Big Night Of Boxing This Saturday – In Three Different Countries: Williams vs Martinez, Khan vs Salita, Huck vs Afolabi

Salita vs khanby James Slater – Fight fans will be spoilt for choice when it comes to making their minds up about which fight card to watch on Saturday evening. There are no less than five highly interesting and important bouts being held, with action taking place in America, England and Germany. It could prove a tough job managing to take in all five potentially exciting fights, but all three cards, comprising of the five match-ups, are being televised by one network or another.

In Atlantic City, New Jersey, we have the double-header that is Paul Williams against Sergio Martinez and Chris Arreola Vs. Brian Minto. Both bouts are good match-ups and, potentially, either guy could win. “The Punisher” has vowed to KO Martinez in their middleweight clash, and his fellow southpaw and light-middleweight titlist has done the same.

As intriguing as this fight is, though, the real fireworks could well come in the joint feature, between sluggers Arreola and Minto. The action may not last too long in this one, perhaps only a frenetic two or three rounds, but the fight both guys absolutely have to win if they’re to get to where they want to go has “must-see” written all over it..

Across the pond in the U.K, another fascinating double-header takes place, as WBA 140-pound champion Amir Khan makes his first defence, against unbeaten mandatory Dmitriy Salita. In all honesty, though, as in the case with the Atlantic City show, it is the chief support fight that looks the most exciting. Bomber Bredis Prescott, who made his name by sensationally taking out Khan in less than a minute last year, takes on the unbeaten Kevin Mitchell. Mitchell will be making his 135-pound debut, after having vacated the super-featherweight ranks, and this too is a must-win fight for both men.

A hugely risky gamble on the part of Mitchell, a fighter who loves a good tear up, the Prescott fight could see him become the news star of British boxing if he wins. A loss, particularly a devastatingly quick won, could send him right to the back of the queue.

Finally, over in Germany, we have a fight that could well be one of the better cruiserweight title fights for a while, as WBO champ Marco Huck meets the clever counter-punching skills belonging to interim champ Ola Afolabi. A very hard fight for both men, this one is arguably the toughest to pick from the five bouts that are taking place on Saturday. Huck is a puncher with underrated skills, while Afolabi, nicknamed “Kryptonite,” is a fine boxer with underrated punching power.

Add it all up, and Huck-Afolabi figures to be a most enjoyable fight.

As does this Saturday’s entire schedule. But good luck in being able to catch all the action as it happens!
