A prime Vitali would have KO’d a prime Lennox Lewis any day of the week. An inexperienced fighter at that level took the fight on two weeks notice and still outpointed LL. LL’s legs werer shot at the end of the last round….he literally fell onto his stool. He would not have survived one more round. LL got a gift, knew it and retired before getting KO’d by Vitali.

no, lewis wasn’t a quitter, he just got brutally ktfo by inferior fighters multiple times. vitali retired due to a career threatening injury once, 13 years ago, dumb ass. that does not make him a quitter. he even returned to boxing after retiring even though he didn’t have to. i guess he has proven you wrong.

Posted May 4, 2013 10:01 pm

whipped that ass how? lewis was losing on all 3 cards and ran from a rematch. but have fun in fantasy land believing that vitali was whipped.

Posted May 4, 2013 9:57 pm

the facts guy

The Klitschkos would have destroyed most of the smaller fighters of the overrated 70’s – FACT!

Posted May 4, 2013 10:03 am

the facts guy

George Foreman himself said Vitali is as good as any of the former champions — FACT!

Posted May 4, 2013 10:02 am

vitali wins this easily.

Posted May 3, 2013 9:04 pm

Vitalis ascension to #2 man coincided with the retirement of Lewis, his own hiatus and the aging of Holy and Co… Vitali came back to a division that had been cleaned up for the most part by his brother… Klits best night was Sam Peter and that ain’t saying much!

Posted May 3, 2013 8:43 pm

Bears, Lewis is NOT A QUITTER like Vitali, he got stopped he did not sit in the corner whining about a sore arm with a couple of rounds to go against a guy he was 34 pounds heavier than Chris Byrd.!!!! A shameful blight that forced Larry Merchant to say “he doesn’t have the heart of a Champion” Bears loves Merchant… For years Vitali was called Quitschko due to his cowardice that evening… His willingness to lose an eye was redemptive against Lewis, but he was mercifully saved by kind Dr Wallace who saw the futility of his quest as he was eating uppercuts and bleeding profusely..!

Posted May 3, 2013 8:40 pm

Bluzie, you sound ridiculous Hopkins was MW Champion and had booked a TON of consecutive defenses by the time he was 36 years old… How does that compare to Vitali who was not a recognized Champ at the age of 31 when he failed against Lewis… As for Ali becoming Champion at 22, he beat “The Man” and was a Champion at that tender age… Point is Klitschko was around forever and could not get it done… That’s why he’s still fighting for respect and discussing Lewis forever… Sad!

funny to watch redness get his ass handed to him by multiple people. of course he is just a troll and will be back for more spin doctoring later. he doesnt have the dignity to accept defeat.

Posted May 3, 2013 4:52 pm

“So this redness character has not only proven that he cant be objective whatsoever, obviously has a vendetta against the klitschkos” —

its just because they are white and he cant handle that his brothers have lost control of the most prestigious division in boxing.

Posted May 3, 2013 4:48 pm

Klitschkos are two of the very best HW to ever step into a boxing ring.

?Www a boxer counter puncher who may actually. Dethrone this guy

Posted May 3, 2013 4:23 pm

In fact he couldn’t even say “no mas” until he was no longer neuroligically SCRAMBLED. None the less lennox is tough dude but only one guy was concussively effected in vitaly vs lewis. Lewis’s brain is more inclined to get scrambled than vitalys or wlads. In fact, vitaly has never been given a standing 8, never been dropped or ko’ed. So vitaly is the most scramble resistant of all time at heavyweight.

Posted May 3, 2013 3:31 pm

Lewis couldn’t get past a crackhead without saying “no mas”. Lol @ redmond. Dudes a scrub. He can’t handle guys like jim rome rome saying wlad would ko ali. He can’t handle everyone in pro boxing, guys lie rafael and roach saying the klitschkos are the greatest and would be favored against anyone. He can’t hndle the surgen who stitched up vitaly who said the cuts werenot caused by a punch but a wrist rake lace job. He can’t stand that lennox and briggs said vitaly hits the hardest and were their toughest fights. So he says their all wrong. And insists he himself is right. As I said yesterday, redmonds the east side boxing resident crackpot. Equivalent to the bum on the corner holding the sign “the end is near”. This dudes delusional. He thinks david tua was a wbc havyweight champ. Lol @ redmond

WOW this is one long thread! This seems an open & shut arguement to me. The Klitschkos would have been competitive in any era due to their size, athleticism and boxing brains. Can you compare them to other eras though.. well of course you can but it’s a mugs game! Vlad & Vit have simply lacked competitors at, or around their level – Lewis had Holyfield, Ali had Foreman et al. The Klitchskos only had each other and they won’t fight! The Klitschkos will go down in history as record breakers but will always lack the romance of the earlier eras.

As for the Lewis fight – He was able to fight dirty to win a fight he was clearly struggling in (at least on points) and bloodied Vitali horribly… but Vitali’s quality, size & youth ( a dangerous mix for a 37 year old) made Lewis take the sensible option – retire! Vitali has not had to do this because there has been no compariable boxer to a Young Vitali in the last ten years, and thus he can stil be champ at 41.

Posted May 3, 2013 2:57 pm

One more and then I’ll go easy on you ” to be honest you can say at 8 years Vitali had not won a major belt” Actually 8 years in he was a 3 time heavyweight champ. But lets leave this “you can say…if…..but…” and all that kind of crap. Do you know how to debate in facts redness and not hearsay?

Posted May 3, 2013 2:11 pm

“Ali stopped Liston at 22″ and what’s your point? What has someone’s age go to do with anything? By that logic B-Hop must be garbage since he only claimed his first major scalp at 36. Yes age is important, but at the other end. The older one is and can still perform at the top level gets kudos, not the other way around. How long have you been following the sport? I get the impression not very long. Boxrec and wiki are great tools for newbies though, I see you’ve already been introduced ;)

Posted May 3, 2013 2:07 pm

So this redness character has not only proven that he cant be objective whatsoever, obviously has a vendetta against the klitschkos, well certainly Vitali, he has also shown that math was not his strong point. Redness says “Sorry Bluzie it’s 4 years” okay, heres a lil lesson. You should have listened in school though. 1 year = 12 months. 2 years = 24 months. 3 years = 36 months. Are you still following redness? Now Vitali as already mentioned turned professional in November 1996. That = less than 38 months before the 90s officially finished. So redness, in what parallel dimension does less than 38 months equal “4 years”? Because I have news for you, in the really real world, 4 years consists of 48 months. So once again, can you answer what legendary fighter made great headway in a 38 month time span or less? Or if you cant answer then atlease remove your panties and actually ‘man up’ that you are VERY wrong on this count. Something tells me that “being wrong” is something you’ve probably come rather accustomed to though, no? Just a hunch…

Posted May 3, 2013 2:03 pm

Yeah right Tark, Vitali beat Lewis and Romney beat Obama!!! HaHaHa!!! The reason Klit minions fight soooo sadly and vainly for credit for the Lewis bout is because Vitalis quality starved resume needs a blood transfusion like a hemophiliac after a Car accident… Lewis avenged losses do not diminish his Greatness because of the marquis wins whereas Vitali might be the only HW Champion who would want to discuss his career starting with a decades old loss as opposed to a win… But then again the list of his deposed foes might sedate a room full of sleep deprived reporters… His best night was Samuel Peter LMAO!

Posted May 3, 2013 1:43 pm

Sorry Bluzie it’s 4 years and to be honest you can say at 8 years Vitali had not won a major belt (Lewis bashed his face in) Tyson was HW Champ by 20 years old under 4 years, Ali had stopped Liston by what 22? Klitschko could not win a major belt till he was well into his 30’s and everyone had retired…. The initial premise was The Klits could have dominated the 90’s they were around and didn’t come close they could not even dominate the early 2000’s losing to Lewis in 2003, and the Wlad getting knocked out 2x in 5 fights culminating with Brewster capping him in 2004 if I’m correct… They had almost a decade and were still flirting in and out with the then very lowly WBO belt… So this talk of them owning the 90’s is a joke :)

Posted May 3, 2013 1:33 pm

**he achieved more than most of the legends in history during each respective first 3 years as a pro

Posted May 3, 2013 12:54 pm

Thanks for that lil rant redness but unfortunately you failed to answer the question. WHO has achieved “headway” in 3 years as a professional? If you can’t name anyone then you need to give VK a pass for “not achieving headway in the 90s” by your obviously unrealisitc standards (even though he achieved more than most of the legends in history -european and world titles)

Posted May 3, 2013 12:50 pm

Vitali has one actual loss in 47 fights… He beat Lewis… Everybody knows Vitali was up on the scorecards with Lewis and that the fight should have gone to the scorecards… Those cuts did NOT represent swelling or hard punches thrown.. They were inflcted with the palm of Lewis’s right glove.. You are only stopped on cuts if the cuts were opened up and made worse by legal punches.

Vitali only loss in 47 fights came after he dominated Chris Byrd but couldn’t continue because of a severe tear in his rotator cuff assembly.

Wladimir Klitschko has alwasy admitted his brother is the bigger, better, and tougher Klitschko…and would win if they fought… It was particularly evident when Vitali came off a 4-year layoff and smashed Sam Peter to smithereens so easily, and not even taking a hard punch for 7 rounds — and at the age of 37 after 4 years off — and a guy who had his brother down 3 times in the only previous loss on Peter’s 31-1 record.

Posted May 3, 2013 12:23 pm

Bluzie, you just validated my points I meant to Thank You!! 1996 is part of the 90’s or do you consider that the 21st century??? Sorry man the Klits were around and not closing the right deals…

Posted May 3, 2013 11:47 am

Bluzie, you can argue all you want he was a fighter during the 90’s and early 2000’s yet never win a major title absent that lightly regarded WBO belt, he lost to Lewis, QUIT against Byrd and he was 8 years into his career… If he was this massive beast he would have taken over whence least by year 8 when Lennox was doing performance art on his face… Wlad was getting asked to retire after Brewster by Vitali, that was what 2004? These guys inherited the division like spoiled trust fund babies they did not get entrepreneurial and takeover… FACTS

Posted May 3, 2013 11:45 am

Vitali has been ONLY The second best HW or less his WHOLE career, he has not unified anything nor even beat the best fighters of his era… There is NO debate, you cannot be “The Man” if you are not even running your own era… Wlad Klits is the guy running this post Lewis dead ERA of HW boxing… He was kind enough to let his older bro be a foot servant… Tyson, Holy, Lewis and others all enjoyed the distinction of being TOP Dogs bar none whereas Vitalis a background singer in the Heavy Metal Group!

Posted May 3, 2013 11:41 am

Obviously Vitali would be a big bookies favourite for this fight, but I think at long odds Stivern might be worth a small punt.
Stivern has got power, and he did move pretty well, making Arreola miss him quite often.
If Stivern can stay mobile he may not take as much a beating from Vitali, whos older legs are showing in his last few fights.
Vitali has been stunned by the late Corrie Sanders, so Stivern has a chance…….a small one……but STILL a chance of landing a big shot and be the first and last to put Vitali on his backside.

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

The Klitschko brothers are the two best HWs in boxing history. The undisputed GOATs. Lewis comes in at #3. Sorry my fellow Americans, but we didn’t crack the top three when it comes to the HW division.

Posted May 3, 2013 1:29 am

look at all these sorry k bro haters trying to ease the pain of their miserable lives by hating on great hall of fame caliber guys. get all that anger out and then come back tommorrow after wlad notches yet one more win and get some more anger out. rinse and repeat for the next 3-5 years. then 5 years later, wlad is in canastota. sucks to be you.

Posted May 3, 2013 12:49 am

in 1999 vitaly klitschko set his guiness world record with number of knockouts in least ammount of rounds and time at heavyweight. That chump said vitaly couldnt “make any hedway”. bhahaahahahaah!!!

Posted May 2, 2013 9:09 pm

Sred says, “Vitali fought in the 90′s but could make no headway” …

Not much, he was just heavyweight champion, defended the title, and went 27-0 in the decade.

Posted May 2, 2013 7:57 pm

in vitalys first championship bout he knocked out hide with a JAB!!!! in round 2! not only do you not see people getting knocked out with jabs but in a championship bout!!!!! hell yeah. his names vitaly and mike tyson has never done it and never will do half the stuff that vitaly has.

Posted May 2, 2013 7:53 pm

vitaly is the best plus/minus ratio in heavyweight history. mike tyson cannot say this. vitaly klitschko has never been loosing a fight. mike tyson cannot say this. people are calling vitaly klitschko the GOAT like esb writer vivek wallace and many others. they are not calling mike tyson the goat, so mike cannot make a case for a GOAT but vitaly can. vitaly has the best ko %, mike tyson does not

Posted May 2, 2013 7:42 pm

It wasnt like lewis was old in rahman one and then all the sudden not old in rahman two. fact is, lewis never showed signa of age decline like vitaly is now. there is nowhere you can point that out in lennox’s career. lennox himself said he ages like “fine wine” prior to fighting vitaly and that he would be around for a long time to come. vitaly detroyed that. against rahman. lewis just got caught with a punch he didnt see had nothing to do with age related decline. vitaly dominated lennox in the boxgame. vitaly dominated the range, ring generalship, compubox and aggresion. and deffense. vitaly outlanded lennox every round a “clean sheet” noone had ever done that to lennox. lennox was forced to resort to his signature hold and hit move and in the beginning of round 3 thats how he cut vitaly. sky sports shows a close up of it. lennox held the back of vitalys head with his left arm and raked him with his right. then you see the blood splurt out. lewis was warned in round 2 or 3 of his first title fight with i think it was tucker. tua made a big deal out of it before he faced lennox saying they wanted a ref who would uphold the rules. lewis even knocked a guy out with that move. its a foul. lewis tried to fight anyone not named klitschko for 6 months then the wbc told lennox he would be stripped that he had to fight vitaly or be stripped. after saying he would rematch vitaly. he made vitaly fight 2 additional fights, get cleared to fight by independent dr’s, and finally when forced to fight vitaly by the wbc. lennox promptly retired. vitlay became the first man to retire a standing a champ by way of an “offical” loss. tyson never could come close to doing this. lennox was initially cheered at staples center where he fought vitaly. he was boo’ed at the end of the bout and walking out. thats the sound lennox retired to

Posted May 2, 2013 6:43 pm

Holmes was 38 and I deduct for that but Tyson finished him off for the first and ONLY time in his career in 4 rounds… Vitali was in the ring with a 37 year old Lewis and got his grill mangled, Lewis had been stopped 2x and against the wort version of him Vitali lost in 6 rounds granted Lewis was standing Champ but he was a couple fights removed from getting knocked out by Rahman…Vitali shares the HW Championship with his brother (a sliver) his opponents have been of a consistently LOW caliber, the best guy he faced was Peter post Lewis who does not rate… Again Mike Tyson was the clear HW Champion for YEARS Vitali was “the man” for what a year after an eliminator? Important fact Vitali fought in the 90’s but could make no headway…

Posted May 2, 2013 6:43 pm

the facts guy

tyson was a midget that was for all intents and purposes, done by age 23. he would have no chance against the ukrainian giants. but k haters can dream about it.

Posted May 2, 2013 6:42 pm

Sred Holmes and Spinks may be hofers but kah-mon. Get of Mikes jockstrap. Everyone knows Holmes was 38 years old and having his first fight in 2 years. Spinks a blown up light heavy. You cant say Vitali hasnt beaten any hofers himself yet cause history is still been written. He may have already beaten a hofer for all we know, and or will do. you named some of the things mike accomplished that Vits never will, like being youngest champ. Well what about the things Vit has achieved that mike never will? For a start isnt he already second oldest heavyweight champ in history. Hell he will be 42 before by the time he fights Stiverene for cripes sake. Mike can never boast that he was never knocked down or KOd. Vit can. Mike cant claim to be champ for 4 plus years and running with 9 defenses (soon to be 10), but guess who can Sred….thoughts?

Posted May 2, 2013 6:28 pm

Mikm tyson woulnt even favor himself against a klitschKO. Lol @redmond. Now what was your comparrison? I will tell u mine. Wlad and vitaly > mike tyson. Ad I think everyone else will agree around the sport.

Posted May 2, 2013 6:08 pm

Broner cannot even be compared to Mayweather he’s been boxing for 5 seconds and neither can Canelo, Broner is in Floyds pocket and had not won a single bout at 147 he’s not squeezing anything except that brush NO ONE knows how Broner will punch at 147 that’s why he’s taking a non puncher to test the water which is smart… Canelo will probably get a Mayweather fight due to economic potential but in the meantime what about another credible 154 or 160 pounder for a guy who hits the ring at 172? The knock on Alvarez was his resume had too many smaller fighters like Lopez, Matthew Hatton, Jose Miguel Cotto, and Alfonso Gomez so what’s the Floyd Mayweather Myopia about Floyd’s got a fight booked that’s the problem guys treat Floyd like the ONLY lotto ticket around unless you think 22 year year old Alvarez is getting OLD

Posted May 2, 2013 2:52 pm

Bears, Tyson was very much a “Badass Boxer”
He made it to 45-1, he made it to 37-0 he unified the division he’s the youngest HW Champion in history he beat HOFERs via KO… Spinks/Holmes what had Vitali done by 45 fights ummmmmm he quit, he was a single belt holder he lost in 6 rounds to the only ATG he faced and he was NEVER the best HW around for more than a year after Lewis bashes his face in and retired and his brother flipped coins deciding who was going to be the next guys to flatten him (Sanders and Brewster won) so pretending Tyson never accomplished anything is more of your nonsense he did FEW things Vitali never did and NEVER will… But then again Stiverne is a HOFer right????? Call 3 Six Mafia and ask them!! LMFAO !!!

Posted May 2, 2013 2:37 pm

Vitali has a unique and awesome style… Floyd is a classic boxer in a style pursued by many others… Look at young Adrien Broner for instance. I think AB is more rugged and carries more power. He’s certainly more aggressive with an uncanny killer’s instinct.

Floyd has to be feeling the pinch… Canelo has closed him off at 154 and AB is jumping weight classes to squeeze hm at 147… Floyd is a wanted and hunted man… Adrien will grab a 147 World Championship by crushing Paulie like a grape.. Then he’ll be staring Floyd down big time.

Posted May 2, 2013 2:33 pm

How was Oscar “washed up” Floyd spotted him plenty of weight coming up from 147 when ODH had fought unsuccessfully at 160… Oscars the only guy in 17 years as a pro to eke out a card against Floyd Mayweather… You keep going on about GGG and Canelo but who have they beat EXCEPT Trout… GGG has been facing NO ONE of note and last beat guys best at 154 Ishida and Rosado, you don’t know boxing like me fool your a parrott who spews whatever he hears… Again you think Golovkin who’s WAY outta FMJs weight class is the man… WHO HAS HE Beat professionally?? I know you’re gonna go to Wikipedia and try the amateurs but that’s not gonna work… 5 steps ahead Bears you’re a HillBilly you have NO shot!!

Posted May 2, 2013 2:27 pm

Bears, you were just calling Floyd “AWESOME BOXER WITH A UNIQUE STYLE” flip flopper! Mayweathers competition makes Vitalis look like a bunch of Golden Glovers… Out his last 4 opponents 3 were going to the HOF, all 3 had titles in 3 divisions and even Ortiz the least of them had a belt to grab… Meanwhile Vitalis opponents have accomplished NADA at HW, And we know this POOR GROSSLY UNDERSIZED ADAMEK “Manny Steward while announcing this is a mismatch Adamek needs a stool!! It’s a fight between a SuperHeavyweight and a Cruiser” Adamek has little power at HW so he has no shot unlike Haye who you want to keep Vitali away from due to the way he murdered Chisora… Charr??????) HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHA!!! This dude was a NOBODY, unranked… It’s not even fair to compare the resume of Floyd Mayweather to the anemic, patchwork quilt of a resume being passed off by Vitali… Next you will be trying to sell Stiverne as terrific!! After all he beat the chronically out of shape Arreola who’s only a sure thing against guys like Ralph Butler!!! That’s why Floyd’s the highest paid athlete on a Planet with 7 billion people and Vitali fought on the HBO undercard of Andre Wards Super Middleweight fight…. SHAMEFUL!!

Poor Dante another man I have broken and driven to try nd figure me out… Alas you FAIL to refute ANY of the sound points I make regarding the Klits who are certainly HOF bound but have given us a SLEW of weak fights and weak challengers to match… Are you contending that Charr, Pianeta, Mormeck, and OLD Thompson were high quality opponents? Truth is you’re pissed because I’m just stating the obvious, Stivernes an OK fight, do you wanna pretend he’s great? That’s not a defensible perspective thus you are NOT even ballsy enough to try and sell that nonsense…Just giving you the facts Dude!!

Posted May 2, 2013 9:48 am

He beats the computer keys while the klits keep marching towards the hall of fame. And none of what he posts has any effect on that. It simply keeps him from slitting his wrists.

Posted May 2, 2013 9:06 am

Where’s this fight between Mayweather in Khan? Mayweather says he wants to fight in the UK and everyone assumes its against Khan? He came out and said
“I never said I was fighting Khan at this point” he also lead guys by the nose and told them he was facing Devon Alexander on Twitter then he went with the expected Guerrero, everyone wants a Mayweather payday he’s the MOST powerful fighter in boxing… You know he cannot be defeated in his appropriate weight class that’s why you compile a list of guys who walk around in the 180’s to try and stop the guy (MW’s) to no avail Mayweather would be a fool climbing another 2divisions at his age to please an idiot like you… This is NOT Vitali towering over poor Adamek and Gomes… Guerrero is taller and weighs more than Floyd at the last weigh/in…. Again it’s MayDay the Klits can fight or NOT fight against ex sparring partners who really cares???

Posted May 2, 2013 6:21 am

Bears, Gurrero has WAY more credentials than Stiverene and had enjoyed titles and rankings before he was slated to fight Floyd Mayweather, like I said I’m Ok with Stiverne it’s better than trash like Mormeck, Charr or Sosnowski but AGAIN Stiverne is NOT that big a deal even Tark pointed out guys ahead of him on the line… Stivernes getting his shot off of beating a SLOB that Vitali had already knocked out and can really only win against club fighters and Travis Walker types so it’s impossible to sell Stiverne as more than an OK opponent and if Arreola had won we would have seen that Garbage again SAD!!! Mayweathers so insanely Great and undefeated he’s being sought by every fighter from 140 to 160 and as for being shook everyone KNOWS Vitali and his fans want NO part of David Haye who’s 3X the athlete that Stiverne is… They would rather a SLOW AND STATIONARY fighter for Klits.. Meanwhile Hayes 5 inches shorter and 35 pounds lighter than Vitali….. SHAMEFUL!

Posted May 2, 2013 6:11 am

Go Vitaly!

Posted May 2, 2013 6:08 am

Bears, Wlad making 17 mill is nice once he takes 75% but Mayweather close to tripled that against Cotto , Pacquiao makes more and Tyson, Holy and Lewis were making more TEN YEARS AGO… Yes Povetkins name HAS LOST its luster, he openly avoided the only shots at Championship fights for YEARS! Guys have been calling him a coward forever, he’s been facing relics from the 90’s Rahman and Boswell and Huck had him on the brink… We know he’s NOT up for Klitschko physically or emotionally his name was worth more YEARS AGO, I have watched you guys bash that kid for that fake belt for YEARS NOW….

Posted May 2, 2013 6:02 am

HaHaHa Floyd’s not a MW fighter give it up on that one the guys way to small for that division and everyone who’s an honest boxing fan knows that… Martinez and GGG are off the table so suck that up besides Martinez is about to be laid up for surgery at age 38… I see Canelo as a fight on the horizon, but again Canelo just fought and you’re spewing names like a machine gun… Why the hell is Floyd gonna face a WAY bigger no name MW fighter like GGG… Like I said Bears you have NO real stances you just wanna exchange for the hell of it the other day when pressed you said “Floyd’s awesome with a very unique style” yesterday you say “he’s utter garbage” one day you are trotting out an article where Vivek Wallace way overestimates Klitschko and calls him a “HW Floyd Mayweather” next days your calling Mayweather “Fraud and a Biaatch” like I said you are DUMB, and BADLY CONFUSED with absolutely no real position absent constantly bent over and biting the pillow…

SREDMOND is a piece of garbage. He isn’t one millionth the man that either Klitschko is. He is the s**t on the bottom of their shoes.

Manny Pacquiao does NOT beat women not hang in nightclubs…!!! Hes HUGE FACT is the Klits have bored people with their bouts against sparring partners, old men and Cruisers along with Hug Fests…. PAC Man did it with excitement and not much English!

Vitaly klitschko thread has more comments than any mayweather thread.

Posted May 1, 2013 7:11 pm

Hardly, I said this is an interesting bout in lieu of David Haye, but the fact remains who is Bermane Stiverne??? Was he a highly ranked killer before this bout? I am Ok with the bout because the kid looks like he wants to try and when Arreoka hit him he fought back and went to the body in the 12th… But then again he was fighting Arreola, who is not capable of beating Competition beyond a certain point for obvious reasons… What is Stiverne a top HW? Beyond Arreola we have him beating Ray Austin

Posted May 1, 2013 7:10 pm

Let me get this straight… Fury knocks out Cunningham, who everybody knows beat Adamek… Haye knocks out Chisora, a recent title challenger because everybody knew he beat Helenius… and Pulev knocks out Ustinov and Dimitrenko who had never been stopped before. They’re all rated below Stiverne? A guy who couldn’t stop a pathetic Arreola? Who thinks Siverne would be a tougher fight for Vitali than Fury, Haye, or Pulev? Boxing isn’t about making the most appropriate matches happen—that’s what pisses me off…

Nevertheless… Vitali is 41 years old. This could still be interesting.

The best heavyweight of all time.

Redmond talks up stivernesperformance below and then belittles him as. Klitschko opponenent! Lol @ redmond!!!

Posted May 1, 2013 5:17 pm

Vitali is a man ripe in years but also in experience which has served him well. More significantly is the ability and skill value of Vitali’s style and boxing acumen / intelligence. With his repertoire of boxing tools despite being 41 he is still able to do the job and send the opponent prematurely to the showers despite their own skill and desire to evade this fate. This high flier boxing phenomenon, Vitali Klitschko, is a marvel and a hard man a one and only unsurpassed at what he does being at present the peerless heavyweight boxer of our time. Good time to be a heavyweight boxing fan unless of course your name happens to be sredmond.

Posted May 1, 2013 4:19 pm

Vitali should be Stiverne who enjoyed no world ranking of note prior to beating Arreola who has NEVER succeeded against a Top 10 fighter.. As per usual Klits will face another historically unimportant fighter…Typical Klit defense but it’s better than Mormeck Oh Well!

Posted May 1, 2013 4:01 pm

Bears, constantly being mocked and derided… Truly a fool of epic proportions!

Stiverne will go down in the middle rounds — it’ll be pretty bad. The guy can move away from a punch a little quicker than a telephone pole.

Stiverne hits hard with fast hands, but has zero footwork and his stamina is very suspect. He can only fight at his own pace, and it won’t be enough against an old Vitali, even an in shape Stiverne.

Bears, your problem is that you ERRONEOUSLY believe that these threads pass for real life… NO ONE is sitting around saying Lewis took a razor to Klits except for you and TARK no credible writers discussed this… Vitali fought HARD and he lost and his reputation and career never exceeded that moment… His claim to fame is doing 6 rounds with Lewis after that people are HARD pressed to come up with a highlight reel moment… So what he hurt Lewis in the second round, we saw Lewis hurt, KOed and TKOed before Vitali did NOT accomplish anything that a fighter of his tenure in the sport should still be discussing…. He took the WORST beating of his life and his career his winding down to LITTLE fanfare outside of Germany…You sitting around discussing his NIGHT with Peter and using such derogatory rhetoric has LOST you even MORE respect… You best get on a thread and start sucking up to that LAME Gonzo because that is your forte seeking support from other men like the guy in jail on a DWI amongst Murderers and Rapists he cannot fend for himself so he chooses the perceived lessor of 2 evils bending over for a protector in order NOT to end u like Andy Dufresne in “Shawshank Redemption” getting gang banged by the “Sisters”…. I love watching you squirm and equivocate when you fall into the abyss of BIGOTRY you cannot and will not stay away from RACE yet you cannot accept the social penalty you MUST pay!!! Sucks being you Bears really sad human being!!

philly shell

I guess Stiverne earned the shot, but I don’t think he looked all that great against Areolla… He only looked as good as he did because Areolla looked so bad coming in out of shape. Not a knock on Vitali, he’s gotta fight the mandatories, but Stiverne has next to no shot of winning this one.

Posted May 1, 2013 1:00 pm

Bears, 3 six Mafia (the rap group he claims took over his mind and made him write this post) was NOT even relevant when Vitali beat up Peter what 8 years ago…. Did you have a foreshadowing or a premonition? Did a Ghost appear and tell you this is the appropriate message? You cannot change the topic with LONG diatribes and dissections of the the Lewis/Klitschko bout which ALWAYS end with Vitali losing and on his back and the Surgeons telling him not to moving while he sewed him up from mandible to forehead…. Its a hard knock life Chump that fight was 10 years ago and NOW you goons are trying to sell Bermane Stiverne as the second coming, I am OK with this bout in lieu of Haye but do you REALLY think Stiverne is gonna be seen as the Greatest for beating Arreola and Ray Austin? unless he rings Klits bell he will be another relative ho hum opponent with no serious accomplishments… Or are you going to discuss him beating Price in the amateurs? a guy who could not make it to 20 fights without getting CRUSHED by a overweight version of Thompson??

I am with also – man evolved as he left the continent of his birth, faced new challenges and had to become more intelligent and capable to overcome them. This was my earlier point around Cassius Clay rejecting the country that gave him a better life than he could otherwise have achieved. The Klitschkos are the epitome if this and is is facile to compare them against these proto humans.

Posted May 1, 2013 12:22 pm

But they are aren’t they? Back in the old days America had the best boxers. There was a large population of fighters here filling up the divisions and the rankings. Europeans, Asian, S. Americans an Africans did win belts. They were not seen as the best. Fighters today still fight amongst their own. Is RJJ as local Champ for not fighting The Europeans of his time? Dont even mention how a guy like Tommy Burns Globalized the title by fighting in 3 continents and taking on all comers including Jack Johnson a man nobody wanted to face in the states for more reasons than racism.

Back to football yes NFL Europa was 95% USA foreignors still competed. Rugby players can easily form a football team and compete. The NFL is all about the $$$$ they would love new teams. why do they play in London and Mexico? More fans would help but the big picture says expansion

Posted May 1, 2013 11:49 am

Those men defeated the CCCP boxers in the amatuers. So what if Ali, Holmes and the other greats didnt fight them. They didnt compete. Are the Baltimore Ravens not WORLD CHAMPIONS since they didn’t play a Moscow team. Please.

Who cares about a Strong Man contest? Thats NOT even on the planetary radar and there is NOT professional outlet for that… Lifting tires earns you how much per lift? We are discussing boxing get with the program I could care less how much a guy can “clean and press”

Posted May 1, 2013 10:55 am

What a WEAK and unreasoned argument “the modern athlete is better” WOW that is a monument to LAZY thinking… The better argument is SOME modern athletes are better and there is a demonstrable metric that defines what is “better” track and field best examples due to times…. Boxing is FAR from so “cut and dry” alot of these guys BIGGEST issue is their SIZE it often results in lower VO2 Max, decreased workrate and slower reflexes you guys look at Wlad who is a specimen of an athlete and try to endow the entire division with his gifts which is CRAZY…. Helenius, Fury, Arreola and others are NOT good approximations of Wlads size, strength and speed…So get real, Fury just got put down by a Cruiser even though he won the bout handily via stoppage…Wach is TERRIBLE SLOW inept, terrible balance… Wlad, Lewis and Vitali are in a different category as big men and peak Lewis and Wlad are MORE fluid than Vitali or any of there other stiff Giants…. Lewis was MORE improvisational and fluid than Wlad at his peak and had greater all around variety and skills… But NONE of these 3 guys typify the “Modern Boxer” these other guys are VERY beatable size 25 sneakers and all…

Posted May 1, 2013 10:53 am

Brick City The Klits have cleaned out the division for almost 10 years. Is it their fault their 6 foot 7 and 6 foot 8 . What happens if The American Joke Deontay Wilder ever wins or has a title handed to him by fighting some fat cruiser weight will you write the same if all his opponents are shorter since Deontay is a bit tall ?

Posted May 1, 2013 10:22 am

Bears, is such and IDIOT that he is trying to pump up the Klits based on “Ring Entrances” really Bears? is this the marker of Greatness? Wlad it appears just got his BIGGEST purse bid for 25 mill roughly 17 mill plus to him… Certainly not a small amount in the boxing world but Lennox Lewis, Tyson and Holyfield were fighting for 2x that over 10 years ago and the EURO is stronger than the dollar LOL!!! Floyd Mayweather would not even box for that sum, (Neither would Manny Pacquiao) he’s now commanding 40 mill and up when the PPV upside and backend is calculated….EVERY fighter who wants worldwide and historical acclaim wants to be a HIT in the US we saw Hatton, Khan, Pacquiao and Calzaghe (late) seek fame on US soil because the biggest and most prestigious events take place here (Simply fact) trying to counter with the soccer stadium full of cheap seats is nice but it does not change the economics of the bouts hence the BIG dollars coming out of Las Vegas…Again the Klits have found a market and they are milking it because NO ONE is going to pay to see those guys fighting completely UNHERALDED boxers, OLD Cruiserweight, Unranked guys and Ex Sparring Partners in the US…..Wlad Klits has become quite a fighter and its a shame that the best bouts he has been able to produce over the past 2 years is a rematch against a 40 year old fighter he had ALREADY knocked out and who attesting to the fact he was not strong enough to deal with Klits when he was his sparring partner (Thompson)

Posted May 1, 2013 9:44 am

Klitschko’s are good fighters and thats about it, the heavyweight division is pure garbage now, they fight smaller unknown fighters. What they show do is fight some of these big young unkown fighters who may have a chance of beating them or atleast put up a good fight

Posted May 1, 2013 9:36 am

Neil (Pomy)

Stiverne is on the small side …. but at least he is a better opponent than Pianetta.

Posted May 1, 2013 9:29 am

Who cares about the Klitschkos marvelous personas? They are very classy guys from the looks of things outside the ring but thats HARDLY relevant to their performances in the ring and overall appeal… This is boxing if being nice was the ticket we would see a proliferation of “Nice Guys”…. Tyson was dastardly outside the ring at times but he was “Mr Excitement” inside the ring hence his ability to sell PPV’s when he was past his best, meanwhile if Wlad or Vitali tried to stage a PPV it would have to be against Floyd Mayweather Jr to have a chance of selling…. And lets get real Vitalis past is NOT sparkling he was busted for cheating during the “96” Olympics a time when money and fame are not even in play yet… Dude was kicked of the Ukranian team, this is FACT this is public record… So EVERYONE has a past….

Posted May 1, 2013 9:25 am

Bears, is an OFF the CHARTS BIGOT he is completely unabashed about it and he operates comfortably on these threads because ALOT of other BIGOTS cosign his nonsensical statements which always are preceded by an argument he cannot overcome intellectually but enough about that fool.. I actually like the idea of this Stiverne bout in lieu of David Haye, Klits should have enough to win but more than anything Stiverne looked GAME against sure is fArreola who despite his lack of committment to fitness can give and take a good punch… I see a bout between Stiverne and and Klitschko playing out somewhat like Vitali vs Chisora, with Klitschko possibly facing more jeopardy because Stiverne seems a bigger hitter than Chisora… Then hopefully we can have Haye dispatch Charr and then Vitali can actually fight a boxer people are rom planet Earth!

Posted May 1, 2013 9:20 am

I was impressed by a couple of things Stiverne did in there. He moved well and jabbed. He counter punched also. One killer flaw was his inability to avoid the arreola jab when he was fresh. Vitali will not get tired. I think Stiverne needs at least one more fight and a chance to shed some lbs. I think he is not ready but his power has been the equalizer when down in a fight

Posted May 1, 2013 8:42 am

If stiverne comes in at 245 – 250 it will be similar to the sam peter fight. If he comes in at 230-235 we will have a freaking war.

Posted May 1, 2013 8:11 am

Stiverne need to freakong lose 15 pounds. He could be exactly like a prime Ray Mercer if he can in at 230-235. He could give vitali hell but he will come it at 245-250 and be competitive for 3 or 4 rounds and get reduced to a human punch bag.

Grand Wizard

Fighters of the past were physical and mental midgets. Compare the Klitschkos to Americas great boxing hero’s. Tyson was a rapist and a bully, lisping, semi- coherent man, diminutive at only 5’10, with midget short arms. A violent and disturbed bully who could not deal with tall men who did not fear his ‘aura’.

Clay was arrogant, a coward who refused to defend the country that gave him everything he had unlike so many other much braver and better men from the general public. If he had been left where he belonged he never would have got what he did from life but he was too cowardly to defend the country that made it possible. Furthermore he was so easy to hit he became a cabbage.

Both were Ghetto trash.

The Klitschkos are handsome, eloquent, educated and erudite. They are generous ambassadors. Athletes. Conduct themselves in great fashion. These mental and physical midgets of the past are an insult in comparison to the Klitschkos. We are witnessing the evolution of man with these tall, handsome, powerful and intelligent men – let’s not compare them to proto-humans not far removed (by ship) from the land of man’s primitive beginnings

Posted May 1, 2013 5:30 am

Professor Punch

Another prime example of tag team boxing – Vitali and Wlad must have seen something they didn’t fancy for little bro in Stiverne, punch power and resilience. To avoid another close shave like the Peter fight ‘politician’ Vitali pulls a u-turn on his retirement. Meanwhile he can use the ‘mandatory’ position of Stiverne (weird because he won a ‘semi-final’ so should be fighting Fury Pulev winner to become real mandatory) as a smokescreen for big bro to duck Haye who presents Vitali with the ‘movement-speed’ conundrum. Playing to their strengths as ever.

Posted May 1, 2013 4:38 am

Eddie Hearn is staging another Heavyweight Prizefighter on the same night Haye fights Charr and Audley Harrison is first on Eddie’s list of fighters to take part. No matter how badly Harrison performs at a higher level, no matter how much fans want him to retire, Hearn will always, always give him a slot in heavyweight Prizefighter tournaments. Expect an official confirmation shortly. Audley is not retiring anytime soon, Eddie will keep giving him Prizefighter slots for the next 5-years or until Audley decides he can make more money doing TV work.

Looks like Vit fights the Berm next as mandatory challenge. David Haye is now on the back burner getting singed and burned and forgotten. Berm the Bum gets a good payday and a whooping at the same time. He is tough enough and shows up for a fight anyway. He will show up. He sure put the beat down in a bloody mess of a fight with the always tough Chris Arreola. He will go out on his shield unless he lands a lucky shot on Vitali. Will be a good Heavy Weight Title Fight.
