Norton vs. Williams weights; Vassell-Colomban on November 12th

Stourbridge’s Rob Norton and Streatham’s Leon Williams weighed this afternoon in advance of their British Cruiserweight title bout tomorrow evening at York Hall. The champion Norton weighed in at 14st 3pounds whilst the younger challenger Williams weighed in at 13st 13pounds.

The pair met face to face for the last time before they step through the ropes at York Hall tomorrow with the challenger Williams clearly full of confidence that he can capture the British crown. Animosity was clearly in the air between the two, likely to have been prompted by Wlliams’ claims that Norton is ‘over the hill’ and that he has been ‘hoarding the British title.’

Chief support fighters Ryan Walsh and Liam Richards also weighed in ahead of their Vacant English Super Bantamweight title bout, with Walsh of Cromer weighing in at 8st 10 pounds. Richards of Melksham weighted in slightly over the Super Bantamweight limit and is due to re-weigh in shortly in the hope of making the championship weight.

The bouts are part of another action packed card from George and Francis Warren’s Queensberry Promotions banner and will be live and exclusive on BoxNation, Sky ch 456. The show starts at 7pm and will be live on BoxNation from 8pm.

A limited number of tickets are still available and can be purchased via the box office on 01992 550 888.

HOT TALENT BUTLER RELISHING DONAIRE-NARVAEZ SHOWDOWN ***LIVE ON BOXNATION (SKY PLATFORM CH.456)***

Fast rising British prospect Paul Butler is looking forward to this weekends big World Boxing Organization (WBO)/World Boxing Council (WBC) World Bantamweight title clash between Nonito Donaire and Omar Andres Narvaez, live on BoxNation (Sky Platform Ch. 456) from New York’s Madison Square Garden.

The 22-year-old super-flyweight from Ellesmere Port, who racked up his fifth straight win at the Liverpool Echo Arena last Saturday night, says he will move into the bantamweight division once he has conquered the fly and super-fly ranks.

Butler, a top amateur who won last year’s ABA title, said, “I love watching Donaire fight, he’s a classy and very talented boxer and one of the top pound-for-pound best in the world,”

“It looks like it will be great fight between Doaire and Narvaez, they’re both big punchers and skilful and I can’t see it going the distance, I can’t wait to see it live on BoxNation,”

“I’m a good few years away from mixing it with the likes of these guys, but they are a great inspiration to me and of course fighting at Madison Square Garden one day is my dream,”

“I want to make my mark by cleaning up at fly and super-flyweight and then moving into the bantamweights and face the best there, just like these guys have done,”

Butler put on a star performance on the undercard of Nathan Cleverly v Tony Bellew when he dropped David Kanalas four times in the first round before the referee stepped in.

He added, “I was really pleased with my win against Kanalas, I’ve been training hard with Anthony Farnell in the gym working on the body punching and the results paid off.”

*Live coverage of Donaire v Narvaez on BoxNation will start at 2am on Sunday morning*
