Chavez Jr. will win. And I plan to bet on him to win. Does anyone know if Chavez Jr. has ever been knocked down; or stunned by an opponent?

Posted September 9, 2012 1:16 am

LOL, small ring, roid up, come in 20 lbs heavier, doesn’t want his gloves weighed, refuses drug test, has the judges in the pocket…yep that’s JR. Hope he gets a boxing lesson even after all that cheatin’

Posted September 6, 2012 3:54 am

What must Chicken Jr. do to beat Martinez??? What he always does.. Cheat… LOL

Posted September 5, 2012 4:08 pm

Believe me, I wasnt praising the man, but the fact is Margo took his punishment like a man. I was just pointing out that Chavez might be in a similar situation, where the guy he’s chasing down is raining hell on him as he backs away, and we don’t if Chavez will take that kind of punishment.

Posted September 4, 2012 10:07 pm

I already bet on this fight against morons who think Chavez has a chance

Posted September 3, 2012 11:20 pm

miss making weight, pay the fee and dont even bother to make 2nd weigh in. refuse to provide a piss sample and hope his size/weight will help him walk through the punches

Chavez camp is dysfunctional. Calling Roach at 2 am to train? Bringing Ariza back for the last 3 weeks? Having a taco barbecue followed up by an impromptu . sparring session? This is not how a real champion prepares for a fight.

Martinez is washed up already ya’ll deal with it. Ya’ll seen him almost lose a decision to macklin until he got a miracle k.o. Hes done, finished, only a shell of what he used to be. Chavez jr by knock out in the late rounds. Then u guys can come here and get mad as I say “I told u so” im lettin u guys no right noe. 37 YEAR OLD MARTINEZ IS DONE!!!! this is a setup, chavez jr is in position to become their new marketable boxer wit mayweather and pacman nearing an end. Their taking an advantage of the faded martinez to elevate Chavez to stardom. Its a dirty game but at the end its all about buisness

Posted September 3, 2012 5:21 pm

Ya right. While Chavez has improved his body punching, his connect percentage to the head is terrible. He’s not fight (overrated) Andy Lee again. He’s fighting the best middleweight out there, Sergio Martinez. I predict that Martinez will dominate. Julio won’t even be able find Sergio.

Posted September 3, 2012 4:29 pm

Chavez needs to have his father, Top Rank, and his godfather (Jose Suliman) to bribe all three judges, the referee, and drug-testing officials in order for Julio to have a chance to win.

Posted September 3, 2012 4:21 pm

Martinez will get seriously hurt in this fight if Sergio thought pavlik hits hard wait till he feels jrs power. Sergio will run run run he can’t hurt Chavez Chavez will laugh at him when he gets hit Sergio will not b laughing when Jr lands

Posted September 3, 2012 4:03 pm

The only way Chavez beats Sergio is with a bat while Martinez is sleeping. Punk ass disgrace for a Mexican. After this fight I’m drafting Sergio Martinez to either Jalisco or Michuacan seeing that he’s more Mexican than that babied paper “champ” chump. And to Chavez fans Respeto para el padre pero pinche Jr que chinge su madre

It takes no Balls to do what MargaCheato did vs Cotto.. it takes just a low life Criminal Mentality to load your Gloves with Cement Bricks… MargaCheato is a proven Glove Loading Cheat.. nothing more to discuss regarding that douche bag.. Karma did what it does best and let Cotto be the one who retired the Cheating Bastard…. That one eyed Cripple can now go spend his ill gotten money on medical bills…

Ortiz family are mexican imigrants. Hes part mexican. Infact he IS mexican, but was born in kansas. So what you sayin???? you sayin mexicans dominate boxing? Or are you just puting your 2 cents in coz thats all you got?

Posted September 3, 2012 3:10 pm

So, who is fighting? Ortiz VS Maidana or JR Vs Sergio? To different fights and by the way, Ortiz is American before hes Mexican, so it was USA VS Argentina, get your facts right.

Posted September 3, 2012 3:01 pm

Nobody can run for 3 minutes straight, nobody can hit and run 12 rounds, Martinez is not young and I dont if you guys saw him fight the last 3 fights, but he was actually loosing a lots of rounds and only for the late KOs on names fighters. Im Mexican and yes, I want JCC JR to win, but I also love the sport, I believe when is time for somebody to take over, is time somebody to take over. Everybody in here used to talk crap about JR not fighting good fighters and now that he is, nobody wants to give him prouds. People dont realize that JR is in a win, win, situation, if he wins than he just proves everybody wrong and if looses, Im sure everybody is going to see the heart and will of a fighter. Martinez has all the pressure on him, why? Because acoording to everybody in here, JR cant fight, and Im pretty sure that everybody who he has fought has a different opinion. We going to get what we need in the sport of boxing and that is three good fights in two weeks.

Posted September 3, 2012 2:57 pm

You are right, any closed round should go to the champ and not the challenger…

Posted September 3, 2012 2:43 pm

Wow, repeat a bulls**t story often enough and loud enough, and the groupies will come. This is not a close fight, amigos. Junior has no head defence and not enough power to hurt Martinez early. Martinez batters the kid for six or seven round before it gets stopped. Might be on cuts, might be Chavez Snr throwing in the towel, but a stoppage it will most definitely be.

Posted September 3, 2012 2:29 pm

Ok story but NOT correct. Nobody talks about this but the REAL reason Julio is such a good inside fighter is because he has short stubby arms for a guy his size. Although Martinez is shorter, he actually has a reach advantage, so it would be disasterous if julio tryed the right from the outside against a mobile longer armed guy. Use your brains author. Lead right is wrong for him but good for others in general. As far as leading with lot’s of body shots, that’s idiotic as well. Why on earth would you follow a guy and then lead with a body shot aginst a guy who has a gun-shot fast counter when people drop their hands which Chavez would have to do to land the body shot? Stupid. The fact of the matter is it Chavez needs to hope and pray. Hope that he can take a beatng before he can catch Sergio, then pray that Sergio gets tired. If these things unfold, I can see Julio catching him late. But the old prescriptions for victory to beat a southpaw only work in certain cuicumstances. Not all the time though. Good matchup

“maravilla” will run he will not stand and fight he will run like a coyote but it wont help him he will fall just the same

Posted September 3, 2012 2:01 pm

you asked how will chavez jr will beat “maravilla” this is how the fight will unfold martinez will attempt to stay on the outside circling with his hands down trying to potshot chavez jr chavez jr will cut off the ring walk “maravilla” down rake him with body shots KO’ing him by the 7th round fight over and career over for martinez who will retire to Argentina with brain damage

Great post

Posted September 3, 2012 12:56 pm

Actually, I think the Americans are making a come back to take-over boxing in almost all weight categories. Adrien Bronner looks like he will be dominant at 130-140 lbs. Mayweather continues to be dominant at 147-154 lbs. Andre Ward and Chad Dawson look dominant at 168-175 lbs. And Seth Mitchell and several other up and coming prospects look promising at the heavy weight category. There are several Hispanic American fighters who also look promising including Mikey Garcia, Danny Garcia, Brandon Rios, and others. I think the mexicans have Alvarez and Chavez as great up and coming fighters who may be dominant. But other than Juan Manuel Marquez — who is on the downside — I don’t see any other dominant Mexican fighters. I think you are wrong.

Posted September 3, 2012 12:51 pm

Martinez needs to land a BOMB early and then we’ll see how Chavez reacts to the punch of an elite fighter. He’s been walking through the punches of lesser opponents, but once Martinez lands a couple he never even saw, he might not have the desire to just walk in uninvited. It takes a LOT of balls to do what Margarito did against Cotto: walk through constant fire to land your bombs. Nobody knows for sure that Chavez can do that yet at the level of Martinez.

Posted September 3, 2012 12:42 pm

Strange when Chavez jr first came out almost everyone called him a bum. Now theres a debate if he might beat the best middleweight out there at this point. So you have to give him credit. Lee has some decent power and Chavez looked like he was walking through it for the most part pretty easy.Chavez also seems to have a good set of lungs along with youth on his side. But Sergio is more athletic overall and has better ringmanship but with his age he could get old overnight. This could be a good fight better then anyone would have thought a couple of years ago. And ofcourse Chavez size how the hell does a middleweight weigh 180 or close to it on fight night.

Daly jr

Remember the last time mexico went against Argentina? Ortiz vs Maidana????? looooooooool

Posted September 3, 2012 12:25 pm

Chavez Jr. will win this fight quite convincingly. It’s going to surprise and at the same time befuddle many. He’s somewhat erratic outside the ring, but he will have enough to get by Martinez. There will be good action though.

Posted September 3, 2012 12:16 pm

I’m just looking forward to a good fight!

Posted September 3, 2012 11:51 am

Everything in the article is essentially what Chavez Jr does every fight… I just don’t think it’s enough against Martinez. Chavez’ weakness is that he’s tentative when it comes to throwing at a moving target. He only lets his hands go once his opponent’s feet are planted (that’s why Andy Lee was actually ahead on the scorecards in their fight).
Lee was inexperienced and overrated, and it looked almost as if Lee tired himself out hitting into Chavez’ guard and got disheartened by his inability to hurt Chavez. Martinez is not the same kind of animal. You can’t tire him out just by plodding around after him. You HAVE to be throwing punches.
So if Chavez can get his hands working on the way in, regardless of if Martinez is moving, then he’ll be onto a good thing (even if he’s not always landing, it’ll force Martinez to work much harder). Having said that, he’ll need to be very careful with it and make sure his punches are nice and tight without over-reaching (otherwise he’d better be willing to eat a lot of counter punches).

Yes I agree. Junior wins in the late rounds with pressure
Martinez ain’t seen before.

Posted September 3, 2012 11:30 am

I am going with Jr. in this fight. The Kid gonna win.

Posted September 3, 2012 10:09 am

Neil (pomy)

I think Chavez is just too slow and basic to beat Martinez. Martinez is getting old but he still has enough left to outbox Chavez. I actually think chavez is a decent world level fighter, but Martinez is just a better boxer and faster. Chavez has the size advantage, but little else.

At the risk of sounding cynical – he simply needs to get the fight to the cards and he wins.

Posted September 3, 2012 9:50 am

Easier said than done, Chavez will make him fight.

Posted September 3, 2012 9:49 am

at the time Margarito stopped Martineze, Margarito was just as green as Sergio with about the same number of was not as if Margarito was a well established champion at that time. it was a good win for Tony but will have very little bearing on Setember 15th. i like Chavez jr over Martineze due to youth, size, body attack and constant pressure.

Posted September 3, 2012 9:47 am

Chicago guy

Always watch Martinez left hand. One solid punch of Martinez will end Jr. assault.

Posted September 3, 2012 9:32 am

The Kingslayer

Take away Sergio’s legs by pounding that body at every opportunity, once he begins to slow down pin him against the ropes/corner and repeat until Martinez starts to drop his hands.

Posted September 3, 2012 9:10 am

Chave jr has been fighting since 2003…and he is still looking ‘for his ticket to legitimacy’….by taking on an old warhorse like Martinez..who’s strength used to be his flashy footwork(maybe ten years ago)

‘ticket to legitimacy …my ass’

shortest book ever written….HOW TO MAKE IT ON YOUR OWN…by Nancy Sinatra
Cesar jr’s is longer….cuz he has more letters in his name

Sean Ocampo

I agree!

Posted September 3, 2012 8:52 am

Key’s to a Martinez victory: 1. Don’t get macho — stick and move, and stick and move some more. Don’t get into a “slugfest.” 2. Use angles to keep Chavez off balance and unable to load up. 3. Frustrate the kid early, then later catch him with sneaky pot shots. Against Andy Lee, Chavez saw everything coming at him — Lee telegraphs his shots, he isn’t sneaky like Martinez. The ones they don’t see coming are the ones that do the most damage. 4. Control the distance. (Hopefully the ring size won’t equal a phone booth.) If Martinez does all this, he cruises to an easy victory.

Posted September 3, 2012 8:46 am

Martinez name is the same….but he’s not the fighter he once was ten years ago

Posted September 3, 2012 8:44 am

hmm…..eleven year difference in age….CHavez 26….Martinez…37……Question was…what does Chavez need to do to defeat Martinez ??? sign the fight….Martinez was once…not now

Posted September 3, 2012 8:42 am

pressure, pressure and guess what, more pressure, a tactic Chavez excels in.

Posted September 3, 2012 8:21 am

This is a good fight. Author is basically correct … pressure and body punches and Chavez has a chance whereas Martinez needs to stick and move and also use body punches on Chavez to create openings and hope to catch Chavez right on the chin. I think this is even fight. There is no favorite. The biggest hardest cleanest from Martinez might not knock down Chavez who will likely come-in at 180 lbs. The big hard body punch attack might not work on Martinez who had good footwork and will probably not get caught on the ropes. If you believe in conspiracy theories, then you bet on a tough exciting 12 round draw. This would set-up a big rematch and a mega-pay-per-view. If you are a conspiracy theory fanatic, then you bet on Chavez because the big, big, big, big money pay-per-views will be with the Chavez name and Mexican and Mexican-American fan base. If Chavez wins and draws big numbers in pay-per-view he can make big money for the promoters and everybody involved in future pay-per-view and become a star and that is how the game is played. If this is an even fight on the merits, then given the outside influences you have to say that Chavez is the favorite because the money behind boxing would want Chavez to win. There is no big money future in support of Martinez. The money wants Chavez and money usually wins. It will be very difficult for Martinez. Expect the fans, the referee, the judges, the announcers to all be against Martinez. It would be an amazing if Martinez won.

Posted September 3, 2012 8:07 am

Big T

For Chavez JR to win, needs to have a good Def, ((That he dosn’t have)) Martinez gets old over night..((Wich could happen))…and he gets all the close rounds.

Posted September 3, 2012 7:59 am

This fight will finally prove to all that Chicken Jr. is no better then Hector Macho Camacho Jr. just another Jr. living off of the name of his Daddy getting all the Breaks from Godfather Sullaiman…. Little to no Talent and just a spoiled priveledged kid getting all the breaks while others like Martinez have to work hard for their piece of the Pie…

Posted September 3, 2012 7:49 am

Chicken Jr. telling Martinez no body wants him, Spain doesn’t want you, Argentina doesn’t want him is all Martinez needs to hear to justify the Major ASSWHOOOPIN he’s about to put on Chicken Jr…. Chicken Jr. will look as unrecognizeable as MargaCheato did vs tiny Paquiao… and will get droppeld and humiliated like Mosely did to Tijuanas Master of Plaster Margacheato….

Posted September 3, 2012 7:46 am

In order for Chicken Jr. to beat Martinez he has to come into the Ring weighing over 180+lbs, continue taking his steriods and HGH Ariza Shakes and make sure the Criminal Cartels continue to threaten Martinez.. Martinez also has to also come in with his hands tied behind his back….. Plodding Chicken Jr. is a bum.. Andy Lee was easily out boxing the slow Plodding Pinyata.. if it wasn’t for Chicken Jr coming into the fight as a Light Heavywieght Chicken Jr. would’ve easily lost.. Andy Lee was up on all Cards once Chicken Jr. started Wearing Lee down… Martinez is going to have a ball punishing Chicken Jr. all night long. Chicken Jr. is going to take a MargaCheatesque CAreer ending beatdown like the one Paquiao gave the Master of Plaster MargaCheato… It’s going to be a good night for Martinez… after this asswhooopin Both Chavez Sr. and Chicken Jr. will become Alcoholic Drug abusing Bums… Marinez will probably take Chicken Jr’s girl FreeDah….

Posted September 3, 2012 7:44 am

Sergio has above average hand speed with some pop to go along with his above average foot speed. Also Sergio does not have stamina issues. Jr has a great chin but he better come correct because his beard will be tested. Lee does not have the stamina or foot speed that Sergio has–so don’t get it twisted, This is a serious match-up problem for Jr. In order for Jr to win, he has to have the fight of his life.

Posted September 3, 2012 7:36 am

in his last fight junior was lucky because lee did not have the pop to give him much bother marriville on the other had could stop junior is his tracks i suspect that martinez could try to implement a body attack ploy of his own much like mosley did too margocheata but getting back too the title of the story junior needs to crowd sergio and keep the distance close so as to smother him and stay on sergio all night long taking whatever marriville has to offer theres noway junior can beat sergio from the outside as marriville will have the easiest time if that were to happen ( i cant see that happening at all personally ) looking forward to this stoush i hope its a real barn burner as they say (somewhere ?) ……..

Posted September 3, 2012 7:07 am

chavez jr. has below average defense, monster offense and an iron chin. his old man already said it, copy margarito’s strategy and chavez jr. should eventually be able to pull it off. martinez does not do well when against pressure fighters. only question is if chavez jr. has the same endurance and stamina as margarito’s. that remains to be seen.
