Cestus Management responds to Ashley Theophane inking deal with Hatton Promotions!

By Cestus Press: Based on the recent announcement of British Champion, Ashley Theophane signing a multi year fight deal with Hatton Promotions, Cestus Management regrets to say that Theophane entered into this agreement under a cloud of false and incorrect pretenses.

At present, Theophane is still under a valid management agreement with Cestus and a promotional options agreement with Mick Hennessy of Hennessy Sports which was negotiated by Cestus as part of his terms when he fought for the British title in February 2011. Unfortunately after years of managing Theophane’s career, Ashley abruptly decided that he wants to discontinue his relationship with Cestus alleging breaches of his agreement, none of which have any validity. It is evident by his actions that he allegedly set out to exploit both Cestus and Hennessy’s businesses for his own ulterior gains; Cestus Management signed Theophane in August 2009 and took what was a fledging career and got him a shot at the British title which he subsequently won. Cestus, on behalf of Theophane’s career worked vigorously in Europe and the United States with the best promoters in the business to secure the best fights for him on major TV entities that would have given him a huge worldwide audience.

It is a shame when a fighter decides to go off on an unfounded grudge and takes to social media outlets to discredit and disparage his management team who have worked so diligently for him at all times. Given the events of the last few days, clearly Theophane did not disclose that he has live contracts with another promoter and management and now claims that he has been self-managed; his actions have now put all parties in a very uncompromising position. Cestus Management along with Hennessy Sports will fight Theophane’s attempts to discontinue his existing and valid contracts with as much vigor as they did getting his career to a contender level.
