Ticket guy you are so right! That’s why I got rid of Mayweather he sells no tickets and Richard Schaefer lies about the ppv numbers. Who wants to see him fight a featherweight like Guerrero. If it weren’t for Ruben Guerrero no one would care about Floyd’s latest mis-match.

Manny has business to do with Marquez before a Floyd fight is appropriate.

A flash knockdown gave Hatton a 2-point round—but Collazo got that 2-point round back on my card by almost knocking Hatton out in a later round.. I had Collazo winning that fight, and so did most people. Collazo landed more punches and did much more damage… Hatton was holding on for dear life… The Collazo-Berto fight was close. You could call it either way but I had it one point for Collazo.

Look at Collazo’s face after the Hatton fight and then look at Pizza face.

FIGHT AFICIONADO, “the primary mistake Mayweather made v. Cotto is providing him with a generous payday that he never earned at 154lbs. no Laras, Martirosyan, Thurman, Molina, Kirkland, Angulo, and never mind Canelo…” on COTTO’s 154lb ring-resume is what i was pointing out with that comment. Floyd did avoid Margarito but i was also confident that he would defeat him if they ever met. it was more a matter of principle than genuine suspense regarding the outcome of that potential matchup. otherwise, who can credibly dispute Mayweather’s dominance at 147lbs, which is his optimal fighting-weight? IMO, it’s irrefutable, making discussions otherwise purely academic.

Posted May 2, 2013 9:57 am

That isnt entirely true. Margarito had called out Floyd. Floyd didnt seem all that intrested. Clottey the same thing. Big welters that Mayweather didnt care to take the risk of fighting and instead went after other more lucrative fights with low risks. $$$

Posted May 2, 2013 3:11 am

Fight Aficionado, you should change your name, Mayweather went after Cotto at 140, by the time Mayweather was in the 140 lb. division Hatton had beat Tszyu. Mayweather Call both Cotto and Hatton out after a fight Cotto’s reply was he wasn’t ready for Mayweather. That ‘s Bob Arum told me not to fight Mayweather in boxing talk. I never heard if Hatton replied to the challenge. After Mayweather left Bob Arum, Arum would not give Mayweather a shot at any of his champions, that why Margarito and Clottey were not given a chance to fight Mayweather. That feud is the reason we had no Monay/Pacman fight. The same reason DLH can’t match his fighter against Arums fighter is because DLH left Arum and made it without him. This is what I remember happening in boxing 10 to 15 Years ago.

Posted May 2, 2013 1:07 am

Cotto gave May problems because of the angle of his jab an up jab. the same one the De La Hoya used to give may problem. Cotto also varied his right hand, hooked to the head and body and use it straight to the head and body. I believe he should have followed that up jab almost consistantly with a straight right. because of Mayweathers defense the up jab and straight right should work most of the time.
I said this before the fight and still believe it to be true.

Posted May 1, 2013 11:33 pm

Robert Guerrero will pull off the upset in stunning fashion. Doubters will be shocked and at local bars late into next week when it happens. They are so confident, but wait and see the outcome, and watch and see their expressions when it’s all said and done. Guerrero will win.

Posted May 1, 2013 10:35 pm

Every single Fighter just named is rated LOWER than Guerrero. SO I APPLAUD Floyd for facing the HIGHER rated opponent.

Posted May 1, 2013 10:29 pm

Of COURSE Mayweather hand picks his opponeents. He hand picks the CHAMPS and Top 10 P4P Fighters out of the Sport. The ENTIRE Sport wants to face Floyd but he consistently ducks LOWER rated opponents for HIGHER rated opponents. I APPLAUD this type of ducking.

Posted May 1, 2013 10:27 pm

Not to mention none of those fighters sell tickets. Maybe Angulo but come on, he hasn’t looked good since losing against Kirkland.

Molina, Kirkland and Angulo have no chance at beating Floyd. Neither did Lara.

“the primary mistake Mayweather made v. Cotto is providing him with a generous payday that he never earned at 154lbs. no Laras, Martirosyan, Thurman, Molina, Kirkland, Angulo, and never mind Canelo…” – Tumbo, not a mistake it was by design. Cotto was damaged goods with name recognition, which Floyd considers the perfect opponent. Canelo, Lara, Kirkland and Angulo would actually have a chance at winning. So they get no date.

Posted May 1, 2013 9:22 pm

AP: “Floyd Mayweather Jr. admitted this week what many have long suspected – that he hand picks every opponent who enters the ring with him.” – Thus we know how and why Floyd ducked Tszyu at 140, Cotto, Margo and Clottey at 147, and went after the damaged Cotto at 154 instead of Canelo. Ever hear Floyd mention Canelo’s name? You know why.

@ te tumbo. dont dismiss Cotto because you dislike PE. Cotto did his thing and gave us some great fights he held a title for nine years. he doesnt have to fight Canelo to have been a great champion. Canelo is young and strong, Cottos best years are behind him and hes naturally smaller. And im sorry but Dulorme and Rosado fought guys with much more experience than them early in their careers something most fighters coming from mexico usually dont do. Juanma doesnt have a plan b and got exposed, Salido was on his game. Im Puerto rican and respect Mexican fighters, always tough, well schooled. And theres alot of young talent coming out of PR.

anyone who heard the explosion that Cheato’s left hook made when it connected to Vargas’ chin in the first round of their fight, you asked yourself “what did he just get hit with.” even Vargas said, “I had never been hit with a punch like that. I can remember thinking, who is this guy Mike Tyson.” also, if you watch and listen to the replay, you’ll notice that even Lampley was saying, “look at how Vargas is responding even to [Cheato’s] jab(?!).” Cheato’s jab was almost knocking Vargas down and this is a fighter who had fought top-quality opposition and had never been knocked down before. however, despite being floored in the first round, a green Vargas was actually DOMinating TriniDud during the middle rounds of their bout and scored his own KD with little more than superior boxing-punching skills. of course, Cheato predictably resorted to his notorious fouling tactics — NOT prime boxing skills — to “level the playing field”. even incurring Three F’n Point Deductions in that bout and NOT being DQ’d? “only in America”. however, once Cheato was made to wrap his hands legally against B-Hops, the power was gone. at about 1:30 into the first round, TriniDud and Hopkins got tangled up and as Hopkins was pulling out, TriniDud was holding his arms down and he hit Hopkins with the exact same left hook that took Vargas down and Joppy out, yet Hopkins felt no ill effects. again, in the 5th or 6th round as the bell rang to end the round, TriniDud threw a left hook after the bell rang and caught Hopkins square on his chin, yet Hopkins just looked at Tito like to say, “is that all you got.” besides, are the names of Campas, Oba Carr, Mayorga, Thiam, Troy Waters, Maurice Blocker, Vargas, Reid, Joppy, or Cherifi considered to be ATGs? No? then why the F(!) should Cheato TriniDud?

it’s already been established that you’re thoroughly ignorant of PR’s puny and irrelevant history but you’re on the brink of the Abyss even considering trying to understand Mexican history, e.g., “”Transplants”? Mexicans are directly descended from the first native americans and the first european settlers to “discover” them. no matter how you figure it (not your strong suit, btw), Mexicans are first Americans in the most historically factual sense of the term. moreover, Mexico is a Nahuatl term and the eagle on the Mexican flag reflects Mexica creation history. Wtf can you claim other than gratefully(?) clinging to the “latino” identity that your Daddy Yankee gave you? for nothing more than a welfare check and a block of government cheese. Wtf are You so proud about pinche vendido mantenido.

Cotto is providing him with a generous payday that he never earned at 154lbs. no Laras, Martirosyan, Thurman, Molina, Kirkland, Angulo, and never mind Canelo are included in Cotto’s 154lb ring-resume. instead you’ll find the names of Foreman, Mayorga, and a one-eyed Margarito for which Cotto STILL needed doctor intervention to escape the brutal beatdown that was just beginning unfold when their bout was stopped. Mayorga and Margarito retired immediately afterwards and Foreman hasn’t been heard from since. two consecutive losses afterwards, Cotto is still hanging around for another handout but NOT from Canelo. he’ll never have the “wehbos”(?) to face that challenge. not even to maintain the “rivalry”. in which case, what “rivalry”?

“Danny walked up to [El Terible] to thank him like he did with Judda, extended his hand and [the ATG] Eric Morales left him hanging and wouldn’t even make Eye contact..” absolutely NOTHING more humiliating for a Mexican ring-warrior than losing to a Puerto RicaN’T. even a class-act as good, prime, and hardly PR like Danny. oh well, Erik is the last ring-warrior to lower expectations of a Mexican fighter facing a PR, which is to beat them down to their knees and make their wife, kids, parents, and fanboys cry. preferably in their own backyard. a reminder that a mere 4 million PRs can never compete v. 1 trillion Mexicans or whatever number PRs pull out of their culotes to excuse the beatdown of another one of their hype-jobs, e.g., where’s Cotto now? where’s Dulorme now? where’s Rosado now? where’s JuanMono now? certainly not in any discussions about serious title-contenders, i.e., Se Acabo. Cotto lost rounds to Mayweather when he chose to Box which was his Cuban Trainers game plan, totally wrong in my opinion.. There was no way Cotto was going to out Box Mayweather.. when Cotto fought like the old real Cotto he had success vs Mayweathers turn your back and lay on the Ropes style.. Which Mayweather admits did not work and the reason he said he needed his dad to get him back to being a top Boxer.. hit and not be hit style… but no doubt Mayweather won.. and Cotto earned his respect.. no sht talkin for that fight

I think when Floyd is prepared to say bad things about his performances, he says them because he wants to draw more attention to the fight.

Disagree with this statement all you want, but I honestly believe Floyd fought in a more Fan pleasing style for the Cotto fight.

He fought a bigger man, a better boxer than RG, and as far as I know with bigger gloves than at 147?

Trust me.

He is going to pick RG to pieces, Marquez Style.

Its going to be a boxing clinic from round 5 to 12.

Public Enemy – Cotto is puerto rican, not Mexican

Posted May 1, 2013 12:58 pm

This is too funny. Robert had been talking trash from day one. Floyd gets in his face on the shoot, he starts talking all low. One thing about Robert everyone should know by looking at his past two fights and more. He’s not a defensive guy and willing to get into a brawl. Can Robert box? Yes. Floyd is the most accurate boxer in the game. Put two and two together, accuracy and no defense don’t mix. Judah gave Floyd problem because of his speed/power, not because he was a south paw. Floyd knows that, you have to keep your lead foot on the outside of the south paw lead foot. You have to be smart coming in on Floyd. Floyd loves to shoot the right hand at the moment you try to come in. Watch the Marquez and Hatton fight and you will see what I mean. If Robert thinks he will just shoot the decoy jab and run in, he’s crazy. Floyd does this thing by pulling his head back making you miss and he will shoot the right hand and out of there depending on your reaction to the punch. Berto don’t know how the bend at the waist are fight on the inside. Watch Floyd inside game.

No one’s style can involve getting hit alot or else they won’t last too long and/or WIN very consistently. As I stated YEARS ago, when Floyd starts getting hit alot he’ll be on his way to LOSING. Thats why he is WISELY focusing on that. Because the key to LOSING is getting hit….Floyd is going to be firing on all cylinders for this Fight. He started sparring late last year. His timing and SKILL level is going to be through the ROOF. Make NO mistake. Too bad for Guerrero that this isn’t Sugar Ray Leonard or Sugar Ray Robinson at 34. This is the GOAT at 36. Floyd is just 2 years away from becoming the OLDEST #1 P4P Fighter in the ENTIRE History of Boxing. Guerrero is in trouble.

It’s funny to hear FM’s story now. After the Cotto fight he clearly said he fought the way he did to give the fans a good fight. I believed it was because Cotto managed to force his fight on FM and that FM was losing a step. Sounds like that is exactly what happened because now FM is saying he made mistakes.

Posted May 1, 2013 12:13 pm

Exiled Yank

I also don’t expect to fight 6 times in 30 months either. That will make him old. Like Sr. said, FM will be pushing forty when this contract is up, and I don’t care who you are, 40 is old for a fighter… except maybe Hopkins, but he’s just a freak of nature.

Posted May 1, 2013 11:55 am

Collazo didn’t box Hatton’s ears off. He almost stopped him after he was SO far down on the scorecards that he needed a knockout. In FACT Hatton had already dropped Collazo early in the Fight.

Posted May 1, 2013 11:55 am

Exiled Yank

Age might be catching up to FM, but his style allows for that. Jones couldn’t handle the age because he fought on pure reflexes alone. The same can be said for SRL and Ali. They were all amazing athletes, but they relied on reflexes and speed. When that was gone they became almost human. FM has all the speed and reflexes of the others, but his style is fundamentally sound. He’s going to get hit a lot more, but I don’t expect him to look old and decrepit in a single fight.

Give Mayweather a tough fight. Mayweather is still fast enough and a defensive genius to beat any welter or junior middleweight around. Robert Guererro is in for a tough night if he stays on the outside. His best chance is to stay on top of Mayweather.

Floyd, you didn’t feel the same vs Cotto because you have lost a step and age is catching up to you as it does to everyone especially boxers that rely on timing, speed and movement. Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roy Jones and others all say the same thing when time has finally caught up to them. They are forced to sit in the pocket and fight. This is one of the reasons among the others I mentioned that will give Floyd Mayweather his first loss in stunning fashion.
