“business man” PMSL, you don’t see business men throwing their money out the car window. Incredibly talented boxer I agree with.

“It’s admirable to have a fighter so gracefully and rightly admit when another fighter is above him in the fight game…”

Why does any fighter have to admit–gracefully or not–that another fighter is “above” him?

Ward is patronizing Mayweather. If he was getting the same paycheck as Floyd you can bet he wouldn’t be making such concessions.

Tark, we’re in agreement. If Ward gets to be #1P4P it will only be by default, not because he earned it; but because Mayweather retires and relinquishes the mythical title when he calls it a career. Ward cannot simply win the Super6 in 2011 and expect to rest on his laurels. How he won last week was impressive, but WHO he won against was not. I wrote this in a previous post but it bears repeating: It took Mayweather years to reach the top spot, paying his dues, not stopping after Corrales, not stopping after De La Hoya, not stopping after Hatton. Ward might eventually be number1 by default, but he is closer to everyone else after him on that list than he is to Mayweather. Nothing personal, but as a boxing fan there’s just something unlikeable about Ward. I don’t think he looks for big fights, I think he looks for convenient fights.

The only way Ward could become number one is by fighting Kovalev…and he’s not going to do that in a million years.. Mikey Garcia has fought the same level of boxers Ward fought, really not that good, but Juanma was rated a Top-5 P4P fighter at one point… Mikey is a 2-Division World Champion. and Ward isn’t.

Mayweather has fought ATG’s like Cotto and DLH … Ward hasn’t.

I believe Floyd’s next opponent is going to be Pacquaio… How do you compete with that??? Some even consider Pac to be the GOAT.

The Rings P4P rankings not only includes HWs but they have W KlitschKO ranked #4. Lol

Posted November 21, 2013 6:10 pm

Wlad wouldn’t compare to anybody in the P4P ranking. But you don’t put Heavies in the P4P rankings because like I said, the ranking was created to show recognition to none heavyweight fighters. Basically if you are the heavyweight champion you are the baddest man on the planet. So they created the P4P rankings really just for Sugar Ray Robinson but they would never put heavyweights in the ranking because I said before being the heavyweight champ you are considered the baddest man on the planet

You do put HWs in the p4p list, as they should be. P4P is a ranking that is supposed to remove size differences between fighters when analyzing them. So if WK were 168 pounds, how would he stack up against Ward, ect, ect. P4P = remove the weight difference, and compare everything else.

If the price is right.

I thought the excessive home field advantage that Ward got in the super six was kind of BS, but now it doesn’t matter because he is THE recognized champ. Ward has earned the right to call MOST of the shots. Plus, it looks like he is TRULY confident in his abilities, so I doubt he would decline fighting in England.

Boxing is not grappling like John Ruiz, Bernard Hopkins, Andrew Ward. Donaire, Ward, Bradley are to early in the P4P. In order to reach that goal you have dominant and champion sometime. That is not counting semi retirement.

Ward has the better opposition in front of him to face GGG.,Martinez kovalev Stevenson bhop and maybe a rematch with froch but in England to make it tougher for him. Mayweather tends to stick to fighters he has a advantage over. Alvarez was a good fight for his legacy though.

The double left hook with the 2nd one having good power is a thing of beauty and a morale sucker. Love that combo.

I rarely re watch fights as I don’t have the time, but I did re watch ward vs Rodriguez. A beautiful performance.

Posted November 21, 2013 1:19 pm

You don’t put Heavies in the P4P list. The list was created to give non heavies recognition. Mainly Sugar Ray Robinson. So you do not list Heavies in the P4P list.

Yes Ward has fought away from the west coast. And no it does not matter that he has all the titles because he is the Champion. The titles no longer mean anything. You want to be the man in that division you have to beat Ward.

Has ward ever fought away from the west coast. Theres no way in hell he would come to England. Not even if he was paid the Crown Jewels. It’s not in his nature. He’s the champ so he will stay at home. He’s the champ to hell. Box boring. Ward is not a big name. He is super talented but he is boring. He is as boring as Hopkins and no one want to ever see him fight again

Most people want carnage as long as it doesn’t involve them, people like to talk bravely about a fighter that puts it all on the line and not help said fighter when his life is actually on the line in a hospital bed. IMO people should learn to appreciate the sweet science and explain it to their friend and family member. I try to help my friend understand what I enjoy out of boxing so that after the fight we can discuss what we enjoy and how we believe the fighter accomplished it.

A slug fest is exciting to me but even more exciting is a great boxing match.

Don’t understand all this P4p bull. How can ward be number 2. He does not hold all the SMW belts. He hasn’t moved up in weigh and won belts. By your reckoning wlad should be #1. He has dominated his division. Taken on all challengers. The only belt he doesn’t have is vitals. P4P is bull made up by yanks to yank on there own chains. Fair play with may weather but ward. No way.

te tumbo – Well said! I hope he travels to England, and gives the warrior Froch another beating. It would be something special for him to travel accross the big pond and do it again on Frochs home turf, provided Froch takes Groves out in impressive fashion! After that GGG, or he needs to travel to 175, and clean that divison out too!

Absolutely correct Te Tumbo

it’s a sincere pleasure to watch Ward in action. his abilty to neutralize, exploit, and Explode on opponents is what the sport of competitive boxing is all about. it was “Bomba” who didn’t live up to his hype. Ward expertly defused him with relative ease. a beautiful thing to watch and a rare spectacle for true fight-fans to appreciate.

Posted November 21, 2013 12:31 pm

Ward is top dog at 168. Some people just don’t like the sweet science. They want to see fighters with no defense just throwing punches then getting injured. Which is basically suicide to an extent. Ridiculous. Ward is the P4P #2 at this time and when Floyd retires then he can take up the #1 spot.

Posted November 21, 2013 11:35 am

Maybe Im misreading this….is the author suggesting Ward fight Mayweather???

Posted November 21, 2013 11:26 am

Ward (168 lbs. title) vs. Mayweather (154 lbs. title) @ 160 lbs.

Okay, just kidding.

Posted November 21, 2013 11:23 am

ward also looks like angry cat.

Posted November 21, 2013 10:58 am

There sure are alot of stupid opinions around here. Ward should of knocked sloppy la bomba out. ward style is boring yet effective. this guy can not carry the sport. period. ward is even more boring as an announcer for hbo then he is in the ring. rematch froch in england then step up and take a belt from a light heavy, then you can call him number 2. chad dawson is garbage.

I already rate Ward above Floyd. Unlike Floyd, Ward seems to have a warrior mentallity (so far). In floyd, I see an incredibly talented boxer, who is a business man and lacking a true fighting spirit. A good example of this, is a FIGHTER like Ali would have shown up at Pacs door with a brown paper bag of PEDS, TELLING him to take them all, cuz im still goona WHOOP ya! HA! Ali’s mental fortitude in the area of fighting confidence was a thing to behold!

Ward is number 2 until Floyd retires or loses.

Ward has a wierd shaped head
