” Get over it ” ? Try telling it to Lenny .

Not so sure how Lewis was hated when he was active or overrated when retired. If you consider beating every person you ever fought, fighting in probably the strongest era ever, fighting every top opponent (including 12 world champions, numerous hof’ers and at least 3 atg’s) overrated then I guess the sport is doomed. Besides Marciano, there’s not a hw that ever lived that wouldn’t swap their résumé for Lennox’s.

Anonymous… When did I say I could influence how vitali is remembered you goon? I’m merely correctly predicting how vitali will be remembered; dominant but in a very weak era full of nobodies. Zero outstanding victories, zero entertainment and zero missed. Lost to the great fighter he fought, get over it.

England Is Dead

Lewis sat around for months after his fight with Vitali and I wonder how many calling for Vitali to be stripped, said the same about Lewis. Probably many as he was hated when he was active and has become overrated since retirement. He is not missed in the least.

Posted December 3, 2013 5:35 pm

Just retire from watching boxing scottyboy, you won’t be missed. Try something that appeals to your limited attention span. Perhaps MMA. As for how Vitali will be remembered, you have 0 say in that matter.

Translation of any te tumbo comment about Vitali: “He beat up my Mexican hero Arreola and made him cry like a woman, in his and my own backyard, so I am obligated to take an anti-Vitali stance at any opportunity – Which basically means going back 10 years to his fight against a HOF’er, that he was winning at the time of the stoppage and doing anything I can to take as much credit away from him as possible – and giving all credit to Lewis, including twisting facts. Otherwise, no thoughts on HW, really.”

Posted December 3, 2013 5:30 pm

Just retire Vitali, you won’t be missed. People will only remember you from never having beaten a single hof fighter and being the last tko victim of the only hof fighter you ever fought. The history books will be unkind to you for being in such a pathetic division despite dominance, just as they are for Holmes. Entertaining champions please.

Fight Aficionado

As leader of the opposition party in Ukraine, Vitali has much bigger concerns so I’d be surprised if he fights again. AP: The opposition lost its attempt to topple the government by parliamentary means when a vote of no-confidence got the support of 186 members of the Verkhovna Rada, 40 shy of the majority needed. Vitali Klitschko, heavyweight world boxing champion and leader of the opposition party Udar, vowed that the action would continue. “We will peacefully blockade the government building and not allow them to work,” he told demonstrators at Independence Square after the no-confidence motion failed.

“Lewis got beat around like a rag doll and looked so relieved when the fight got cancelled . . .” which in no way diminishes the validity of his WIN. after all, fight-related injuries are part and parcel of the fight-game. fighters to fragile to endure 12 rounds of punching exchanges will invariably be overcome by more durable opponents. never mind how respective talent or skills breakdown on paper. after all, that’s why they schedule the actual Fight(?!). the results of which are the final and ultimate say about who is the superior fighter on the fight-night designated to answer this question. Lewis was the superior fighter v. Vitali on the night they actually fought. otherwise, it’s impossible to prove what Never happened.

TALKING ABOUT LEWIS, has anyone heard anymore about his so-called X-Factor for wannabe champion heavyweights? it was back when WLADIMIR beat POVETKIN that LEWIS came out with his plan for boxers to send them tapes of them in action and he would pick the best few he would train to heavyweight glory….well! has anyone heard any more on this! or was it a pipe dream or a bit of LENNOX trying to hug the limelight, again?

Too much political turmoil and unrest brewing in the Ukrane right now, so it seems unlikely that Vitali will have too much time for boxing, a retirement statement almost seems inevitable.

Still hard for some of the Lewis Ladies Fan Club to understand and
admit these simple facts ; 1) Vitaly , was never beaten ! BOTH losses were due to medical stoppages . 2) Unlike Lenny who was
KTFO TWICE . Vitaly was NEVER even knocked down ! 3) In BOTH his
” loses ” Vitaly was way ahead on ALL cards ! 4) Claiming that Vitaly
” quit ” against Byrd , only proves what an ignorant idiot the claimant
is ; had Vitaly continued the fight , he probably would have ruined his future career . As it turned out by ” quitting ” he went on to become the greatest H/W EVER ! You do the math , as to what was a better decision ! 5) Lenny was beaten from pillar to post . He was handily
LOOSING the fight , when the injury to Vitaly’s eye caused the stoppage . If you ladies consider this a decisive win for Lenny , you
must be aware that the rest of the world considers it UNFINISHED
BUSINESS and inconclusive ! 6) Vitaly NEVER ducked or avoided ANY man in the world , while Lenny never had the guts to face Vitaly again ! and 7) Vitaly RETIRED Lewis and went on to become the greatest Heavyweight EVER , while Lenny tucked his tail between his legs , hid under his Mama’s skirts and disappeared for ever !

Eagle Eye

Lewis got beat around like a rag doll and looked so relieved when the fight got cancelled to that lucky cut from inside of glove (watch the fight in slow motion when it happens). Vitali was winning 4 rounds to 2. Why would you not do the rematch for the biggest pay day of Lewis life to not leave any doubts? Vitali was yelling like mad not to stop as he knew he would win.

Fact is Lewis got his ass flat KO loss by 2 boxing bums. Vitali never been even knocked to canvas and his losses due to injury while he was still winning (Byrd was pathetic as Vitali beat him easily every round but if Vitali continued he could have had to retire for good with injury of shoulder like Haye – Wlad then spanked him to show you how easy a Klitschko can beat Byrd and Wlad is not half the fighter Vitali is).

Prime Vitali beats any HW now in from the Hall of fame. Lets hope there will be someone like him or even better in the future.

Vitali didn`t retire Lewis, age retired Lewis.

If Vitali had actually managed to win instead of getting treated like a slab of lamb then people would have a case

Posted December 3, 2013 2:26 am

Only thing Vitali was beating was his face on Lewis gloves. A out of shape Alexis who had been retired for a year. In shape Lewis would have stomped Vitali a new arse hole and KTFO his punk robotic ped ass.

suffice it to say that Vitali was at his best; a chubby Lewis wasN’T; but it still didn’t prevent him from BUSTING Vitali up beyond any reasonable chance of salvaging a “W” on that fight night. we’ll never know what would’ve happened in an immediate(?) rematch other than Vitali’s laceration being re-opened but what we Do Know is that it was the final bout of Lewis’ career and no amount of money or ring-glory was enough to make him reconsider. in this age of only enhances his ring-legacy, which includes a documented “W” v. Lewis was stopped by both McCall and Rahman with one punch, got a win against a mentally unstable McCall in the rematch, ‘beat’ Holyfield in their second fight when he didn’t really win, was losing to Frank Bruno and was retired by VK. Good champion, slightly over-rated these days.

Nobodies like Sredmond can’t wait to weigh in on Vitaly’s giving up
the belt . They waited for so long in vain for him to lose , but there was NOBODY able to take it away from him in the ring ! Vitaly is a champion , who was NEVER beaten , was NEVER even knocked down
and who even today , at 42 , has nothing to fear from anyone . Oh
sure , he ” lost ” two fights , but in both cases he was way ahead
and the fights were stopped due to injuries , rather than the other fighter’s superiority . There has never been a h/w champion before ,
who was as dominant , for so long . Personally , I also happened to feel that he should retire , but I also feel that he should retire on HIS own terms , rather than because of pressure from a bunch of nondescript nobodies !

If true this could get interesting. I really hope Stiverne can drop the greedy Don King and get a title shot he deserves.

I think Vit should fight Wlad. In round 3 Vit will pull a Sonny Liston and lie down after his brother taps him on the head. He shades his eyes from the lights as the ref counts him out and the WBC Belt goes to Wladimir!!!!!!!

I can’t understand why the WBC lets Vitali get away with this, and/or why they kiss his a$$ so much. He’s hoarding his title but not defending it. WBC rules state that a champion must defend his title at least three times a year and at least one fight a year must be a mandatory defense, unless the champion is granted an extension or exception.

Vitali has not fought in over a year so he has not met any of the requirements for WBC defending champions. He has not fought in almost 15 months. Meanwhile, he’s stymied progression of a number of other heavyweights while they wait for him to “make up his mind.” Clearly the WBC has been too lenient with Vitali.

If the guy is uninjured but isn’t going to fight at least one fight a year he should be stripped of his title.

Vitali Klitschko dont have it in him any more. He just holds on to the belt with-out wanting to fight for it. He is a parlament politic and is up for the Ukraine presidential election so boixing is not on his mind that much these days. Vitali will be 43 and its time to retire now. He had a great run in boxing and made lot of money BUT its time now

Posted December 1, 2013 5:05 pm

Boxing doesn’t need unified champs. They just need to do away with the titles and stick with the Ring Belt. We already know who the champ is. Titles can be stripped the Ring Championship belt can’t be. Plus there are no sanctioning fees.

Posted December 1, 2013 4:35 pm

Fury will get tore up. Hughie will get blasted out hard too. Those guys are club level fighters on the world stage at best.

Posted December 1, 2013 4:30 pm

The thing with the WBC title is – even if Vitaly vacates, no matter who wins the belt, the heavyweight champion of the world will STILL be a guy named Klitschko…

The new wave coming up is T. Fury, H. Fury, Joshua, Ruiz, and possibly Wilder. Helenius and Pulev aren’t championship potential anymore than Boystov. Stiverne may be a mandatory, but he certainly sin’t the future.

Posted December 1, 2013 4:00 pm

Tachyon, Stevenson got outshined in his own hometown, by Kovalev. He didnt even want to bring him up afterwards though and started to talk Hopkins and Froch. I understand what you mean about business but the way he delivered the answered made him look like a PU$$. He should have just said: of course! If HBO wants this to happen lets get it going!!! Of, course, in response to Kellerman saying: Kovalev next? Adonis said: Kovalev is a good fighter,… But I think the fans want to see me fight Hopkins or Froch next. So, Kovalev stole his hometown thunder and he wants to talk about other fighters? What he said and how he said it made him look scared, not like Donald Trump. And by the way, Kovalev IS a champion, his belt was on the line last night for less than 2 rounds.

Posted December 1, 2013 3:51 pm

MNboxingFAN – Sean

I don’t think there is anyone else out there that either Klitschko needs to face. Their legacy is secure. However it would be nice if one retired and the other acquired their belts… leaving us with one unified champion. Something boxing has been missing and needs badly. That way they could retire when they lost… and we could still have a lineal champion. Other wise all of the belts will be divided up again and have fight offs for each belt and it will be many years before we see a unified champion.

Posted December 1, 2013 3:48 pm

That isn’t the problem, Stivern has a problem with Don King and that is why the fight has not been made. Klitchkos already sent them the paper work to let them know who to negotiate with. Steivern is trying to get a court order so King will not be apart of the negotiations. So really Stivern has a problem on his side.

Posted December 1, 2013 3:45 pm

Time for talk is over. Hurricane Stiverne did everything they asked him to. Klitschko must be stripped of his title immediately, and it should go to the winner of Stiverne vs Adamek.

Posted December 1, 2013 3:38 pm

This should be the last day…its fight or lose the belt. And it should be against Pulev or someone in the higher realm of the div. not against Toney or Harrison..a somewhat worthy fighter atleast.I agree at this point theres not really a huge threat out there…but still someone like Pulev who would atleast be abit intresting.

Which heavyweight currently fighting should Klitchko fight? Are any of them REALLY a threat to beat him? A wise move would be to go into policitics aand forget boxing. Retire and do something constructive for your country, Put the belt up for grabs and have a round-robin type of thing including the younger Klitchko, and whoever wins will be the new WBC champ.

Posted December 1, 2013 2:53 pm

I saw Vitali speaking in the Ukraine parliament the other day. He was in an argument with another MP and the other MP was really outwitting him – cutting him to ribbons. The speaker then called for an end to the debate, but I’m sure Viatli would have won if he were allowed to continue.
