Tucker-Armenta Headlines “TNT’s Toys for Tots” December 11!

Westminster, MD – A very special night it will be Friday December 11 at the Shipley Arena when USBO Light Heavyweight champion Mark “TNT” Tucker headlines an exciting night of boxing, where fans can enjoy an action packed card and help out those in need.

Tucker, 12-0 (7 KO’s), makes his first title defense against hard hitting instate rival George “El Gallo” Armenta. The Eldersburg, MD based Tucker has victories over title challengers Rubin Williams and Ross Thompson, pounding out decisions in both fights. Dubbed by local media as “the franchise” due to his large fan base, Tucker returns to the Shipley Arena for a fifth consecutive time.

Armenta, 13-4 (11 KO’s), of Silver Springs, won seven of his last eight fights and enters the ring with an array of confidence. The hard hitting Armenta holds victories over world title challenger Irving Garcia, 2000 Olympian Dante Craig and dropped a controversial majority decision to WBA Junior Middleweight champion Yuri Foreman. Armenta has promised to end Tucker’s night early.

The Tucker-Armenta USBO Light Heavyweight title fight will take place over ten rounds.

With Christmas coming only two weeks after fight night, Toys for Tots representatives will be on hand throughout the evening to collect donations. All ticket holders are encouraged to bring toys no longer in use to help make this Christmas enjoyable for the less fortunate.

“Any time we can provide fans with excellent entertainment and help out the needy at the same time it’s a win win situation”, said promoter Mark Tucker Sr. “Last time we fought at the Shipley we had a record crowd and if we can bring in another large crowd, I expect there to be enough donations to help out countless underprivileged families.”

Hot prospect James “Keep em Sleepin” Stevenson, 12-0 (10 KO’s), of Baltimore, MD tops a talented undercard and will appear against North Carolina’s John Williams in a six round junior middleweight contest. An excellent boxer-puncher, Stevenson is rated amongst the elite prospects in the Beltway Region.

Also slated to appear in separate bouts are former elite amateurs Emmanuel “Transformer” Taylor, “Slick” Nick Kisner, and Adam Willett. Local favorites Allan Perkins “Pit Bull” Perkins and Omar Sims will respectively appear four round middleweight bouts.

Individual ticket prices range from $15-125. VIP mini tables of four are going for $300 and VIP seating for ten ranges from $750-1250. All VIP ticket holders will get free Hor’dourves from 7-8 PM.

Lil Warrior Victorious!

This past Saturday night at the Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella, Ca. undefeated Super Bantamweight prospect Michael “Lil Warrior” Franco kept his record perfect with an 8th round K/O over former 2 time WBO World Champion Kermin Guardia (37-11 21 KOs). The slick southpaw seemed to give Franco some trouble with his awkwardness early on but by the end of the 2nd round Franco started landing his piston like jab keeping Guardia off balance. By the 4th, Franco had figured out his much more experienced opponent and was landing more frequently to both the head and body even dropping him with a short right hand inside.

The game veteran began to slow down by the 5th round and was in survival mode, running from corner to corner under the relentless pressure it was obvious that he was only looking to finish on his feet. In the 8th Guardia would fall prey to that pressure .28 seconds into the round after another right sent him to the canvas for the count. Referee Zach Young would waive off the bout when Guardia was unable to make it to his feet.

“I’m glad I stopped him, a lot of good fighters have fought this guy but were not able to look good against him or stop the guy or even put him down, but I know I have one of the better jabs in the business and carry a lot of power & precision in both hands. Patients and pressure was the plan for this fight and it worked out the way we expected it”.

The Lil Warrior wanted to thank his promoters Jorge Marron & Don Chargin, his family, Dr. Cohen, Rooly Eye Wear, Flex, Hugo Sosa Entertainment, Top Ten, all of his sponsors and the Warrior Nation for their support.
