Keep on dreaming man!

This is all hype!

Anonymous – I don’t think anyone doubts Rigo’s talent and skills just that he seems to be rushed through to fight a #5 P4P champion a bit too early in his PRO career. Any fan can see that the guy has mad skills, great footwork, well balanced, throws accurate combinations and superb blows from that southpaw stance. This should be a good fight but power wise Nonito has a big upperhand.

LMAO….People have no idea who or what Rigondeaux is ….Acting as if this is some ordinary amateur turning pro late….Ha Ha Ha…The guy hasn’t lost since he was 19 years old …He’s a real beauty to watch and deadly precise, but I guess people think that Donaire has no weaknesses whatsoever given their belief in him….Let’s just say the Donaire I see is a different boxer than who his fans see….He’ll look stupid allright…Maybe he’ll get lucky and get a lucky punch or his promotor buying the refs…Other than that he’s outmatched in skill and boxing IQ….He’ll regret he ever took this fight…But he should be congratulated for taking a chance….But he’ll regret it.

R u kidding me. Boxing ability at the higher weight will out. Easy shut out or late stoppage due to facial damage for Rod.

Posted April 5, 2013 8:28 pm

Donaire to expose the 11 fight Rigo, I say 10th round stoppage, the only real fights Donaire should be fighing is Mares an Anselmo Moreno. Keeping with the Donaire Arum tradition of taking the easy fights I bet Donaire will fight Leo Santa Cruz before he fights either Mare or Anselmo.

horst fraze

if rigondeaux chooses to box , he may lose a decision,if he goes toe to toe, he gets ko’d.

Anonymous and hecdog are putting their credibility on the line on this fight. Betting on an amateur stand-out to beat a p4p professional fighter over 12 rounds.

Posted April 5, 2013 5:49 pm

I’ve been a fan of Donaire ever since I saw him fight Darchinyan.
Rigondeaux looks deceptive & he seems to get his opponents to lose concentration.
This might be a boring fight but I’m really looking forward to it.

Donaire will knock Rigondeaux out. Just like Montiel.

Posted April 5, 2013 2:24 pm

HECDOG, you actually prove my point about Rigo being hyped, u do realize when Rigo beat Mares in the amateurs Rigo was 23 an Mares was 17 lol thats a man fighting a kid.

Posted April 5, 2013 1:58 pm

Rigo is also a hype job, its funny how they praise all these cuban boxers an like to talk about how they have 400 amateur fights lol. If you really look at it what has any of these great cuban boxers done? anyone? I will tell you they come to the pro game make a little noise then start to lose when they face top fighters. Of course the cubans can build a great amateur record thats all they do is fight amateurs. Most of these cuban fighters are like Rigo they stay fighting amateurs who are 17- 18 yrs old when they themselves are now 24, 25 an older lol of course ur going to have a great record against amateur kids.

Posted April 5, 2013 1:53 pm

Donaire is a hype job. He will lose by late round stoppage or UD.

Posted April 5, 2013 12:19 pm

Public Enemy

I support my Cuban brothers but Rigo is just too fkn small for this fight.. I didn’t realize how damn small he was until he stood next to Donaire.. Either Rigo is too small for this weight Class or Nonito is too big and needs to move up to guys his true size…

Posted April 5, 2013 11:21 am

I think Rigo will give Donaire some trouble with his boxing skills. But Donaire will be patient, and willing to take some blows, like he did in his fight with Mathebula, in order to lay Rigo out. Once an opponent feels Nonito’s power, his whole attitude about fighting changes. Rigo’s will too.

“The only “Yank-Job” I’ll have is when I come across a yank and do a nice ‘job’ on him with me crowbar or bat.” Well, you’ll have to buy those after you arrive on U.S. soil Traveller. You won’t be allowed to carry them on the plane with you. BTW, ever hear of a Bullet? Apparently not. “Come across” the wrong yank and he’ll introduce you to one.

Let me tell you something this guy Rigo can and will beat Donaire.

Exiled Yank

Anonymous – LOL!!! Rigo is now a yank! That should yank traveller’s chain!

Exiled Yank

All elite Cuban boxers are well-schooled and incredible boxers. They don’t tend to be fan favorites because they are defensive-minded, but they should never be taken lightly. I think Donaires huge size advantage and power will be the deciding factors in this fight. That’s my opinion at least, for all that it may be worth.

Posted April 5, 2013 10:02 am

Rigondeux is going to make Donaire look stupid. He’s that good..You’ll see..

Posted April 5, 2013 9:26 am

I’m leaning towards Donaire but this fight is interesting in terms of a style match-up.

People seem to think that Donaire is something different to what he is. The guy is what you could call a front-foot counter puncher. He basically dares opponents to commit to a shot so that he can throw a big counter… if his opponent refuses to lead, then Donaire has trouble finding his power shots (i.e. as in a few of his recent fights against defensively minded guys where people seemed surprised that he “didn’t look good” in winning).
The thing in this fight is that Rigo is more or less a back-foot counter puncher. So Donaire will often be the one having to lead and take the risks, which isn’t where his comfort zone is.

I’m still leaning towards Donaire, coz I figure whoever wins is at least going to have to wear a few of the other’s good counter shots along the way… and Rigo’s chin has looked a little suspect of late which doesn’t bode well for him.
But a Rigo victory wouldn’t be surprising by any means… it’s possible the guy only caught in recent fights due to arrogance and that he’ll be taking this fight far more seriously.

Posted April 5, 2013 8:59 am

I see Donaire winning a clear UD. I don’t agree with the article that Donaire is a much more skilled fighter than Narvaez. The amateurs is a very different game than the pros. Most fighters, except for the Cubans and some eastern european countries, turn pro at a young age after the first Olympics or big competition. The pros are hardened fighters and not kids like in the amateurs. Clear UD for Donaire.

Posted April 5, 2013 8:10 am

Can Rigo beat Nonito ? Of course he can as I can too, if I fight Donaire he will be willing to tie his left hand behind his back an allow me to kick and bite him. For thec uban to beat Donaire, he has to neutralize the wicked left, the very under rated right, the boxing savvy, the iron chin , the speed (he is not called the Flash for nothing). the stamina and the boxing experience and pedigree. Donaire by a brutal stoppage in the middle rounds, soone if Rigo engages and not run arund.

Posted April 5, 2013 7:59 am

Rigo has too much inexperience in the pros. I agree that his people are making a mistake by rushing him into this bout. Donaire has more then just a left hook, but he may not need it in this bout. His left hook is Gerry Cooney like.

Posted April 5, 2013 7:51 am

I think I’ll go with the in his prime more professional experience rank P4P boxer.

My far is a loada tripe? How old are you man? I haven’t been insulted like that since I was about 8 years old. Next it will be comments about my mum (and go right ahead cos she is a hoe and I don’t see her). I have the feeling you are a youngster so will leave you to it.

Posted April 5, 2013 2:21 am

A poor analysis…. Donaire didn’t go after Nishioka like everyone expected. He out-jabbed and out-boxed the daylights out of Nishiokafor 9 rounds, and then played possum as Nishioka desperately tried to come from behind.. As TN threw caution to the winds Nonito simply waited for the right opening and scored the KO.

You’ll see an exciting fight.. Both fighters realize this is a blockbuster event that the whole world is interested in seeing.. It’s not your Donaire-Nishioka fight, your Donaire-Darchinyan fight, or even your Donaire-Montiel fight …. You’ll see great boxing and some hard punches landing by both fighters. If Donaire doesn’t suffer from injury or broken hands he’ll win. Rigondeaux is a very tough man.

Posted April 5, 2013 12:22 am

El Chacal, watch out for the hook. Stay alert for the straight.
This is going to be good. :D

Posted April 5, 2013 12:18 am

Tomato Can

Rigondeaux, may have lots of skill, speed and technique. But he’ll have to stay on his bike, give Donaire angles, non stop, or he’s going to get wrecked. I got Donaire, by way of 8th round KO.

Posted April 4, 2013 11:25 pm

Donaire by ko 6. Should be a fun fight. Traveller put your helmet on and sit down please. Adults are talking ;-)

Posted April 4, 2013 10:44 pm

This fight will be competitive. Rigo is VERY well schooled and has a well-stocked arsenal. And Donaire is NOT a left-hook only knockout artist — Donaire can box, and he does it well — the reason why all the boxing scribes have him in the top 5 PfP. The fight comes down to this: Rigo knows the boxing text book upside down and backwards. Donaire doesn’t know everything in the text book but is still an A student, and knows some tricks that aren’t in the book, plus of the two, he’s the one who is the most athletically gifted. Donaire will get stung a couple times being the aggressor, but his work rate and hard shots will earn him a fairly close decision win.

Posted April 4, 2013 9:04 pm

Rigondeax is a good fighter who has a ‘boxers’ chance of winning.

Posted April 4, 2013 8:52 pm

regondeaux has a chance to win against donaire if he wear his head gear during d fight and a maximum of 3 rounds only

Posted April 4, 2013 8:20 pm

FA, Donaire exposes the old overrated Rig with his youth, size and jab. The only time I’ll give Bob a slap on the back is next week when he’s got “50’s” balls in a jar on his desk.

Posted April 4, 2013 8:17 pm

hecdog – Who has Rigo beaten in the pros?? Oh yeah. NO ONE.

Posted April 4, 2013 7:44 pm

I don’t see Rigo taking Donaire’s power….when was the last time Rigo was hit hard?? Oh yeah, he was dropped by a jab. Donaire?? NEVER been down or hurt. Rigo is good, but Donaire is BETTER!! Donaire wins by stoppage.

Posted April 4, 2013 7:42 pm

Traveller – Tyson Fury is a doped-up yank hype-job

Posted April 4, 2013 7:07 pm

Rigo lands a left straight/right hook; Donaire is still standing. hurt, but standing. Donaire lands his left hook/right straight though; Rigo’s dreams are crushed.

Posted April 4, 2013 6:11 pm

Dan D

Traveller, you’re talking nonsense, a loada tripe.

Posted April 4, 2013 6:02 pm

Fight Aficionado

I definitely agree Rigo can beat Donaire. His technical skills are like Calculus while Donaire is doing Algebra. Of course Donaire has that power and Rigo’s chin isn’t great. So while Donaire is probably a 2.5/1 favorite I have a feeling Rigo will pick him apart. This is why they fight the fights, while cherry pickers in other divisions duck tough comp and say they’d win anyhow so what’s the point?

Posted April 4, 2013 5:51 pm

Yeah, Rigo has a chance, a big one at that. But Nonito won’t allow it. Rigo will just be running all night lol

Posted April 4, 2013 5:36 pm

Wow! so many people that don’t understand boxing and styles and the intricacies of the sport. Rigondeaux is starting to scare many of you because you guys don’t think it’s possible for an amateur stand out and world champion like Rigondeaux to defeat a power punching Donaire. Get ready for the shock of your lives when he does it. Donaire gets hit too much, and most boxing enthusiasts don’t understand the deceptiveness of the wide stance that Rigondeaux has. Always pick the boxer over the puncher. It’s all about styles. Donaire is going to look foolish at times, and about the 6th or 7th round, you’ll realize how one dimensional Donaire is. Some of you need to sharpen up your boxing IQ. Rigondeaux will present more problems for Donaire, and he’s going to panic as all punchers do when they face a solid, athletic type boxer. Douglass/Tyson, Duran/Leonard, Chavez/Martinez, Mayweather/Hatton and so on. Time to study gentlemen. Watch the fight, and you’ll see the results.

Rigondeaux by decision.

Posted April 4, 2013 3:50 pm

Everyone is a “doped up hype job” to Traveller, apart from his idol Fury. Go on any Tyson Fury thread and traveller will be there bashing his bishop and crying to the heavens about that “doped up hype job” Fury.

Posted April 4, 2013 3:49 pm

I find this to be a very interesting fight and I can’t decide who I’m picking in this one. Donaire is the favorite and he well should be, but I really believe Rigo will be a tough puzzle to solve for Donaire. Although Rigo is a natural counterpuncher, he has been letting his hands go a little more in recent fights and I think he will this time too. It is true that Rigo doesn’t have the power of Donaire, but his timing an accuracy is a big factor in his arsenal. This fight has the potential to end many different ways and I’m not sure as of yet, but I will man-up and make a prediction before fight night.

Posted April 4, 2013 3:42 pm

Traveller- Who are you, The Iron Sheik from the old WWF?
I sometimes wonder if in fact these cats work for East Side Boxing and they write this crap to rile up people and keep us “entertained.”

Posted April 4, 2013 3:16 pm

Donaire by KO in the 4th round. BTW thanx for the spectacular left hook in the ribs landed on the ” Traveller” fool needs to stfu.

Posted April 4, 2013 2:17 pm

E in Denver

Rigo’s defense isn’t better than Navarez. Navarez moved up to face a bigger & yes more skilled Donaire. The only thing that kept Navarez in there for 12 was his tight defense. The rest is true Rigo is more athletic & a better puncher than Navarez. This is as close to an even match as Donaire has been in for a long time(if ever). I still see Donaire being too much. Rigo has more to be cautious of. Donaire will be more willing to trade because his punches carry more power. Especially that left hook Donaire loves to throw.

Posted April 4, 2013 2:14 pm

Rigo getting KO’d in a FLASH!!!

Posted April 4, 2013 1:49 pm

Rigo has a questionable chin…Just look at his last fight…Donaire has above average power…Rigo is going to get knocked out.

Posted April 4, 2013 1:35 pm

hecdog-You have ALOT to learn about Boxing. First of all this Fight is in the PROS not the AMATEURS. Donaire is Top 5 in the ENTIRE Sport. Rigo only has 11 Fights worth of Experience in the PROS. This Fight is an out right MISMATCH….And Donaire knocks guys out with MORE than just the left hook or did you only watch the Montiel Fight??? YOU just disqualified YOURSELF from speaking on this Fight when you made that ASININE statement. IF Rigo is only going to take the left hook he is in Big TROUBLE. IF he’s that DUMB then LOOK for him to be knocked out with the Right like Sydorenko.

Posted April 4, 2013 12:39 pm

Rigo will easily beat Donaire because he is too fast and tricky for a plodder. 10 – 2 easy UD.

Posted April 4, 2013 12:31 pm

Every single one of Donaire’s past opponents say the same and try to do the same….but once Donaire’s fists land, anywhere, they turn into turtles who try not to get KO’d. This won’t be any different. I

Posted April 4, 2013 12:24 pm

Once Rigo feels that power…he’ll dance AWAY!

Posted April 4, 2013 12:22 pm

It’s Me, Ernie

It’s not Rigo’s style to go after an opponent, especially one that can KO him at any minute. He will look like a dark Lance Armstrong staying on his bicycle to avoid Nonito’s power.

Posted April 4, 2013 11:04 am

no clue

Hecdog .. did you even watch Rigo box? His stance and fighting style are taylor made for a left hook ko.. Donaire’s money punch

Posted April 4, 2013 10:55 am

no clue

Rigo’s people are making a big mistake here by rushing him into this fight… he needs at least 5-7 more fights against legit opponents with legit ko power that will rough him up a little and test his chin and punishment absorbing ability.. i dont wanna say Donaire will blow him away .. it might go the distance .. but i just can’t forget that Montiel fight.. peeps tend to forget that Montiel is a great boxer himself wtih great pop and Donaire totally decimated him

Posted April 4, 2013 10:54 am

I’ave been saying all along that Rigondeaux has the perfect style and amateur back ground to defeat Donaire in stunning fashion and he will. He doesn’t have just an amateur back ground, he’s beat the beat easily including Mares. Styles make fights and, Donaire is a bully type fighter beating guys that have no movement or ring smarts. Rigondeaux has it all, and he’s going to surprise Donaire and his fans with power. Rigondeaux has Wilfred Benitez type defense. He will neutralize Donaire’s one component, which is a powerful left hook. Always take the boxer over the puncher. Donaire can’t make adjustments for more than a round, and he gets hit a lot. Rigondeaux will play with him and make Donaire miss all night. Frustration will set in, and Rigondeaux will out box Donaire to a UD or late round stoppage.
