Last night, on a card promoted by Gary Shaw Productions and Tony Holden Promotions at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma, Street Certified fighting legend Kimbo Slice made a very impressive debut in professional boxing, as he knocked opponent James Wade completely unconscious with a right hook/uppercut in just 10 seconds.
Slice, the former MMA star who gained notoriety with his brutal You Tube-posted street fights, moved his record to 1-0, 1 KO with a punch that left poor Wade draped over the bottom rope like linguine. Paramedics and on-site medical staff were able to revive Wade after a few minutes.
Reminiscent of the “hookercut” that made former heavyweight contender Razor Ruddock famous, Slice brought a half hook/half uppercut to the chin of Wade and he was out before he hit the canvas. “I don’t feel like I got completely under the punch,” said a humble slice, post-fight. “I don’t give myself a good performance in there, but I’m serious about making a run in boxing and I’m headed right back to camp in California.”
The crowd in attendance would disagree with Slice’s evaluation, as they went absolutely insane at the awesome display of power.
“They love him here,” said promoter Gary Shaw. “His ring entrance music was drowned out completely by their cheering. It really made for an exciting atmosphere. That’s the electricity Kimbo brings when he fights.”
Slice says he enjoyed his time in Miami, Oklahoma, and wishes to give back for their hospitality. “I was touched by the community and my heart went out to Joplin, Missouri, so I’m donating a portion of my purse to the relief fund.”
Slice says he’s ready to go whenever advisor Jared Shaw says. His next scheduled fight will be on October 15. The site is still being determined.
In undercard action, surging heavyweight prospect Franklin Lawrence of Indianapolis moved his record to 16-2, 11 KOs with a first-round stoppage (2:31) of Arkansas journeyman Marcus Rhode.
VASQUEZ OUT DUELS RIOS IN EIGHT ROUND WAR AT HARRAHS IN CHESTER, PA

The fight was a give and take affair for the whole eight rounds as the two exchanged furiously throughout the fight
Vasquez built up a lead by working the body of Rios and getting through with some solid right hands.
Rios got back in the fight by rocking Vasquez several times with tremendous uppercuts.
The rounds were close and had action for just about all three minutes of each frame and both guys stood toe to toe until the final bell which drew a thunderous applause from the enthusiastic crowd in attendance
When the scores were announced, Vasquez took home the decision by scores of 77-75; 77-75 while a third card read 76-76.
Lightweight Angel Ocasio remained undefeated by scoring a six round unanimous decision over Rasool Shakoor.
It was the first six round bout for Ocasio of Philadelphia and he won by scores of 60-54; 59-55 and 59-55.
Tony Ferrante tuned up for a September 24th state championship fight by dropping William Prieto in round one. That was enough for Prieto as he didn’t answer the bell for round two and the scheduled four round Light Heavyweight bout was stopped.

West will defend the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Female Bantamweight Title in Mexico against Jessica Villafranca on Televisa
On August 20, 2011, World Boxing Organization (WBO) Bantamweight Champion, Kaliesha “Wild Wild” West (Moreno Valley, California, 13-1-3, 4 KOs) will defend her title at the Black Pyramid Casino, in Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico, against Jessica Villafranca (Nicolas Romero, Mexico, 12-2-0, 6 KOs), in a 10-round bout. West’s WBO title defense will be featured on the Mexican television network, Televisa, at 8 p.m. CT. The fight card titled, “Triple Corona,” is presented by the Mexican boxing promotion, HG Boxing.
Kaliesha West, who is twenty-three years of age, makes her debut with HG Garcia Boxing on the August 20 fight card. In July of 2011, HG Boxing’s promoter, Hector Garcia, signed West to join his impressive promotional roster that includes female world champions, Ana Marie Torres and Arely Mucino. West said, “I feel fortunate to be signed with an international boxing promoter who takes care of their female fighters. With HG Boxing, I feel that I am in great hands and that I made a great choice.”
Her father, Juan West, is her current trainer and has been her boxing manager since the beginning of her boxing career. He said, “I am thankful for Hector Garcia and HG Boxing. They believe in putting female boxers on a big stage, so that they can shine. HG Boxing is setting a good example for all boxing promoters in the world to follow.”
Jessica Villafranca is just eighteen years old, but has already fought fourteen professional fights. In her last bout, she earned a TKO victory. Juan West said, “I realized how tough the young, Jessica Villafranca is, after she contended for the Lightweight Title against Erica Farias. I am very confident in Kaliesha and have prepared her to face the best in the world. A manager knows that matching a fighter requires the right timing and opportunity. We have offered this title defense to many women, and for whatever reason, the opportunity was turned down.” Kaliesha West said, “It doesn’t matter who I fight. I will be ready and prepared for whatever my opponent brings.”
Juan West expressed his excitement in bringing Team West to Mexico. “The people of Mexico are passionate about the sport of boxing. In Mexico, boxing is featured on television almost every Saturday and everyone watches. Born in South Haven, Michigan, Kaliesha West began boxing at the age of ten. Her family relocated to Moreno Valley, California, and she became a decorated amateur boxing star, winning 98 amateur bouts, including the 2003 National Golden Gloves. She began her pro career in 2006, when she was just eighteen years old. On September 18, 2010, she won the vacant Women’s WBO Bantamweight title on the under card of the Mosley-Mora Golden Boy Promotions PPV, by defeating Angel Gladney, via a seventh-round knockout. The fight took place at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California and was held during the Mexican Bicentennial Celebration.
