Conte may be right on some points but overall, he is not to be trusted. He says and does things to make him look smarter and better than he is. It keeps him in the spotlight (which he likes) and keeps him in business.

His twitter wars with Ariza and Heredia used to be amusing.

I think most pros in all sports do them they have to earn there money for us to watch we are not going to pay to see fat asses try to win any thing test all pros 6 times a year problem solved . But there would not be many pros the first year

I turned on the TV tonight and lo and behold, the same Jim Rome show was on again and double lo and behold I tuned in right in the middle of the Victor Conte segment. Sooo, I must correct myself again. Conte didn’t say “top-level” athletes were seeking him out for steroids, he said “high-profile athletes were. Then when Rome asked who, Conte said, “some of the biggest names in boxing.”

I don’t think Conte is lying. If he is, I wonder who he has a vendetta against?

Conte was also considered the greatest bass player of his generation before he turned to the Dark Side. He knows how to use those fingers of his whether it be for the forces of good (playing rock music), or bad (the supplying of undetectable illegal PEDs to athletes).

Dr. Ross.. Yes I do. Ward purposely sought out the world’s most notorious supplier of illegal PEDs in sport’s history for that exact reason. Why do you think he won’t travel? Why is he so freakishly strong? Why is he such a whiny little hypocrite crybaby who can’t take an ounce of criticism? Why does he have such a poor me ain’t I hard done by victim mentality? He’s totally whore-moan-al all the time and it’s clearly because of those injections he’s getting in his batty. And I’m not talking about Virgil’s midnight ones either.

NO.., His athletes were nailed to the wall with PED tests that were better than Conte thought possible… They were banned and they said Conte was the culprit behind their problems.. The law found out he was a major trafficer and he went to prison.

Posted August 23, 2013 4:56 pm

Conte brings nothing but misery… Ward, Berto, Donaire, Chambers… All with shoulder problems shortly after Conte started working with them and needing surgery.

Chambers was an embarrassing bust in his last fight against a neophyte with 13 fights… Berto has lost 3 of his last 4 and may wash out… Donaire complained that he needed shoulder surgery after his last loss… Ward has been on the shelf for a year.

None of these guys wanted PEDs… They fell for Conte’s story of redemption and 2nd chances … and his wonderful all-natural supplements.

It’s the same game VC played before he went to prison. He told his athletes he was giving them legal stuff approved for Olympic athletes. He’s a great talker. He could sell snow to an Eskimo.

Posted August 23, 2013 4:52 pm

Tark, you asked why if Conte was so smart did he go to prison? Didn’t Hereida rat him and others out in order to gain amnesty?

Do I believe Conte? Well, watching his face during the interview I think he was lying about the dealings he had with A-Rod. As for claiming that top boxers have since come to him for steroids–why would he make that up?

But no, I don’t know what to think of him. I sure don’t believe he lies about everything. But why would any athlete be seeking him out secretly–like A-Rod did–if there’s nothing to hide?

Conte also said he believes that around 50% of all MLB players are taking PEDs. He said that the main reason for this is that the players hear of someone else taking PEDs and they don’t want them to have the one-up on them, so they seek out PEDs too so they can play at the same level. There’s a brain-twister for ya.

Anyways, A-Rod went to Conte and other players as well. So I don’t see why it’s so unrealistic to think that top level boxers were seeking him out as well, for steroids, even after he went to jail and claims he doesn’t deal “on the dark side” anymore.

It’s all about the perception of fairness. It’s why they decided to start checking hand-wraps and gloves.

You have to be good gentleman while killing each other.

BETTING is also a factor.

Posted August 23, 2013 1:57 pm

I could understand why JMM sought out Heredia: Heredia is good with PEDS, sure, but he still has the knowledge of training a modern athlete even naturally. After all, you can take PEDs but they don’t make the athlete; they are only a boost.
What does Conte bring to the table?

Gonzo the Dragonborn

You think Donaire, Ward, and others sought out Conte to gain access to undetectable Performance Enhancing Drugs even after Conte was supposedly done with that part of the sporting world?

Or do you think it was Conte’s name that made it easier for them to go to him even though he is promoting himself as a clean adviser now?

Both should have avoided Conte because Conte isn’t the brains behind anything. This is also what Ariza and Heredia shred him about when he {Conte} goes after them on twitter: Where’s the degree? Where’s the brilliance? It was all the scientists that came up with Conte’s formula’s. So basically, if you are going to do it right, go with Heredia (who is claiming “clean” and maybe is now) than someone like Conte.

Conte was pumping him full of the clean, natural stuff but then Ward pulled him aside one day and specifically requested that he give him some of the dirty stuff on the sly.

SOG definitely sought out Conte for his illegal PEDs though.

A leopard can change the spots it hunts or dwells in. So the answer to that would be yes a leopard can change its spots.

I think a better question would be: Can Tark change his diaper unassisted?

Posted August 23, 2013 1:16 pm

I don’t believe that a number of the world’s top boxers went to Conte asking for PEDs… Conte has tons of contacts and has told top boxers like Ward, Berto, Chambers, and Donaire, that everything he gives them is natural, pure, and fabulous nutrition … I don’t believe him.

Can a leopard change it’s spots?

Conte really has his gab down. Many athletes only found out later that Conte was deceiving them about giving them “all natural” products and actually giving them illegal steroids. The first they knew about it was when their tests turned up positive. They were then banned and not allowed to compete so Conte destroyed them.

Conte believes boxers are less educated and more naïve than any other athletes. Boxing is a fertile ground for him becaue he can sucker them easier with his BS … even though he has a horrid history.

Conte also claimed many times that PED tests are “easy” to beat.

If that is true… why were his athletes caught and why did he go to prison???

Hidalgo.., Don’t believe a word Conte says to anyone.

He’s the slickest and cleverest liar and con artist who ever existed… If he says he doesn’t deal in PEDs anymore … are you going to believe him???

What’s your conversation about with Conte exactly?

Posted August 23, 2013 12:16 pm

a fighter is in the weight class that he weighs in at…no more no less

Posted August 23, 2013 12:07 pm

Excuse me Tark, I believe Conte’s exact words were “top-level boxers.”

Posted August 23, 2013 11:11 am

Tark, I don’t know if you watch the Jim Rome Show on Showtime but I watched it last night. Jim had Victor Conte on. They mostly discussed Conte’s involvement with A-Rod regarding A-Rod’s PED scandal. Near the end of the interview Rome asked Conte if any other top athletes, other than A-Rod, had come to him inquiring about PEDs, since he started his nutrition business. Conte said yes. “Lots of top athletes.” Rome asked “like who?” Conte said he wouldn’t give any names but that a number of “top boxers in the world today” have come to him to see if he could help them get PEDs. Conte claims he told all of them he doesn’t deal on “the dark side” anymore.

Anyways, I thought it was very interesting. I wonder who those boxers were? And where did they go since Conte wouldn’t help them?

When Mayweather leans and uses that shoulder roll, Canelo should punch that elbow to bring down his arm and then a straight.

big daddy, this is a boxing forum not a g ay forum.

Posted August 23, 2013 2:48 am

Canelo doesn’t have to catch Floyd early to stop him..

Cotto studied Floyd during their fight and pulled some tricks on him in the mid rounds.. Cotto was 165, and has a slick powerful jab that was working, but he’s not really strong like Canelo. Trout was able to bully Cotto with his size. Floyd wasn’t able to bully Cotto, but he sure tried. He finally rocked Cotto with a left uppercut in the 12th. Floyd fought his ass off versus Cotto, and was much more impressive than his sparring session with Oscar.

Canelo studies you more than Cotto.. He’s a thinker.. He’s not like GGG who puts everything you do to work — but he studies how you react to every punch and every feint.. He’s a little bit like Mayweather in the way he sets you up.. Boxing Mosley he never once went for the kill.. Saul was controlling the action conclusively and getting good rounds in—so KO’s are not something he needs for his ego.. He wants to win the round. He wants to put tons of rounds in the bank, and win the fight.

I think in this fight Saul may try for the KO.

Floyd’s prestige as the GOAT is so strong that judges might be hypnotized—so you can’t take a chance. He’s seen Floyd on rubber legs versus Mosley. He’s studied the Judah fight where Floyd was perplexed early on by sundry slick southpaw tricks. In the Cotto fight Floyd’s chin looked really strong, but Miguel doesn’t blast people out, and neither does Floyd at this level.

Floyd got hit real good but Cotto never went for the finish. Cotto thought he was winning. His corner was in Zu Zu Land. Canelo’s corner is more objective, and he has a better idea of what the judges might be thinking. If he thinks he might be behind he’ll go for the kill in the championship rounds … or if he gets Floyd hurt earlier he’ll try to end it.

Canelo is not worried about punching himself out.. If he expends a ton of energy trying to KO Floyd—he’ll take 2 rounds off by boxing defensively … He can do that.

Posted August 23, 2013 12:28 am

canelo is strong but we have never seen anybody hit him in the body that will slow him down and keep that jab popping that’s what Floyd has to do cuz if Floyd try to exchange power shots he might get dropped cuz this kid has power

Posted August 23, 2013 12:18 am

hope c I agree but dlh cant teach him that cuz he didn’t do it but if he do cut the ring off he will have a better chance and make Floyd box more

Posted August 23, 2013 12:14 am

he just talking and don’t know the facts but I understand he is a canelo fan so ppl tend to say things to try to make there fighter look good even if they don’t make sense

Posted August 23, 2013 12:08 am

Hope C.

Canelo has a bigger chance of winning if Hoya teaches him how to cut the ring, to not let him run around the ring and to attack him in the body.

other than that, I do not understand why some fans love to talk about how much Floyd is making like it is a victory for them. The more you love him, like a certain women, she’ll make you do what she wants and when she has had enough of you and the cash runs out, so will she.

big daddy:

Who has Floyd forced up in weight or as you say, “Bloat”?

JMM, YES, I will give you that. I can’t believe Pac did the same.

Who else? Hatton. YES, Hatton fought Floyd at WW. However, Hatton refused at least two times at 140 to fight Floyd. And at WW, it isn’t a big deal when you consider Floyd’s fight-time weight around that time was 145+…just like many other JrWW. Actually, fighters below that are 145.

Floyd was 150 on fight-night against Ortiz. Ortiz was 164. That was the last time I recall Floyd being weighed by HBO on fight-night.

Floyd has routinely been out-weighed for his fights.

Before you spout nonsense, how much is mayweather giving you out of all the money he makes??? Why would you care if he makes that much money. Enjoy the fight and that’s all you can ask for. And about canelo fighting in his own weight? Can you name me one fighter besides oscar dela hoya where mayweather didn’t bloat the fighters he faught???? Please just one. Hell, he couldn’t even make weight with marquez and please tell me why he doesn’t he get on the scales on fight nigbt and don’t tell me its unofficial.

The fact of the matter about this fight is he doesn’t hav the edge over canelo on canelo coming in overbloated with water. Canelo is coming heavier if that, but it is the first legitimate threat that mayweather is facing and he is doing it at a much older age. I have canelo winning by knockout in the third round!!!!!

Posted August 22, 2013 10:21 pm

Floyd is a boxing star like it or not he is the highest paid not only in boxing but in all sports and have the biggest ppv ratings and when his name come across eb he have well over 300 comments some don’t like him I get that but u have to give him props he is saving boxing right now

Posted August 22, 2013 10:08 pm

Mayweather is not really a Boxing superstar, not really, not compared to the past superstars of Boxing, never fought the best when he should have fought them and avoided Pacquiao, that’s the truth when olook at it.

Posted August 22, 2013 10:00 pm

that’s what I say to Floyd later on will get him down and out box him all nite well 8 of 12 rounds going to Floyd. canelo should fight his weight class. yeah he look good with small guys this one my coast him cuz Floyd is in good shape pluse he don’t have to struggle to loose the weight

Posted August 22, 2013 9:59 pm

yeah me neither. he just really never fought a good fight and when he did trout it could have gone either way he had trouble and Floyd is no trout dlh just want Floyd to loose so bad that he got this big 170 kid to try to do it

Posted August 22, 2013 9:55 pm

Alvarez has a good chance early on if he can catch Mayweather with something big before Mayweather gets Alvarez’s timing down. Other than that it seems that Mayweather will just out box Alvarez.

Posted August 22, 2013 9:54 pm

This fight should be one-sided. I am not impressed by Alvarez.
