Michael Sweeney will hope it’s a case of third time lucky after a third date for his eagerly anticipated Banner Promotions Tommy Egan Promotions debut was confirmed this week. The Mayo puncher (6-0-1) was set to make his premier appearance with Banner Promotions and on American television in the country of love France on Valentines Day but was pulled of the card by manager Tommy Egan due to last minute concerns over his opponent’s weight..
The undefeated pugilist was then set to fight on a St Patrick weekend Illinois hosted ESPN Friday Fight Night, but the sad passing of his grandfather very close to bout prevented him from competing.
But Tommy Egan has secured the teak tough light-heavy weight yet another fight on a big time televised boxing card in Texas on June 16.
Fittingly the avid country and western fan will now fight in Laredo Texas on the under card of the much hyped IBF Latino Feather weight championship rematch between Fernado Beltran and Miguel Roman.
“I am delighted to have secured Michael another fight on a big and exciting card. In fairness to him he has been very unfortunate this year with the first two fights been postponed, but neither was his fault,” Tommy Egan explained. “According to his trainer John Breen he is been training very hard and is already focused on his next bout.”
And Egan believes the fighter has ever reason to be excited as he is fighting on a top notch card and in front of large TV audience. After Fernado Beltran and Miguel Roman produced an all action ‘money’s worth’ bout earlier in the year, which literally could have gone either way, the American public has been calling for a rematch. Now they have got it and Egan believes there is no better opportunity for Sweeney to show cases his talent.
“There is a great deal of excitement about the Fernado Beltran and Miguel Roman and the show will certainly sell out. It will also been shown on American television so Michael, who is in the best shape he has ever been in, will have a great chance to show the public what he can do. We secured him a four year Banner Promotions deal and if he proves good enough he could earn himself a world title shot in two and a half years .”

As part of the Armed Forces Day Celebrations, Comanche Nation Casino will host a night of professional boxing on Friday night followed by a rock concert the next night, both events under the all new and spectacular EventTent. Six bouts are scheduled in this “sock ‘em rock ‘em” weekend of entertainment, with the fights featuring three world class headliners.
The first is undefeated Native American Boxing Council Super Middleweight Champion George “Comanche Boy” Tahdooahnipah (18-0, 17 KOs) who will fight in the MAIN EVENT. Comanche Boy will be fighting rugged Dan Wallace, traveling from Detroit, Michigan to the heart of Oklahoma to best Comanche Boy in what is sure to be an exciting fight. Detroit boxers are among the best and toughest anywhere and have a history of winning. Comanche Boy’s entrance to the ring is commenced by the thrilling and colorful Comanche War Dancers, a Comanche drum group, and Comanche rap artist, “Red Elk.”
The card also features another bang up brawl with Oklahoma’s own Grady the “Bad Boy” Brewer (24-11), The Contender Champion, who is nationally known and respected. Junior Middleweight Brewer will be fighting Reginald Nash from Chattanooga, Tennessee in a six round bout. In addition to being The Contender Champion, Brewer is a former IBA Light Middleweight Champion.
The third headliner is light heavyweight Marcus Oliveria from Lawrence, Kansas, with an undefeated record of 17-0 (13 KOs). Oliveria’s amateur record is impressive, with 200 wins and only 23 losses. Oliveria will be fighting Isaiah Henderson from Kansas City, Missouri in a scheduled six round fight.
Also scheduled on the card is former NHL hockey player heavyweight Ron “the Ice Man” Aubrey who will fight a four rounder with June Brown from Arkansas. Aubrey, who weighs in at 280 pounds, has developed a following from those who remember his days as a former Oklahoma City Blazer. Since Aubrey’s debut in the boxing ring in 2006, he has fought seven exciting fights and has five wins, four by knock out.
Rounding out the card are heavyweights Tyson Cobb from Wichita Falls, Texas and John Fish from Guymon, Oklahoma and welterweights Jonathan Nelson of Oklahoma City, OK and Brad Hill from Russellville, Arkansas.

JOHNSTOWN , PA , (April 29, 2009) Sensational lightweight prospect Terrance Crawford returns to action against Miguel Delgado this Saturday night, May 2nd, at “FISTS OF THUNDER II”, an evening of world class professional boxing at The Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown, PA.
The Crawford/.Delgado scheduled four rounder is part of an action packed seven bout card presented by Chet Koerner’s TKO BOXING Promotions, curators of the highly acclaimed national boxing series “HOMETOWN HEROES TO WORLD CHAMPIONS” and Team Taylor Made Boxing in association with Rezk Medical Supply.
Following an outstanding amateur career that included winning the 2006 Police Athletic League National Championship, the 21 year old Crawford, a native of Omaha, Nebraska, has quickly emerged as one of the most talked about prospects in professional boxing, compiling an impressive 7-0 with four knockouts record since turning professional a year ago.
In his last outing, Crawford scored a crunching first round knockout of Lucas Rodas on March 21st in Cincinnati .
Said Chet Koerner about Crawford, “Terrance has outstanding skills for such a young fighter.. He’s very strong and has incredibly fast hands which give him a huge advantage over many young lightweight prospects.”
