Very interesting fight!

I wouldnt take to much credence in what any member of the Sauerland family has to say to be honest………..

agreed my man

Posted September 6, 2012 8:15 pm

SOG by UD… He’ll domniate down the stretch. Dawson often loses focus.

Posted September 6, 2012 4:54 pm

I bet on Dawson by tko, I will post from the Bahamas next week!

Posted September 6, 2012 4:36 pm

Don’t be surprised if you see ward hurt Dawson with the right hand. Ward knows he has to let his power shots go to get the respect of the bigger Dawson . I believe Dawson’s camp thinks ward doesn’t have the power but I disagree. Sept. 8 th he will show the world. Ward by decision

Fight Aficionado

“Round 1 will be slow and both fighters will try to make sense of each other’s rhythm and style. Not much will happen in this round…” – Rinse/repeat your scenario for 12 more rounds and you’ve got the full fight. Predicting Ward win is not very bold, most presumed that the minute this fight was announced.

Posted September 6, 2012 3:24 pm

Ward beats Dawson more often to the punch. Ward wins by points.

Joe Blass

Dronian never mind Tark. He’s a nobody always has been. Hopkins is way overated. He sucks. Anyone that has to use fight dirty is scum. Just watch youtube on the guy. Dirty as they come.

andre ward has been in a constant state of worry ever since he saw gennady golovin fight last weekend he can’t get his mind on dawson at all

Posted September 6, 2012 2:16 pm

I just saw a recent Sauerland statement, to a big danish newspaper: Kalle Sauerland states that Kessler have a fight coming up in Denmark, a fight against the winner of Ward vs Dawson in America and a fight against Froch, in Nottingham. I understand these things are a done deal. This is rather interesting to Kessler fans, but clearly I hope that Dawson wins, because that would be a great fight. Dawson against Kessler, not in Oakland. Interestingly enough, Kalle Sauerland implies that Ward will win against Dawson, he only mentions a Ward 2 fight. Ward is the heavy favorite.

andre ward is a somnambulist he can’t keep his eyes open just look at the jpeg

Posted September 6, 2012 2:13 pm

No freaking way Ward outclasses Dawson, no way. Everyone see’s what they see but I see a Dawson victory. Depending on what a fighter is going thru they can lose on any giving night. Ward is good with his personal life so it makes training that much easir-but when your going thru issues it can affect a boxer and why not their human like the rest of us. I just can’t see a focus Dawson losing to a focus Ward. I like Ward but there was never a time when I thought he was better than Dawson but hey-we’ll find out this Saturday wont we

Posted September 6, 2012 2:04 pm

I guess it is a question of attitude. Maybe I have to accept the Ward and Hopkins style. Ward does not get hit or hurt, even against big punchers. Compare to Kessler vs Andrade (Kesslers finest hour). Kessler throws movie like combos, whilst taking some punches. Kessler gets hit, not hurt.
To me Kessler vs Andrade is one of the greatest smw fights in recent years, I can’t come up with one Ward fight that excited me. The question -is boxing not about avoiding getting hit, a real sweet science? So why do I look forward to Bute vs Froch, so much more than W vs D? The argument about the color of your skin, influencing your likes, is weird, a throwaway argument.

Posted September 6, 2012 1:57 pm

I don’t see Ward-Dawson as a potentially boring fight… These guys aren’t punchers and they see every round as a separate contest. The KO is not the point—winning is the point. If the media asks if they expect a KO, why not say, “A KO is possible. I’m in the best shape of my life and don’t want to put it in the hands of the judges.” You want people to buy tickets so you imply a KO. But if you’re fighting guys who get stopped you’re not fighting the best or making the most money. Some guys knock everybody out, but they’re one in a billion. Being born with that kind of talent is like winning the lottery. That’s why trainers like Joel Diaz and Virgil Hunter say, “If a KO comes fine, but don’t look for it. Don’t think about it.” Harold Dade was a trainer who fought a lot of tough fights. He won all of them in the beginning, and lost all of them at the end after his chin was shot. He preached defense saying, “There are only 2 rules: Rule #1, don’t get hit—Rule #2, don’t forget rule #1.”

Posted September 6, 2012 12:39 pm

@ Mitchell…. It doesn’t matter what color you are, you’re opinion sucks doorknobs.. Hopkins is one of the greatest, most successful, and most respected boxers of all time … and there’s not a damned thing you can do about it.

Posted September 6, 2012 12:34 pm

White men are denieing Wards greatness in a fight with … drumroll … DAWSON ??? Yeah, white. Err, right.

Posted September 6, 2012 11:53 am

In there prime

In there prime the greats Hagler, Duran, Hearns Sugar Ray Lenoard, Sugar Ray Robinson all of them would walk over Bernard Hopkins.

Posted September 6, 2012 11:37 am

Ward saying he’s the son of god is like Bernard Hopkins saying he is better than Sugar Ray Robinson. Ya right. Both these guys need to wake up from sleep land ASAP.

Posted September 6, 2012 11:34 am

Prediction: Ward will not outclass Dawson. Maybe out-stink him in a stinkfest of a hit-and-hold-headbutt-lowblow-dive-low-grab-and-push extravaganza, which is his trademark style. Yes, it’s effective. But yes, it bends rules until you barely recognize it’s a boxing match. Maybe he can out-effective Dawson if the ref allows his constant holding, pushing, wrestling, and occasional “accidental headbutt” throwing hooks from a crouching position, leading with the head “by chance”. But he will never outclass Dawson, since Ward doesn’t have the class of really great champions. With a ref who would strictly disallow the holding, pushing, grappling and other fouls, he would lose rounds. Easily. And maybe then it’s not so easy anymore to win more rounds than losing.

Son of God Hey Ward your no Jesus. Get a life, hope you get a beat down sat !

Posted September 6, 2012 8:19 am

John if you cant respect two prime p 4 p guys facing off, as talented as these two are, then your not a hardcore boxing fan. Go watch mma or dog fighting then. Unbelievable

Posted September 6, 2012 8:15 am

I agree totally. Your crazy if you think ward can outclass Dawson. The analysis is completely off. Dawson is a pure boxer. You won’t see him pressing action and becoming overly aggressive. He’s going to box, box and box some more. Unless Ward has developed some pop since we saw him last, Ward will have a hard time establishing himself against Chad who has been in the ring with bigger punchers and guys that are just as crafty if not more. I truly believe Dawson can stop Ward, if not itll be an extremely close decision.

just like they have round of the year and fight of the year they really should have boring fight of the year, call it stinker of the year, just to make it fun,if bailey didn’t ko jones that would be leading the way, this one might too

Posted September 6, 2012 6:21 am

Not really difficult to predict. Unless Dawson has learned some magic-trick, or installed bio-engineered anti-headbutt helmet, underskin electric vest for huggybearing how to neutralize, …ehh… I mean spoil the spoiler. Even then it’ll be mighty difficult task being in Ward’s own backyard. Dawson doesn’t have shocking power to stop Ward, and UD or SD would be out of the question.

It’s boxing allright, everything can happen, but some things have tendency being a constant.

Posted September 6, 2012 6:21 am

Yep, pretty much how I see it going too. Some people call this “outclassing”, maybe they’re right in some particular point of view…

Posted September 6, 2012 6:15 am

How can anyone complain about this fight being boring. It’s like listening to Coltrane and then saying “well damn, he just plays too many notes. Can you just play Smoke On the Water?”

Posted September 6, 2012 4:41 am

I don’t see that happening at all…. I see Dawson doing the better boxing and moving and Ward doing the better brawling, wrestling, and attacking.. I don’t expect Dawson to be super aggressive but try to use range and boxing skill.. The boxer who dictates the fight will win — and I believe that will be Ward.. I don’t expect to see a lot of cute stuff from Ward, he’ll fight a very basic fight where he presses the action with his size, strength, and infighting skills—I believe he’s the stronger athlete—complete with headbutts, elbows, forearms, and shoulders for leverage, he’ll push Dawson off balance to get openings …. It will be something like the Kessler fight, but much closer because Dawson is a much better boxer than Kessler.. Alternatively, if Ward can outbox Dawson—which I don’t expect—the fight will be a much closer version of Ward-Froch.

Posted September 6, 2012 3:10 am

Ward will win this fight. All this talk of Ward headbutting is dumb. When you fight close then the heads will come together. Ward wins this fight by decision or late round stoppage

Posted September 6, 2012 1:32 am

Im not watching this snoozefest. Got luck to you guys who do and hope you get a better fight than i predict. And lets hope its better than Johnny Nelson vs Carlos De Leon

Posted September 6, 2012 12:51 am

B Red

I have Ward giving Chad a beatdown, ya dig

Posted September 6, 2012 12:38 am

Ward is smarter and can adapt better than Dawson….Ward by decision.

Posted September 6, 2012 12:31 am

Ward is a idiot

Son of god how about oh god please. Ward has already borrowed from the Philly dirty book of Bernard Scumkins the great head butting that Hopkins uses to win in his fights ah la tito. Ward will use this to his advantage against Dawson.

Posted September 6, 2012 12:11 am

This is truly a tough fight, but all I can remember is Dawson’s last almost exactly loss two years ago. Ward is by far tougher than dude from Montreal. Ward by majority decision, but it will be close on the cards.

Posted September 6, 2012 12:07 am

Ward all the way.

Posted September 5, 2012 11:43 pm

It’s Me, Ernie…

Excellent post.

Posted September 5, 2012 11:29 pm

Ward takes this fight easily… it’s a repeat of Ward-Green (albeit against a more talented, yet equally tentative, fighter)

The only guy at SMW that I see potentially beating Ward is Dirrell and it’s for all the wrong reasons. Both use spoiling tactics to win fights. Dirrell takes a jab-run around the ring 3 times-jab approach and will only really open up when he feels he’s in no danger. Ward will maul into range, then wait to see what the opponent does whilst opening his arms as if he’s about to hold… if the opponent tries to hold, Ward will switch and start punching… if the opponent tries to punch, Ward will clinch.
The thing is, I think Dirrell’s spoiling tactic may work better for him should the two meet. Dirrell is athletic enough that he could stay on his toes and negate the entire fight… all he’d need to do is land one or two jabs along with some pitter-patter (i.e. punches thrown quickly with no commitment so that he can get straight back on his bike if Ward tries to get on the offense) and the round is secured.
The fight would have to be scored based on the first 3 rounds because all judges (and the audience) would be asleep by then.

Kevin C

Ward will jump in with a punch and an attempted (or successful) headbutt …. repeatedly. he will hold with one arm and attempt short punches with his free hand. Dawson will not be able to break this pattern. The announcers will talk non-stop about how amazing Ward is. I will just shake my head and wonder how this joke of a fighter that has the disgusting habit of calling himself the “Son of God” can be getting so much undo credit. BTW, isn’t there a Son of God a little more deserving of that monicker?

Posted September 5, 2012 10:07 pm

Camach…you really don’t give many specifics, just broad brush generalities. Here are some specifics for you to think about…

Strength advantage – Ward. Quickness and length advantage – Dawson. Intelligence advantage Ward!

Consequently, Ward will keep this fight on the inside very similar to the Sakio Bika fight, making it ugly at times. His significant strength, savvy and infighting superiority will carry him to a UD win!

One more thing Camach…you imply Ward loses rounds 2 through 4. When is the last time Ward lost 3 rounds in a row?? I don’t think it happened during the super 6!

Posted September 5, 2012 9:45 pm

Dawson in fire and extremely motivated, Dawson by TKO

Posted September 5, 2012 9:31 pm

old guy

Just can’t see Ward losing. Ward by UD.

Posted September 5, 2012 8:53 pm

Dawson throws and moves out the way, classic boxing style, Ward cant counter whats not in front of him………. Dawson wins this fight through reach and movement

Posted September 5, 2012 8:52 pm

Lots of people will tell you what they think will happen. I’ll tell you what will happen: Ward by a split decision.

Posted September 5, 2012 8:23 pm

Ward will show us something new? I doubt it, even if he does, it won’t be something that catches Dawson by surprise. Still this is a 50/50 fight. Very difficult fight to predict.
