It’s Me, Ernie

I agree with F/A, Molina has been in some barn-burners. Ishe never disappoints, every single one of his fights are sleepers, boring as can be…

Hmmmm, every fight I’ve seen Molina in has been down right ugly. He does cause problems for his opposition though. He could have gotten the nod over Williams and Lara. And he was doing a number on Kirkland, before the DQ. But really I wouldn’t say any of those fights were fun to watch, except maybe the Kirkland fight. But that one was ugly too. Molina reminds me of some sort of smothering octopus in the ring.

Kid Blast I think Molina is taking a bit too much criticism for Saturday’s fight. Obv that was a snorebore but it was more due to Smith. I’ve seen Molina in some pretty good action fights before.

Carlos EL PULPO MEJICANO Molina is worse then Amere Con when it comes to holding.. horrible..

MENDOZA Al’rrato and buenas noches from Puerto Rico! Peace!

EZE: Yes, Cotto needs to take advantage of the time he has left and cash in as much as he can to live old age in style. Mayweather is an exception right now in terms of age — but who knows — what the next two or three years will bring from him unless it turns out he will follow a little bit in the steps of Hopkins (now 50??) and still fight unitl 40. Good night from California.

MENDOZA I have to agree. And a fight between a still young and improving Canelo and Cotto would be an interesting matchup, certainly a mega money maker for both. But first and foremost, Cotto must get by Delvin Rodriguez in an impressive fashion next month. Miguel isn’t getting any younger, as time goes by he’s getting slower and his clock is ticking faster.

EZ-E: Cotto did give Mayweather a real fight compared to Guerrero or Canelo. Lots of time, people go around trying to diminish Cotto no matter what he does. With the other two, all kinds of excuses and rationales can be made and most people buy into that. In Cotto’s case, he can pick and choose who he wants to fight because like Mayweather, he has paid his dues. If later he chooses to fight Canelo, then so be it. The millions will definitely pour in for both of them due to their fanbase.

VERY MAD SCIENTIST Can’t you say anything without going off on the deep end with your constant attacks on other nationalities, races and other hate-filled comments. Most ALL boxing fans of ALL colors, races, creeds, national origins, economical brackets, religions, genders, diverse orientations and identities AGREE that Cotto put up a better fight against Floyd than Canelo did. Why don’t you just “Declare War” on EVERYBODY, not just Puerto Ricans/Cotto? Yes dude, don’t look now but YOUR SLIP IS SHOWING AGAIN!! And that was EXACTLY what Floyd PREDICTED would happen. That was practically what his father and uncle said as well. That doesn’t mean that Canelo isn’t a gifted and exceptionally talented fighter. And.. it doesn’t mean that he won’t be back, I believe he will. This time he fell short of YOUR expectations and you can’t seem to handle with some class so you make your needless slurs. Once again YOUR SLIP IS SHOWING in a feeble effort to gain cheap “moral victory”of your own to numb your pain at someone else’s expense. Canelo accepted his loss with true dignity. You??? hmmmm.. Get over it. Turn the page, let it go!!

WHAT!?!

Philly Shell you must of dozed off. Everyone thought Molina won. Smith just didn’t work hard enough.

Canelo to young and strong for the aging champ.

Not many Top guys want the IBF title because they strictly enforce their mandatories. GOOD luck on gett I ng Cotto or Canelo to take the Fight. They’d rather face each OTHER for the titles that Floyd is about to vacate….Canelo really needs to move UP to MW or SMW. That way he can stay around his Fight night weight.

I trick champ. Ishe Smith was HORRIBLE. Molina absolutely sucks.

Canelo and Cotto both beat Molina

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

Molina didn’t look to impressive that fight. Canelo would beat him silly.

EZ-E..I don’t dislike Cotto or any other fighter and Floyd says what he says all the time wich really doesn’t matter..I stand by what I said..its obvious you Rican’s are just reaching for some kind of moral victory just bringing up the whole our guy did much better than your guy bullcrap..can’t wait to see what the outcry will be if a Canel/Cotto fight gets made, you boys will be singing a diffrent tune for sure

RAYGORDONREID slow down. I won’t tell you again.

WHAT!?!

Molina was terrible, feather fisted and scrappy. Ishe Smith was a scared rabbit losing to Molina and not fighting to keep his title. Anyone who wants to be a World Champ for a day fight Molina, he will surely lose his first defence of that trinket.

RAY GORDON, I know you did Sheriff Ray, so did I. Neither one impressed me much but a WIN is a WIN. Congrats to Molina, who’s had to overcome a few injustices on his way to the top.

MAD SCIENCE Your ‘slip is showing’ a bit. The ONLY person your post is convincing is YOU & even you don’t believe it too much, if at all. FLoyd HIMSELF predicted that Canalo would be EASIER than Cotto and… he was!! Your “slip/dislike” for Cotto is obvious and affecting your better boxing senses.

Posted September 17, 2013 3:08 pm

The Mad Scientist

Some of you guys make me laugh with the whole Cotto did better against Mayweather than Canelo did..it was obvios that Floyd saw no real threat in Cotto and just fought the kind of fight that would please the crowd against him..Mayweather showed more respect for Guerrero than he did Cotto..the shots Canelo landed on Floyds arms, elbows, shoulders and body were much more damaging than the jabs Miguel landed on May’s face..you fools just make to much of a big deal over a bloody nose..

Posted September 17, 2013 2:57 pm

Well, what can we expect. He’s not destined to have an extended reign so he’s intelligently looking/campaigning for the BEST payday possible. AND.. he has something that Cotto & Canelo don’t, a WORLD title. No, I don’t think Cotto nor Canelo are overly interested in Molina. Actually, Canelo and Cotto are probably more interested in the MEGA $$$ they can make facing EACH OTHER.

I like Molina but really doubt either of these guys fight him. Not that they want to duck him, it’s because he’s just not a big enough name. He’ll need to bank some marquee wins then maybe.

Molina will get in another close fight, and the judges will give his opponent the benefit of the doubt, and the belt will be taken from him.

Offensively, Molina was very ineffective in his fight with Smith. His championship will be short-lived.

I actually like the sound of Canelo vs Molina, would give Canelo a title if he wins and he’ll gain more experience against someone who’s VERY awkward.

Posted September 17, 2013 12:33 pm

Done deal

Molina is reaching. I’m not impressed AT ALL with anything he does. Think he loses to both. Descent fight with Cotto cause of style, but will get destroyed by Canelo.

Posted September 17, 2013 12:18 pm

Hecdog

Molina has such an ugly style, but somehow it works for him. Canelo is much more gifted, but Molina would make it very difficult especially if Canelo’s stamina problems continue. He’s not a very busy fighter, and Molina would be in his face not allowing Canelo to counter him. Interesting match up.

Posted September 17, 2013 12:15 pm

Tomato Can

Too bad Molina doesn’t have a more appealing style. Neither fans of plodding brawlers or boxing purest care for Molina’s style. But he gives everyone he faces problems, I give him that…

Thank God I am a real fan and I noticed that the title was wrong, as the Carlos Molina in question is the one at Light-Middleweight. Real fans do not attempt to mock another one. Goodbye.

SREDMOND

Personally I think Canelo is a better all around boxer than GGG… Alvarez tried to counter Mayweather and was predictably too slow but his instincts were solid… Golovkin is about 1/5 the technician that Floyd is the only rationale in the minds of the anti-Mayweather faction is ths GGG is so Big and Strong he can overwhelm Mayweather with sheer size and power… I’m sure Chavez Jr weighing 180 the night of the bout would be dangerous if he landed on a guy who’s 150…. Would any fighter mistake Chavez Jr for being more skilled than Floyd? I’m sure some of you idiots would… This get Mayweather in with a bigger boxer was just tried by Canelo and failed… You had your shot. Now you are gonna have to watch him face WW’s and end off his career… GGG is a message board star he does not even have the fan base to make this remotely attractive…

Real fans know that there are two Carlos Molina’s–one at Light Welter and and one at Jr. Middleweight

Posted September 17, 2013 11:44 am

Public Enemy, everybody knows that Floyd picked Cotto way past his prime and then picked way inexperienced Canelo

but Canelo did beat Trout who beat Cotto.

You also know that the Carlos Molina that I was speaking of defeated both Kirkland and Lara but was robbed by Golden Boy.

Molina = ugliest fighter I’ve ever seen. Not talking about looks. His style is terrible. He should join MMA he likes to hold so much!

Posted September 17, 2013 11:31 am

Papo

Good observation from Brazilian Boxing Fan, Light-Welterweight is 140 pounds, not 154.

Public Enemy, I agree that Canelo and Cotto’s resume are not even closed. Cotto has taken on some tough opponents, while Canelo took the easy road to a title and a fight against Floyd. That’s one of the reasons he lost so convincingly.

Sure, at this stage of Cotto’s career he should be concentrating on his job as promoter rather than boxing, butif he decides to stay around and fight, a fight against Molina would be a good choice.

Posted September 17, 2013 11:27 am

The title is wrong. Molina is not the IBF World Light-Welterweight Champion, he is the IBF World Light-Middleweight Champion.

Posted September 17, 2013 11:14 am

JWHALEs – Please do not put Cotto and Canelo in the same sentence.. Cotto has fought Everyone AT the top of their Games.. Ducked NO ONE!! Canelo has ducked everyone.. Even an old, damaged Cotto gave Mayweather the toughtest fight of his Career.. Canelo gave Mayweather the Easiest.. even with a 15+lb weight Advantage.. Canelo is a step below Ishe Smith and Molina.. Cotto is a future Hall of Famer, Canelo is the most recent Hype Job to flop at their first attempt against a top fighter..

Posted September 17, 2013 11:08 am

Is this Carlos EL PULPO Molina who held on for dear life all night long against Kirkland? That fight should’ve been stopped and Molina tossed out of the Ring.. it was Laughable.. but then again Canelo would never face Kirkland.. but I can see Molina vs Canelo they’re about in the same league….

Posted September 17, 2013 11:01 am

JWales

Molina’s record is and/or should be vastly better than Canelo’s. I admit that he didnt look himself against the overly defensive Ishe Smith but Molina will probably beat Cotto or Canelo.

If Canelo beats Molina then we will get a hint at how good Canelo actually is

Posted September 17, 2013 10:51 am

OH DEAR…. MOLINA was involved in a Borefest with ISHE SMITH and now thinks he will get a seat at the top table.

He’ll have to take out ANGULO, LARA and KIRKLAND before he even gets a sniff!

Failing that, get a SUPERMODEL GIRLFRIEND and get his mug all over FACEBOOK and TWITTER….. Or get him a party-trick!!!

Molina punches like a girl. Canelo would slaughter him, Cotto would kayo him. He just wants a pay day.
