and this was one of them. In the future, you will see Manny Pacquiao continue his greatness. We will alll miss him when he finally retires, so keep your eyes on this man’s career. He’s something special that will never come around again.

Posted December 21, 2013 10:19 pm

5th match with Marquez….yawn….snore.

Rematch with Bradley.

Prov/Marquez should fight. Then we’ll see what’s what.

After that, Pac should consider a fight with Provodnikov. If he beats Marquez.

Posted December 21, 2013 10:12 pm

lionhard my friend, Manny Pacquiao is not my idol. He’s a fighter that I truly respect. One must only watch him inside and outside the ring to see that he is a class one person. He has true character that stands out. A man that speaks well, respects everyone, has humility and is always the same person he’s always been. He is without a doubt one of the most loved athletes ever. He sets the example for everyone. Inside the ring, he’s the most exciting fighter to ever step inside the squared circle. In his prime, Manny Mania was compared to the first man landing on the moon. He laced the cover of TIME Magazine, he was voted Fighter of The Decade by the most respected boxing writers in the world. He was singing hit songs, he was sought after my many, many sponsors. Manny Pacquiao was voted in as a congressman of a Country. He was invited to the White House by President Obama, and was asked for advice by the President. He gives to the poor. He passes legislation to help those that have suffered through human trafficking. Manny Pacquiao came from a humble beginning and has accomplished so much. I can only respect and be in awe of this man. No one can match his achievements that I’m aware of. All of this and he’s the only 8 division boxing champion in history, which technically makes him the best fighter in the history of boxing. * divisions is unheard of and will never be equaled again. He has been through his ups and downs, but he never avoided anyone. He lost, got back up and put on one of the most spectacular boxing exhibitions of all time versus Brandon Rios. Manny has been chasing Floyd Mayweather for years, and Floyd to this day continues to run. I’m just an ordinary boxing fan that loves prize fighting and am always intrigued and inspired by some of the fighters. I don’t think anyone in boxing history can write a story like the legendary Manny Pacquiao. Manny is the best,

Posted December 21, 2013 10:07 pm

Hecdog, I believe Morales and Marquez looked good against Pac. Bradley didn’t look bad and Pac didn’t look great. So your mistaken when you say everyone looks bad against Pac. Not to mention Didn’t Abril box circles around Rios? Rios doesn’t look good against boxers, as a matter of fact neither does Pac.

Posted December 21, 2013 9:53 pm

Gentlemen, you must not base your opinions on the Manny Pacquiao fights against Brandon Rios. All fighters look terrible against the legendary Manny Pacquiao. Rios should not be underestimated. This man can punch to both the body and head. I know Provodnikov is faster, but he will get hit to the body and the uppercuts will hit him all day. I think Provodnikov is a solid offensive fighter, but Rios will wear him down and stop him. This will be an all action fight, and I look forward to it, but in the end, Rios will stop Provodnikov. And I will not brag about it one bit at all. Fighters are to be respected as well as fight fans.

Posted December 21, 2013 9:50 pm

Mayweather 86 my friend, I’m going to have to respectfully disagree with you. I really do hope they make that fight between Provodnikov and Rios. Rios was made to look badly only because Manny Pacquiao chose to hit and move. Manny did a fabulous job using his speed of hand and foot, and Rios was lost. Fights are all about styles. Prior to this fight, Rios had never really fought guys that would box and get out of there with the blazing speed of a Manny Pacquiao. Provodnikov will not run. He is a determined animal that continues to come at you. I truly like him a lot and always wish him the best because he has showed Manny Pacquiao a lot of respect, but no one out fights Brandon Rios. Trust me on this, If and if they sign that fight, you will see Brandon Rios stopping Prodnikov late in the fight.

Posted December 21, 2013 9:42 pm

Hec Dog, youre DELUSIONAL concerning your Idol! Pac himself would even think your “over doing it” concerning him! He’d avoid you, in order for you to dream on, to not let you see the “real” side (which is ORDINARY in many ways)!! Hec, will you guide my sleigh tonight? Do you believe in Superman?? Mannys loyalty & pure heart had him BASHING an overmatched lightweight in the hopes of love, tenderness, gentleness and good will towards his fellow man??! Hec, is Spongebob & Alice residing in your Wonderland as you GUSH over someone that you dont know personally……Mannys gonna avoid you…lol

Why not do Pac vs Provo:? It’s a guaranteed action fight that Pac should win, but not a gimme for either of them. Just saw ESPN has a poll up and only 22% believe Provo can win. If the fight happens Pac would likley be just a -350 favorite though, so theoretically that’s +150 of cream as a value bet on Provo.

Provo will crush Rios like a garbage compactor. Rios, strung out on drugs or not, is already past his prime physically. He peaked early for some reason.

Hecdog. In your mind Pac obliterates everyone. Rios is awful and was put in with Pac to make him look good. Everybody knows that now and those of us not blinded by fan fare knew it before. Provodnikov will smash Rios with as much ease as he did Alvarado. Only difference is Rios will finish the fight I don’t see him getting stopped. As for Pac-provodnikov of course we expect Pac to win but I believe abner mares learned a lesson in tangling with former sparring partners. Don’t be so sure of everything sir. I’ve come to respect you more with time and I’m not trying to be disrespectful just trying to get ya to take the blinders off. I told you about broner and I was dead on there. Just think it through a little bit.

Posted December 21, 2013 8:52 pm

Manny Pacquiao will destroy Provodnikov if they were to fight. Manny beat him un consistently in the gym, and would obliterate him in a real fight. Manny is the most skilled offensive fighter in boxing history. No one matches his speed of hand and foot and his punching power. You can’t just send in a rough and tough guy like Provodnikov and think he can beat arguably the greatest fighting machine of all time. Trust me, if by some miracle this fight happens, Manny knocks him out before 9 rounds. I hope that they do not fight because they are good friends, and manny’s loyalty and pure heart will not let this happen even if they offered him all the money in the world. Manny is a gentleman with character. He builds people up. The world looks up to Manny Pacquiao. I think Provodnikov and rios would be a great fight, and get this. Rios stops Provodnikov. Rios is a lot tougher and stronger than you think. Provodnikov would have the heart to go toe to toe with Rios, and that would be his down fall. Trust me, Rios will win.

“IF” Arum takes this fight for Pac he’ll be exibiting faith in his fighters SKILZ; to me, Pac will be considered BRAVE for accepting this fight considering his TAX ISSUES! Provodnikov has beautiful delivery with those hard shots of his (he needs more than just that though)! Pac choosing to deal with this barrage would show courage AND belief for the skeptics (ME), that he’s actually challenging himself – before a showdown with Mayweather and a FREE potential tax payment – lose or lose!! ESPECIALLY if he takes DRUG TESTS, like he did for MOLASSES RIOS – beforehand!! Prov fighting rios is MURDER! Rios was ALREADY slurring his speech BEFORE Pac! He’s simply a stepping stone for guys like Pac & Prov….sad…..Pacquioa and Provodnikov know that a EASY fight was/is in front of them with this dude….how admirable is THAT???!!

Posted December 21, 2013 6:24 pm

agree with prof. pac needs to leave arum.

Posted December 21, 2013 5:46 pm

Prof Konje

Provodnikov would give Pacquaio a very difficult fight and I believe that he will beat Pacquaio. Roach and Arum both know this which is why it will not happen. Marquez isn’t interested in beating Pacquaio (again) so that leaves Bradley. Arum will make that fight because Bradley can’t hurt Pacquaio but Provodnikov can. If Pacquaio were smart (but he really isn’t) he would walk away from Arum. Mayweather is not in the picture for Pacquaio because of Arum. Look for Arum to match Pacquaio against “easy” wins until he’s through with him.
