Very comical article , Povetkin doesn’t know how to fight a taller guy, So, a reamtch ??? Why ?? the end result would be the same … Povetkin is a killer with a heart of a lion , a real warior but as I stated in an earleir posting , As a fighter with skills and experience fighting taller guys, HE SUCKS .. as was evident in hois very poor performance against the Russian giant. Take some time off fire your trainers and get one who can teach you some lateral movement then come back RE-INVENTED and start again .. But as for your performance in this fight it was POOR man, very POOR.. You did a GREAT job at humiliating yourself … A Champion you’re NOT !!!!! Well, I think that Wlad punches a lot harder than Haye and Wlad could not punch Povetkin stiff, and the left hook Wlad landed on Pov was a whopper. Povetkin has a very good chin and I think he would test David Haye and that it would be a very competitive fight, especially in that their sizes are similar. A well balanced match up. Povetkin will have to do something if Wlad does not re match, or he will have to retire in Russia eating baloney sandwiches and drinking Vodka. And counting all his money he just won.Posted October 11, 2013 11:08 am

Wlad was “not forgiven for being a bore” in the US before he faced Povetkin… This latest debacle just solidified the longstanding notions that he’s a really dull fighter at times and that he’s overreliant on clinching…He just took his usual to a WHOLE new level… Klits is not Tim Bradley where he’s gonna try and snow the public he can just be violent without regard, of any HW wings a shot near his head Wlads gonna act like its mating season… Do you think we are dumb Tark?Posted October 11, 2013 9:41 am

If Wladimir fights a great fight against Pulev this fight will be forgotten… Ali was panned for weeks and months after some of his terrible fights. So was Mike Tyson. So was Larry Holmes. Now they’re all icons. Nobody remembers those stinker fights.
After Holmes brutalized a 38-year-old Ali, all was forgiven… How terrible to see this great man is such a pathetic state in a boxing ring. It was Joe Louis vs Ezzard Charles. People cried.
But whether you’re great, or you’re an unranked nobody, bad things are said if you fight a dreary fight and win ugly. Fans want to be entertained, first, last, and always. I enjoyed the fight. I don’t enjoy every fight. Wladimir did what he needed to to. Povetkin never gave up.Posted October 10, 2013 7:29 pm

From Robert Ecksel: “No one is criticizing Klitschko the man. Outside the ring he is everything a champion should be. But even Klitschko partisans, at least some Klitschko partisans, see the fight as the unaesthetic mess it was, not as evidence of his greatness, but symptomatic of his shortcomings.
What Wladimir did as an amateur is of no account. Neither is what he did in his previous 63 fights. As a one-off, the fight with Povetkin was an appallingly inadequate demonstration of the sweet science, helped in no small part by referee Luis Pabon, who refused to enforce the rules and as a result let the champ get away with murder.”

klit vs povetkin, biggest joke fight in hw history.Posted October 10, 2013 2:27 pm
TARK — I agree! Virtually every great fighter has a stinker or two (or more) on their dance card. So why all the push-back in recognizing the truth — that this fight for Wlad was a stinker? It was PATHETIC! If it represented the best boxing had to offer the sport would be dead inside 6 months!
Wlad is likely past his prime. Even past his prime he’s difficult to impossible to beat — especially if refs are going to let him fight out the balance of his career draped on an opponent’s back after EVERY punch. Stinkers on the west side of a boxer’s career can point to the possibility of more stinkers to come. The Hopkins/Wright stinker certainly told us that Wright was done.
Wlad was handed a gift by the ref in being allowed to fight the fight he fought. It was pathetic. Again, Povetkin played his role in the stinker, but I bet we just saw the beginning of the end for Wlad.Posted October 10, 2013 2:23 pm
Let’s tell the truth Old Yank… Every heavyweight has stinky fights. If he has 24 title fights he’s going to have some he would like to forget. Sandy Kofax got blown off the mound on occasion… Super stars have off nights too.
Mike Tyson’s fight with James Smith set a record for boredom… His Ruddock II and Tony Tucker fights were slow action. Nothing going on.
Lennox Lewis’s fights with Tony Tucker and Zel Mavrovic weren’t happening.
Evander Holyfield’s fights with Vaughn Bean and Chris Byrd sucked fleas.
Ali’s fights with Alfredo Evangelista and Mac Foster were beyond tedious.
Frazier’s fights with George Johnson and Floyd Cummings stunk out loud.
Wladimir scored 4 knockdowns, a couple throw-downs, and some Olympian caliber pushes. He uncorked some leaping left hooks. He tried hard to get the KO. That wasn’t always true of Mike, Lennox, Evander, Ali, and Joe.Posted October 10, 2013 2:06 pm

Wlad did the right thing!!
He is great and so is Obamacare period.Posted October 10, 2013 1:23 pm
K2Fan — From John E. Oden following the Iggy bout: “Wladimir himself was dissatisfied with his performance. He tracked down Steward in the wee hours of Sunday morning to express his disappointment in his own performance and express his regret that he didn’t move forward aggressively and bring his big right hand to bear on the situation when he had the chances to do so. Sitting in his hotel suite at 4am, Wladimir knew he could have done more and should have. He expressed to Emanuel that he should have taken the fight to Ibragimov and used more often his most potent weapon – his big right hand. He knew he had been too cautious, relying on a strategic cat-like dance that earned him a victory but not the respect he was looking for.”
Wlad does not see it as a stroke of genius that it takes two to tango but even he could still recognize that his tactics in the Iggy bout were disappointing. And it does not take a genius to recognize that his tactics against Povetkin proved boring and a disappointment as well – likely a personal disappointment and certainly a disappointment to many fans.Posted October 10, 2013 1:18 pm
Dan Rafael: “Referee Luis Pabon, who received heavy criticism for the way he handled Povetkin’s fight last year with Marco Huck, allowed Klitschko to drape himself all over Povetkin after almost every punch. No warnings or point deductions for repeated infractions that made the fight almost unwatchable.”Posted October 10, 2013 1:04 pm

Oh STFU!Posted October 10, 2013 12:58 pm
K2 Fan — Indeed it was a stinker on both fighters’ parts. But I can’t imagine a Primo Canera or a Jess Willard disappointing fans as much as Wlad did. Fans were disappointed in Wlad’s perfromance against Iggy too. Wlad’s trainer Emanuel Steward expressed his disappointment in Wlad’s performance after the bout. It did not make Steward a Klitschko hater; it made him truthful.
So you stumbled on your stroke of genius that two men are in the ring at the same time, so it take3s two to tango? Wow! Remind me to recomend you for Mensa membership!
Without question Povetkin contributed to Wlad looking like a wrestler and not like a heavyweight boxing champion. It does not change the reality that the botu stank and so too did Wlad’s performance. And if Manny were still alive he’d tell you the same damn thing — he would have been disappointed in Wlad’s performance.Posted October 10, 2013 12:56 pm

Egads a rematch? It was almost like Klitschko carried him, if he was forced to box instead of waltzing Povetkin wouldn’t have made it to the final bell. He showed me absolutely nothing. Once he got hit with that jab turned into a hook in the first round if Povetkin had any hopes they were done. Everyone wants to blame Klitschko for being boring, but after he hits the with a power shot, they either run or try to survive some other way, time after time it’s the same, thse beat up other contenders and when they get their shot they freeze and try to live to fight another day, why do we blame klitschko?Posted October 10, 2013 10:22 am

The fact that he could have won anyway makes it even worse. Just because Hopkins is a dirty fighter doesn’t make it ok for Wk. furthermore Wk crossed a line he didn’t just tie up after landing shots he used the grab lean on tie up as an offensive weapon along with stiff arm pushing elbowing of rearming hitting and holding. Wladimir Klitschko defeated Alexander Povetkin big time on the scorecards with a unanimus victory of 119-109 and had Povetkin knocked down 4 times so Wladimir won on th paper a clear victory. BUT like we all saw that night, it was not in an impressive way. All that clinching and hanging over Povetkin just made the audience booing and critics and boxing fans along with several recognised fighters view tell that the fight was DULL or BORING. This was not a world championship class fight and the only fighter who at least did his best was the challanger Povetkin. Wladimir just did not knew how to box Povetkin or he just made it very easyh for himself BUT if the fight had had a better ring referee, Klitschko would have been first warned, then point reducted and finaly Discqalified if not doing something about it but the poor referee just let him continue to clinch all fight long. I have never seen so much clinching in a world title fight. I say that Alexander Povetkin deserves a rematch becouse that fight did not give anny fighter any justice as Povetkin could not do the very best and Wladimir dident fought as a champion with his long ring expearence. Lets make a 2nd fight to finnish this once and for all. Its nothing more that right.Posted October 10, 2013 6:26 am

Holding or actually leaning was Wlad’s only recourse other than knock Povetkin out and that was not an option considering RTL had put a lot of money in to airing this thing. Alexsander can hold his head high only because Wlad did not want to destroy this Russian and his fans all in one night. Wlad is light years ahead of the competition, this fight clearly shows this to be true once again.Posted October 10, 2013 6:13 am

Another anti-Klitschko artice by a “sour grapes” author. If the referee had stopped some of Vlad’s clinching, it would have been illegal, Lewis did it all the time, watch Lewis/Tua, etc. Ali clinched a lot and it goes on. The author had no problems with Lewis, Ali or any other heavyweight who clinches, but I hate to tell the author the truth, if the referee had stopped Vlad from clinching, Vlad would have knocked Povetkin out. Vlad did not knock Povetkin down in the second round with a clinch, it was a hook-off-the jab, clean knock down. Vlad later knocked Povetkin down 3 times in one round by fighting on the inside! What lies will the author use when Vlad knocks Povetkin out in a rematch?! The author appears to think that Wilder has fought nothing but top contenders?! I suggest the author check out all of Wilder’s opponents. Will Wilder fight a rematch with Sconiers for the WBC title after Vitali retires?! Probably. Wilder is ranked #3 by the WBC, #6 by the WBA and #12 by the IBF. How did Wilder get ranked that high without fighting anyone ranked? By the way, the author does not like the fact that Vlad outclassed Wilder in sparring for the Wach fight. Vlad knocked Wilder down with a jab! LOL! The author will be frustrated for a long time…………his name should be changed to Sour Grapes!
Wonder if the author will start a petition to take away Vlad’s gold medal?! And all his pro champships, after Vlad beating the WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO champions and receiving the Ring champsion?Posted October 10, 2013 1:38 am

UJelly- Perfectly stated. Hopkins in his heyday at 160 would hold on the inside, but he would also beat the crap out of you while he was at it. Wlad just held, and held, and pushed the kid around like a rag doll. And Povetkin just let the deed go unpunished all night long. Anyone who points out Ali doing the same to Frazier should remember they’re talking about perhaps the greatest fight in HW history, and they’re such because Frazier didn’t just fold to Ali’s holding, he came in swinging, used elbows, jumped head first, did whatever it took.Posted October 9, 2013 11:18 pm

@K2 Fan – “and like Pov did not try all night long to smell Wlad’s armpit”
I get your point, but it’s dodging the issue (and based on your name, I can see you’re not exactly a neutral party). Povetkin had to get in close and make it an in fight. Fighting at extremely close quarters is completely within the rules of boxing and it’s bread and butter for many, many fighters (and for a shorter fighter, it’s the only way you’re ever going to land on someone of Wlad’s size).
Take Mayweather for example. Fighters constantly try to fight on his chest, but how often do you say Mayweather clinch? He defends, counters and maneuvers his way out, which is what you’re supposed to do if you prefer to make the fight at range.
Klitschko has no excuse for clinching (neither does any other fighter), it’s that simple. If Povetkin is able to close the distance, then too bad for Wlad. It becomes up to Klitschko to either learn how to infight, or use his feet to maneuver out (and let’s face it, he definitely has the footspeed to do it). Wlad’s clinching is a downright, dirty spoiler tactic… it literally nullifies any much shorter fighter’s offense (i.e. their only chance to land is on the inside) and is AGAINST THE RULES.
Speaking of which, I don’t generally support dirty fighting… but if a ref doesn’t do anything about the clinching, then the opponent has to make the clinching uncomfortable for the hugger. Sneaky headbutts, low blows, rumbling/tripping, etc. If a ref isn’t protecting you, then even the fight yourself.
Tim Bradley did an AWESOME job of that against Devon Alexander and it shook Alexander to the core (to the point he literally cried his way out of the fight)… Bradley just kept on trying to wing big punches even when Alexander was grabbing onto him, meaning Bradley’s body was tossing erratically all over the place whilst Alexander tried to hold, obviously leading to headbutts. As I say, normally I hate headbutters, but in this case, Alexander deserved every bit of it for trying to cheat his way to a victory.
Overall, not all of us are outright “Wlad haters”. He’s an exceptionally talented athlete, and it’s for precisely that reason that it’s so frustrating to see him cheat like this. He doesn’t need to do it.

There are many differences between Wlad and Tyson. Taking away that Wlad is a million times better, Wlad has beaten everybody in the division. Tyson gave Lewis 5 million step a side money, refused to fight Boew much like Floyd refused to fight Manny. Who has Wlad refused to fight. He has beaten everybody. Also Wlad will be able to speak when he retires in any language you wish as Tyson can barley string 4 words of English together.Posted October 9, 2013 5:55 pm
My god this fight sucked. I will not suffer through a stinking rematch. WK is an awful champ. I know he’s fighting in a weak division, but so did Tyson. Difference is, Tyson finished his bums off early and brutally. WK has the power to do this too, but instead he fights like a b*tch. He’s even awful when he fights dirty, and I don’t mind dirty fighters. He needs to retire because his borig @ss is killing the Hw division.Posted October 9, 2013 5:50 pm
The fight was not pretty but everyone had the same score.. 119-104..
In the long history of the Heavyweight Division nobody has ever won a major 12 round fight by 15 points before.
If you want a prettier fight, Wladimir’s fights with Mariuze Wach… Ray Austin… Calvin Brock… Eddie Chambers… Sam Peter II… Derrick Jefferson… Chris Byrd I and II… Tony Thompson I… Danell Nicolson… Jameel McCline… Ray Mercer… and Eliseo Castillo… They should fulfill your wish … On 2nd thought, strike the Jameel McCline fight
Another ugly WK fight you might like is Sultan Ibragimov. That makes 2 ugly fights out of 64 total.
If you want to watch an ugly Ali fight there are many to choose from: Rudi Lubbers… Joe Frazier II… Leon Spinks II… Mac Foster… Jimmy Young… Buster Marthis Jr… and Joe Bugner I and II… Those are my favorites. If you’re not sleepy enough—those Ali fights will get you to nod off in a hurry.
If you’re really wide awake and want to sleep … try Hagler-Duran.Posted October 9, 2013 5:50 pm
People who are agrue n for a rematch are not haters, at least not in my case, im a huge klitschko fan and have defended him many times in the past, and klitschko won the fight but there are a few very valid reasons a rematch is in order and those facts have been layed out. I really could careless if it happens to be honest so im done chat n about it. Last, if doing what is honerable the boxing community would demand better of our champions and our refs, but hey guys like money mayweather has made it clear boxing is a bussines first and a sport second, thats says it all pretty much, nuf said.Posted October 9, 2013 5:49 pm
Since when is bending at the waist illegal ? Who even knows what povk.. would have done after he bent down because klit… was on him each time he came in, maybe he was trying to get on the inside ? Everybody knows a shorter fighter with shorter reach has zero chance of boxing klit.. at long range, its almost impossible to beat klitschko trying to box him on the outside if your giving up to much.Posted October 9, 2013 5:39 pm
People need to examine Povetkin’s tactics as well. Much like the Huck fight, he charges in, head lowered, and bends down at any sign of a punch coming his way. Watch many of the “clinches” by Klitschko, and you will see that many times he held both arms out freely while Povetkin’s head was in his armpit. Povetkin had many chances to throw body shots, but didn’t or couldn’t. Mike Tyson could have thrown some serious body shots in those situations. Povetkin’s rush in, head low style contributed to much of what went on.Posted October 9, 2013 4:34 pm

Redwood nothing like twisting the blame, povk… rushed in so klit… at no blame for holding 600 times and throwing povk to the canvas 3 or four times. Im not suprised to be honest. I mean look at the twisting and changing the subject and making statements like who’s going to pay klit… 17 million again for him to have a rematch( sedmen) lol thats a non issue, klit… lucky he got 17 million in the first place, everybody knows he wont get that again so why even say it, because he cant stick to the facts and has no agrument thats why. If klit.. or povk… got a broken hand or jaw and decided to keep fighting to the final bell is the fighters choice, it can effect the out come, maybe win maybe loose, thats part of the game, but a ref that allows a fighter to foul and cheat the whole fight is not a part of the game thats why theres so much buzz around this fight, but somehow those that have cryed like little b! Tches have all of a sudden changed their tune on for the sake of a weak argument.Posted October 9, 2013 4:06 pm

As horrible as Klitschko was, Povetkin deserves A TON of blame for how awful the fight was. He was constantly bullrushing in with his head lowered, usually not even while throwing any punches!!! Klitschko should have tried firing uppercuts at the onrushing Povetkin, but in lieu of that, his grabbing and holding was about the best way to deal with Povetkin’s awful tactics. And anyone who saw Povetkin vs Huck knows Povetkin did the EXACT SAME THING in that fight as well, even though Huck was the MUCH smaller man!!! Bottom line, the Klitschko vs Povetkin fight was more a referendum on Povetkin’s tactics than Klitschko’s, and based on that, Povetkin does NOT deserves a rematch!!!Posted October 9, 2013 3:46 pm
David Price? People got toocarried away with him beating old used-up boxers like Matt Skelton and no-hopers llike Audley. If Fury can manage a win over Haye, a Wlad fight might be interesting. As a fighter myself, i know how incredibly tiring it is when a big man pulls your head down and leans on you – its amazing that povetkin went the distance – its a real testament to his own physical strength and conditioning – id like to see a rematch, cos obviously povetkin wont allow that to happen againPosted October 9, 2013 1:27 pm

God no one wants to see a rematch. No one!!! Nothing will change. What we want to see is wlad fight a good tall man. He has only fought 1 guys taller than him in all of his 64 pro fights and than was against a man with the mobility of a statue. How would wlad do against an athletic skilled heavy who can punch and can reach him??? That is the fight we want to see. David Price got exposed. Wilder is a joke at this stage. Fury is the only good tall heavy right now. Wlad still has the advantage but it would be an action packed fight where wlad will be forced to fight, not jab grab grab.Posted October 9, 2013 1:10 pm
David Haye will do better if he fights Wladimir again. With the broken foot David really couldn’t rip the right hand like he wanted. The man is lightning fast, super compact and strong for his weight, and is a great puncher. The Fury fight will give Haye a tremendous tuneup with a super big and tall mauler and brawler. By the time Haye gets Wladimir again Wlad will be 38. An age at which a lot of ATG Heavyweight Champions failed.
I see the unbeaten Kubrat Pulev giving Wladimir a strong challenge in what I believe will be Wladimir’s next fight. Pulev is very tall, very tough, and has a terrific punishing jab. Pulev has a long tight left hook which is a deceptive weapon. He flattened 305-pound Ustinov with it. Pulev goes 250 himself … and he takes a great punch.
If Fury manages to upset Haye, he’ll be a formidable opponent for Wladimir. Fury’s height, weight, and reach would be unprecentend for any Heavyweight Champion who can box and move. One thing Steve USS Cunningham has pointed out, “Fury has a tremendous inside game and body attack. Wladimir has never seen that from a big man.”
Deontay Wilder is a smashing puncher everybody fears. He can tear your head right off. He can’t get contenders like Arreola and Jennings into a ring with him. David Haye talked about Wilder’s “serious punching power.” Wilder definitely needs to corral a couple of top contenders who can give him 10 or 12 rounds of hard competition to round out his game, and test his endurance… So the strategy may be to have Deontay ready in 2 years … after Wladimir fights Pulev, Haye, and Fury.
Wladimir’s toughest and most talented opponents are lining up for him. He he takes care of these 4 guys at his age … that would definitely be unbelievable. He’ll go down as an ATG whether he accomplishes this or not … Most likely one of these guys will beat him.Posted October 9, 2013 12:57 pm
Boring fight, the result was a wash-out loss for Povetkin, no rematch. He should’ve pressed the attack all 12 rounds then maybe someone would listen.Posted October 9, 2013 12:55 pm

Same thing will happen again. They would need a ref not scared to enforce the rules and if Povetkin still decides not to go to the body like he could of so many times in the first fight then he loses again. No need for a rematch. Same thing will happenPosted October 9, 2013 12:24 pm
Possible Wlad fights in the near future. Pulev is the main one for me. After that if Fury beats Haye I will like him to get knocked out next. Arreola if Wlad want to fight in America. I would never give Haye a rematch. He does not deserve it and if he wants it he will have to beat Fury, Pov and another top 10 guy. Maybe the guy who is waiting for Vitali. After that I can’t see anybody else in the mix just now.Posted October 9, 2013 12:16 pm

The ref allowed klitschko to cheat foul the entire fight, just based on that alone is good reason to have ea rematch in a diffrent venue with a fair and a fair and honest fer that inforces the rules, at least povk… thinks so. Look there is no doubt if wald wss not allowed to hump povk… face all nite the fight would have been a much diffrent fight, I dont know about the final outcome but the fight its self would have maybe even been fun to watch, klit… would have had to fight and povk would have been able to fight, neither happened in this fight because the ref not inforcing the rules and clincko cheating all nite. It would have bedn a completly diffrent fight otherwise and you cant argue at least that point.Posted October 9, 2013 12:06 pm

Please, no rematch. Not now, not ever. That fiasco was painful to watch. If I ever need to see a Russian statue, I’ll go to Red Square. No need to look at Clit-schko. If that big girl is so scared to get hit, maybe he could take up figure skating.Posted October 9, 2013 11:59 am
There is 000000 BASIS for a rematch you guys don’t know boxing… That was a LOPSIDED fight even stripping away Klitschkos terrible tactics and spoiling… Rematches are for CLOSE fights, ACTION fights (Gatti/Ward) (Corrales/Castillo) or BAD controversies… Every loss does NOT warrant a redo… Povetkin showed that he is World Class but he and Wlad produced a TRAGIC outing where despite Wlads choices Povetkin found no appropriate response… That said this is OLD business and hopefully these articles about the DEAD HW division dry up for awhile…Posted October 9, 2013 11:58 am
The ref allowed wald… to cheat the whole fight so in terms of justice for povk… alone that warrents a rematch. The fans should be alowed to witness a fight that has a ref that inforces the rules, which would have made the fight more fan friendly. If the ref would have put a stop to wald… cheating and fouling and stinking up the fight that means klitschklnwould have had tonfight other than hump povks face all nite and povk… when have bedn able to get his offence going, which would have produced a diffrent fight all togather. You cant agrue that if the ref did his job the fight would have been much diffrent and if you agrue that point well you just talking out your hind end.Posted October 9, 2013 11:57 am
Wlad Klits is NOT gonna get another DUMB promoter to pay him 17 million in order to see him snooze all over another shorter fighters back…That guy must be kicking himself for thinking he was gonna see some really good boxing and action…The bottom of the barrel HW division just had one of the MOST if NOT the most discussed matchups in YEARS and look what happened? Same with Wlad and Haye!!! if Wlads in the ring with a guy who might get some hard leather on him you can bet he is gonna do anything to make it a dull fight… The man has to be penalized in the public eye because he is the BIGGER man by plenty!! if you see Goliath running from David you are gonna be much more DISGUSTED than vice versa….The only guy thats gonna make a good fight with Wlad is a real talent with some decent size or killer heart (scarce to non-existent) at HW…. You fools watch these contenders beat WEAK comp, NOT face eachother then they do this MASSIVE step up in class to fight Klitschko and lose badly… Its about one of these guys becoming a MONSTER below the Klit level then getting in the ring…Posted October 9, 2013 11:55 am
The irony is I think with a ref that warns strictly and takes points off for holding I see Povetkin getting knocked out. It is obvious Wladimir has great affection for Povetkin and very much wanted to see him make it to the final bell and for Povetkin to be standing in front of his fellow country men at the end. With 30 seconds left in the 12th Povetkin’s hands are down and he is angled to Wlads right side completely open for a massive right hook by Wladimir, Wladimir eyes light up but than he kindly takes mercy and does not throw the punch. Wladimir will never be mean or as folks in UK or USA might say have “a killer instict.” Lennox Lewis was right Wladmir very much wanted Povetkin to go the distance.Posted October 9, 2013 11:54 am
What some posters on her dont understand is the ref let klitscko foul the whole fight, just that alone is good reason for a rematch as far as povk… is concerend. What many fans and povk… supporters wonder is what would the true outcome be if infact klitschko wasent alowed to cheat the entire match. Some people see life thru a pipe, who knows maybe if klitschko diidnt clinch every 3 seconds and povk.. was alowed to fight and wlad… was forced to fight then maybe it would have been a pretty good fight, with a ko. If the ref did his job right theres no way anyone can say the fight would not have been a lot diffrdnt than what we witnessed, and if you do your just tryn to be agrumentive which warrents no comment.Posted October 9, 2013 11:48 am
I am sure Pov can improve if there was a rematch. I also believe Wlad would improve a lot also and blast him out within 3-4 rounds. Pov needs to fight and beat a top ten guy first and have his people give Wlad another 17 million and maybe he will get his wish. But I am not sure if he really wants a rematch. It was totally one sided and he lost every single round and was put down 4 times. Maybe they should let him have 2 tag team partners for the fight and they might have a slight chance to win the odd round.Posted October 9, 2013 11:46 am
Povetkin he deserves one. With a proper Ref. This could be a great match if the Holding is brought down to nothing but normal clinching.Posted October 9, 2013 11:34 am
The writer of this article brings up two names I also would like to see challenge the champion, Wilder and Fury. These young men are big strong and full of confidence. Smaller men like Povetkin can not get passed Wladimir’s jab and when they come barreling in they are not properly balanced to go to the body or land an uppper cut. The result are these akward looking clinches. Wilder and Fury could meet Wlad on his own terms and fight from the outside. Tony “Tiger” Thompson was able to do this and though he was not victorious in his first fight with the champion he gave Wladimir the closese thing Wlad has had to a challenge in years. I certainly do not put Fury or Wilder in Thompson’s skill cagetory but they are young and eager and physically match up to the champion Klitschko.Posted October 9, 2013 11:29 am

is there any top10-HW with some decent lateral movement? bowing is not lateral imho. Wlad didn’t look so fast in comparison to Povetkin, only Povetkin was always going straight into the fencepost.Posted October 9, 2013 10:55 am
They don’t need a rematch inspite of his TRAGIC display its abundantly clear that Povetkin while World Class is not in Klitschkos league.. If he was gonna show some balls he should have slammed an elbow into Wlads face or bit his scrotum… Had Klits tried that with Holyfield or even Chisora he would have ended up in a Street Fight that he is ILL equipped to deal with… Time for Povetkin to go back to beating on the dregs in the HW division…Posted October 9, 2013 10:52 am
The thought of these two in the ring again is giving me an anxiety attack! Wlad produced ANOTHER stinker that really does NOT prompt us to risk seeing the sport debased again vs Povetkin… I think we are gonna see MORE of this from Klits, he is getting older and the guy is steadily padding his resume and racking up some interesting “Stats”… Its not in his nature to risk a good fight and possibly have that FAR less than granite chin exposed to the dangers of a legit HW punch… I don’t advocate guys taking undue punishment but Klitschko the other night basically rewrote the rules of the game and did everything but put a saddle on Povetkins back and a BIT in his mouth in order not to get punched in the face… SAD state of affairs…Posted October 9, 2013 10:46 am
When I was watching the fight thats what I was thinking, klit vs sultan but worse. Yes there should be a rematch because klit… cheated the whole fight and a rematch would only be fair to alexande. Im a fan and would like to see what the real outcome of the fight would be minus waldmir cheating the whole fight. All the huging and holding preventing alexander from getting off his shots and kept wald… from getting hit and getting hit is what ko s a guy and or wins a fight for his oppnet… if klitschko would have gotten a DQ, alexander would have won the fight, as far as im concerend alexander won. Im a klit fan and dont think klit.. shouldnt get more than his accomadations payed for and alexander get all the money generated for the bout. I want to see how Wlad would try to cope with Pulev who more or less uses the same strategy of grabbing and leaning. Also Pulev is not small at 6’4”1/2 and is heavier than Wlad so he won’t be thrown around like Wlad did with Povetkin…If Pulev cannot cope with Wlad I think that would mean that Wlad is darn invincible. Sorry, I like Fury but he is not in the same league – he is good at beating CWs.Posted October 9, 2013 10:12 am
A Wlad’s opponent syndrome, a rematch. Many boxers have tried and they always think they will do better in a rematch against Wlad. I have to add that the fight wasn’t a good one, too much holding down.
Can someone deny that the holding was excessive? Wlad is a very dominant fighter but definitely not too much fun to watch.Posted October 9, 2013 10:09 am
