Floyd should do commentating for the NBA. He loves basketball and he’d probably be good at it. If he does do commentating for boxing I think it’ll be a short stint as a color man. I don’t see him even coming close to the likes of George Foreman, Lennox Lewis, Roy Jones Jr., or Paulie Malignaggi. Even Ray ‘Boom Boom’ Mancini was great to listen to. Floyd might be good though. It might be a little bit of a conflict of interest though if he’s a boxing promoter though.

I doubt it would work out for hi. Why don’t they hire Mayweather’s uncle Roger to be a commenter?. Hahahahahahahahahaha,

Got to admit that FM is looking cool calm and collected. Smooth and no Smack and BS. He looks good.

Howard Cosell was the worst Boxing commentator ever. Worst ever…He used to drive me crazy with his non stop babble about everything but what was happening in the ring.

Yeah, let’s all just admit it right now: Floyd is just wonderful at everything he does. The man has no faults. He’s perfect. God has a rival.

Fish Eyes

Kellerman, Lederman and Lampley doing the commentary on the World Snooker Championship would be a laugh..

Max Kellerman looks and sounds a lot like how Hugh Laurie would look and sound after undertaking full brain removal surgery. Lederman sounds like a squeaking freak from Sesame Street…

The Truth Teller

I think Floyd would make a fine commentator… but I honestly feel that Andre Ward is the best commentator I have heard that is an active or retired fighter. I don’t know if money would be Floyd’s main concern if he were to commentate…. might just be a way for him to stay around the sport after he retires

Kellerman is insufferable. He makes Howard Cosell seem inoffensive.

“I would much, much, much more rather have his uncle Roger Mayweather do the commentating. I would pay to see that.” — Must-see TV there.

LOL. When has Floyd ever talked intelligently about boxing? Some are good at doing and bad at talking, like Floyd. Some are good at talking and bad at doing, like most college professors.

Gonzo the Dragonborn

Ward is even more boring outside the ring than he is in it, if that’s even possible. He has all the personality and charisma of a Belgian mannequin. The fact that he also bears an uncanny resemblance to a retarded dog doesn’t help matters either.

I don’t see the big deal on Ward’s commentatinug. Ward is more technically sound “boxer” than than Roy but Roy just saw things I don’t see with other fighters; not even Ward. It was weird how someone can be so brilliant in the hunt but not be a perfect technical boxer like Roy. but then again, the same can be said about Muhammad Ali.

JMM is incredible. Somebody on here was translating what JMM was saying in Spanish about fights and it was incredible information. Now JMM speaks English (much better) and he’ll give interviews on what he thinks and as always, his I.Q. shows its colors…Brilliance.

Nobody is always right because you just don’t know what the fighter may be doing for preparation or how he shows up that night…but the analysis is great.

I would be curious to see this and it would be GREAT if it was on HBO….LMAO….SUCK IT JIM AND MAD MAX…LOL

Wel will have to agree to disagree the . I like Wards commentary better than Roy’s.

Posted July 3, 2013 10:34 pm

Of course you`d give him a go, the guy is a boxing genius.

He also has a galactic ego though, and the commentary is supposed to be about the guys there not you.

You need a balance of commentators, I like Steward’s analysing and Foremans bombastic style. Foreman was simply wrong a hell of a lot of the time, especially when he got an idea stuck in his head, but he was entertaining in how he delivered.
I quite like Bernstein too – he is fair guy.

Kellerman is an agenda-monkey trying to imprint his narrative over everything.
Lederman is a mad squirrell on amphetamines who gives every round to the pressure fighter
Merchant is a dried up old mummy who isn`t even facing the ring half the time.

america is dead

if its for showtime i would mute the sound which i already have to do on hbo because of kellerman.

“Ward is a great commentator.” I don’t know about that Peej. He says “I agree with you” or “I agree with tha,t” a lot, when responding to Jim Lampley or Max Kellerman. He also often doesn’t elaborate on why he agrees. I think Ward is a fair analyst at best. Paulie is better but Paulie sometimes sees a fight through cloudy eyes I think. Roy Jones Jr. is excellent for the most part because he will correct Lampley et al, when they call a punch that didn’t connect or the wrong punch, etc. Lennox Lewis did a good job too.

Nice to see Canelo in his West Point garb.

Posted July 3, 2013 8:54 pm

The JAB is key to victory for Canelo, Cotto used it very effectively against Mayweather.

Posted July 3, 2013 8:39 pm

nobody knows how Floyd would be as a commentator. He would need to do it so we could actually see. Paulie in my opnion is a good commentator though the one time he kept saying wheel house was getting a little annoying to me. Ward is a great commentator. Jones has his good days and his off days and Foreman well what can I say. I loved him as a commentator. Some of the stuff he said had me rolling. Like when he said Mickey Wards hook was so good to the body becuase he believed in it.

Floyd is objective… He would make an excellent commentator with his knowledge of technique and the interplay of styles..

He wouldn’t color what’s going on with his preconceived notions about what will happen in the fight… He wouldn’t care if he’s right or wrong in giving his oppinion before the fight.. He cares about what’s actually happening before the viewers eyes … and getting THAT right..

Sometimes you listen to Lampley and Merchant and ask yourself, “What fight are these idiots watching?” A master boxer knows what’s happening, and won’t imagine something that he would like to see happen … and pretend the fight is going the way he wants it to go … or thought it would go.

The rating would drop quickly. Floyd says the same things over and over, and half the time makes no sense. He would go off on people as he did with his father, kids, mother of his children and security guards. Floyd Mayweather is a dysfunctional person that lets his money doing all the talking, and not his mouth. He’s boring as a fighter, can you imagine how boring he would be when he tries putting two or three words together. Please don’t put the audiences through this torture. I would much, much, much more rather have his uncle Roger Mayweather do the commentating. I would pay to see that.

Posted July 3, 2013 7:02 pm

Gee, don’t we really want some guy who never laced on a glove and basically is everything a fighter isn’t doing the announcing and or color commentary? You know, some obnoxious stuff shirt loud mouth who believes that he’s the only reason every match is being fought?
