Lyell defeats Walker; Gomez stops Proctor; Coy Evans in action on 7/8; Brian Vera selected as boxer with most character

Former International Boxing Federation (IBF) and WBC Silver middleweight title challenger Billy Lyell (24-9) made his hometown return a successful one. Using superior skills and effective counter punching, Lyell outpointed Chicago veteran Michael Walker (19-9) over six rounds Friday at the Covelli Center in Youngstown, Ohio. Scores were 60-54 on all cards.

COY “PRETTY BOY” EVANS TO HEADLINE ON FRIDAY JULY 8TH AT THE PALLADIUM IN PHILADELPHIA

PHILADELPHIA (July 2, 2011)—On Friday night July 8th at The New Palladium in Philadelphia, “Salute to Philly Boxers” will present its inaugural boxing card which will feature some of the brightest young fighters in the city and will be headlined by undefeated Coy “Pretty Boy “Evans.

Evans of Philadelphia has established himself as one of the top Featherweight prospects in the country as he is undefeated with a record of 10-0-1 with two wins coming via knockout.

The twenty-six year old has shown improvement in every bout as he is slowly stepping up the competition.

Evans turned pro on October 22, 2004 with a four round unanimous decision over Edward Valdez at The Legendary Blue Horizon. He continued to fight veteran fighters such as thirty-five fight veteran Carlos Diaz in just Evans’ sixth fight.

He showed some power as he scored his two knockouts in a three fight span over Vineash Rungea and Morris Chule.

Evans is coming off a six round unanimous decision over forty-one fight veteran Felipe Almanza on January 28th in Philadelphia.

In the six round co-feature, Stan Martyniouk will take part in a six round Lightweight bout.

The native of Antelope, California sports at record of 10-1 with one win coming by knockout.

The twenty-six year old turned pro on October 19, 2007, with a four round split decision over tough Gerardo Robles.

That fight set off a streak of ten in a row which included wins over Jovann Jones (9-4); Jorge Marquez (3-0); fifty-six fight veteran Anthony Martinez; Jonathan Ramirez (5-2) and Jonathan Bobadilla (4-2).

Martyniouk suffered his first professional defeat in his last bout as he dropped a six round unanimous decision to Khadaphi Proctor on November 27, 2010 in Oakland, California.

Martyniouk’s opponent will be announced shortly.

In a four round Super Middleweight bout, undefeated Fred Jenkins Jr. (2-0, 1 KO) of Philadelphia, PA will take on Stephen Franklin (0-5) of Martinsburg, WV

Tyrone Crawley Jr. of Philadelphia will be making his pro debut against an opponent to be named in a four round Jr. Welterweight bout.

Crawley Jr. is the son of former world title challenger Tyrone “Butterfly” Crawley.

Bo Latimer of Philadelphia will be making his pro debut in a four round Jr. Middleweight bout against Allen Perkins (1-3) of Frederick, Maryland.

The big boys will be in action as Marc Rideout of will make his pro debut against Makidi Ku Ntima (1-1, 1 KO) in a four round battle of Philadelphia based Heavyweights.

Rounding out the card will be undefeated Reynaldo Ojeda (4-0, 2 KO’s) taking on Ramon Ellis (1-6) in a four round Lightweight bout.
